Writing Broken Promises has been such an amazing experience and I can't wait to share it with everyone this October. It has definitely been a labor of love, one that I'm proud of and my Bree and Quinn - as an author you can't ask for better characters. I hope you enjoy it!- Bels (author)

Broken Promises is the first book in the new Brianna Lane series by Belinda Boring. This was my first book by Belinda Boring and I have to say I really liked it. It's an urban fantasy story about evil Fae invading Planet Earth. Now, I did not realize there were Fae involved when I picked it and as they are not my favorite PRN creatures, I was none too sure. But I really did like it. Those evil ol' Fae 'glamour' the population which turns them violent, causing them to turn against one another. The primary characters are Quinn (dangerous uber hottie) and Bri (smart, headstrong, independent female) who have great chemistry. After the Fae do their 'glamour' bit, Quinn, Bri's one true love, turns violent and abusive and her world falls completely apart. Realizing that everything she has ever known has changed, she decides she will stop at nothing to reverse the hold the Fae have over Quinn and the rest of the population. The Good: The characters are great and the book is well written. As the story began to unfold, I got completely sucked in. It was a total page-turner. (You know me, I had to know "What Happens Next?!!" ;) The entire storyline is a good one. It's dark and edgy and full of action, something I loved. Belinda did a really cool thing during the story. She would 'show' us happy memories from Bri's mind, where we got to 'see' the real Quinn. Of course, as Bri's heart was breaking, mine broke right along with her. What a horrible situation to be in, having the person you completely and totally loved with all your heart become someone you hardly recognize. Of course, the secondary characters were well written also. Liam was my favorite...quite the hottie himself, if I do say so.The Bad: Two words: Cliff. Hanger. Now if Belinda had already released the next book in the series (ooh a series!;), I would not have minded but between my shock over the final scene and the cliff hanger in general, I finished the book feeling very unsatisfied. The Snuggly: The sizzling chemistry between feisty little Bri, and her oh-so-very yummy counterpart, Quinn heats up the book big time. Even when he changes and is after Bri, trying to hurt her, there is always another part of him that really wants to seduce her. I mean, all they have to do is come into contact and sparks fly. Sadly Bri knows she must stay away from him for her own safety so it cuts a lot of the juicier moments short. The entire book undoubtedly drips with sexual tension. You are left always wondering if a steamy, scene-stealing kiss is just around the corner or if you will be taken in a totally new direction. There is a lot of suspense, humor, and romance in this book. You'll find yourself holding your breath in some parts, dying from the suspense. It is a sexy and original read, one I am glad I picked up. I think that anyone who enjoys urban fantasy will enjoy this but it is definitely an 18 or older read. Overall, well done - 4 Stars, 3 Flames!***NOTE: I received this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. All opinions are 100% my own.

Lisa's review ofBroken PromisesBy Belinda BoringI received a copy of Broken Promises in exchange for an honest review. This book is so different from her other SWOONY books it is darker and deeper. What would you do if the world suddenly went crazy and you find out that you were not who you thought you were. Brianna and Quinn were having the time of their lives do much in love. They were the ying and yang to each other. They balanced the other out until the dark fae decided that humans were vermin. Belinda draws you into the drama and suspence of Bri trying to save her beloved Quinn. Can he be saved? Or is it too late? Bri needs to learn more about her fathers family heritage if she us to succeed. With the help of Liam and his friends can the stop the fae? The characters that Belinda developed are swoon worthy and complete on their own. Should Bri forget about Quinn and get Liam? Can Bri's grandmother help them fight the evil that is threatening the human realm? ADDED REVISION AFTER RE-READING.Ok first off I read this book initially because I loved how this author writes. I am not a fan of the fae under any circumstances but I'm a fan of the author. I initially read the book but I didn't really READ the book I didn't invest myself into the storyline except in my hate of the lead male character Quinn. When I went back and re-read the book I got a very different feeling. Bri and Quinn were so much in love. The way they met was so sweet and caring. Quinn showed a very tender side of himself joking about highlanders and romance books in of all places a bookstore. Then during day to day things you could see the intensity of their love. He became a putz because of the charm. Does the love go away for either? Should it? Love is something that you should never ever take for granted you don't know what tomorrow brings. Just because one shows a different side to themselves you don't give up you FIGHT FOR WHAT YOU WANT. Don't fling yourself into the arms of someone you think may be good. True love doesn't go away you must keep fighting if it is truly meant to be. I am actually wanting to find more into the story. Would love to see some touching moments between the two. Can love overcome. This is a dark story not rainbows and unicorns. This is a love story that teaches us to fight for our destiny's and live for today cause tomorrow might not be there. I highly recommend this book to everyone for a different take on fate and destiny.

