It’s official! I hate all the book heroines!!Why???Because all of them have the luck either to live next to the hottest male ever or meet one of them.SO BLOODY UNFAIR!This book introduces us the world of the Arums. They are different from the Luxens and they fight in order to protect the humans and their kind. Yet , like in every species , some arums kill just for fun.Hunter“That´s an alien. I´m an alien. We´re aliens. Aliens everywhere, acutally, which is why we have to leave. I´m sure someone called the police by now.”Serena“Never in my life had I been more frustrated. Go figure it wouldn't be with a human but a freaking alien. At least I now knew that the male species were asses no matter what planet they hailed from.”Serena’s best friend had the misfortune to be dating a Luxen . An argument that she eavesdropped costs her , her life . She talks with Serena about what she saw but Serena only thinks that her friend is going nuts. Seriously , they were fighting and then turned into lighting humans ? Who would believe this story ? Apparently no one , neither our book heroine . It is known that you don’t believe something until you witness it with your own eyes . In this case it was too late .(view spoiler)[Serena’s friend was killed by a Luxen. (hide spoiler)]At this point we meet Hunter .Bad never felt so goodHe is arrogant and harsh. A human’s life is not important to him but the DOD forces him to babysit one. Unwittingly he obeys but he never thought that this human would change his life .When they meet each other for the first time I couldn’t stop grinning .Hunter is one of the cockiest and most arrogant heros ever , which of course is not bad at all. He pisses her off all the time with his attitude . There are times that you will want to punch him.“Are you done acting like a psychotic, cracked-out Muppet baby?" he asked, and I could tell by the way his fingers spasmed around my wrists, he really wanted to shake me. "Or do you need a couple more moments to return to sanity? I have all day. And you actually feel kind of good under me, so take your time.”He is unbelievable and that’s the reason I love him . Well , almost…It’s hard not to fall for Mr. Six-pack heaven.Things between them start getting more complicating. Hunter , like a typical male , cant hold himself back and with every opportunity flirts with her . Hahaha Hunter is not so much a flirting type .I knocked her out . Again . Aw fuck.Even a simple kiss is dangerous for her if he doesn’t control himself . Taking control is difficult though because humans are little snacks for the Arums . He doesn’t give up though , he is willing to try again and again. One of the best things about Hunter except from his hands *wink*(What??He likes wood crafting!!) is that he is also a great cook.Oh yes! Both hot and talented .My brother gave me shit about it , so did Dex.Fuck them I was a great cook.Hunter is there to protect her but what happens when the government wants you dead? When everyone wants the worst for you?He will kill every bastard that will appear in his way in order to protect her. That’s what I liked about him . He is fierce and devoted. He doesn’t give a rats a@@ when it comes to her safety .The funny thing is that Serena has already admitted to herself that she (view spoiler)[loves him (hide spoiler)] but she cant understand his motives . Why he is putting his life on danger for her .Why are you helping me?No one knows why , neither Hunter . It is wrong in all ways to help her . His job is over after all.Why I loved Hunter: OMG his arrogance knows no bounds . Sometimes I was like *giggles* “He didn’t say that , did he?”He is so dangerous that in his way are only lying the dead bodies of Luxens . Serena wakes up unprecedented feelings to him .Ha one of the funniest moments was when he woke up in the middle of the night and caught himself cuddling . For him it is too human-ish and shows weakness .Fav quote:”Your arrogance is rooted in stupidity.”“And your lifespan is getting shorter by the second.”Never , piss him. I’m serious , bad things happen when he’s pissed. Why I loved Serena: She is both shy and smart . I liked the fact that she accepted Hunter and who he was . She was always encouraging him to turn into his true form . It wasn’t scary for her and it meant a lot to Hunter . She is a strong girl , not a badass though. I love the fact that she managed to bring Hunter’s best behavior out. When I was reading this book I thought that a good soundtrack would beEtostone - Together ft. Jason McKnightI wanna live my life with youEvery moment close to youNever to lose my love for youFinally, my wish has all come trueI wanna live my life with youSide by side to walk on throughNo matter what happens - I turn intoWith every breath - I take, Together with you... Baby it's alright , stay all night , Baby it's alright , together , together tonight.Let me take you high, Baby one more timeLet me take you high, and shoot up to the skyLet me take you high, Baby one more timeJust one more timeOverall it was a great read! Let’s say I’m at Barnes and Noble. There’s only one copy of this book left. And a lady, who looks old enough to have known Moses personally, is holding it and is wheelchairing it over the check-out line in a way that would make NASCAR proud. Now, I’m not saying that I would drop kick the ol’ gal or anything… I’d probably just deposit her over the nearest and steepest ramp in the tri-state area. I’m kidding!Kind of. I’d probably just bribe her with one of those “Get Out of Nursing Home for Free” cards or something.Because that, my friends, is how great this book is.♦ THE WRITING:♦ THE STORYLINE:♦ THE SEX SCENES: “Do you do this?” he asked. “Touch yourself?”His fingers stilled. “Do you pleasure yourself, Serena?”“How often?”I refused to answer him.“Once a week? More?” He pulled his hand away and turned me around. My breath caught in my throat.“I bet you do, and the next time?” He teased my nipple. “You’ll think of me.”♦ HUNTERAnd he’s one sexy, arrogant, badass, asshole. ♥*eyebrow waggle* The good kind.So yeah. This book?FUCKING AMAZING.*** This series is a spinoff of the “Lux” series. Though it is not required to read the "Lux" series prior to reading this, it IS encouraged. ***

