Holy shit. Y'all, this is bad. This is the gold medal winner of the Bad Romance Novel Olympics. The platonic ideal of bad. It is so bad I enjoyed every page because I knew it could only get worse, and it never let me down.Okay, so you have the heroine, Ashley. Ashley is a 23 year old college graduate whose list of things she doesn't understand contains the following: business, computers, and bottle openers. No, I'm not kidding about that last part. She is so helpless she has to ask the "hero" to open a wine bottle for their dinner because she CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. Meanwhile, the hero (who for the sake of this review we will call Douchecanoe). Oh, Mr. Douchecanoe. You see, he rilllllllly wants to merge his business with the hotel business of Lady Fails-a-lot's father. Daddy dearest says sure, just marry my useless (albeit decorative) daughter, and business is go. Trouble is, he's a Very Serious Douchecanoe, and Ashley is a Troublesome Free Spirit. You know, the usual businessman/flighty lady conflict.Actually, I feel a little bad for Sir Douchecanoe. Ashley is an idiot. I mean, full stop. She's a like six year old girl in the body of an adult. Everything she does is in full hyper-sparkle mode - until of course she gets her heart broken at which point she develops a spine and moves to San Francisco and joins a lesbian commune - oh wait, no, that's another book. She instead decides to become a perfect little docile housewife because somehow that will make M. le Douchecanoe love her. From this point on it's pretty predictable - Ashley martyrs herself, Senor Douchecanoe realizes he's a big old meanie (once she's pregnant, anyways), and they move to the country because you CAN'T RAISE A FAMILY IN THE CITY. NEVER. YOUR CHILDREN WILL BE AXE-MURDERERS. GAY AXE MURDERERS.Does Daddy Dearest get away with it? Oh yes, because she knows he was just trying to look out for her. Gag. Does Douchecanoe-san ever stop treating her like a small, fragile child? Bien sur que non.Highlight of the book: Ashley finding out her marriage is a sham by accidentally smacking her hand (while TWIRLING) into Herr Douchecanoe's laptop, and knocking the battery out. She figures out how to put the battery back in, but doesn't "understand" computers (or birth control. or breathing. or anything) and "presses buttons" until "lots of programs" appear, one of them being the .pdf of the contract her cher Papa made le Comte de Douchecanoe sign re: marrying her.I fucking love romance, but jesus h christ, this book is why we can't have nice things.

I've often said that Maya Banks has found the perfect recipe to write a Silhouette Desire, a fraught situation and deception and a perfect blend of a hero who starts out as a jerk but is felled by an awesome heroine and best of all he has to work to get her back. This is the third book in the series about four friends and as we've heard in the other two books Devon the hero has been handed a situation, romance the daughter of the man whose company he wants to merge with and he finds it no hardship, Ashley is sweet, impulsive and quite amazing though he does think to himself that she may have to tone it down and be a less exuberant but he enjoys her company and to bring his plan to fruition take her innocence and tops it off with a proposal, Ashley the romantic falls for it thinking that all her dreams have come true and doesn't question why Devon wants he to move in with him and get married soon.Cold, you may think and in a way you may be right but you know about those thick-headed heroes?, who think all logically, well Devon is one of them and even when he pretends he doesn't like how affectionate Ashley is and how she calls him all the time, you know deep down he loves it. And Devon to be honest never wanted to deceive her but instead wanted to tell her the truth about the deal but her father didn't want that and Devon goes along with it, all the while during the wedding his friend Cam warns him that Ashley isn't like him and can be hurt. Then everything blows up on their honeymoon when Ashley reads an e-mail and confronts him. Ashely was a heroine you couldn't help but like she saw the best in people and knew people saw her as naive but she really wasn't only kind-hearted and then her wedding blows up on her face and she sees through the fog of romance that had enveloped her.She isn't impulsive then instead thinks things through, she hates what Devon has done to her but she still loves him and like her, Devon wants to make an effort to try, so she thinks she will rein in her impulses as Devon said and make him try to love her but things as we see don't go so well. She tries to be the perfect wife, cleaning and cooking and at this moment you feel angry for her, you can see how unhappy she is and how she is suffocating her real self, all the while Devon is busy with the changes in his business and tip-toeing around her, giving her space and allowing her whatever she needs to do to cope but things become too much for Ashely and she finally decides that the only person she needs to make happy is herself and at this moment you are rooting for her. While the dumb hero wallows in his mistakes, berating himself for his denseness and all the mistakes he has made, this has to be my favorite moment in a romance, just love it and then he tries to make up for it.Honestly, I loved the book and can't wait for Cam's book.ARC provided by Netgalley.

Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss is the third book in Maya Banks’ Pregnancy and Passion series, and another great story. Like the other books in the series, the plot isn’t terribly unique, but Ms. Banks has taken what would have been predictable, fleshed it out, tweaked it and made it into something distinctively hers. About the book: Devon Carter is all about business. He’s smart, determined and power hungry, and will do whatever he has to do to continue climbing the ladder of success, even if that means marrying William Copeland’s daughter in order to secure a business merger between Tricorp and Copeland Hotels. Marrying Ashley certainly wouldn’t be a hardship; she’s beautiful, loving, and easily managed, so the way Devon sees it, it’s a win-win situation.Ashley Copeland has been sheltered and pampered her entire life. She’s vivacious and impulsive and madly in love with Devon Carter. When Devon asks her to marry him, she’s the happiest woman in the world until, on their honeymoon, she learns that their marriage was the stipulation of a business agreement between her father and Devon. She feels betrayed, and yet, she still loves Devon, so rather than run out, she decides to stay and become the kind of woman Devon needs, even if it means losing herself.I’m a big fan of “heroes who pull their heads out of their asses and finally see the light” stories, and this one definitely fits into that category. There is so much emotional depth to this story that I found myself holding my breath at times, waiting to see what was going to happen next, and how Devon could possibly atone for his actions. It was heartbreaking watching Ashley try to become someone she wasn’t, while at the same time seeing Devon realize that he was in love with the woman Ashley had been all along, not the woman she was becoming. Ashley started out a bit on the weak side as far as heroines go, but really did hold her own by the end of the story. The bottom line: Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss is a story for those times when you need a little more emotional angst and something a little deeper to read. The characters are people you can believe in, care for, and cheer for as they work towards their happily ever after, and breathing a contented sigh when they finally reach it.This book was provided by in behalf of Harlequin Desire.

I've been thoroughly enjoying the "Pregnancy and Passion" series and the third book doesn't disappoint. Ashley's has been waiting for the right man and the right moment, and she believes "it didn't get any more perfect than Devon Carter right here, right now." But what Ashley doesn't know is that her seduction has been carefully planned by Devon, as part of a business merger with her father. When she learns the truth after their wedding, Devon tries to convince her to be "sensible" and "grown up" about the situation, leaving Ashley believing that not only has he been using her, he doesn't think much of her, either.Rather than lose the man she loves and face further humiliation. Ashley decides to see if she can save her marriage by changing herself into the wife Devon wants... no matter what the cost.Banks is very good at taking a familiar, dramatic, category romance set-up and then fleshing it out emotionally so it doesn't feel stale and dated. Ashley's journey from naive optimism to disillusionment to discovering her own value is deliciously angsty, but also plausible and authentic. There's learning and growth for both characters, though I would have liked to have seen a little more from Devon's point of view. I also found his doting hero role overdone: things like adjusting her scarf and cap for her so she won't be cold make him a little too queasily fatherly. But his suffering over the pain he's caused Ashley and his efforts to make it up to her help make this a delightfully cathartic read.(reviewed from e-arc via netGalley)

4.5 starsI was excited to be able to preview this third installment in Maya Banks’ Pregnancy and Passion series. The first two installments were solid 4 star reads for me, but this is my favorite so far.Ashley has a pure, sweet, vivacious personality and her excitement in finding her dream man was a joy to experience. Of course, there would not a story if everything stayed on that path. Devon courts and proposes to her in order to seal a lucrative deal with her father’s corporation. The world is all roses until Ashley accidentally discovers his deceit on their wedding night. It’s a story that’s been done before, but her decision to stay with him and try to make the marriage work gave the story that angsty goodness that I like. She loves him despite his deceit and revelation that he considers her flighty and frivolous. She decides to make herself over into a woman that he could love. The real Ashley begins to disappear along with her zest for life. Devon seems oblivious to the changes in her. With the discovery of her pregnancy, comes the revelation that she deserves to be loved for herself. When she leaves Devon and moves in with her friend, he suddenly realizes that he had lost what he needed to make his life complete. I deducted .5 stars because I just wanted a bit more anguish from Devon before the HEA.Anxiously awaiting the fourth book! This e-book ARC was graciously provided by NetGalley--------------------------------Jan 2016 - Update: Audiobook - 4 stars

