First a disclaimer. I received this book for free. I say that not because I'm trying to be honest in my review but because I really don't want people to think I actually paid for this. I've got enough problems already.Good satire come from great novels. Bad novels make for not so good satire. In the case of Fifty Shades of Gray, how do you make jokes about something that was so excruciatingly terrible. We can't all be MST3000. I didn't think Fifty Shades of Silver and Socks was very funny but it was better than the one-star rated novel it parodied. Hence, two stars. I do admit that the idea of a hot babe having a hockey fetish ("He shoots! He Scores! Go Flyers") is pretty funny.

** 3.5 " GO FLYERS" STARS** Not much of a plot.... nor was I expecting one. Mormon and Bea are comical, kinky and strangely compatible. I'm not even mad there's insta-love. Kudos to you Phil Torcivia . On to book 2 Fifty Shades Shadier .For more reviews, Free E-books and Giveaways

I'm not even sure I want to admit to reading this one. If you see this and are tempted because the parodies can be funny, just walk away. For started, even a parody needs substance, but this book is so short. It is also lacking any reasonable amount of plausibility. The author completely fails at connecting his readers to the story.

Mormon Silver is a 50ish silver sock obsessed man who does not seem to have had a lot of sex in his life. Beatrice Plastique is a hockey obsessed younger woman who seems to have had nothing but sex in her life. Can these two wacky kids make a go of it and find love in a wasteland of bodily fluids?I have not read "Fifty Shades of Gray." I have read countless romance and erotica novels and this story was perhaps a perfect overview parody of all of the genre as a whole. As I sit here thinking about what to write in this review, I find myself laughing at the many euphamisms used for varied body parts. My absoulte favorite line in the book is when Silver says to Beatrice that he has "one hungry Kindle" as she's agreed to give him a $25 Amazon Gift Certificate for bringing her to orgasm three times in a day. This may be a job I need. LOLAs I finished this book I almost wanted to read the series it parodies just so I can get the full impact of the jokes but there was no need. The read was compact and funny and I'm going to recommend it to the people who keep telling me that I need to read the Fifty Shades series. You should pick this one up today!

    - My Description -Mormon Silver contacts Beatrice Plastique in hopes that he can interview her for his blog. He meets her & that is when the sexcapades begin.I don't want to give anything away. Just read it! - My Review -Wow, I was kinda surprised how much I enjoyed this short story. This is book 1 of 3, concerning Mormon Silver and Bea Plastique. I'm also surprised the rating on Goodreads isn't higher. This book was hilarious. This book is a parody on 50 Shades of Grey.I have not read 50 Shades of Grey, but you don't need to have read 50 Shades of Grey to understand the humor and enjoyment of 50 Shades of Silver hair and socks.I will definitely be checking out book 2 and 3 of this series!

He did not just go there...oh yes, he did! Mr. Torcivia has once again taken his readers on an exciting journey; this time it's middle-aged porn with a plot. One cannot help but laugh at the shenanigans the two characters, the wild Bea Plastique and the cunning Mormon Silver, get themselves into throughout the course of their courtship. Perfect for the reader looking for a bit of naughtiness but not too much. It's quite all right to kick back in your Snuggie, sip some wine, and giggle through all of the sex scenes.

Parody of Fifty Shades of Grey. It tries to be funny but fails terribly.

My thoughts;Read this during a game of football, started and finished in an hour.It was rumoured to be funny so I thought I'd give it a go.My advice is don't waste your money on it, it's poorly written, there's no story and even the sex bits are limp

I received the book because I wanted to do a review but, the author was kind enough to send me the whole series. Great guy! When I first saw the title I was like: Here we go someone is already trying to recreate the Fifty Shades of Grey Series and I was not sure that the author would be able to make me love the series the way I did Christian Grey (sigh)... Anyways back to the story. Bea and Mormon. It was quirky, quick, and fun and I finished within 45 minutes. I give the author props for going for it and think that if anyone has the time they should read this quick read. Thanks Phil for being so sweet and giving me the opportunity to read your work.

Funny, smart and SEXY!Goodreads should really allow 6 stars ratings because this parody deserves an extra star in all departments. FSoSHaS by Phil Torcivia (keep this name in mind 'cause this guy rocks), is extremelly funny like laughing to tears and stomach cramps kind of funny, smartly plotted, well executed, well written and, most of all, deliciously sexy in a playful and hot sort of way. It went down very smoothly, it made me laugh, giggle and blush like a glass of fine sparking wine. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.

