However, Lila seems more peeved than distraught, and her main gripe is that the sexy robber who tied her to a kitchen chair—for her own good—didn’t follow her suggestion to tie her to the bed instead. Lila’s description of the man fits Savannah’s old school-mate Rafael Collier to a T. Rafe has recently turned up in Savannah’s life again, and he isn’t above doing a little breaking and entering. Metro Nashville Homicide Detective Tamara Grimaldi is of the same opinion, and when Lila turns up dead, tied to her bed and strangled, Rafe becomes a suspect. Now Savannah must get busy finding the real murderer before Detective Grimaldi can arrest the wrong man.*** Contains an excerpt of Contract Pending, Savannah Martin Mystery #3...

See, the thing is, I don't really like Savannah. She's a "lady", meaning that she is above everyone else and she likes to remind you of that by constantly comparing herself to less "well-bred" people (she actually makes connections between how people behave and how they were "bred". What???). She is uptight about... well, pretty much everything. Sex? Oh no! How could you say such thing??? Swearing? Holy moly, what?? Even words such as "damn" made her burn with embarrassment. I like a passionate heroine and that includes swearing and getting pissed off. However, Savannah is a LADY and all she can think about is what her mother would say, and her mother would most certainly not approve of her showing such inappropriate behavior. *eye-roll* This is precisely why the romance between her and Rafe (cool name, btw) feels so odd - he's a charming bad boy and she's like an inanimate object with literally zero emotions or personality. She could be a chair or a lamp by all we know. It was also annoying that she clearly had feelings for Rafe but chose to slam him every time someone asked if they were together. She would always mention how a a man, who grew up in a trailer with a single mother, who got knocked up when she was 14 by a coloured boy (tad bit racist there, girlie) could never be with her. I'm not kidding, nor am I exaggerating. Go and read it. It's all there. Savannah, plain and simple, was a grade A bitch. She wasn't passionate, she wasn't feisty, she was weak and empty and boring and arrogant. Don't believe me? She felt that it was perfectly ok to marry Todd, an ex-boyfriend she started dating again (btw, those always ended with one kiss and a goodbye), who she had no chemistry with (nada), who SPIED on her and who was an even bigger D-bag than her, just because her mother would APPROVE and he earned enough money to make her a comfortable housewife. All in all, it wasn't such a bad book (although I wanted more Rafe appearances) but I hope to god that she will grow a pair and get her head out of her ass and become the heroine who I can picture with someone like Rafe.

Great book :) The only thing I dont like about savannah is that she can be a bit judgemental... that being said I also like that about her, it makes me feel like I am really in someone's head. The part of it I dislike is the repetitiveness. Like we get it marquita is fat, yvonne is slutty but nice, etc etc...

This book picks up right where Cutthroat Business left off and continues the wannabe realtor and wannabe investigator's adventures.Although this story does not offer much in the sense of mystery, and although the protagonist is even more annoyingly prudish than in the first book, it still comes across as a fun, fast-paced read. The author presents us with a simple, but mostly effective, writing style and characters that you can't help but feel strongly about, whether you like them or hate them.

Really fun, fast paced cozy mystery! Even better than the 1st book! Savannah Martin is a Realtor. A couple of other Open Houses end up being burglarized and then people end up dead. Then Savannah has to do an Open House. This is a really good cozy mystery with everything I love : interesting characters, intriguing mystery with some twists, some humor and some romance. Savannah is still a little snobby but it is part of her character and the story. It was hard to put down right from the 1st page!

I enjoyed this book very much but I just wish the protagonist wasn't such a southern belle who does everything the way her family expects. I am not saying that she shouldn't go out of her way to please her mother and her brother but I wish she would think about what makes her happy and act accordingly. There is a good story line and I have already started to read the next book in the series.

Wow! Okay, where to start? The book at times felt long, wordy. The mystery was good, kept me guessing. Some of the characters were a little over the top. Cheesy. Rafe was swoon worthy as a bad boy. I don't really care for Todd. The ending would have left me 50 kinds of mad had I not had book three ready and waiting.

Mostly a good seriesBut that demure, southern belle bullS really gets on my nerves and Todd is a dumbA. I hope she finds the nerve to stop living the life her mom wants and tells her to back TF up. She's like a D helicopter parent. Jesus.