***ATTENTION ALL DAEMON LOVERS***So, is it a shadow? Total darkness? Or a black hole?Or is it an Arum.Well, it’s....“Tell me to shut up one more time and I’m going to rip out your tongue and make you eat it. Got that?”....Hunter!---------------------------------------------------------'In the dim, almost but-not-quite seedy bar lights, I stared openmouthed at my best friend in what had to be the most unattractive manner.'Well to be truthful what else could Serena do? Afterall her best friend Mel was claiming to have seen an alien. And that supposed alien was the Senator's son.Hilarious,really.But being a good friend, Serena asked Mel to stay with her while in her head she was spewing out possible ailments like she was doing a mental grocery list: psychotic break with reality, schizophrenia, anxiety attack with hallucinations, or a brain tumor....The possibilities were endless. But all that changed when she saw Mel get murdered by the very type of creature she had described. An alien.--------------------------------------------------------Okay, so all Daemon lovers, by now we know exactly who Luxens are, love them, and hate the Arums.Ummm...sorry Daemon, you know I still love you, but here we see a slightly different side.Hunter is of course the highest up in the food chain. He’s cunning, he’s ruthless, he’s cruel, he's a predator.Extremely powerful, he’s certainly no saviour. He’a a born and bred killer. But then the DOD asks him to babysit and protect a human female.A predator protecting it’s prey? What do you think will happen?‘Shit. I was not happy about this. There wasn’t a patient bone in my body and the only reason I was ever around a woman was to sate a primal hunger. I didn’t watch over them. I didn’t protect them. It wasn’t in my nature, and the officers knew that. I wasn’t the good guy here. There was a good chance I’d kill Miss Cross.’Oh yessss....BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!----------------------------------------------------Hunter, whatever he expected, did not really expect HER!“Are you insane?” he growled. “Look at me!”Shaking my head frantically, I kept my eyes squeezed shut. “Please don’t—”“Please don’t what? Strangle the ever-loving common sense into you? I might do that.” There was a pause and his chest rose against mine. “Jesus H. Christ, woman, I didn’t sign up for this. I think you gave me a flesh wound.”He's an ass.A total domineering ass.Give him an inch, he'll take miles and miles.“Get off me.” I tried to push him off, but that didn’t work. “Get off me now!”“Or what?” He tilted his head down so that his mouth was inches from mine. “You going to pick up a picture frame next and wing it at my head?”“Maybe,” I snapped back.“Then I can’t let you up.”I stared at him in disbelief and sputtered, “You can’t— Get off!”One single brow arched up. “I can’t get off? Oh, I most definitely can get off.”The flush increased until I felt like I was under the sweltering sun. Muscles in my stomach tightened. “That’s not what I meant and you know it.”“Hmm, so you say…so you say.”But Serena can not stop her heart from going into an overdrive whenever he's near.'Holy hotness...Jeans hung low on narrow hips. Hunter’s stomach was perfection—each taut muscle tight and totally lickable. Not that I’d ever licked a man’s stomach before, but now I got why someone would want to. I was in six-pack heaven. He even had those dips beside the hip-bones...'Hmmm...oh sorry!! Was busy wiping away my drool.Oh and by the way I can't not tell you about one of my favourite scenes, where he SPANKS her!!!!'With one arm secure around her waist, I gave her ass a friendly pat with my free hand. “You should really watch your language. It’s not very ladylike.”“Don’t you dare smack my—” A yawn cut her off, totally ruining the level of threat.“You high-handed, arrogant son of a—”Whamp! This smack was a little harder. “Language, Serena.”What came out of her mouth next almost made me drop her. She got her ass smacked again for that and after the third time, she quieted down.'(Daemon, I still love you baby, but you've gotta learn something from Hunter!!)“I want to hear you call my name when you come.” His voice was thick, smoky; his lips moving against my breast. “I want to hear you scream my name.”**MAJOR SWOON ATTACK!!!!**--------------------------------------------------But all this doesn't change the fact that he's a predator, and she....his prey.So what's holding him back? Is it the DOD pulling his strings? Is that the reason she's still alive? Is that the reason he's her protector instead of the other way round?Or has Serena somehow managed to wiggle inside his whatever-organ-beats-inside-his-alien-chest?And then suddenly when everything goes awry, Hunter will have to choose....and soon.Because Serena’s time is running out.Everyone, the government, the Luxen, the Arum, everyone’s against her and wants her dead. How far will Hunter go to protect her? Read the book to find it out.--------------------------------------------------------Now, time to clarify a few things ---1) This is an Arum novel, yes. This takes place in the exact world, in the exact time period in which Daemon and Katy reside.2) The perspective, as expected, is widely different. You'll be wondering over what's right and what's wrong even after you finish this book.3) It has targeted a crowd more mature and so is, of course, more steamy than the Lux series.4) Last but not the least, the ending won’t kill you!So Readers, all that said... ENJOY this book!!!That's all for now,Ta-Ta!!P.S.:- For all Daemon lovers,if you feel as if you're cheating on Daemon, or betraying him, then remember....Hunter oozes that kind of dark sex appeal that made good girls do bad, bad things. Over and over again.....and rest your conscience.(At least that's what I've done.)