Only takes 30 mins or less to read but I love the humor. Especially when the author included a hyperlink to Amazon for the "love glove" in the writing. Funny stuff. Don't be expecting any sort of plot. This book is nothing but poking fun of the basic elements of FSOG. And the author writes humor well enough you laugh out loud.A little pricey for such a short read but compared to the kindle pricing for the repetitive writing in the real trilogy its not horrendous.

When I purchased the book, I confused it with Fifty Shades of Grey...However, Phil did a very good job in putting together a quirky sex drivenlove story of a male obsessed writer who interviews his soon to be overwealthy (?)sexed lover. The story is driven by Mormon's infatuation with his Ms. Plastique andher over adventitious sex test - which Mormon passed.Love comes in many ways. This sitcom worked for me.

There are some mixed reviews on this series and took me awhile to get it. I basically got it based on the reviews on Amazon. While some found it funny, I found it blah. I didn't even giggle. I know it is suppose to be a parody and I did read the "original" Fifty Shades and I just don't see the funny parts on this series to burst my tummy into laughter. It is an okay read but I rather give it a miss.

Why read a book when the author can not come up with his own plot. Why does the author have to ride the coat tails of a different author? Strange that the author cannot take a negative review. He only wants positive reviews. He connects with Someone at Amazon and get's them to remove the reviews. I wonder how long this one will last? Sorry Phil it is not my place to tell you the errors I found in your book. If you want to see the errors I suggest you pay someone to find them for you!

This book was downright awful. I was really hoping for more of a book feel. Instead it is just words, no descriptive details, just words. It really took away from the book and even though I laughed... I cant say it was a 'book'. I wouldn't read it again and I wouldn't recommend it to many people.

Never read 50 Shades of Grey, but picked this one up assuming it's a spoof. All in all pretty funny. The two main characters have some very unique and interesting fetishes and fantasies. Quick read and entertaining, though I don't think I'll continue with the series.

Fifty Shades... it seems to be everywhere, fueled by the popularity of the Fifty Shades Trilogy: Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, Fifty Shades Freed 3-volume Boxed Setseries that swept the market and ignited a reading frenzy among women. I am sure it helped ignite a few other frenzies for some men in the world too, as the books became viral and nicknamed mommy porn. Now, they have even finally cast the characters to make a feature film.Shocker folks, I did not jump onto the bandwagon, nor did I get hooked on the original series, much to my husband's dismay I think. This version of Fifty Shades is maybe not as sultry as that other series, but it is definitely a hot tamale of it's very own. Torcivia writes a wickedly hilarious love story that has some super sexy twists. When a man in the "autumn of his life" with a signature style of wearing silver argyle socks finds himself attracted to a mere 33 year old, can it develop into more than an interview?Essentially a parody of the original series, it is not a ridiculous rip off, which so many parodies become. I found a delightful tale, a very well written classic, and start to its own series. Character development is spot on, and the tale is told with quick wit and solid plot. Sure, might not seem realistic, but is that other series any more so? I look forward to reading the rest of the tale. My favorite thing... the awesome selection of quotes at the start of each chapter. I have also added Torcivia's other series to my reading queue. My vision of Mormon... Nicolas Cage

I admit to never reading 50 Shades of Grey (although I did read Twilight and we all know how THAT plays into this money making equation and I do know the general gist of FSOG). I admit that I probably never read it either. HOWEVER, I'm always up for a good spoof. When I read Romance Novel by PJ Jones (which made fun of Twilight directly) I laughed so hard that I found I've been missing out by never having read spoofs before.Enter Fifty Shades of Silver Hair and Socks. I admit it. Between the name, what it was making fun of, and the cover I had to take a peek. This turns the tables. The POV character, Mormon Silver is the one becoming obsessed with the female, Beatrice Plastique. There are some really good laughs in the beginning. One had me laughing so hard I had to put the book down to wipe tears of laughter out of my eyes. BUT, about halfway through it stops being funny. In fact, it almost seems like it tries to stop being funny and seems more like the source material it comes from. Silly but not from a parody standpoint. The witty one liners and creative names for *ahem* female genitalia (the source of belly laughs earlier in the book) just seem to fall by the wayside. It's short, at 60 pages so you can rifle through this little parody in short order. Not bad, but just stopped being funny in the middle stages. Seems like he's written two more and I'm not sure I'll visit them based on the brevity and the price.