I read and reviewed this book, along with Books 1 & 3, in the boxed set.Totally enjoying this series! These books have kept my interest. They contain excitement, sadness, loss, crime, murder, romance, and family. Savannah was brought up as a 'proper' Southern lady. Her mother expects her to act and be a certain way. She is expected to marry the right type of man. But, what does a person do when the 'wrong type of man' is on their mind. Rafe was born and raised on the wrong side of the tracks, so to say. Trouble seems to follow him around, and Savannah ends up right in the middle of it all. Savannah's mother pushes her to marry Todd, who tends to be quite whiny. In my opinion, he would be a pain in the backside. I was happy to hear what Rafe did for a living, it suits him. I would recommend this series. It is a well-told, smooth flowing series. Each book tends to be better than the previous book, so they get better as the series goes on.

Fresh of reading A CUTTHROAT BUSINESS, I felt like I needed more Savannah Martin and even more importantly I needed more Rafe Collier. So I immediately picked up HOT PROPERTY, the second book in this series. HOT PROPERTY picks up a few weeks after the end of A CUTTHROAT BUSINESS and sees Savannah trying to get on with her life and sell some houses. Unfortunately her chosen career is in jeopardy when a group of robbers decide to target realtors. Soon one of the realtors turns up dead and Savannah has to try and catch the murderer before she ends up the one dead. I love this series and so it's not going to come as a surprise that I simply adored HOT PROPERTY.HOT PROPERTY is the perfect mix of mystery, romance and adventure. The mystery was very good and left me guessing to the very end. This is the second time that Jenna Bennett has almost stumped me. I like to think I'm getting pretty good at solving cozy mysteries but so far Savannah is solving them before me!I really enjoyed Savannah as our amateur sleuth and even though she does put her foot in it (like when she tells Rafe exactly how inappropriate it would be for her to date him and how her family would not approve - girl forget the family, he is hot!) she is so sweet and likable and I find myself rooting for her to survive the adventure, and maybe sell a house or two!!Readers that adore Rafe in A CUTTHROAT BUSINESS will be pleased to know that he is more adorable and more sexy in HOT PROPERTY. Every time he says "darlin'" in that southern accent of his I swear I feel my toes curling involuntarily!! Trust me I'm pretty sure he has the same effect on Savannah. Watching their friendship and the sexual tension develop between them was a treat. If you like your cozy mysteries on the sexy, romantic side I strongly encourage you to pick up HOT PROPERTY. You definitely won't be disappointed. The only think you will be asking yourself is why you haven't read them before now!HOT PROPERTY gets a 5 stars from me. It is a perfect winter read. No there is no Christmas or snow in it, but there is lots of edge-of-your-seat adventure and quite a few steamy tension-filled scenes with Savannah and Rafe to warm up your bones!

Loved it. A wonderful cozy mystery with a strong plot and solid relationships. I enjoyed the first book a lot, and one of the things I liked was the potential for development in the main character, Savannah. This book was much better and she shows the growth she made in the last book; she is aware that her old world is not the real world. Only a short time has passed between the two books.I am disappointed that she does not see what I see about Rafe, but I could be wrong in my expectations; there is a great deal of evidence to support her beliefs. My disappointment is in the character, not with the author's pacing of the relationship. I think part of her level of expectations of Rafe is protection from being disappointed, but she is admitting that there is something between them and she knows that she trusts him. Their relationship is my favorite thing about the book, but I also love that she is not stupid. I enjoy cozy mysteries but sometimes I want to shake even my favorite characters and shout "get a clue". Savannah does not always make the best decisions, but she usually either realizes it or is making the decision based on what she knows.I received a copy of this book in appreciation for reviewing the first one and I am sure in hopes of a review of this book. It is my delight to do so. As soon as I finished it, I sat down and wrote a note to my Facebook book group sharing how much I loved it. I will be buying the rest of her books over time and expect to continue to share my enjoyment.I hardly ever give 5 star reviews at Goodreads on a first reading because I am comparing each book to the best I have read. As a recommendation, it qualifies as a 5!!

Hot Property is the second book in Jenna Bennett’s Savannah Martin mystery series. Here are my top three reasons to read this book:1) The chemistry between Savannah and Rafe is off the charts and had me squealing at 1 am.2) Ms. Bennett makes you feel like you are wandering the streets of Nashville with Savannah. This woman writes good setting.3) Mystery is one of Ms. Bennett’s strengths. I wasn’t sure how this one would shake out until the heart-stopping end.Maybe it’s because I went to Killer Nashville in 2009, but I loved how she brought the city to life on the page with just the right level of detail.Ms. Bennett does a phenomenal job merging the romance and mystery genre here.Rafe Collier and Savannah Martin smolder the pages. I’m surprised I don’t have burns on my fingertips. Seriously, fantastic chemistry and tension. I would sit through 200 pages of them just having dinner. Because they are that amazing to read. There are elements of suspense as well that keep you turning those last 100 pages faster than a microwave can explode chicken. If you love a good mystery and enjoy a dangerous flirtation that could break into a killer love scene at any moment, this is a book for you.I’m looking forward to cracking open the third book in the Savannah Martin series. Or rather swiping the page on my Ipad. :)

