Twice widowed, he now lives with a few servants and his faithful dog Spark in a calm English village. Alastair feels an instant connection to Tristan Fairworth, stronger than he had with either of his wives. I am not a fan of historicals in general, but I decided to give this one a try.I didn't feel much for or from the MC's. Part of that is of course the way they talked and conversed with each other, but I didn't really see a relationship between them.Alastair was very lonely and I did see him making efforts to get close to Tristan, he would visit and bring gifts, but I never saw Tristan make any kind of overture towards Alastair.Even when revealing his feelings, Alastair had to go first, the ending is open for me, even if they promise to stay together, the time in history makes that difficult and since it wasn't really touched upon I'm not sure what they plan or if Tristan is going to start making an effort too.

One of those stories that won't stay with me for long.

The story was enjoyable even if short. Somehow Tristan didn't show his true feelings for Alastair. If he even had them. I didn't see or feel it at all. Alastair was the one who was always visiting Tristan and it was never the other way around. Which didn't give a reader a feel for Tristan as being truly in love with Alastair. Anyway it was a shorty.

This was a solid "average." I wasn't wowed, though it was sweet and enjoyable. It's super short - it only took me about half an hour to read it. It was fun to read a M/M period piece, though! *Special thanks to Dreamspinner Press for the TweetAway!

Note: Free from Dreamspinner Press (October Ganza's Tweet Away).EDIT: Re-read on July 2014. I... don't know why I gave this book 5 stars, I mean, I still like it but not that far. So, sorry but I have to change my rating to 3,5 stars.

3.5/5Once I figured out it was a historical romance the dialogue made a lot more sense.

It's not a bad short story but I won't remember it for long. I'm not a fan of historical books during this period of time so it had not much of a chance.

This was a good little historical story about two lonely men trying to become less lonely.

Interesting short historical. Slow build-up to the relationship of the two MCs that was nicely done.
