Scott wants us to deliver a message to his nephew, once we find him. So off we go to England, all expenses paid. Royal is sure we can squeeze in a little sightseeing. Royal is ever the optimist. England is very confusing. To begin with, not all Brits seem to speak English, and what they eat . . . oh my goodness. Then there is the investigation – finding the client’s long-lost nephew is not as easy as we supposed, and as usual, I am distracted by dead people who could use my help. And in ancient Little Barrow, when a creature of myth and magic cries out its pain, only Royal and I can hear.Young Paul Norton is missing, and he’s not the only one. Is our helpful innkeeper really a witch? Why did an upstanding member of the community run down and kill a seventeen-year-old boy? With the assistance of some uncooperative British ghosts, we’ll figure out what’s really going on, and bring peace to a demon on a distant shore....

Another great story in this series. I just love Tiff and Royal. This one taking place in England with some funny little language quirks..."I thought Brits spoke English". Dead people as always, a murder mystery and a few surprises! Very enjoyable!

I am somewhat disappointed in this fifth book. It was pretty bland and the never-stopping lavishing on Royal was annoying. Yes, I know he is this uber handsome guy whose allure is unbelievable! Can we stop panting after him? :-)The plot revolves around a mystery in England. It did read at the same time cute and clichéd. The murders thread was obvious, in a 'classic' kind of way...The Lorraine affair was baffling to say the least. What was her purpose except as a deus ex machina to allow the ending?I am also confused by the Elemental. Why was he introduced into the story?

Not a bad story, but it does wander a little more than it must. I always feel suprised about 90% of the way through this author's stories, because they feel like they should be done there, but there is lots more to go. It seems to me that the tension should be maintained till the real end. Oh, and unrelated to the story, I'm a little puzzled by the author's profile picture which gives us a view of both her own and her Scotty dog's backside. Not sure what the message is there, but I did note that her hair is trimmed very evenly at the back.

I was somewhat disappointed with this book. I felt like the author spent more time ridiculing the British and their (arguably) strange cuisine, than the actual murder mystery, which wasn't that interesting to begin with. And I never fully understood the demon/elemental story. Was it a separate entity or a Sharp? Oh well. At least Carrie brought something new to the Shade world...

I hate to say it, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as the others. The overall tone of the book didn't feel right. the romance between Tiff and Royal was the main focus of the story which made the actual plot seem less important. By the time anything interesting happened, the book was almost over. Hopefully the next one will be better.

This was more crime story, less fantasy (although the paranormal is part of the story), and even more suspense. I couldn't put it away!