5 Fantastic Stars! I feel like a traitor. And it’s all because of this guy...‘And here’s another impolite thing for you. I don’t give a fuck.’I sooooo love Daemon from the Lux series, its not even funny. SO how is it possible that I love Hunter, this Arum (the Lux’s enemy) EVEN MORE? I dunno... but I do! Hunter has an attitude and I loved it! He is also all kinds of sexy and hilarious! Now to the story- Serena is just a normal 23 year old girl. She has a wacky best friend, Mel, who she meets one night for drinks after work. Mel is talking crazy. She has seen something that has her freaking out. A guy she is seeing was arguing with his brother and lit himself up like a light bulb. Serena doesn’t know what to think... ‘I need more wine for this shit.’She decides to have Mel come over her place so they can talk more. But then Serena witnesses something crazy... her best friends car getting blown up, with Mel in it. Serena is upset, and freaked out. She gets questioned and tells the detectives everything she knows. She saw the same think Mel did. She knows she sounds crazy, but she saw what she saw. The Lux aren’t all good, we find out in this book. They can’t have Serena out there, so they want to take matters into their own hands. The D.O.D steps in and sends someone to watch over her and protect her for the time being. Hunter, an Arum- someone who can defend her against the Lux if need be.Hunter is an Arum in his late twenties/early thirties. He doesn’t really do the whole human interaction thing. He works for the DOD, but he looks out for himself. OMG Hunter and Serena’s back and forth banter had me rolling with fits of laughter. They were just hilarious together. “Are you done acting like a psychotic, cracked-out Muppet baby?" he asked, and I could tell by the way his fingers spasmed around my wrists, he really wanted to shake me. "Or do you need a couple more moments to return to sanity? I have all day. And you actually feel kind of good under me, so take your time.” “You have a feisty little attitude, don’t you?”
“You’re about to get a feisty little foot up your ass.”“You’re so cocky.”
“Ah, don’t say anything with the word cock in it.”
“What? Will I wake the slumbering beast?”
“The slumbering beast is always awake around you.”“Is there ever a moment when you’re not bossing someone around?”
“Probably not.”
“And do you realize how rude and annoying it is?”
“Yes. And before you ask, I don’t give a shit if it’s annoying and rude.”Serena doesn’t really want to be protected. She wants answers. Hunter gives her some, but he is also quite about some things. It drives Serena crazy.Never in my life had I been more frustrated. Go figure it wouldn't be with a human but a freaking alien. At least I now knew that the male species were asses no matter what planet they hailed from. The more time they spend together, the more Serena learns about Hunter and his kind. The more Hunter starts to like her. Oh my the chemistry between these two... they were sizzling hot together! And the sexual tension just kept building and building... Hunter is hot as hell! I was still a red-blooded, twenty-three year old woman sitting in front of a man, who may not be a hundred-percent human but had to have caused a panty-dropping crisis across the universe. And when they finally got ‘together’. WOW. Double WOW. “Where were we? Oh yeah, I want to hear you scream my name.”The two start to develop a connection, and start to have feelings for one another. Serena is funny, feisty and stubborn, but Hunter finds himself liking those things about her. “Damn, you have a mouth on you. I like it.”
Hunter was a jerk at first. But a hot jerk. A funny jerk. The BEST kind of jerk! I loved him!!!!!Things don’t stay smooth for long. It seems all kinds of people are after Serena now, and Hunter has to chose... Does he protect her and help her, even though she is just a human and it could put his life at risk, or does he just let whatever happen to her and not worry about it... he is an Arum after all. What do you think? If you enjoyed the Lux series, chances are you will enjoy this one too. This book is considered a stand alone, but personally, I wouldn’t read it unless you’ve read the Lux series. To me it was just as good, maybe even a little better (although that my have something to do with the steam factor going up BIG TIME). Be prepared to seriously laugh your ass off and fall in love with HUNTER!

Buddy reading with Mona :DThis book was amazing!!!I don't know anymore who are the bad guys Luxen or Arum..In my mind from the Lux series I thought Arum are the bad guys in the story!I never thought I'll like them and fall in love with one of them!Hunter is the baddest and hottest bad boy.!!He is not your typical hero...he's an ARUM one of the 'bad guys' and he has a big ego and also he is such an arrogant!!But as you read the book, you can't help but fell in love with him..There is so much more to him.. "You're more than a weapon, Hunter. So much more."Serena is another feisty character.I love that she never back down from Hunter's insults and words. She fights with him all the time and I honestly enjoyed every minute of it :D I liked seeing how the Arum see the world. They are not all bad just as the Luxen are not all good.I always enjoy Jennifer Armentrout's writing style and character development.I loved getting both Serena and Hunter's Points of Views!!Jennifer made me love an Arum!!There was sarcastic humor and romantic suspense.I hope she adds more books to this series.Hunter has a couple of brothers that I would love to read more about!!!Hunter and Serena

4-SWEET ALIEN BABIES EVERYWHERE-StarsMove over Daemon, there's a new alien in town!!!Hello Hunter! In case you're wondering, yes, the Queen of Everything Jennifer L. Armentrout has done it again.Hunter is definitely the baddest hot male character JLA has ever written. EVER."But damn, he was insanely hot for an... alien."1. Hotness incarnated!!!2. Has an ego the size of the planet ."Not to burst your preconceived notions of me, but do I look like I care?"Yes, Hunter, we know. But I had to say my part, right?!3. Arrogance that will put Daemon to shame."Look, things will be easier for you here if you get used to the way it needs to be."This was going to be dandy. "And how is that?""You do as I say. It's that simple."4. Dominant hottie. Did I mentioned that before?!5. Hunter was the badass of all badasses. I mean he was seriously like a super alien. He kicked some major Luxen ass. And I'm not sure I should be so happy about that.