I am one of those people who either does not read they synopsis or if I do it is way before I get to the book. I like the surprise of it. In this case, I knew I loved the author and did not even skim the synopsis. I am so glad I read it that way because I never knew what was going to happen. In fact, I did not realize it was even about Fae, which are one of my all time faves. I know I would have loved it regardless because it was such a different story and had fae in a unique way. Here are some of the things I loved about it:*I loved that it was a love story, but not a "find my true love, get marries, have happily ever" after story. It was a love that was already there. A love story that had more story left.*I do not know how to say this without giving anything away, so this may be too vague to be useful. I loved how the fae's power manifested itself in Bri's world.* I loved both Bri and Quinn. They were quirky, but real. They were smart, playful, and knew what was worth fighting for even when they could not fight the way they would have liked. They are a great pair and I look forward to see how they develop throughout the series.*The last scene was AMAZING! That is all I have to say on that ;).This book was a great start to what I believe will be a phenomenal series! If you like your para with adventure, romance, and a bit of mystery, this book is probably for you. This is definitely an 18 plus read, so if you are under 18, I would look elsewhere to get your fae fix.

What do you do when the man you love turns cold. How does it make you feel when he was just a romantic guy the other day. OMG!!! I just couldn't believe some of the things that went on in this book. Wow!!!

3.5 of 5 StarsAs a fan of Belinda Boring’s Mystic Wolves series, when I heard about Broken Promises, an urban fantasy with a darker edge, I was intrigued. Broken Promises is centered around the fae and the human world is drastically altered because of their actions. There is deeper development and background that has to take place in Broken Promises than in the Mystic Wolves series, and while I don’t feel the book was flawless, it was a very promising start to a new series.Broken Promises begins with Bree and Quinn, a couple very much in love. Bree is a fairly clumsy girl and Quinn is her rock. When the fae invade and cause humans to turn on each other, ensnaring Quinn in the violence, Bree’s world is split on multiple levels. The world is no longer the same and her lover loses his humanity to cruelty and violence. Bree has a very difficult time accepting the new circumstances, and she is stubbornly determined to try to save Quinn. Quinn has been influenced and taken over by the dark Fae General. He has become cruel and determined to turn Bree to the violence with him. However, Bree is not alone, she learns that there are others who can resist the fae influence and these others are Guardians that try to protect the world from the Fae. The Guardians help Bree find out who she really is and give her some hope.I really like the premise of Broken Promises. I am intrigued by the Fae, how they want to take over the human realm, and they use cruelty and violence to do it. I am a bit unsure about Bree. I felt that Bree was whiny, she was full of angst, she has a lot of meltdowns, and she doesn’t think about the repercussions to her actions. Also, in the beginning of the book, Bree was described as a super clumsy person, but the clumsiness didn’t come into play after the Fae invaded and was never explained. I did feel for Bree though when it came to Quinn. The thought of losing the person you truly love is a major theme of the book, and the emotions come through. With a story involving lost love, alternate worlds, and violence around every corner, Broken Promises sets the foundations for what promises to be a thrilling new urban fantasy series. There is a lot of action throughout Broken Promises, a detailed plot, and background on Bree and her past. All of the elements to a good story are there but I felt like the story was disrupted at times by Bree’s repetitious angst and carelessness. The flow of the story did not feel seamless. However, the characters grew on me and I really did enjoy the story. I will be reading the next installment in this series, I am looking forward to it.Readers, if you like urban fantasy stories, especially urban fantasy stories centered around the Fae, then you should consider giving Broken Promises a try.*I received this book in exchange for an honest review*

