Mistletoe Man Reviews
4 Stars ~ After two years of admiration and loyalty, Lindsay felt let down by her boss when he refused to grant special allowances while she dealt with her father's death and the fight for custody of her 9 yr old sister. So when Daniel's wife had gone missing just a few days before Christmas, she'd laughed with the girls in the typing pool, that undoubtedly the Mrs. had "run away from him. Who wouldn't? Daniel McKinley thinks he's wonderful, but he's just a money-mad workaholic." Over hearing her, Daniel immediately fired her. Only Daniel knew how true Lindsay's words were, and two days later, his wife's car had been found on the descent from their mountain home, stranded due to a blizzard, with both his wife and 6 yr old daughter frozen inside. It's now three years later, and 24 yr old Lindsay is working for a property development company. When her boss, Robert, suffers from a burst appendix it's up to Lindsay to fly by helicopter up to Daniel's mountain retreat to convince him to purchase Robert's company. A snowstorm is brewing and when they receive word that the helicopter is grounded, Daniel refuses to allow his caretaker Roc drive Lindsay down the mountain. Lindsay's anxious to get home, her sister, though now 12, can't stay on her own and she's reluctant to send her to their grandparents who she had fought so hard against for custody. With no choice, Lindsay makes the call and assures Christy that she'll be home tomorrow, after all it's only a few days to Christmas and there's no way they'll be apart for Christmas. But the storm continues to brew, and it's now a full blizzard, which according to Daniel could last weeks. Confined together, Daniel and Lindsay call a truce and as the hours pass Lindsay sees again that man she'd once so admired. This is a feel good Christmas-time love story. Ms. O'Brien pulls at heartstrings with both Lindsay and Daniel's painful losses. It doesn't take Daniel long to see the nurturer in Lindsay and slowly her caring nature reaches him. He'd buried his emotions, both of guilt and loss, deeply inside and Lindsay forces him to see the effect that has had not only for him but the people who work for him. Ms. O'Brien skillfully brings her characters to life; I loved Roc, the irreverent caretaker and incurable matchmaker. Though the falling in love happens in mere days, it didn't feel as though it was a whirlwind, so much was packed into those days. Daniel gives Lindsay a truly lovely HEA.
What happens when an ex employee shows up to negotiate a deal a few days before a holiday? A blizzard, an ice storm and romance! What else?Lindsey was fired by Daniel McKinley 3 years ago for some thoughtless words. Now she's face to face with him again, as she tries to close the deal for Hamilton Homes, while her boss, Robert is recuperating in the hospital. This was supposed to be a quick trip, but a fluke snowstorm finds her trapped at Daniel's lodge for the holiday, much to both of their chagrins. Lindsay wants desperately to get home to her younger sister who is stuck staying with their grandparents and Daniel would rather be alone. This is my idea of a dream romance. I always love stories about people trapped together during a storm and this one definitely fit the bill. Having it set at Christmas just made it more special. Loved it!
I absolutely loved the book. The tortured hero the sweet heroine perfect Christmas story