(Rooting for an Arum to kill Luxen was WEIRD!!!)6. Hunter doesn't have "feelings". Especially not for humans or so he says."We may look human and even act it at times, but don't ever forget that we are not human."And many, many more that I am just too wound up to think about. It's really too bad he's 32.That kinds of sucks since I'm only eighteen, I'm lucky Daemon isn't that old, otherwise.....pff...moving on....If Cam Hamilton from Waiting For You is such a cutie, Daemon Black from the Lux series is the heartthrob, then Hunter here from Obsession is the baddest and surely the hottest bad boy.But those characteristics together with his sarcasm, cockiness, sexiness, funny side and ability to build up banter made me melt onto the floor, burn into ashes and rise above the ground.Repeatedly.And just when he go over protective and alpha to Serena – Yay!*girly giggles*.->Team Arum vs Team Luxen->Team Daemon vs Team Hunter->Team Ca-- er wait wrong book. So, you can sense my dilemna, right?!*shakes fist at Jennifer*He was a completely different person *ahem* alien than what we know the Arum to be.Hunter was definitely the break out star of this book.I loved his one liners! He never failed to say something that sent me into lol mode. Some of my favorite quotes from Hunter.........“Mine. What in the fuckadeefuck had I meant by that? Mine? I stamped a claim on her after coming within seconds of killing her last night? Smooth.”"Are you done acting like a psychotic, cracked-out Muppet baby?Or do you need a couple more moments to return to sanity? I have all day. And you actually feel kind of good under me, so take your time."I feel my review will quickly has become an epos about how I loved Hunter. But, let's start it, shall we?____________________________________________STORY:So, when Hunter is asked to watch over a human, and protect Serena from the Luxen who are after her, he is clearly not happy with the task.Hunter is all hard edges, and attitude. She just happened to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time and saw something that has put her life in danger. After her friend Mel was killed for the knowledge she possessed, Serena is on borrowed time. She knows that either the Luxen or the DOD are coming for her, she just isn't sure which, or when.____________________________________________The heroine, Serena, is funny, feisty, but took our dark hero to her heart in a wonderful way.No unnecessary hassle or sulking and no prolonged anxiety or indecision - MAYBE too easily, I might say!!!"Why can you listen then and not any other time?""Beacause I like to know what is going on, you giant dickhead."And secondly, how in the name of mother loving hell can I get a hot alien for myself..........seriously, I freaking want one too......And Thirdly, I thought we were supposed to hate the Arum?? I guess not...I mean, wow talk about a switcheroo, now I'm kinda hating the Luxen....I was impressed with was how the Lux/Arum situation was handled. In the Lux series, the Arum are evul aliens intent on eating and killing the innocent Luxen…But in this, the Luxen came across as the bad guys and the Arum just seemed like misunderstood underdogs. It was actually kind of fun seeing things from the supposed bad guys perspective.Lets not forget the steamy scenes that had me blushing and eyeing out my bookshelf *wink* and daydreaming my version of Hunter, a bookshelf .........*coughs*“I can promise you that sex with me won’t be about long, soft pets or whispered words. I like it rough and raw, but your pleasure will always come first. Every single time.”So, yes, let me tell you...Alien sex is mad hot. This book is more descriptive and mature than the ones in the Lux series.“You are perfect for me, only me.”Hunter …....oh,yeah. JLA definitely delivers on the hotness in Obsession.____________________________________________And yes...oh yes...we got to see our favorite "good" badboy Luxen. It was minuscule, so tiny, but it was enough to make me grin like the Chesire cat in Alice in Wonderland.Something about men in pain when it concerns their beloved makes me SO WARM.It's sadistic but I clearly don't care.:P____________________________________________So, why, for-the-love-of-everything-sane 4 stars you say?????I liked Obsession I really did, but I didn't lurve it.Maybe it's just because I was in a sort of reading funk or something but I did not love it as much as the other JLA books.I am very partial to male book leads with a badboy streak. Ehem.Daemon Black, for instance, thank you very much.Sadly, Hunter, this man I had some issues with.I liked him, yes, but he did not make my "book boyfriend list".Then, there is Serena who I felt she was more "IN MAD CASE OF INSTA LUST" with Hunter, that too I might add only after a few days after the death of her best friend.Shouldn't she be depressed???And then, I felt like at the end of every fight, she put up a great front, but backed down in the end......Now, where's the fun in that? She should have been kicking his ass, BIG TIME!!!Maybe its just the feminist in me talking! However, after reading OBSESSION I keep asking myself who was Serena and who was Hunter?OK, it is obvious that I do know who they are but I have a hollow feeling regarding their characters.Even though the story was nice, I kind of didn’t get to know the characters as good as the characters in the Luxen novels.WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO GETTING TO KNOW SOMEONE?You see, Serena and Hunter ? They were exactly like Katy and Daemon - but I seriously felt like Hunter was just moments away from calling Serena 'Kitten'.And now, the question of the year: Daemon Black or Hunter…whose real name we actually do not know because it is unpronounceable? This one is easy for me.I will stick to Daemon! They say there are two sides to every story and this book gives you a taste of that.Take your preconceived notions and toss them out the window. This books makes you root for who you thought were the bad guys and makes you think there's a lot more to the story then you thought.A MUST read for fans of Lux series.I have a whole new outlook on both the Luxen and the Arum. I don't know who or what to believe?!?!(view spoiler)[Perhaps Hunter and Daemon should join forces to save Katy?!?!What does all of this mean for Origin??Will we see more of Hunter? (hide spoiler)]Origin is like something we HAVE/NEED to understand any of this shit!P.S: Sorry if you feel like the review is written by two different people, but I promise its just me and my insanity inner self talking.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