This is a book about Faes fighting to rule our world. Brianna Lane is a clumsy young lady who is blessed with the love of her boyfriend Quinn who finds her many failings endearing. They are going out to a movie. Listening to a song on the radio on the way there he seems to get beyond angry all of a sudden. Scaring her. In the movie he gets worse, everyone seems to be angry and wanting to fight everyone else. Somehow once they leave the movie Quinn manages to fight the compulsion affecting everyone else. Bri sees 2 men she just knows are not human and she wants to hear what they are saying. What she hears terrifies her. Then Quinn turns again, she can tell not only by his actions, trying to choke her, but because his brown eyes are now a bright blue. Quinn had promised never to hurt her, thus the title of this book. She runs away but has no where to go. She ends up spending the night in an alley hiding from all the turned people. The next day people like her, not affected, find her and take her to safety. Through phone conversations with her grandmother she learns she is 1/2 Fae - her dad that she never knew was Fae. She can be turned but it takes more to do so. She has a keepsake in her apartment that she has to find and wear always to prevent being taken over by the evil. She becomes friendly with the others like her. But her primary goal is not theirs, hers is to find Quinn and somehow save him. He finds her several times and violence is always the result, but she just can't give up on him. Liam is similar to the old Quinn, wanting to protect her, and frequently the one who has to fight Quinn to get her free again. The ending leaves the future hanging. Bri makes a choice that changes her life. Was it a good or bad choice? Only time will tell, the book doesn't.

I loved Bri and Quinn as characters! Your experience the emotions that the characters are having and hoping it will get resolved. The story is unique in a genre that has many authors with great books. This author is in my opinion right up there with Karen Marie Moning. The world is under attack. No one saw this one coming until it was already happening. The method of attack is so overpowering that even those that figured out what was going on had little to no time to defend themselves against it. The human race stands the chance of being annihilated by their own hands without understanding their actions. How could this be happening? A handful of people can answer this question only because the secret that the Fae truly existed on another world has been kept a secret from Earth.Bri never knew what she was until the Fae came to her world and took over her boyfriend's mind. She thought she was just a super clumsy human who got lucky enough to fall in love with an amazing man. Then her world came crashing down around her as her boyfriend and the other people around her suddenly grew very angry and violent. No one seemed to be able to control their torturous tendencies. Even Bri was struggling to maintain her normal composure. After nearly being killed, she learns who she really is and why she has a fighting chance to fight the charm affecting the humans. Will Bri be able to continue fighting the charm? Will her boyfriend ever be normal again and not try to kill her? Will the human race be able to withstand the magic of the Fae? Only time will tell.I am very intrigued about where this story is going to go. You will not get all the answers in this one story, but Belinda Boring certainly knows how to leave you wanting more. You won't be disappointed with this cliffhanger.Read more reviews at Identity Discovery Blog.

As many of you know I am a huge Belinda Boring fan, so when I was asked to review this book I jumped at the chance. Let me just say Belinda's writing just gets better and better with each book she puts out. My only problem was that I just didn't start this book sooner than I did. Bri and Quinn , everything is perfect until one day he just changes into someone she doesn't recognize. Confused and scared she doesn't know what to do and ends up finding about her own family isn't what she thought they were. This book seriously was a roller coaster ride of fun, drama, hot smexy action and those hot kisses Belinda is known for writing. I personally bounced back and forth between the male characters in this book I started out like Quinn a whole hell of a lot then bam , he turned into well lets just say even though I love bad boys, I just couldn't go with how he was with Bri. Then came in Liam 'sigh' , he protects Bri like a man should and treats her like a man should. Can you tell I am Team Liam ? Pardon me while I shout or cuss ...... okay I did it silently but picture me screaming at my ereader just a little while ago. Belinda did it again!! I am not sure whether I love her or hate her for her cliffhangers. Okay I still love her, but I am not sure I can handle being left hanging yet again. This time I have to wait til 2013. So the world better not end on Friday or I am going to be so pissed. Anyway sorry for the rant, if you have read her other books, please I beg you to get this one. It was brilliantly done even with the agonizing cliffhanger.

