Even though I hadn't read the previous books in this series, I was easily able to jump into this and understand what it was all about. I started reading it yesterday, and finished up today. It is the type of book that you start off by jumping right into it. Some books are meant to be read leisurely; this book has action right from the get-go and you hurriedly turn the pages to find out what is going to happen next. I was a bit surprised that I became so engrossed in this book, as this isn't typically the genre that I find myself reading. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I hope to find the other books and read them, as well as the ones that will follow this one. As I mentioned earlier, I don't think that you necessarily have to read the other books in order to appreciate this one, but I'm sure it does help to have some background information on the characters first. Overall, I found this very pleasant to read and enjoyed the various climaxes throughout the book.
In storytelling style, Mark Sheldon weaves another vibrant tale as he continues in The Noricin Chronicles. All fingers point to Danny Regal when students begin disappearing on their birthdays at an alarming rate. Has the Zodiac Killer returned after decades of hiding or has Danny taken a deadly stand against anyone who confronts him? He must choose between revealing a horrible secret or involving his best friends in certain peril to help solve the clues in a sinister plot against him and find the truth before another student vanishes in Chronicles the First: Book 3: The Room of Death.I’m look forward to reading the next excerpt of The Noricin Chronicles and what will become of Danny Regal, his friends and The Steven Noricin School for the New Race.Diane Sismour
I figure I will write a proper review after I've read the previous books. This was me being thrown into this story and what a fantastic story it is. I won this book through goodreads giveaways and I am hooked!
I have to admit that I found a lot of parallels between this book and the Harry Potter series. Maybe I wouldn't have thought this had I read the previous novels but I only have this one to judge from. Had I not read and been such a fan of Harry Potter I would have loved this novel as it is just what I enjoy...magic, mystery, friendship, etc. It is well written and I think it would be enjoyed and well liked by young adults.
