The PlotWhen Kazura is sent to live in Mizuki's house, she learns that she's really there to become his wife! Furious, Kazura tries to leave, but discovers that she was given as payment for her deceased grandfather's debts. But things aren't what they seem to be in this household--Mizuki can call back people's souls, and Kazura wants him to bring back her grandfather! Maki Fujita's shojo comedy is filled with delicious family secrets, dreamy high school romance, and plenty of spirited fun! When I was reading, at first I thought, okay sure, this is interesting, but then the more I read it, the more I felt like I was reading another of my favourite mangas. It took me a while, but not that long to realise I felt like I was reading Fruits Basket, Volume 01. There are many similar elements i.e. Girl is living with a family that's entwined with a "curse" - like business, the love interest is someone who plays a significant role in the family yet isn't entirely liked by the whole family, and the girl protagonist is unwittingly drawn into the family problems. HOWEVER in saying that, the two series are also VERY different. Unlike Fruits Basket Kazura is taken to live with Mizuki against her will, the "curse" is different, the one in this series is more involved than Fruits Basket where I felt the curse was something that tied the family together rather than the evil kind of curse that if broken will kill someone! And Mizuki unlike Kyo in Fruits Basket is actually the head of the house, but they both have that unwanted status around them.SO comparing these two, I'd like to say, though they are similar, they are both different works and therefore worth reading! The CharactersKazura is not a passive character. She runs away, does anything she can when she can. She hates that she's been taken against a will and I think she's not a bad protag.Mizuki. Brooding, tired, cursed, head of the family, oh, and Kazura's fiance. He likes and will not have anyone but Kazura, but he's sometimes quite harsh to her, yet he's also sweet. Not as annoying as some broody, mean, love interests out there.Supporting characters: They are all great, though I felt some of them were a bit two dimensional. However, because there are so many members of the family that keep popping up, I really did start thinking it was Fruits Basket.SettingJapan, I'm pretty sure!Writing/ArtworkI feel like I should call this kind of artwork as the standard kind of artwork I find in shoujo manga. You know the kind where the girls have big eyes and so on. So the artwork is good. It's the average, pleasant kind of artwork that I enjoy seeing in mangas that I read. The writing is good too. I really like how the story and the images fit together.OverallIt's a good manga on its own. BUT if you're a fan of Fruits Basket and you're looking for something similar, then check this out. I guess I could even guarantee that you'll like it!

This manga starts off pretty slow. I've read through volume 4 and so far I think 1 was probably my least favorite. It wasn't bad, per se, it just takes a while to get into a groove. The plot is pretty unoriginal, but the characters are complex and interesting. I say, stick it out until Vol 2 if you aren't too crazy about 1. As we get to see more interactions with different characters, hear more of other characters' thoughts, and see more of their backgrounds, the series gets much better.

I actually rather liked this series and was disappointed when it got dropped during the Toykyopop debacle. I check scanlations every once in awhile but no luck, It hasn't been completed yet.

--- Platinum Garden 1-15 ---Plot: ...OkGambar: OkPenokohan: OkPlatinum Garden karya Fujita sensei yang sepertinya base plot-nya sebelas dua belas dengan Fruit Basket (katanya). Tapi menurutku Fruit Basket mengambil rute penanganan yang berbeda meski kasusnya hampir mirip. Platinum Garden sendiri menurutku... bagus^^. Oh tentu saja. Ya, saya penikmat ending seperti ini^^ (haha)[8/10]

Sort of like Fruits Basket in that the main character is an overly caring young lady who is adopted by a rich family with strange supernatural gifts. Unlike Tohru, she is very righteous and not afraid to start fights. Fun and engaging.

Light-hearted and adorable, and leaves you wanting more. People are going to think that Fruits Basket is all I talk about but if you liked Fruits Basket, you might like this one too. It has similar 'curse' vibes, but no one turns into animals in this one! (At least not yet)

It was cute. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. Forced to be someone's finace, waking the dead, greedy family, rich snobby kids...truly makings of a great series!

Still waiting for MangaFox to update the next chapter, but while I was reading it I could barely put it down. Similar to Fruits Basket

This title should be a definite consideration for fans of Fruits Basket and Kare Kano.

Disturbing plot and an unhealthy, abusive relationship. The back cover says it's for teens but I sure don't recommend it for that age group!