Broken Promises is the first book in the new Brianna Lane series by Belinda Boring. It's an urban fantasy story about evil Fae invading Earth. They glamour the population to make them violent, and people start turning against each other. When Quinn, the man Bri loves, turns violent – her world shatters. Everything she has ever known has changed, and she will stop at nothing to reverse the hold the Fae have over Quinn and the rest of the population. The night starts out with Bri and Quinn going out on a date. When chaos ensues, Bri knows she must find refuge. The city breaks out into total chaos, but she knows she can't go home – Quinn will find her there and try to hurt her again. Luckily, Bri teams up with others who are unaffected by the glamour. She also finds out some very shocking revelations about her heritage.Bri and Quinn have some major chemistry going on. Even when he changes and wants to hurt Bri, the other part of him wants to seduce her. Every time they come into contact, sparks fly – but Bri knows she must stay away from him for her own safety. I enjoyed the happy memories that came to Bri's mind, and liked seeing the “real” Quinn. My heart broke for Bri – her life turns upside down. There is a lot of action and suspense in this book. The characters are great and it is well written. I think that anyone who enjoys urban fantasy will enjoy this. The ending will make you want to hunt the author down and force her to finish book #2 ASAP :)Favorite line: "Never mess with a woman whose obsession is romance novels." ~Bri

This book drew me in the moment I read the first page. The story line and characters were interesting. I liked this version of the fae. The prologue gave me a little of what this story was going to be about. Dangrous, edgy, and questions of what was going to happen. I'm curious to see who this queen is in Fae and what she has to do with the rest of the series.Bri and Quinn were fantastic charcters. The way they talk to each other and love each other so much brought a smile to my face. Bri being clumsy and Quinn making fun of her for it but also had a concern quality to him. I also liked that Bri loves books and her whole world gets turned into this book but is her real life. When the danger was brought into the story I couldn't stop reading. I needed to know what was happening. It broke my heart when Bri lost Quinn to the darkness. The crew that helps Bri I really enjoyed. Liam, Marshall, Lacey, and James all brought a little humor to the story. I enjoyed Liam's protectiveness over Bri. And the fact that they all protected her without knowing really anything about her. Bri's grandmother I would have liked to see more of but the little that you get to see I enjoyed. Noah I liked just as much. Both her grandmother and Noah being a leader for there parts and being there for Bri when they can.Overall I really enjoyed this story and look forward to seeing what happens next espicially with how it ends. It has love, danger, mystery, and humor.

Belinda Boring, you wicked writer. This is a story filled will all the things that make people love romance novels. It's steamy, unpredictable and a unique storyline. I love how you presented a different perception of Fae. The passion between the characters Bri and Quinn is palpable and will leave more than one woman wishing she could find a love that intense.I stayed up two nights in a row unable to stop reading just to find out what happens next. **Spoiler Alert** I had to know if Bri would be able to save the Quinn she once knew despite how horrible he becomes. I mean I really started to hate this guy. At least once I wished I was Liam when he tazered the guy. He really deserved to get his butt kicked. Then you left me hanging.Ms. Boring tell me you are coming out the the second book soon. I need to know. The situation seems so hopeless. There has to be a way out and I need to know how the Guardians save the day...if they can.BTW, amazing story. The characters are believable and complex. The storyline is compelling. The terror inflicted on the human race left me desperate to know the outcome. Bravo! Another great tale.I was provided a copy of this book by Promotional Book Tours for review. All opinions are 100% my own and no other compensation was provided.

Belinda again comes out with a BANG. Here is another amazingly written book that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end.Another set of characters who you fall in love with easily. These characters are funny, infuriating and at times break your heart. I loved Bri right off, and her sexy as hell boyfriend Quinn. Everything is normal until they get close to the movies, something is happening to Quinn and it isn't right. She has no idea how to help him, or what to do all she knows is she has to do whatever it takes to save him. When Quinn turns violent she knows it isn't him and she sees in rare glimpses the old Quinn trying to fight. When on the run, she runs into trouble and has no idea what to do, she knows Quinn is hunting her and she has to find help, which she does. Bri is still thinking Quinn is good and in those rare moments she is taken by surprise by him and his attitude. But she can't help but think of all the good times they had, and the old him, things start to become blurred.Quinn is taking great pleasure in the cat and mouse games, all he knows is he wants Bri no matter what . Bri is scared but helpless when it comes to him, she will do whatever it takes to keep her new friends safe, and when she does all goes down hill.Again with the punch in the gut ending but I cannot wait. To see where Belinda takes us next!!