Fifty shades of silver hair and socksThis book is a parody of the fifty shades series. It was quite interesting. It has over eighty pages of hilarious moments and is only appropriate for mature young adults. It has some foul language and inappropriate and sexual content especially not for children’s eyes. I thought that it wasn’t my “type” of book, but some readers will love it. It has excitement, fun, comedy, and will take your minds to new places. The main characters name is Mormon Silver. He went in for a job interview for writing., and came out with more than a job. Beautrice Plastique is the one who hires him and they have a interesting relationship.I will not spoil the book for you so read it yourself Enjoy!Link on amazon http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0081NXVG8/?...

First, and foremost, I haven't read the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy and (in spite of my "never-say-never" philosophy of life) I doubt I ever will. That having been said . .Fifty Shades of Silver Hair and Sockswas a Kindle freebie and the title drew me in like a silver-haired moth to an warm'n'woolly sock-fueled flame! (note to self: next time, WASH the socks first . . ewwww!)A very quick, short 'n' sticky read that focused on the antics of aging professional blogger, Mormon Silver, and the "adventurous" Bea Plastique. As parodies/satires/send-ups go, this one provided a few laugh-out-loud moments, a plethora of eye-rolls and very quick read. Worth the price? Sure!

I thought this was a very funny book! I read the reviews about it and at first I was a bit unsure if I should purchase it. I do anyways and I laughed and I ended up loving it. I love Mr. Silver and his argyle style, I thought that was adorable of him. I read the book to laugh and to be amazed by epic story. It's called a parody for a reason and I loved it. I found myself loving Mr. Silver throughout the short read and I am definitely going to read the next to books. It was indeed a very cute little story. I recommend it to people who want a laugh and just a carefree book to enjoy.

So this was free and well, my sister downloaded it onto my Kindle because she's all into all the Fifty Shades crap. I have not read the Fifty Shades series but this book made me lol. My favorite part would probably be "I have one very hungry Kindle, my love. That Amazon gift certificate is two orgasms from being mine." I thought it'd be sexier than it was but overall, it was a quick, amusing read.

Laugh-out-loud funny! I read this story after the 50 Shades trilogy so it was nice to "come down" from the drama and read something that pokes fun at that other BDSM couple. Hoping the author has at least a few more of these stories up his jersey sleeves! Read this on my Kindle and was done w/it in about 30 minutes. A great short story but hope if/when there's another one, it'll be a bit longer.

I picked this up on a whim, and must admit to enjoying this a lot more than 50 Shades of Grey- I deleted it without ever finishing it. This, however, I fell into. This parody had me laughing. I honestly don't know that I'll ever read the original but I'll definitely reread this one! Hysterical characters, eye-rolling mishaps, and laugh-out-loud settings. I wouldn't call this erotica, but maybe comedica! Sexy, funny, worth the price of download- no question.

This is a very fast read. I wanted to read this because I just got done reading the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. This book was funny and enjoyable. Since I have read the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy I can see parts that are made to make fun of the books. This book also holds its own and is a story all on it's own as well.I highly recommend it to everyone. It's a good book even if you have not read the Fifty Shades books.

So... I read this, looking for a parody. It did start out as such and it was good in the beginning. Eventually, the quirkiness wore off and it seemed like the author started taking the story seriously. It went from a clever tongue in cheek story to something a teenage girl with a vivid imagination would write during study hall. Kind of disappointing.

Totally crazy, wild, and outrageous! But, I loved it. It made me laugh on more than one occasion and Uncle M and Lovergirl are just sweet in their own way. They come up with some really off the wall places to go at it. And I gotta tell ya, Lovergirl is a little psycho, but great! Love the way the book ends. You totally gotta read it! Would I recommend? YesWould I reread? Yes

I don’t usually buy books like this. But when I saw this, I must admit, curiosity got the best of me. I was surprised. It was hilarious. I actually laughed out loud. I don’t think I would have gotten all the jokes if I hadn’t read the original, Fifty Shades of Grey, though. I didn’t think it was sexy at all, but it was funny.

I just wanna put it out there that same as 50 Shames of Earl Grey, I got this book for free. It was an alright read, but good satire is usually derived from great novels and I'm sure Fifty Shades of Grey is nowhere close to being a great novel. Alright read, slightly entertaining. I wouldn't recommend anyone spend money on it but its free on Amazon for Kindle.

Giggles at the start, then it died when he got serious and I realized the disjointed writing was actually the style. I think the attempt at actually making it a romance threw it from a parody into eye-rolling territory.