On Jennifer L. Armentrout's blog:What can I tell you about Obsession? An Arum. Yes. You read that right.Obsession does take place in the same world that Katy and Daemon inhabit, Obsession is more mature, definitely targeted toward the older crowd. It's an adult romance, so you know what that means. Obsession will change what you think you know about the Luxens and Arums. There will be some crossover with certain characters from the Lux Series.Obsession takes place in-between Opal and the 4th Lux novel, which is called Origin.Hunter and Serena are the lead characters in Obsession.Update (05.12.2012):Teaser #1Teaser #2-- (on blog)Update (12.12.2012):Teaser #3:“Not all of their kind came to Earth when our planets were destroyed. Tens of thousands are here, but there are hundreds of thousands out there. They will come eventually.” “And?” she asked, her arms loosening and falling to her sides. “And humans will be glad that there are Arums on this planet when that day comes.”-- (on Deity Island)Update (24.12.2012):Teaser #4:"We’re in their world, babe. Don’t ya worry about the Luxen boy in there with Luc. Worry about yourself.”Teaser #5:"Luxens were like galactic Pringles in a f**ked up way. Things are kind of… messed up. And you knocked me out. And you’re half naked—”“Have you looked in the mirror?” he cut in. “You’re just as naked as I am. And I didn’t throw anything at your head.”Glancing down at myself, I cringed. Somehow I’d forgotten that I was in my shirt and undies. Flushing all over again, I wanted to dart behind something, but I folded my arms. “I didn’t throw anything at your head. I was—”“Do you always overreact like this?”Oh my God, if he interrupted me one more time I was going to throw something at his head. “I woke up in a strange place, kidnapped by an alien. I can’t even believe I’m explaining why I overreacted. What were you doing in my room anyway?”He mimicked my stance. “Correction: this is my house and therefore this is my room. Not that I need to explain myself, I was checking to make sure everything was secure outside.”“But you did kidnap me.”“I did not.”I threw up my hands. “What’s all this? Where am I?”“West Virginia.”My mouth dropped open. Oh, my God, this couldn’t be happening. “I’m in a different time zone? Are you fuc—”Hunter threw up his hand, silencing me. The tip of my tongue literally burned to lay into him. “What the hell is that noise?”Before I could respond, he stalked past the bed and entered the bathroom.“Jesus! What are you trying to do in here?” His voice carried from the bathroom. “Giving the floor a bath?” he demanded.I searched desperately for my jeans, but came up empty.Hunter returned, hands on his hips. Too late. “Seriously?”“I forgot I turned the faucet on. Geez, you’re grumpy.”“And you’re already turning out to be a huge pain in my thigh.”“Look, I’m really sorry about that. Okay? I’ve been through some really traumatic events here recently and yes, I might have overreacted.” I struggled with my patience. “And I really would just like to know where my pants are.”“Your pants were folded on the corner of the bed. You probably knocked them on the floor.”What? I wanted to check, but I so wasn’t bending down in my panties in front of him. “And how did they get off me and folded on the bed?”“I did it. Thought you’d be more comfortable.”Oh geez, I had no idea what to think about that. A thank you so wasn’t in order though. He did undress me while I was unconsciousness for crying out loud. My entire body felt red-hot. “I’m not going to say thank you for that.”“Not like I’d expect that common courtesy from you,” he replied, his pale eyes dancing… with what? Anger? Amusement? “After all you never thanked me for saving your ass—a pretty ass at that. So I can add inconsiderate to your glowing list of attributes. Put that right next to: overreacts, acts first and then thinks, drama—”“Oh, go fuc–”“You do not want to finish that sentence,” Hunter warned. His voice low enough to send warning shivers down my spine.****-- (on blog)Update (04/01/'13):Teaser #7:“Are you done acting like a psychotic, cracked-out muppet baby?” he demanded. -- (on Facebook)Update (05/09/'13):Q&A about Obsession:1. The main characters are Hunter and Selena. 2. This book is not a Lux novel, but it does take place in the same "world" as the Lux series. It is a companion novel. 3. Characters from the Lux series will crossover into this novel. 4. The events in this book take place between Opal and Origin to give you an idea of timeline5. This is an ADULT novel, meaning if you are a youngin, this book is not for you. Because of that, Obsession can be read w/ or w/out reading the Lux series. 6. I am so sorry. I am SO sorry. I am sooooo sorry. It's not often when I write a review and worry about having a difference of opinion from my friends - because if I had to worry, I'd have to do it for every single book review with the varied group of friends I have. Thankfully, I have awesome friends who don't mind me most of the time. However...this time, I might be a little bit worried. Just a little. Because my opinion is probably going to be extremely unpopular. I honestly think Armentrout doesn't translate to adult writing with the same fluidity in which she writes YA. This is the second adult book of hers (Serena's one year too old for my definition of NA) that I've read and had issues with. Her brand of sexual tension in YA is a great build which keeps the reader invested. Unfortunately, the way that the sexual detail transfers over to older characters reads so much like a copy of every single bad adult contemporary romance term which has already been over-used in thousands of other books. This is a case where I wish the author take a break from reading romance in order to completely forget the "Romance 101" generic terms so they can start over with their own personal descriptions. The sex scenes were not only cringe-worthy, but I failed to find them arousing on any level.Wombs were tightening. Bundles of nerves were tingling. Male parts were twitching. Sensations were felt down to the core. Even worse, words were used to describe Hunter's male part as a "thick and demanding proud length that jutted between us." Imaginary flavors were invented (can anyone taste like sunlight?). The obligatory "like a drug" reference was present (this time it was the taste of her skin). But that's not what made me upset. I was appalled by a scene in which (going to need to probably tag this as a spoiler) (view spoiler)[the guy was feeling up Serena while she was sleeping. He was touching all over her bared breasts while she was NOT awake, and he did NOT have her permission, other than her calling out IN HER SLEEP. (hide spoiler)]This behavior is NOT okay. I put part of the scene in the spoiler tag below. (view spoiler)[She was asleep and definitely didn't know what she was asking for, but that soft plea was my undoing. There wasn't a flicker of hesitation when it came to what I did next. I wasn't fooling myself or anyone. I wanted to touch her and so I did. (hide spoiler)]What truly made me sad was that I started skimming by the second half because by the time I started learning more about the Luxen/Arum differences (which was the reason for me wanting to read the book in the first place, since I do like the Lux series and wanted to know more about the world), I was already checking out.I know that Lux book 4 is about to come out, but I might need to put a few weeks of distance between this book and the next, just so I can pick up the Lux book and enjoy it for what it is.

