What can I say? These cards are a hoot. Booth creepy and campy, but they're accurate as well. The card stock is nice and heavy so you can get a good, healthy shuffle. The book is hysterical, but pretty spot on, so armatures can do a decent reading with these cards.I love them. They crack me up.

This deck is very 1950's but with zombies, which is very reminiscent of Fido. Like Fido it is hysterical, weird, but all around great. The illustrations are a very well done photo montage of Americana meeting the terrible tragedy that is the zombie apocalypse. Each card contains a great deal of symbolism that is common to that era with it's use of cold war imagery and technology. I also particularly want to note the Magician and the High Priestess cards. These were very well done because depending on your zombie story, zombies are usually created by science, or magic and these two cards recognize that.I enjoyed the very idea of this deck as it ties in the idea of mortality, quick exchange of information, with a very in your face attitude. It has a great tone that you will not find in a more serious tarot deck. The Zombie Tarot is also commendable for not de-fanging the monsters. There is always that undercurrent of danger when there are zombies about in this deck even in the more cutesy cards. When it comes to tarot the cards must contain all the symbolism it can so that the reader and the client can understand the meanings of the cards to give a good reading. As a tarot reader, I must point out that the symbolism in the cards doesn't always at times relate to its meaning that has been established for centuries. This could makes things quite difficult for a tarot reader who is established and knows his/her cards backwards and forwards. This discrepancy with the symbolism may cause misunderstanding in the card's meaning for a client. For those that don't read cards for others, many clients jump to conclusions based on the card's image until the reader either agree or clears up the meaning for them. For instance many people get scared if the Death card appears. The Death card is not a bad card and actually represents change. However it has a bad reputation due to Franciscan monks a few centuries ago misunderstanding that the card.As a zombie fiction lover and a tarot lover I couldn't wait for this deck to come out! I had it on hold way before release date and then Quirk Books contacted me and I couldn't have been happier! I am so glad that I was able to see this deck up close, have fun with it and work with it. I gladly give this deck a three rating. As a zombie fan I would highly recommend this deck! It has all the wonderful and terrifying things that make up the zombie genre. As a tarot reader this set was great fun and a definite must-see but I wouldn't recommend it for serious use. If you love zombies, campy humor, or 1950s style ads, this is The Zombie Tarot deck for you. The 78 card deck comes in a sturdy box that looks like an ammo box when you are taking off the lid. An instruction booklet is provided for those who want some guidance in how to conduct a reading. A description of the major and minor arcane are included as well – so you will know just what they mean for your reading! At the end of the book there are a few advertisements too. You know – for those items you just know you need like Zombigone: “Sufferers From the Walking Death use Zombigone to feel ALIVE again!” I’m sure knowing these items are available will come in quite handy. The cards themselves are masters of 1950s style art, with zombies added in of course. A favorite, The Wheel of Fortune, shows a zombie up on a knife-throwing wheel. The description of the card tells you this: "Taking the Wheel of Fortune out for a spin may result in more than a little dizziness. Sure, some things are out of your hands, but you’d be silly to leave your fate to chance. You control more of your destiny than you think. Opportunities are headed your way. Don’t try to fight it just go with the flow."Another, the Six of Cups features a precious little girl all dressed up with her little zombie boy friend. "Ahh, the carefree days of childhood! No zombie plagues, no hiding in abandoned houses, and your best friend was always at your side. Well, there’s good news: someone from your past may soon arrive for a visit. Just don’t mistake a friendly kiss on the cheek for a zombie gnawing off your face."This deck will help you with the undeniable impending zombie infestation or zombie apocalypse if you will. It will guide you in the correct actions and help you remain calm in a time of turbulence. The Zombie Tarot is a “prediction/protection” resource providing “insight and ammunition for surviving the undead uprising”. Adding this to your stockpile of ammunition and supplies hidden in the basement, attic, or between your walls is a necessity to ensure your future.Reviewed by Jessica for Book Sake.

