The Girl in the Lighthouse & All That is Beautiful Reviews
This was actually 2 books in one so it was really long and I thought I would get bored, but that wasn't the case. It was very good and never seemed too long because I was always wondering what would happen next. The author did an incredible job of making the characters so real that I actually felt happiness, sadness and anger as I read. Just when I thought there would be a happy ending, something else would happen to change the course of the story. The author really keeps you on your toes during this one. I also loved that during each chaper there was a foreshadow of things to come but never enough that it gave anything away. It was just enough to keep you reading, yet be shocked at every turn of events. I highly reccommend these books and am looking foreward to reading the third of the series.
You will want to keep reading, this author is very good with cliff hangers. It has its dark moments and it has its cheesy moments, but the two balance nicely. These are two books in one that follows the story of one character from childhood to her old age -that I appreciate. Your not left at the end wondering what happens to all the characters you meet, you know what happens to them all. Once I finished I felt a little lost, like a group of friends just disappeared. They all seem very real. Overall its a great weekend read!
Having bought this book, I feel obliged to finish reading it- but honestly- the style is terribly juvenile- I feel like I am reading The Bobsie twins or Mills and Boon. There is way too much 'telling' and not enough 'showing'. It doesn't help that the narrator and protagonist is a 9 year old girl- who is in love with a fourteen year old boy. Need I say more?
Loved this series just as much as I do V.C. Andrews books!
Good read. Enjoyed
Both very good books! Of course I think I like just about anything that takes place in a lighthouse.
Three books in the series other on Eli's called Sacred Intentions