I hate to say it, but I love this book.Ashely is a sweet bubbly verging on airhead heroine who adores Mr. Stick up his Derriere Devon with an eye on the prize. Watching Ashley reel in horror over the MoC her father sets up with the man she loves is somehow enjoyable, and that is so sick. Maya Banks has quite the varied style, and I love all of her Pregnancy/Passion books. I don't know what it is about the huge misunderstanding that I love, but there you go.Ashley finally figures out she has a backbone and uses it. Devon does a nice job groveling after Ashley dumps his sorry self.Re-ReadI am embarrassed how much I like this silly, frivolous little romance. Maya Banks re-released this as Tempted which is a significantly less ridiculous title than Tempted by her Innocent Kiss, but the story is still little girl, pink pony romance. For whatever reason, I love the angst, and I like Ashley's transformation.

The first 30% of the book I sat with a knot in my stomach. Angst is a HUGE understatement! I could not enjoy anything about their courtship and wedding knowing what was really happening. I think I would have preferred to be in the dark, but then we could not have Devon's POV. But his POV did not really make him redeemable so I could have done without. Then the bottom dropped out and I hated him even more. The things he said...Plus he lived with his head up his ass expecting her to just get over it. What a f'ing asshole!!! So far in this series, Devon is the least likable Hero, and that is saying something. I really hated what he did to Ashley. And Ashley - she is just so naïve that I find it hard to call her TSTL, even though I did not agree at all with her decision after discovering the betrayal. I am glad she did not fall back into bed with him immediately and even more glad that she eventually stood up for herself. But his act of contrition was not nearly good enough for me. His betrayal was so intentional and callous. Of the three books so far in this series, I believe he is the most unforgivable.I thought very hard about giving this three stars because I appreciated the story, however, unlike the other stories, there was really no mystery. Devon was just a greedy, heartless DICK and I cannot in good conscious rate him higher. Safety Gang Safe

This one just didn't do it for me. Mostly because the storyline was a done-deal with hundreds of different variations in between. And there was nothing spectacular with this one either.Ashley was the daughter of a wealthy businessman with whom Devon had been negotiating for a merger with his own company. And when he was offered the merger with a condition that he take Ashley to be his wife, Devon thought nothing of it and agreed with the terms. Why Ashley's father was adamant to marry her off at the age of twenty three was beyond me. I believe that in today's day and age the word spinsters are very subjective and I'm pretty sure that at the age of twenty three no one is. I always have a bit of an issue with the H/h's age, I'm weird like that (so please don't bitch-slap me). So all in all, not too great of a read.

I have to say I loved this book the most of the 3 I read so far, which is really saying something since I really hated Devon at the beginning. I understood that this was to him simply a business deal but I knew he felt something for Ashley even though he acted so cold. What I enjoyed most was the emotion in this book, the kind of emotion that I think Maya Banks is known for! When Ashley discovers, on their wedding night no less, that her marriage to the man she loves was simply a business deal it completely breaks her heart. It broke my heart to watch her try to be someone else, someone Devon thought she should be, prim and proper, the good little wife. Only to find out that he was already in love the with the impulsive, happy, wear your emotions on her sleeve woman that she always was. It was a joy watching Devon realize his love and grovel for the wonderful woman that he married. This is a sweet romantic series and I recommend it to anyone that loves a good romance story!!***This book was provided to me as and ARC from Netgalley

Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss is most definitely my favorite out of the Pregnancy & Passion series thus far. Reading anything with unrequited love in it has always been one of my weaknesses. I truly sympathize with Ashley in here because while Devon went into his marriage knowing it was a business arrangement with no rules saying that he should love her, Ashley whole-heartedly loves him and wanted to marry him because he the man that she chosed. This third installment by Maya Banks was heartbreaking and very emotional like the last two but I actually felt a connection in this one. (view spoiler)[I hated how Ash had to find out the truth during her honeymoon, after she got married for heaven's sake! That was really cruel. (hide spoiler)]Ever since the beginning, we have known first hand that Devon was not marrying for love. He's marrying Ashley because of a business arrangement for his company to merge in with her father's. Only... the end result was definitely not what he expected. I honestly believe that Devon had started to fall in love with Ashley little by little without even realizing it. When she found out that their marriage wasa farce, he repeatedly told her that he never wanted to hurt her. But is lying to someone truly a way to start a relationship? No absolutely not. And when Ashley begins to change her personality to become "the perfect wife" to Devon's ideal, things take a turn for the worst. In the end, to win back a woman's love and trust, there can only be one solution: you either grovel and beg for her forgiveness, you show her that you love her and that you can't live without her, OR you can do both! Which is why, Devon Carter wins the title for Best Grovelling so far... and you shall see! Overall, I definitely recommend this series for anyone who loves Maya Banks, drama, romance, and some good old fashion grovelling! Last but not least: Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for giving me permission to read this ARC!

