The first few pages sometimes are a very good indicator if I will enjoy a book or not. I try not to jump the gun, but if the first sentence doesn't grab you...well you're out of luck. Long golden locks was the first thing that irked me, but I can stand a Fabio mental image (Fabio is not my thing...) as long as the characterization is good. The dialogue and action were all a little dramatic and exaggerated. And then there was the Scots dialect. It always makes me cringe, especially when it is done by American authors in romance novels. After a chapter or two in which the author prematurely (or maybe right on time...ack) whipped out the "I am amazed by this delicate yet voluptuous/tough/etc/etc woman. She is something I never encountered before! My man-junk has never ached so much for any woman as it does now! FOR HER!!!" Blah blah blah. I get it. Your love is special and one of a kind and oh! look! we are only at page 30.I did not get far with this one.

Review:As many of you know I am a series addict. I read more in series than I do stand alone books and I think that is because if I truly connect and fall in love with the characters I want to see them over and over again. After I finished Malcolm's book(practically read all night) I immediately dove into Royce's book and after another almost all-nighter (these books are so hard to put down), I found loved this one more than Malcolm's book.My Character Synopsis:Royce, a older Master determined to guard his heart and follow the code then walked in Allie bound and determined to save him from himself and show him that he can love again.Allie is a healer never experienced love and had no plans too because she had to hide her ability from everyone except her closet friends that all changed when Royce leaped into her life. Not to give anything away but this book brought tears to my eyes and there are some funny moments that will have you laughing out loud. For those who have read this book you know what scene I am talking about. There was only one small problem I had and that was a part close to the end of the book.where I was slightly confused, there was alot of stuff going on at once and you really had to concentrate to what you were reading but other than that, it was a good fast read.Would I Recommmend? Yes, Yes and OH Hell Yes! I can't wait to start Aidan's book which I will be diving into as soon as I am done writing this review. So if you love the tough don't get near my heart, stubborn Highlanders , Time Travel, Loads of hot smexy romance this book and series is for you.My rating for this book is 5 out of 5 stars(very high 5)

Oh my, what a whirlwind ride this romance has been.Black Royce is all things dark and sexy, sensual heat drips from every pore. He is a very powerful Master, a warrior able to leap time and faced with the task of protecting innocence and mankind. Royce is the picture of control and one of the most powerful Masters of the brotherhood. Royce has been sent into the future and face to face with his fate…To read the entire review, go to my blog:http://demonloversbookreviewsmore.blo...

This my genre! I adore paranormal romance BUT this was in a word...unreadable. I got through the prologue and dived into chapter one with excitement. It was premature. With an alphabet soup of "agencies" and so many characters that are obviously the heroines of future titles I lost interest quickly. Right away I knew it was a dud for me. The heroine gabby a "Healer" opens the chapter standing nude in a window, current lover sleep as she senses an evil presence she gets dressed & races to the scene of a passion crime (don't ask) all the while sharing the orgasmic experience rme I won't go on. This was thankfully a library book. I won't be looking for any more of Ms. Joyce's work.

Sometimes I expect too much from trashy romance, but this was an especially bad example. The main problem I have is that by page 10 of the book this woman is in love with a man she barely met, slept with numerous times and is obviously overwhelmed with his "Ralph Lauren" pillows than anything else! And she just so happens to not know how to be rejected, having always been coveted and chased after as a modern day heiress. uck. I'm sorry, but Allie was not a well developed character, and it really made me hate her throughout the whole book. Royce, however, was much more believable and enticing.

The second in the Masters of Time series from Brenda Joyce. I liked this installment better than the first, particularly because Black Royce was a more interesting character for me. The heroine, Allie, was just plain stupid, and like many of the chicks in romance novels, does just plain stupid things. Despite these drawbacks, I enjoyed this book.

While DARK SEDUCTION held up better imho. I did enjoy the writing style and setting once again. It was not like treading the same ground even though the same formula was used. Similiar premise and, of course, another Masters of Time master. Overall the story was one worth reading, though it took some time getting through. Most of the story is set in 1400 Scottish highlands.

Book 2 in the Masters Of Time series sets the stage for the next three books as we are introduced to Allie Monroe's best girlfriends the Rose women, Brianna, Tabitha and Sam... This book is the story of Royce, Malcolm of Dunrochs Uncle who we met in "Dark Seduction" book 1 of the series... While I truly enjoyed the story of Malcolm in book 1, this story is so much better.. When the author put together her main characters the one she crafted for Royce so far has turned out to be the most compelling and complex of the Masters! I loved every twist and turn that led us closer and closer to understanding how and why Royce and Allie Munroe come to be entangled in each others lives. All their past secrets come to light one by one and weave a tale both enjoyable as well as emotionally wrenching at times... I look forward to continuing my journey through the past and present for all the characters that I have grown fond of and in the next book especially am anxious to read about Aidan, "The Wolf Of Awe"who is one of the sexiest medieval playboys ever written into a storyline! Follow me on the journey with this series, I guarantee that it is getting better as we go along!

