Jess is at a party surrounded by popular people who have all hooked up... except her that is and she's feeling like a fish out of water. The first few lines of this short story made me smile. I loved Sarah Billington's fresh and funny voice for teens, with impeccable comedic timing. I love how the main character manages to be a strong female role model by just being herself when dealing with the pressures of a friends who might not have your back, feeling like the odd one out and those bad popular boys. And I loved the ending too, which might just have an lovely unexpected surprise for our suffering protagonist.... A fun story.PS - I love the title!(this reviewed edition was purchased from Smashwords here)

QuickVery quick read. Not overly descriptive and only finished it because.it was so short. Didn't get a feel for authors writing style.

I must admit that one of the main reasons I bought this e-book was because the main character's name was Jess...! I could definitely relate to her (personality-wise) because I never wanted my first kiss to be with a random guy. I also struggled with self-confidence as a teenager and thought I was hideous (I never had much in the boob department for example haha). But anyway, I thought this was a sweet read and to the point. I wish it was longer, though! I got to the end and thought WHAT? THAT'S IT? But yes, it's a cute ending and leaves you wondering what could happen :)

Im giving this two stars because is is too short!! Just as it turns into something spectacular it abruptly ends and it really annoys me.The characters are flawless and engaging and just as their individual personalities developed their futures were tskebt away by the bloody ending! !!aside from my dislike about its shortness, it is a fantastic little story and it is accurate in hoe puberty can hit people at different times and how thst can have negative effects on friendships. a great little piece

cute. that's really all I have to say. this always happens in books. cute, quiet girl, meets cute quiet boy.. and the end. that's it. Okay. sure. but now what? i understand its a short story, but seriously. there could have been something exciting happen. not just some Dick doing what he does best. and let's just say, not all stoners are like that. most of them are, in fact, nice people. because they're stoned. check out this book and see if you agree with me.

This was a lot shorter than I anticipated. It really does show how teenagers develop at different speeds, but it really wasn't a story. It was okay, but there needs to be more of a plot than her running from a random guy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It captured what it was like to be that age when girls just start to like boys. Again, Ms. Billington makes me want to read everything she's ever written.

Disappointed. I know it was a short story but I think it may have been a bit too short. I would have liked a bit more.

This short story is so easy to relate to. It's a great reminder to forget what others think/want and go with what makes us happy. :)

Free on kindle. I liked Jess' independence. This was really short, I mean really short. Cute story though.

This could so have gone somewhere. Guess I didn't realize how short it was. But I love this author and her work so 5 stars:)

This short short story is just charming. A really nice story; it makes a point without labouring it, and then moves on. I liked it a lot.

A cute tease of a short story. Hoping Billington makes a sequel short to tell what happens with the two characters at the end.

It was a nice read. Enjoyable. Except it was a little predictable.

I am rather biased as I wrote this one myself. :) It also won the Gippsland Award in the 2009 Fellowship of Australian Writers Awards.