Savannah Martin would like nothing better than to return to her job selling real estate and put away memories of murder and attempted murder. Fortunately a series of robberies helps until it strikes a little closer to home when her friend and fellow realtor is involved. Unfortunately, so is the man she's kind of interested in, Rafael Collier. Before too long her friend is dead and Rafe is prime suspect material. Savannah has no choice but to do a little investigating on both their behalves. Hot Property is another winner from Ms. Bennet. I loved watching Savannah struggle against her proper upbringing and stretching herself for her friends. Particularly endearing is watching her rail against the restrictions, even as she uses them as a shield to protect herself. The supporting cast is sublime and outrageous, adding just enough misdirection and red herrings to keep the mystery fresh and exciting. If you're in the market for a great cozy mystery, Hot Property might be just what you're searching for. (Sorry, couldn't help the pun)

3.5 stars. In the second installment of the Savannah Martin series, we get to know a lot more about Rafe Collier, and I have to wonder how two people who are as different as Rafe and Savannah are will work out. Or will they? That remains to be seen, but their chemistry is clearly electrifying. Definitely an interesting pair to watch. The mystery this time involves a case of serial robberies that turned ugly when one of the real estate agents who were tied up during a robbery ended up strangled, tied to a bed, after a suggestive comment she made to one of the robbers. To be honest, I can’t remember whether the robberies were ever resolved, but the murder mystery part was definitely more interesting than the Brenda case in the first book. The climax was even better; without revealing any spoilers, I’m amazed at how gripping Jenna Bennett managed to make the face-off with the killer while also including a moment between Rafe and Savannah that was so charged that I felt like fanning myself.Looking forward to the next book!

I am really enjoying this series. In this second installation we see more character development for both our main character and some of the secondary characters. While admittedly sometimes her flimsy denials of attraction for Rafe are transparent , it does make perfect sense for the character to fight the attraction. Here are a few things that makes this a stand out from some of the other mysteries I have read lately . First off you have an actual mystery! In some of the poorly constructed stories I have read of late you have a silly heroine chasing around stupidly trying to outwit the police . In this series Savannah works with the police. She also has legitimate reasons for doing the investigating that she does.Secondly, the main character of Savannah isn’t silly. She has class and dignity , she is not without a sense of humor but she isn’t silly. Lastly there is the romantic angle , which isn’t cheesy at all. This has the heat factor that is necessary to engage the reader and leave them wanting more. I cant wait to read more from this talented Author.

3.75 Not quite a 4, but close. I really wish Savannah would get over the whole Southern belle thing and follow her instincts. I'm pretty sure Rafe is nothing like the hometown snobs think. I'd bet he's working undercover and if Savannah would open her eyes to all the clues she'd see what's right in front of her face. Instead she sees what her snobby high school boyfriend suggests. And because he's supposedly so upstanding no one questions the obvious. I sure hope Team Rafe wins in the next book. I'm starting to want to tear someone's hair out.

Another excellent Savannah adventure. This book largely expanded on the characters developed in the first book and did a great job fleshing them out further. Savannah once again comes across as a relatable character, especially to us Southern girls. I enjoyed the temptation of Rafe mixed with the stability of Todd, although by the end, Todd seriously got on my nerves. The mystery plot was solid and kept me guessing until the end. Another great book by Jenna Bennett!

A good, strong follow up to the first book, A Cutthroat Business, although it was so fast paced it was over before I knew it. Just when I thought she was introducing a new possible suspect, the book was over! Still, I really enjoyed the read and I love the two main characters and I like how I suspect Ms. Bennett is going to redeem the rogue Rafe. I hope future books have Savannah making a few friends along the way and I look forward to continuing with the series.

I really enjoyed the humor, romance, sassiness, and class in this mystery that keeps you guessing until the end. It is a page turner not only for the mystery surrounding the robberies and the murders, but for the sparks that fly between Savannah and Rafe. FTC Full Disclosure: I received a copy from the author and chose it for review.

I personally felt that Hot Property was a stronger book than the first, A Cutthroat Business. The plot was well-paced, the supporting characters were interesting and varied, and the tension between the main characters kept me intrigued. Loved the ending and look forward to seeing how Savannah resolves her issues with Rafe, Todd, and her snooty southern family.

Há qualquer coisa que não cativa tanto como seria de esperar, penso que é a escrita da autora que ainda não atingiu aquele ponto certo. Os 2 livros que li prometem, mas não chegam a cumprir bem o prometido. A ver vamos.