This book starts with Royce who is a Master of Time. The Masters are guardians who protect innocents from evil, sometimes traveling through time to do so. Royce is from Scotland and is the grandson of a Gaelic goddess. He is from the 1400's and he time travels to modern day New York to protect Allie who is a Healer. Demons want Allie so they can use her to read from a magic healing book. To protect Allie, Royce takes her to with him to his home and leaves her with his future self. This book takes some great twists and turns, I found that I liked this one much better than the first Masters of Time book.I look forward to reading the next Master of Time book. This is the second book out of five.

Executed perfectly. I enjoyed reading it; Joyce weaves the fabric of time over and over through different centuries in many parts of the book perfectly. It flowed and it was perfect. Great dialogue, great storyline and great interaction with the characters. I definitely felt some of the emotions like they leaped off the page. I was reminded of another similar series, the Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning. This series is like a mix of the TV show Charmed and the Highlander series. Recommended. 4/5 stars.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for reading a good cheesy romance novel, but this book doesn't even achieve that. The characters are poorly drawn, and completely unbelievable. The female heroine seems to be gunning for saint hood, and the male lead has gone beyond dark and brooding and was more like a petulant child. The writing is overblown, and without the redeeming sense of humor and tongue and cheek feel that might have possibly gotten this book one more star from me. The plot is full of hackyned drama, and overblown action, and in the end I found I just didn't care about any of it.

I'm really liking this series just because the author gives the characters huge obstacles to overcome before putting them together. They have to work at it and even though they're all lusty for each other from the get go they're not thrown together sexually right out the door, emotions beyond that are involved. The descriptions are a tad raunchy (I could have done without the whole "dripping down her thighs" lines that have been in EACH BOOK so far out of three.) But the story lines are solid and I haven't run into a huge historical descrepancies (everything seems realistic so far)

This book was so good, I love the time travel aspects and them going to ancient scotland, but I loved this book because it was a constant battle between Allie & Royce when you knew they loved each other so much but he just wouldn't break. Then finally he did and they got their HEA, awwww so sweet. No really it was really good.

its a lot better than the first book. but just like the first i also dont like the female character here. they dont use their heads well and there are parts in the book where i just want to slap her and try to put sense into her. but the story is ok for me. except for allie being shallow and stupid.

okay... the students in the Freshman play gave me this book as a thank you for helping out and it is absolutely ridiculous. Which is why it is funny. RIDICULOUS. I can't say I actually "read" the thing, but I did skim it for the racy parts and got a good laugh. I'm thinking about sticking it on someone's car to pass it on... someone else deserves to get a chuckle. I'm not greedy.

Had my doubts at first about this book but it started to get better and better. Until I was so absorbed in it i couldn't put it down. Love the spin with the ending, that's what made me love it. Even though I didn't start from the first I am now.

my friends never understood some spell about "fate interrupted" and "fate corrected"... from time to time, something happens that is not meant to be. it tells us that fate will always adjust such errors in history.

3.25 stars! This installment of the Masters of Time brings us the story of Black Royce, Malcolm's (from book 1) uncle. After failing to protect his wife from a demon Royce vows never to trust or love a woman again, but that is until he meets heiress and healer Allie Monroe. She doesn't want love or a man interfering with her healing and the hunting down of evil, which is her calling in life. And then she meets Royce who has come from the past to protect her, as is his task as Master of Time. In a great plot they hunt an ancient and evil demon but also fall in love. A love Royce fights with all his might but eventually has to give in to in all the time-periods he and Allie are together. This is all I'm going to say about the plot and the story because more would spoil the story. The little information you get on him in Dark Seduction doesn't even scratch the surface of the complicated and intense man Royce is. He is not called Black Royce for nothing. He was a fascinating and compelling character in the book and for me he saved the book from being a true disappointment. The heroine Allie, starts of as a lovely, pure and innocent person but when she gets to Royce's time I just couldn't shake the feeling of her being used to getting her way and when not getting it, she became a bit annoying and thus less sympathetic to me.Where I did connect with Royce and his feelings I just couldn't totally connect with Allie. On one page I found her easy to identify with but on the next she would annoy the daylights out of me. I just couldn't combine the selflessness of her healing and her want to heal living beings with her at times selfish behavior. This combined with the lack of intensity I did find in the first book that started the series in a magnificent way leaves me a bit disappointed. Brenda Joyce delivered a tale with a gifted heroine, a delicious alpha hero and a wonderful plot but she lost me with the chronological chaos with the time leaping and the inconsistencies in the heroine's character. Do not get me wrong I loved the book and eventually the chaotic time leaping makes sense when the plot is unraveled but it still was something that bothered and confused me throughout a major part of the book. I really liked the secondary characters, the other Masters, especially Aidan. I think he’s going to be my favorite Master next to Malcolm. Claire and Malcolm also make a guest appearance and I loved seeing them back. But Allie's friends Brie, Sam and Tabby were equally fascinating and in the book it's clear that there is a bigger role for them in the future.