This is the third book in the Pregnancy & Passion series. Unbeknown to her, Ashly is used as a bargaining ship in a merger between Devon and her father. Devon is reserved and always in control. The complete opposite to Ashly's unreserved nature. Ashly is a wonderful heroine, full of effervescence, too innocent, too naive for her own good. It is so painful to see Ashly's hurt and disillusionment on her wedding night when she discovers that her marriage is build on a big lie. In order to save her marriage she tries to change herself, to restrain some of her enthusiasm. she becomes more controlled, more guarded, less herself. But she has to stop or risks losing herself in the hope to win the love of a man who ll never love her true self. I loved the group of Ashly's girlfriends. They make a tight knot of unconditional love, moral support and understanding.Devon acts like a total jerk - nothing new here - but the last thing he wants is to hurt Ashly. He likes to be in control and his emotions are all over the place around Ashly. His tenderness towards her betrays his love even when he refuses to admit it to himself. But when he risks losing the best thing that has ever happened to him, he is willing to beg for Ashly's forgiveness and redeem himself in her eyes.

So far I liked this 3rd in the series best. There was angst and growth and unrequited love etc. The hero didn't really do right by the heroine and caused unnecessary problems but he wasn't an ass. It was more along the lines of stupid guy mistakes. He treated the heroine well throughout though and the reader could see he felt more for her than he understood himself. The heroine wasn't a wimp but rather a woman in love trying to make it work before she gave up. Very nice read and I'm looking forward to Cam's story. Well written and fast moving. Love scenes were well placed and well done with believable emotion.I received this from netGalley for review.

Wonderful Intense Emotional read, loved Ash very much,Dev was jerk through half the story but when he realizes what has he done my anger melted and my heart went out to him,he really regretted his doings, absolutely loved the way he made up for the wrong he was doing the only thing disappointing thing was "realization about what had happened and what had he done came a little too late" almost at the end i wanted it sooner other then this absolutely loved the book.Very anxious for Cam's storyRecommend it

Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss is the 3rd book in Maya Banks’ Pregnancy & Passion series. Though I missed out on book 1, I definitely became intrigued with the series after reading book 2, Wanted by Her Lost Love which turned out to be a great read.Devon Carter has always been ambitious. Though he finds everything wrong with the deal that William Copeland forces on him, Devon goes along with the plan and dines and woos William’s only daughter Ashley Copeland, all the while beguiled by her innocence and drawn towards her in a manner that is altogether foreign for someone like Devon. For Ashley, who is blissfully unaware of the machinations behind Devon’s courting, she is head over heels in love for the very first time in her life. Agreeing to marry the man she loves because deep in her heart Ashley believes that beneath that reserved exterior of Devon’s lies a heart that loves her as much as she loves him, Ashley never foresees the ultimate betrayal waiting for her on the very night that her honeymoon is to begin.Devon is devastated when his wife discovers the truth behind their marriage, and though he would rather cut off a body part of his than hurt Ashley, out comes the accusations that hurts Ashley just that much more. But Ashley is a determined woman who embarks on a mission to win the love of her husband even if it means turning her back on who she is deep inside, until the charade becomes too much and so comes her breaking point when everything becomes just too much.Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss started out on a very slow note. But from the moment Devon and Ashley says their ‘I Do’s”, Maya brings in the angst and the overload of emotion that holds on to you until you see Devon and Ashley to their happily ever after.Ashley is the type of heroine that we come across very rarely in romance novels oft late, a time when authors strive to go for the type of heroines who are independent and on a self-proclaimed war to prove themselves to be as competent as the opposite sex. Ashley is the sweet and sunny type of heroine who just makes you smile whenever she comes into the story. Her naivety is not surprising given the fact that she has led a sheltered life, loved for who she is by everyone that surrounds her. But being rejected for who she is by the only man she has fallen in love with leaves its own mark on her and Ashley gives everything she has to make her marriage to Devon work.Devon is a hero who is a bit bewildered in the face of chaotic emotions. He is all about control and whenever Ashley is around, control of his emotions and surroundings is the furthest thing that he is capable of. Devon remains clueless even when he begins to lose the woman that at first drew him to her, the woman whose exuberant nature he starts to miss even though he doesn’t know what it is that he actually craves for. Devon is a lost soul who only begins to find his way towards the woman who makes him feel on top of the world a trifle bit too late, and from then on Devon does the grovelling bit like everything else he does, with dedication and utter focus, his sole aim to win back his wife and never ever let her go.From reading this review one might think that Devon is a heartless SOB, but far from it. Devon is a character you fall in love because of those little things through which he shows his caring and love towards his wife even when he is not ready to show or acknowledge the depth of his feelings towards her. He might want to bury his head in the sand and forget the roller coaster ride his emotions take whenever he sees abject hurt on Ashley’s face, but he hurts right along and wants nothing more than to erase all her sorrows and see a smile upon her face. For those reasons alone, Devon is a character worth giving over your heart to and I found myself doing just that before half way through the story.A wonderful addition to the Pregnancy and Passion series, Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss is a novel recommended for those who love quick, short and sweet reads with a lot of angst and toe curling passion in the mix. Cannot wait for Cam’s story to come out as he sounds exactly like my type of hero. Rating=4/5 Quotes included below the review!