All I know about tarot readings I learned from watching movies/tv, so I am almost positive I know nothing about doing a proper reading. However, when I received my copy of The Zombie Tarot in the mail I sat down and read through the manual and then began scanning the cards...hours later I was ready to attempt a reading. I say hours because the cards are so amazingly detailed that I had to spend time scrutinizing each one at length. The manual in The Zombie Tarot gives you several card layouts in order to conduct your reading. I choose to use the 'Gravestone' layout as it seemed most fitting to a reading for surviving the undead. Here are the meanings behind 3 of the 6 cards I drew:Card #1 The Knight of Cups: Romantic*Adventure*Moody - He's the one with the ready smile and a surfboard underneath his arm. A natural charmer, the Knight of Cups is always ready to schmooze-and always keeps one eye on the exit. He can be fun to have around, but his mood will change like the surf, and he's often likely to steal more than a kiss. Watch your heart, literally.Card #3 The Star: Recognition*Inspiration*Achievements - You're on the right track for the important things in life while good luck and a fresh attitude bring new opportunities. Take a minute to revel in your accomplishments and then move on to the next level of awesome. Others look to you for inspiration and guidance while scraping zombie goo off their shoes . What's your plan?Card #6 The Sun: Success*Enlightenment*Hope - Sweet success! The morning sun has risen and the rescue teams have arrived. After foiling a hostile takeover by the undead you've earned a one-way ticket to a safer place. Now it's time to make plans for the future: consider traveling to warmer climates or getting a new job. There's good money in corpse disposal nowadays...The Zombie Tarot is perfect for the next time you're with a group of friends, sitting around watching Night of the Living Dead and discussing who has the best plan for surviving the uprising. Don your scarves, bangles, baubles and crystal ball and get ready for a fun night of reading the cards. The cards will speak the truth as to who will survive and who will not.

From Lilac Wolf and StuffI know Zombie's are all the rage right now, so a Zombie Tarot isn't too surprising. But this is such a unique spin. The art has a 1950s post-atomic-bomb-apocalyptic feel. It was perfect right after the Housewives Tarot. They balance each other. It comes in a pretty heavy-duty cardboard box similar to the Housewives Tarot. The cards are made from a thick cardstock that seems like it will last forever!I adore the artwork but the numbered cards didn't always make logical sense. Look at the Seven of Swords above, there are no swords or knives, there are 8 zombies...see, there's no number tie-in. I'm not enough of an expert to know if this is a problem or not, after all the cards are clearly labeled. And from what I've read in the booklet, the pictures can pull you toward their meaning. It's a little gory without being too off-putting. These are so kitschy, you just gotta love them even if you don't read the tarot. But what better deck to learn from than one that makes you laugh and you enjoy looking through. In one tarot book I've read, the author says you should play with your cards to learn them better. This deck encourages much play, even my children keep digging into it, and they have their very own tarot deck.

When I first bought this deck, I was attracted to the images. I like the darker sorts of tarot and this one appealed to my personal tastes. As expected, with a tile of Zombie Tarot, the imagery does not follow traditional standards. However, the deck does follow the standard 78 card tarot format, with 21 major arcana cards and 4 suits of minor arcana cards. At first, I found it difficult to connect to the deck, but as I explored the cards, I learned how the imagery related to tarot and now find them a delight to read. The images connect to your emotional response to being in an apocalyptic setting to help you determine the message being given by the card. They truly are a deck of "Insight and Ammunition". Armed with the Zombie tarot, you will improve your chances forecast the best possible action to help save yourself!Overall, this deck has made it as one of my new favourites. Once becoming familiar with it, it is easy to read. While it may not be the perfect beginner deck, a beginner should be able to pick up and interpret the symbolism used with a little practice. I would recommend this deck - both as a useful tool and a collectors item.Read my full review here: Zombie Tarot Review

This deck is so much fun. It is by the same people who brought us The Housewives Tarot deck a few years back, the same tongue-in-cheek idea. Great for those who collect decks, horror and zombie items, or just have a wonderfully twisted sense of humor.Like the Housewife deck, the Zombie deck uses late 50's early 60's imagery to personify the cards, very Night of the Living Dead retro look. Differences in the Zombie Tarot and the basic Rider Waite deck other than some of the imagery is the minor arcana has different symbolism that is used for the pentacle suit. In its place we have the hazard suit. Other than that the deck is a traditional Tarot deck.

File under: tarocchi + vintage style + anni Cinquanta + gli zombi + humour. Ottima alternativa ai giochi di società natalizi. Le carte sono stupende, curatissime, piene di dettagli... squisite proprio come il vostro cervello.

Love this deck and the book, while not very in-depth, is pretty good.

These are actually tarot cards and not a book, but I use them as bookmarks -- a role they play adequately.
