Okay but not as great..I loved book one. It had a lot of actions and it showed the emotions of the characters. This one was a lot of telling from the h finishing high school to being in college. It felt liked the author just want the h to get old so she can be with her love. I felt cheated on this book. It was boring. The actions were at the end but I think this book was just a filler. It was like the h passed her birthday really fast in a narrative storytelling. This book was an opposite of book one. The ending was a major cliffhanger. Didn't like how weak and powerless the h in the end.

My ThoughtsI really enjoyed this one book one was good but this one was awesome. Calli really grew up in this one her character was astounding in this one she went from a backwords yet smart ass girl to a true heroine in this installment. Calli learned to control her abilities and emotions so much more in this book. Lorena you have left me wanting to read more in the Unaltered Series. Lorena has created a world that is truly believable. Her writing is smooth and flowing in this book. Calli soon discovers that there are other abilities out there that the other clans were not aware of. When she met Brand she realized that there was something different about him. That is when she and others become aware of this new ability. Brand is a Repeater he can change things as long as it is within in a two minute time frame. That ability aids him a lot for he has a thing for girls which lands him in numerous fights so being able to repeat he walks away unscathed but it does take a toll on him. Brand’s ability also aids Calli and the other clans against Justin a rogue runner from The Runners Clan who is power hunger. He wants to possess the diamond he is unaware of the true power and that it will lead to his death.

This is the second book in this series. I think I liked it even better than the first book. I love the powers and the back story of where they came from and how things in this world work. I love the characters the way the story moves. I even love the romance, but I do have one complaint. The author isn't very good at writing kissing scenes. She describes the love in their eyes and their loving thoughts about each other, but then the kiss happens and there is no feeling. Saying and then they kissed is such a cop-out. She does very well with the rest. I guess she just needs to spend some time thinking about the emotions and feelings of kissing. It doesn't have to be sexy you just need to feel the love and not just read about it. Anyway that is my feelings about the subject. Otherwise I love the series and am hoping she gets it before the series is over.

I think I liked A Diamond in My Heart even better than the first one. That rarely ever happens to me and I was pleasantly surprised. I really appreciated the maturity of Calli and her mentoring of Brand. I saw a lot of growth with both characters. I also enjoyed the new things I learned about the powers and how people can use them for good or for evil. It will be interesting to see how the author keeps the adventure going while also tying everything together. I am excited to read the third installment in this great series.

It was very good, my only reason for not giving it five stars is it was not long enough...... The Unaltered Series book two. Using her inherited powers, Calli Courtnae detects a confusing cosmic power in a classmate who sets his eyes on her. Maetha assigns Calli to investigate the young man and teach him of his new world. Before that can happen, she'll have to determine what his power actually is. At the same time, someone is systematically kidnapping the clan leaders who wear the magical amulets.

After reading the first book of this series, A Diamond in my Pocket, I had to immediately download the next three. This book was a slightly slower read for me than book one. The pace was good, but this lacked the thrill and urgency I felt with the series starter. I think part of my problem was I didn't care for Brand so it was hard to be sympathetic to his character. And while their were some advances in the story line, it seemed to take to long to get there. I'll continue the series, as I'm invested in Chris and Calli's characters.

Love this series immensely! I was really surprised when I downloaded the first book for free, and it was actually good. I was not expecting it, but it was! As soon as I finished the book I had to go and immediately buy the next one. The books are really captivating and you never want to put down the book. EVER. I can not wait until the next book is out. I am looking forward to it, and once the date that it will come out is released, I will definitely put it on my calendar!

This a fun book. Short, clean, funny insights on high school and college kids. I like that she had the time span covered in this book. I think that is a mistake a lot of ya/na writers make. All this love and danger and intrigue and betrayal all happen in a month?! Really? This spaces out the book on a timeline where some life actually happens. I thought it was fun and I liked how brand was kept plutonic instead of going for the stereotyped love triangle drama.

WowCouldn't put it down. I just wanted to know what would happen next. The mystery of what Brand can do, the program, the shards, Freedom, all so intriguing. The one part that really made me snicker is when Maybe a talks about people wanting to disconnect, I don't know if I can envision a future where people don't want hi speed access to information.

Purchased this one shortly after finishing the first book in this series. Interesting story, it's done in first person as is the first book. I liked the first one so much, I had to read this one as well. This book seems to do more building of the storyline. You get more development of the main characters. It's a good read, and I did enjoy the book. Can't wait to see more of this series

I liked this even more than the first. I love the way Calli has embraced her powers and the world that she is now apart of. The new characters Freedom and Brand are great additions to the storyline. The story was fantastically developed and executed. I loved having Chris and Calli together again. They are a great couple. This book is awesome and I can't wait to continue the series.

I am pretty sure I like this book better than the first. I like that the characters can be friends and the author does not feel the need to add in drama unnecessarily. It was fast paced and a quick read.

This is the continuing saga of a group of teenage superheroes. It’s a quick read that sweeps you along. It’s only after the story ends that you wonder, “What was the point?” Apparently the point was good versus evil. It is escapism at it’s best.