Good vs. EvilLight vs. DarknessLuxen vs. ArumWell, I thought I had it all figured out…Boy was I wrong!Jennifer L. Armentrout is a genius! She took what fans of the Lux Series know to be the truth from the view point of Daemon Black and his siblings and blew it to smithereens! When you said the word Arum to me before reading this book, I would immediately associate it with images and words like evil, darkness, self-serving and of course THE ENEMY. ”We’ve always been seen as a weapon. That’s what we are.”After reading Obsession, the first thoughts that now enters my mind when the word Arum is mentioned is kick ass, sexy as hell, sarcastic and fantastic and his name is…Hunter. This story was a definite 5 stars for me from the story line to the terrific dialogue to the HOOOOOTTTTT sex scenes. ”I can promise you that sex with me won’t be about long, soft pets, or whispered words. I like it rough and raw, but your pleasure will always come first. Every single time.”The story is about Serena Cross who’s best friend, Melanie overhears and witnesses some crazy things that are really important (we're talking world domination here) to a lot of top secret groups.”WHY ARE YOU HELPING ME?”Helping her wasn’t a huge risk. It was the nail in the universal coffin”Serena finds that her life is in danger by….oh I can’t even say it's still crazy to me. Anyhow, she finds herself under the protection of an Arum named Hunter in his Virginian home. These two had tons of hysterical banter and loads of chemistry. “Never in my life had I been more frustrated. Go figure it wouldn't be with a human but a freaking alien. At least I now knew that the male species were asses no matter what planet they hailed from.” I’m not giving anything away but I’ll say that the only opponent Hunter lost to in this book was little old cupid! The story is told in alternating povs and doesn’t end with a cliffhanger. I completely inhaled this book and I still want more…Hint Hint. Side Notes:Daemon needs to get Hunter’s cell number because this sexy Arum could have Katy rescued in seconds!Luc what the hell is he? The missing link or is there another species involved here? This series is a MUST for fans of the Lux Series. Did you really have any doubts? Come on, it’s Jennifer L. Armentrout!

4 Delicious Aliens, Team Arums and Keep Calm & Love Hunter Stars“What…what are you?” My gaze dropped to the other thing. “What is that?” There was a pause, and then he nodded at the prone form on the floor. “That’s an alien. I’m an alien. We’re aliens. Aliens everywhere, actually, which is why we have to leave. I’m sure someone has called the police by now.” I stared at him. “Aliens?” Hunter nodded. “Aliens.”Serena Cross' quiet existence is shattered when her best friend is killed in front of her eyes. All the clues are pointing to aliens but can she really believe it? And more important will she manage to stay alive to find out the truth, uncover a conspiracy and maybe, hopefully avenge her friend's death?Hunter, an Arum on DOD's leash, a ruthless killer and merciless alien, is used to hunting down and exterminating Luxen. When charged with keeping Serena alive, he will have to fight her battles, his own prejudices and his deepest instincts to claim what he knows it's his, Serena. She was light against my darkness. Serena haven't backed away or hesitated. She accepted me, all of me. She always had. Funny, sexy, adorable, delicious and hilarious, this book is a non-stop adventure, a witty, adult fantasy read that will keep you glued on the pages and leave you daydreaming of men that are more dark shadows, than you could ever imagine. This is the first book I read by Jennifer L. Armentrout. It will definitely not be the last. But let me state that, I am and I will always be Hunter's.... And he will be MINE!!!I have heard some whispers, that Arums were the bad guys, there is another male lead that is also hot, yada yada yada...Oh come, on........... seriously???There is a new alpha male in town and he will kill you after messing with you and beating you within an inch of your life. Because, bad-ass is the new Black!(pun intended...)“Tell me to shut up one more time and I’m going to rip out your tongue and make you eat it. Got that?”Hunter, no-last-name needed!I want more.... no, really,Thank you, my wonderful ladies; Kristalia (my brilliant crystal) Kristina (we had so much fun drooling over Hunter!) and Sandra (thank you for organising it babe) for a yummy buddy-read!! Some SpoilersPredictable, cheesy and rather offensive. The story, the characters and the romance were pretty much exactly the same as all other PNR books except with aliens. I have to admit that I did find it somewhat entertaining up until the 'hero' got all rapey. -The main reason it got one star instead of zero was because the heroine wasn't a virgin. I had been worried that JLA (like most female YA/UF/PNR authors) had some sort of weird thing for young virgin heroines and manslut heroes… But thankfully that wasn't the case in Obsession. I think JLA leaves most of her sexual double standards and sexism for her YA books. -I wasn't a fan of the heroine, Serena. She wasn't a totally bad character, it was just that she was the same old bland-typical-boring-modest-do-goody-heroine. Basically the standard placeholder heroine.-It was dumb and laughable that a mere few days after Serena's best friend (and the only person she had left in the world) died, she was getting all hot and bothered over some random guy. Instead of grieving for her friend, all she did was think about how hot the hero (Hunter) was, and how lusty he made her. -I was so sick of Serena blushing every time Hunter so much as looked at her. She was a grown woman for fuck's sake yet she still blushed like a tween girl over every lame innuendo or cheesy look.-WTF was with Serena having sex the same day she was almost raped by that random evul guy?!-Hunter was a douchey-rapey-sterotypical-forgettable-fucker of a hero. It was sickening how he thought it was okay to feel up girls in their sleep. Ugh.-I really hated that Hunter groped Serena when she was sleeping. She was ASLEEP, she wasn't able to give fucking permission but rapey Hunter still felt her up anyway… That's sexual assault. What's with all these authors writing rape as if it's something sexy and hot. Ugh.-A note to romance authors… A hero being arrogant, rapey and bossy doesn't equal a bad boy personality or a personality for that matter.-The romance between Hunter and Serena was shallow and dull. Serena kept banging on about Hunter's looks, and Hunter kept banging on about how feisty Serena was and how she had great hair. They had no deeper connection or further development than that.-One thing I was impressed with was how the Lux/Arum situation was handled. In the Lux series, the Arum are evul aliens intent on eating and killing the innocent Luxen… But in this, the Luxen or Lux or whatever came across as the bad guys and the Arum just seemed like misunderstood underdogs. It was actually kind of fun seeing things from the supposed bad guys perspective.-I didn't like that the heroine's name was Serena, it just reminded me of Serena from Gossip Girl.-The male characters insulting each other and themselves by using the word vagina pissed me off… WTF?! Because vaginas are so lame. FUCK OFF with all the sexism and female hating!!-Am I meant to find guys that wear leather pants sexy or something? I don't. All in all, rubbish. It might have been okay if Hunter wasn't a rapey fuck, and if the characters had some depth.