Broken PromisesWhat do you do when the man you love turns on you? I mean, not break up but literally becomes a dark and violent predator whose only goal is to destroy you. This is the question that hangs heavy in Brianna Lane’s heart and mind. Her boyfriend Quinn Michaels, a loving and compassionate man has a sudden mood swing, not typical for his easy going personality a change that threatensBrianna’s life and maybe even the human race. Suddenly it’s not just Quinn who is acting like a mad man as the strange violent behavior is spreading like a virus through the city.Who or what is responsible for the havoc that surrounds Bri… Fae!Brianna existence has become the utmost important as she learns the truth about her family heritage.Fae compulsion and charms all add to the mystery of why everyone is acting so violent.Bri is a strong character whose goals are to hopefully revert the spell that has overcome Qiunn and the rest of the city. The story was a little slow and dragged out in some areas but overall good reading, the ending surprised me a little not sure if Bri planned itthat way, so until the next in the series “Broken Trust” is released I’ll be left guessing!

Now I am a fan from the get go. I read the first Mystic Wolves book and was completely fascinated & hooked from the get go. So going into Broken Promises was a no brainer for me. I read it laying in a camper last night squished between my two little boys. I stayed up until I had finished the very last page! I was taken in from page 1. Belinda is as detailed with the characters as she is with captivating every detail of the character's surroundings. It's almost as if you are there and you can see it in your head as the story plays out. I love that she had Bri relive memories of time spent with Quinn. It made me get to know both of the characters and understand them quite well. I don't think she could have made Quinn any more swoon worthy even if she had tried. Quinn was perfect just the way she made him and developed him in the story. I even found myself swooning over him when he was not at his best. I think that is what she had intended and I was completely and utterly pulled in. Just like in the Mystic Wolves series where I cried my eyes out and felt the pain of the characters in those books, I could feel the pain of Bri in Broken Promises. That to me is a sign of a true artist!!

An awesome read...Belinda Boring has a way with words and stories and that is so evident in Broken Promises. This writer has a fantastic imagination and the writing is fast paced and fluid. You are captured from the first page and can’t stop until the book is done and you are left wanting for more.Brianna and Quinn are a couple deep in love but their world is changing. The Fae have invaded Earth and are magically turning humans violent to control them and take over everything. Brianna seems to be immune but Quinn is infected and so Brianna fights to save him. This is a task that is not easy but her love is strong. Brianna is thrown many curves and finds out much about herself that she did not know before. I will not elaborate so as not to spoil the fun of the read. You feel for these two characters, their chemistry jumps off the page at you. This is a darker story line than I have read from this author before but she did it well and the romance is sexy and filled with swoon. I am so looking forward to the continuation of this story. I highly recommend this book.

I love the story idea but I do not love the story. Brianna got on my nerves! She needs to get her head out of the clouds and stop acting like a horny teenager so she can act her age so she can see the bigger picture. The story seems to drag when it should have spent ahead and spent ahead when it should have slowed down. The supporting characters could have been great but they are way too far in the background. I felt like there was more to the story then just Brianna and Quinn and wanted more of that story but didn't get it.Because I have enjoyed other books by Belinda Boring I am will to give book two a chance. I hope she develops the story more and not just dwell on Brianna and Quinn. I mean I sure hope the point of the story is not about how much of a fool Brianna is acting over Quinn.

I picked this up on a recommendation as I had run out of books to read. After reading the blurb I found it a bit slow in the beginning and there was not enough of a paranormal aspect for me. I usually read action based novels with a large supernatural element. What started out as a normal date for Quinn and Bri turned into a nightmare as the Fae unleashed a powerful charm causing humans to become possessed. Rage and violence overtook the city and Quinn became a monster so Bri had to flee. An invasion had begun and Bri must find a way to release Quinn from the spell or die trying which may be the case. Apart from the Fae being there after the initial spell, no other magic followed and the story was more about Bri trying to rationalise her feelings for the Quinn she fell in love with and the intruder who now occupied his body.