2019-05-15 11:58 for readers BRIEF SUMMARYDevon Carter is close to getting the merger he’s being waiting for but it comes with a price, he has to marry Ashley. Ashley is clueless about the business side of her father’s company and thinks meeting Devon was by chance; until her wedding night.THOUGHTSI am in love with this story. The first two chapters had me pulled into the story as we follow Devon and Ashley life before the wedding. In the beginning, Devon was the take charge alpha male who was conflicted with the decision that transpired between Ashley’s father and himself. Ashley was bubbly, outgoing and trustworthy of everyone, and has this innocence about her that Devon was not use to. I enjoyed the moments leading up to their wedding. After the wedding, everything went down hill. Once Ashley discovered the true intentions behind her marriage it all fell apart. Everyone’s personality was so different and I felt sorry for both Devon as he felt like he was walking on egg shells around his wife and Ashley, as she is trying to become the person she thinks Devon wants her to be. Apart from all this turmoil I thought they still had great chemistry and that’s one of the reasons I didn’t want to give up on them. This story held my interest as I read it in one sitting as the characters had me engrossed with their lives. I’m a bit melodramatic and, yes, I got mushy towards the end because Devon’s epiphany and attempts at reclaiming his wife were simple, sweet and perfect. As this is a series I’m sad that I have been missing out and need to catch up on the previous books.Book 1, Enticed by His Forgotten LoverBook 2, Wanted by Her Lost LoveBooks 3, Tempted by Her Innocent KissBooks 4, Undone by Her Tender TouchStoryline: GOODEnjoyment: GOODIntimacy Level: GOODRomance Novel Junkies

So good! ***Details***I really enjoyed finally getting my hands on this book. I would love to read the rest of the series.I liked how the story unfolded as a whole. I enjoyed that even though Ashley's father stipulated the marriage as a part of the business merger, Devon still liked her. He wasn't all about advancing his career and he honesty wanted to make her happy. Ashley was a sweetheart. She was so optimistic and happy. She loved Devon and couldn’t wait to start her life with him and have a family.Ashley’s father wasn’t even unlikeable! With his health catching up to him, he sincerely wanted his daughter taken care of and not taken advantage of. However, when Ashley finds out the truth on her wedding night, she nearly falls apart. But, with Devon and her family’s harsh words of always being impulsive, she decides to become the picture perfect wife. Despite his buddies and other being able to see the utter depression in Ashley, it takes Ashley announcing her pregnancy and her leaving him before he realizes all that is different and misses the Ashley he married. He finally lets himself admit his love for her and wins her back with the house and dogs she always wanted.