Ok, this book officially proved that the Arum can be just as gorgeous, awesome, and selfless as the Luxen. I'm still in a state of shock after this book, wow. Even though I thought this book was really short, it still went into details about the Luxen and Arum that I didn't even read about in the Lux series, which I found super cool! After this book Daemon and Dawson are not the only two aliens I have major crushes on, now Hunter is definitely added to that list<3 Awesome stand-alone Arum story, highly recommend to anyone, especially fans of the lux series(:

Final rating: 4/5 stars “That´s an alien. I´m an alien. We´re aliens. Aliens everywhere, acutally, which is why we have to leave. I´m sure someone called the police by now.” If i remember correctly, my brain and heart and body belonged to Luxen race... But not anymore! I am officially switching sides!Overall,I freaking loved it:D Despite it's faults, i still loved it. I had so muchfun reading it and i was socaptivated by itthat i couldn't wait to see how the story ends!*spoiler free review*● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●First things first: i suggest you do read Lux series before reading this one. It's timeline is set between Opal & Origin, and it willspoil you- there is no chance that you will miss who appeared from the Lux series and you will just pointlessly spoil yourself. And also, read it between them just so you understand both sides, both Lux and Arum, and story of Obsession is closely connected to it.But,if you have never read any of the Lux books, you can read it and it will still be fun! :D ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●So how come i switched sides and now root for Arum?I know, i know, Arum race is eviiiiiiiil. Or so we havebeen led to believe by Luxen race ... And this book proves it. You will now think which race is good and which is evil. Answer is: both races are good, and both are equally evil. ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Why 4 stars then?Because the charactersreminded me too much of Daemon and Katy from Lux... (more about it incharacterssection). But i also think characters lacked more depth then they were given. ____________________________________________STORY: ____________________________________________In a universe, far away, there were two planets, with two different races. Lux race, a race of Light, and Arum race, a race of shadows. And they are in never ending war. Destroying the planets in process, they settle on Earth...When Mel, Serena's best friend, finds out that her boyfriend is an alien, she tries to convince Serena to believe her. Serena is sure that Mel is wrong because she can't believe in it...until Mel gets killed right in front of Serena's eyes. By a Luxen. Hunter is one of the Arum, the alien race which lives to kill Lux race. Hunter is the agent of Department of Defense, for the sole purpose of killing and getting rid of Luxen race who go stray. So when he is told that he needs to be a bodyguard to a human... things get really crazy.____________________________________________CHARACTERS: ____________________________________________♦ Serena:Serena is a human, who due to unfortunate events, ends up being with alien. Her best friend is murdered and government wants her safe... for now. To do so, they assigned Hunter to protect her.Serena was interesting, but to tell you the truth, i didn't really like her much. I don't hate her either, but i have to say i loved when she argued and pissed off Hunter, because it was too much fun!“You shouldn’t be attracted to me.”“What?” I threw up my hands. “You cannot be serious.”Hunter arched a brow. “Do I not look serious to you?”“You look like an arrogant, pompous ass!” or even better: ”Your arrogance is rooted in stupidity.”“And your lifespan is getting shorter by the second.”Anyway, she was not a bad character at all, though i have to say that one thing bothered me about her. Her best friend died, and all she does is lust over a man... I expected she is going to be extremely depressed or something, because it would be normal reaction... Death of someone close is not something you can just ignore, even if it was a man in question. (it kind of got on my nerves the fact that she always blushed around him...seriously?) “Never in my life had I been more frustrated. Go figure it wouldn't be with a human but a freaking alien. At least I now knew that the male species were asses no matter what planet they hailed from.” She reminds me too much of Katy from Lux series, and that is what bothered me the most. She is basically the older version of her.♦ Hunter:Hunter is a ruthless assassin, and he is one of the strongest of his kind. He is there to eliminate any threats and he is happy to do that... And then, he gets the duty of "baby sitting" one of the humans, and he doesn't know whether it should amuse him, or bother him. Which leads to akward situations where heaccidentally feeds on her.I knocked her out . Again . Aw fuck. Not in the vampire kind of way, but his race feeds on energy of both Humans and Luxen. My ladies (and gentlemen), Hunter is the ultimate anti hero ever written . He is extremely arrogant, self confident and cocky, straight forward and completely frustrating at times! ... But he is also cold, controlling... and he always gets what he wants. Not to mention, he is definitely not a romantic type (view spoiler)[ (being all rapey and stuff) (hide spoiler)]. Damn, Serena was a really, really good-looking woman, but when she smiled? Hell, she was hands down beautiful. But Hunter is also protective of Serena, which is the only good thing i loved about him. Except for being hot alien, who knows how to cook and who can craft stuff. And, as the time passes, he changes for better... Because of Serena.“Life’s rarely fair, sweetheart.” He slid his hands over my thighs as his lips brushed the curve of my jaw once more. “We’ve always been seen as a weapon. That’s what we are.”