Broken Promises by Belinda Boring is a dark an unyielding story of the Fae; one that you have not read before. Bri and Quinn start out their day as any other day IN LOVE. A day that starts out well is all they could hope for, but ends with an unimaginable and unspeakable evil that has been unleashed by the Fae on the human race. Bri and Quinn are deeply in love until he is converted. She must do what she can to save her beloved who has been corrupted by this sinister and deathly evil. She will stop at nothing to save the man she loves even if it means putting herself in danger. Bri will learn the truth about herself and who or what she may be. The author has done it again and will leave you waiting for the next chapter in Bri and Quinn’s escapades.

“Good writing is supposed to evoke sensation in the reader -- not the fact that it is raining, but the feeling of being rained upon.”― E.L. DoctorowBelinda does it again! This world she creates is so real. You definitely feel as if the world is one way and the next its unraveling like someone is tugging on a string and all the stitches come undone. It was a wonderful journey and I cannot wait for the next! Bri is so lovably real and full of emotions that I don’t think a person could not enjoy getting to know her. And Quinn… Simply, Wow! Just Wow! Good Quinn/Bad Quinn are like two very different people and at the same time hold one common thread, wanting Bri. Will it be enough? I know I cannot wait to find out!

This book was awesome, but let me say, I should have been prepared. I knew better. Belinda Boring rocks you to the core yet again in Broken Promises. This woman can reduce you to a puddle with one of her famous make-out scenes, and then turn around and have you yelling at the characters in the next breath! I love the way she shows you the real Quinn through flashbacks as you are dealing with the awful things that converted Quinn is doing. Just when I thought I knew what was coming, BAM!! So here I am, dying to get my hands on the next book in the series. Did I mention, I am squarely on TEAM SAVE QUINN!!

Belinda Boring did it again with Broken Promises. Broken Promises is a new style for Belinda Boring and another winner for sure. Bri and Quinn are on their way to a great date night when Quinn changes almost instantly. The Fae are taking over and have compelled humans turning them into violent evil creatures. All Bri wants is to save the man she loves before it is to late. Will love prevail? A walk on the dark, intense side of love. Can't wait to read the next one. I received a free copy of Broken Promises from Promotional Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Belinda Boring! Job Well done!!

Belinda Boring never fails to grab me by my eyeballs and take me on a rollercoaster ride of non-stop action and steamy love scenes! Broken Promises is no exception. I purchased this novel last year after reading her Mystic Wolves series not knowing what to expect and I was very pleased to find that Ms. Borings imagination takes me to places I wish were real and creates characters I’d love to know! If you like magic, betrayal, and a kick-ass heroine, then this is the book for you! I cannot wait for more of Bri and Quinn! Treat yourself to a post-Christmas, early birthday, or an ‘I deserve it’ gift and buy yourself a copy today!

This is an intense exciting violent read. The human population has been corrupted by Fae and they are making humans kill each other. She has learned from her grandmother that she is half Fae. Brianna's boyfriend Quinn has gone from a sweet sexy guy to an abusive monster. And she keeps her head stuck in the past when he use to be different. She needs to come out of the clouds before something happens to her. This has a cliffhanger. Enjoy I did. This is part of the Tall, Dark and Supernatural bundle.

This was my first Belinda Boring book and I am hooked. This book was awesome. It had me engrossed from the begining and I didn't want to put it down. I love Bri and her strength and her stubbornness. Quinn is the sexy sweet boy that is turned bad. Ohh and can't forget Liam. All I can say is HOT. Everything about this book rocked. When you get this book make sure you have nothing planned because you will get nothing done. 5 stars for a book that flowed with no dull moments and perfect writing. Loved it.

For the most part I enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and interesting but I cant say i was not frustrated with Bri's mistakes in thinking Quinn is good while under the influence of the charm. Am i being insensitive? Its not that I do not understand or appreciate their connection but I still think she could've exercised a little more common sense while being hopeful and doing all she can to save him