It would seem that Maya Banks' writing does not work for me. I hadn't read the other books in the 'Pregnancy and Passion' series, so I might b missing some backstory here, but anyway, the main gist of the story is that Devon wants to merge Ashley's father's company with his own. The only way Ashley's dad will agree to that is if, without her knowledge, of course, Devon weds Ashley. He agrees. As luck would have it, she finds out (after they're married), and drama ensues The story is about them working their way back to a HEA. The entire story was lackluster for me - wooden dialogue, bland story. the heroine was meant to be a naive, flighty person, but instead, read like a tween girl. This was a person who was immensely silly, not-very-smart, not mature - in fact, most teens should be more mature than this girl. I felt like she shouldn't be marrying anybody. If I were the hero, I'd have found myself someone else to marry. And anyway, he wasn't that much of a catch either. Not a good book.*I received this ebook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

This was a good read. Ashley is wooed by Devon into marriage only to find out on her wedding night that she was just a bargaining chip in the negotiations between her husband and her father. Ashley fell in love with Devon, and found out he wasn't in his new marraige for love. This book takes you on the journey of watching a vivacious woman crumble and become a shell of what she was, just earn her new husbands love. I felt for Ashley. Maya Banks has proven herself as a writer with her Highlander series & her KGI series. This one was a faster read with none of the descriptions given in her other books, so I rated it lower. It is still a good book & worth the read.Never Too Late - Brenda JacksonSienna & Dane's divorce will be finalized in 12 days & they end up getting snowed in their cabin for a few days & rekindle their relationship... GREAT!! Cute!

The third book in Maya Banks' Pregnancy & Passion series. Devon Carter looks at his marriage as a business deal. Probably because it is one. Ashley Copeland falls head over heels in love with Devon, not knowing he doesn't return the feelings. She is kept in the dark on Devon true reasons for asking her to marry him.Not terribly original but it was nice. Also not my favorite of the series but I still liked it.

Review posted: Happily Ever After - ReadsDevon is all set to marry Ashley as part of a deal his soon to be father-in-law came up with. Their companies will merge and in return Devon marries Ashley, so Ashley’s father can be sure that she’s taken care of. Ashley starts out the story as a breath of fresh air. She’s fun, she says what she thinks and she wears her heart on her sleeve. All of that drives Devon crazy, not a good kind of crazy. They have the chemistry and she’s saved her first time for the man she loves with all her heart – Devon. Too bad Devon doesn’t feel the same way. They marry and then the wheels fall off when Ashley finds out exactly why Devon married her. They argue and Devon digs himself a huge hole with Ashley (and me!) by pointing out all the things that make Ashley fun and unique, making them sound bad and the reasons why he can’t and doesn’t love her. Ashley can’t just stop loving him, even after he breaks her heart, and vows to be the woman she thinks he wants her to be.Could she make him fall in love with her? Her family always worried that she was too trusting. Too naïve. Too everything. Apparently they were right. The only person who didn’t seem to think anything was wrong with who Ashley Copeland was, was Ashley herself. And it was becoming increasingly clearer that her judgment stank.I was time for one hell of a makeover. And this is where I couldn’t get behind the story. Ashley changes who she is, from her appearance, her attitude, everything to be a woman that Devon could love. Devon’s too absorbed in work to realize that Ashley is now just a shell of the woman she used to be until her friends and family start pointing out the obvious. Devon realizes a little too late that his feelings for her are much deeper than he originally thought and sets out to win her back.I liked Ashley, I thought she was a fun character early on, full of life and love and not afraid to show it. Devon on the other hand, I just couldn’t warm up to him. It was too little too late for me when it came to him realizing how wrong he was and trying to win her back. The buildup during most of the story was a slow progression, but the ending felt a bit rushed. In a couple scenes, Devon starts voicing all his feelings for Ashley and she’s very forgiving; maybe too forgiving. I found it hard to really get into the story and truly care about the characters. This is book 3 in Maya Banks Pregnancy and Passion series. I haven’t read the first two books and while this certainly works as a standalone story, I kept wondering how much of these two characters were included in the prior books as this book really jumps right off into their engagement. Overall, this was just an ok read for me and I’m not anxious to pick up the first two books in the series. While this story was a fast, quick read, with a heroine I liked at the start - just as she was, it’s not a story that I was able to get fully invested in.

"Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss" is definitely my favorite book so far in Maya Banks' Pregnancy and Passion Series. Both the title of this book and the name of the series describes perfectly the story that unfolded in this book. Ashley Copeland is a young, exuberant, glass half full kind of girl who wants the perfect fairy tale in her romantic life. She believes that Devon Carter is her prince come to help make her dreams come true. While the two have chemistry, a basis for their relationship is a lie. And I can't help but think that Devon is the dumbest coward ever. He was immediately attracted to Ashley, wanting to keep climbing the ladder of success he agreed to a business deal by Ashley's father where the two companies would merge and Ashley's hand in marriage was part of that deal. Cold, cruel, but her father was trying to do this out of love, he sincerely failed. Devon wanted to be upfront with Ashley from the beginning and tell her about this business merger, but he heeded Mr. Copeland's wishes and took the cowards way out. Unfortunately, Ashley does find out about the deal in one of the worst ways at the worst time. Those rose covered glasses are thrown off, throwing Ashely into the harsh reality of the real world. I didn't know if Devon could ever redeem himself. He suggested that they could make their marriage work based on mutual respect without letting something like the emotion of love, or possible lack of it get in the way. I must say that it was hard at times to like the naive Ashely, one couldn't help but sympathize with her about the way things turned out, but she decided to make another mistake, a huge one. Change who she is as a person into someone that Devon wants so that maybe he'll actually love her and marriage could really work between the two.Well, this was a complete disaster, the only good thing about this turn of events is that Ashley decided she didn't need to change and someone who truly loved her will love her flaws and all. Finally, Devon has an aha moment after Ashley confesses that she is pregnant and leaving him... he loved her all along, and not the idea of a perfect wife, but the real Ashely. He makes several grand gestures to win her back and set up their happily ever after together. I hope in the next book we get to visit this couple and what is going on with them. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, both Cam and Pippa are interesting characters and I can only begin to imagine about their trip to forever. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any Harlequin Desire fan or fan of the author. This story is without typical cliches and was refreshing.*I receive a copy of this ARC through NetGalley.

I really liked this story as it was full of angst. However I did feel sorry and even got a bit teary for poor Ashley. Devon persued Ashley and she fell in love with him and was ecstatic with his proposal and agreed to marry him believing that he loved her too - although in all honesty he hadn't said that he did! Ashley is a very bubbly and loud sort of person who is kind and good to everyone. Devon is a reserved character and does not approve of public displays of affection and finds Ashley to be a bit over the top. Although Devon liked Ashley she wasn't the sort of woman he would have normally would have chosen for his wife but he was pressured by her father into romancing, sweeping her off her feet and marrying her or lose his business deal!Although she wasn't 'suitable' wife material he believed that he could change her and turn her into the perfect wife for him. What he didn't count on was her finding out that she was part of a business deal but she did find out on her wedding night and it broke her heart. She decided to stay as she loved him and wanted to make a go of their marriage and vowed to change into the woman he wanted which of course is a recipe for disaster. Over time the bubbly, outgoing, messy Ashley disappeared and morphed into a 'Stepford wife'. Eventually, after finding out that she was pregnant, Ashley woke up and realised that she didn't like/respect the person she had become and couldn't stay and raise her child in that situation so left him.Fortunately Devon also woke up and realised that he missed the Ashley he originally knew - he loved her and wanted her back and made it his mission to show her exactly how much he did love and wanted her. I was pleased to see Devon go through some angst as well as Ashley - quite frankly he deserved a lot more hurt/pain than what he got but I was glad to see them both get their HEA.

Having your Daddy buy your husband is never a good sign. Nor is it a good start to a marriage when you don't know that your Daddy stipulated the man had to marry you in order to close the deal on their business merger. Ashley is the little princess who is tricked into marrying Devon. When the truth is revealed, it crushes her. This trope is an old one yet Ms. Banks still makes it fresh in a way that I enjoyed it. Ashley is no spoiled princess. She's a sweet and fun loving woman. Her spontaneity is the best thing about her. Devon is not exactly a stick in the mud. He is a determined man who earned his success through hard work. Their lack of communication and false start is the downfall. It's a train wreck that both Devon and the readers know will happen yet we can't stop it. I liked Devon. He wanted to do the right thing and he's not a bad guy. Yes he made some stupid mistakes and he didn't really get to know Ashley. I'd say the same thing about Ashley. She made a foolish mistake and compounded it. Where other stories go south for me, Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss did not because Ms. Banks cleverly designs these characters. These characters aren't victims. They don't play the woe is me card. They are sad and regretful, but they push on to try and make it better. I think this is why I enjoyed the story so much. I liked both Devon and Ashley who weren't flawless yet they were perfect for each other.Plus, Ms. Banks creates beautiful scenes and her stories just flow so well. This was a sweet story which moved fast with a guaranteed happily ever after. I recommend this story to romance lovers who want a happily ever after despite a very rocky start.*Review Copy from*

Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss was a satisfying contemporary romance. The main female character, Ashley Copeland, was very sweet and likeable. I found Devon Carter, the main male character, to be misguided, but liked him from the beginning anyway. The storyline kept me interested, and I enjoyed the book.Ashley Copeland is thrilled when the man she loves, Devon Carter, asks her to be his wife. On their wedding day, Ashley inadvertently finds out that marriage to her is part of a business deal with her father. She is crushed when Devon admits that he doesn't love her, but even more so when he outlines all of the ways that she annoys him with her bubbly, ebulent personality. Ashley determines to make the best of the horrible situation she finds herself in by recreating herself as a reserved, proper wife. The stress of her situation and the pressure of trying to make herself into someone she is not, start to undermine her health. Devon truly likes Ashley and tries to take care of her when she has debilitating migraines, but he is blind the the fact that her unhappiness with him and the stress of the situation are making her ill. When Ashley finds that she is pregnant, she realizes she can't go on in the same manner any longer. She acknowledges that she liked who she was, and not who she is trying to be, and that she can't go on being Devon's wife any longer. Devon will have to search himself and face his emotions if he and Ashley are to ever have a chance at happiness. This was a touching story, and I read it in one sitting. It was impossible for me to put it down. I liked the characters and enjoyed reading their story. I received this book as an ARC through Netgalley.

This one is my favorite so far and a large part of that is due to Ashley. Her character has the option of annoying me, but instead she charmed me. I loved her zest for life and how she shook up Devon's life, it was just what he needed. You knew the situation of how the marriage was going to come out and it was going to be ugly, that it happened on her wedding day was bad luck for Ashley. Part of me was mad at her for attempting to work things out, I would have rather she just washed her hands of him. I was mad at Devon after that got home. Ashley seemed to shrink more and more each day and he didn't notice, he was so clueless. After Ashley found out she was pregnant I loved her choice. Her confrontation with Devon was spot on and did just what it needed to, knocked him on his ass and made him really think what was important to him. I loved seeing Devon get a new one ripped by so many people, for him to realize that he needed to do something really big to make Ashley realize that the words that he said were true. What Devon picked was perfect for Ashley and showed her just what his words said.

Devon'S marriage to Ashley is one of convinience. In order for Devon to merge Tricorp hotels with Copeland's he should marry Ashley. Ashley's father is willing to marry her off to Devon. Later on, during their honeymoon, she comes across evidence of what had transpired between her father and Devon, though at this time Devon has seriously began to like her, like her bubbly personality. He realises this as he notices the change in her. Ashley tries to change herself to fit the kind of woman she thinks Devon wants as a wife. It was really sad to see her going through this, suffering. Later Devon, after realising how much he hurt her, tells her he wants her back, her real self. The real Ashley. It was good to see this transformation, from a man who was only interested in what he would gain materially, to one who is hopelessly inlove with someone who, at first meant nothing to him, but a way to enhance his business.Really looking forward to read more from the author.

Good book. I really liked Ashley. She was such a cheerful, enthusiastic person. I thought that she was exactly what Devon needed. I liked the fact that Devon hadn't wanted to deceive her. I thought her dad had his heart in the right place, wanting to make sure she was taken care of, but his execution stunk. I could see that Ashley was wiggling into Devon's heart, but he didn't realize what it meant. He just kept feeling off balance and blamed her for it. When she found out about the deal, he went after her for all those qualities. She then tried to change to get him to love her. When he finally realized what he had done, he knew he had to fix it. I loved his "go big or go home" moment. I'm looking forward to Cam's story next.

4.5 stars! This was fully of angsty goodness, and you all know I love angsty goodness!! The guys in this series have been serious jerks, and I think Dev takes the cake for jerkiness. But good grief, in all his jerky stupidity I felt sorry for him...not as sorry as I felt for Ashley, but there was pity there for him once he realized what he'd done. Devon finally pulled his head out of his ass and he made a grand gesture that was totally swoon worthy; and since Ashley never stopped loving him, it was more than perfect! This put Maya Banks as an automatic buy author for me. I'm going to be going crazy till the last one in the series comes out.

I liked this 3rd book in the series. In the beginning Devin was such an ass hat and I really didn't like how cold blooded he was toward everything especially Ashley. I also didn't like Ashley a lot either. She was just too perky and did need to grow up some. I felt so bad for her though by how she was deceived and tried to make herself someone she thought Devin could love. I was happy how both of them changed for the better however I did think Devin needed to suffer a little more than he did. LolI am now eager to read Cam's story.***I received this as an ARC from NetGalley***
