Cooking 'Round the Clock: Rachael Ray's 30-Minute Meals Reviews
If you're a snooty jack ass who likes to dump on Rachael because you say she's not a "real chef", do me a favor and get off my page. I've bought this book four times, once for myself, and three times as gifts for single friends who couldn't boil water. This is the book for anybody who says they can't cook. Simple yet filling stuff, a beautiful author, and no long afternoons slaving away in the kitchen. You can't get better if you tried.
I love Rachael Ray and her cooking. This book has a lot of fun interesting recipes organized by times of day ( ie cooking around th clock). The only proglem is no index in the back and I had to look throuhg most of the table of contents in the fron to find the Shepheds Pie reipe I wanted to make. I thas in the Early Bird dinner section under UK comforts. I took this one out of the Library and would buy this one
2.5 stars actually. This wasn't a terrible cookbook, but I really do not get all the hype around Rachel Ray. The recipes aren't anything spectacular and many of them would easily require more than 30 minutes to prepare if you don't regularly cook. If you're looking for contemporary American cooking thats chalk full of fat, then this would work great. If you're seeking innovative recipes that are also even somewhat nutritionally sound, then I would stay away from Rachel.
If you are a fan of Rachael Ray you will enjoy this book chock full of 30 minute meals! The set up of the book reminds you of a 50's diner and the receipes are easy as pie. Check out 2 of my favorites on pages 94 and 95.Of course I love her sloppy joes so this receipe for sheppards pie is definately worth counting sheep over! Also... I can never eat enough bred pudding- if you haven't had it in awhile.... get your raisin bread milk and eggs out!Have FUN!!!!!! I am!
RR's recipes are only 30-minute if you race around like she does on her show. Plus, very few pics which are really important in a cookbook! But I am interested in trying the oatmeal cookie waffles....
the recipes are absolutely delicious, though the portion sizes are gargantuan. i think she got the portioning under control in her later cookbooks. her recipes do tend to involve a lot of ingredients, too, which can get expensive/wasteful at the grocery store.
The early cookbooks are always the best. Full of family favorites!
I own 5 RR cookbooks and this is my personal favorite. Right now I have loaned it to my mother and I miss it. Everything I have made from this book has turned out incredible.
Needs an index - had to write one myself.