“No.” Heat unfurled inside me, spreading sizzling shivers. “You’re more than a weapon, Hunter. So much more.”“With you?” His voice was thick. “I am more, but not with anyone else.” And if you thought Daemon Black was horrible, on scale from 1 to 10, Daemon would be 5, and Hunter would get 10. Hunter is a meaner, scarier and definitely older version of Daemon. It's hard for me to like him or hate him, because i do hate and like him in the same time, if it makes any sense.____________________________________________OVERALL: ____________________________________________It was... well, interesting and i enjoyed it really much. I just wish it was a series like Lux, because i wouldn't reading adult series about Arum :DAnd if you are fan of Lux, definitely check it out. And if you want interesting romance with really bad boy type, this is for you.Over and out. ____________________________________________● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●____________________________________________ REVIEW(S) RELATED TO THIS BOOK:◈Opal (Lux, #3)❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤Buddy read with Georgia, Kristina and Sandra ♥thanx for inviting me, we had fun drolling over Hunter ♥♥♥✦Georgia's review✦Kristina's review✦Sandra's reviewThis review can be found on my blog: also known as... i have only one word to say and that is BLOODY-F*CKING-AMAZING!!!!I would also like to say that if you are reading LUX series I would advise you not to read it if you haven't read OPAL.I know it says it can be read as a stand alone and it can, but if you are deep in LUX and decided not to read OPAL because of the cliff... well do not read it because you are not idiots and you will put 2&2 together about one small situation that reveals something (view spoiler)[cliff in OPAL (hide spoiler)]maybe I am wrong and shouting wrong warnings but honestly ... I really think you are all smart enough to grasp who will be in the picture for couple of seconds.

'No one could move that fast. No one human. He's not human.''If I hadn't shown up when I had, the Luxen would've easily killed her.Humans were so fragile.''It felt right. Like not taking the shit back kind of right. Weird. I knew I needed to stay away from her, but I didn't want to.I also knew I wouldn't.'One Arum. One Human.A deadly secret...and a deadly attraction. The world is on the verge of destruction, alien and human forces colliding like never before. And Hunter and Serena are caught in the middle. How far would you go to get revenge? How far would you go to save the people you love? How far is too far?An amazing spin-off from the world of Arum and Luxen, 'Obsession' will have you begging for more.A tale as old as time. Beauty...and the Beast.__________________________Pre-reading thoughts:Did I just find out Jennifer's creating another teen heartthrob?! Obviously Jennifer realised that what with Aiden and Daemon......And their respective love lives, dramas and (*sobs*) sorrows, we needed more. Us fangirls needed another guy to pour our hopes and dreams into. So she made a hot Arum, thinking:And hopefully we're not in for more heartbreak!! ......Seriously, though, if we are...I will go outside and build a bivouac and never come out and just stay inside it watching Friends re-runs and shoving down dark chocolate brownies. That is a promise. So this book better be all rainbows, and sunshine, and cuteness*.*Shirtless scenes are much appreciated.

Initially I didn’t want to read this book because, let’s be real: The main male is an Arum. After being completely in love with the Lux Series, it felt like I was betraying Daemon Black. Well, now I’m glad I got over it, as this is a really good book. So, this book takes place in the world of the Lux Series, where aliens are very real… and very sexy. Serena sees her best friend getting killed, because she saw too much: she saw Luxens in their true form and talking about something that no one should know. Serena didn’t believed in her at first instance, because, let’s face it: aliens that light up like bulbs? Really??But the Luxens didn’t really care about what she believed or not and she could be a risk, so, they send someone to kill her.For reasons that I don’t want to explain now, the DOD hired Hunter, an Arum at their service, to protect her. Displeased is a very soft word for what he felt about having to babysitting her when he could be doing so many better things. But well, she’s not very pleased either and she wants to make sure he knows that. The time passes, she’s in danger, their alone and attracted to each other, and things start to happen. If you want to know more you really have to go read the book, now. What can I say? Serena is a pretty good heroine, Hunter is sexy as sin and for some blissful moments we get to see our favorite little luxen, Daemon, who else? The book has a great story and raises a lot of questions to the people who follow the Lux Series: Who are the bad guys after all? Luxens or Arums? And are we, human people, really that naïve? Well, another extremely good reading. But then again, I don’t think I’ll ever be disappointed with a book of this author. You may go read it, for real now. ;)

So going into this book I wasn't quite sure how I would feel because I wasn't crazy about the Arum's from the Luxen series to begin with but I thought, "why not give it a try."My reaction was.....I'm in love with an Arum......WTF.....I seriously like them just as much as the Luxen now. How did this occur I'll tell you how.One word and one word only made this happen.......that word is Hunter!! “Holy hotness…Jeans hung low on narrow hips. Hunter’s stomach was perfection—each taut muscle tight and totally lickable. Not that I’d ever licked a man’s stomach before, but now I got why someone would want to. I was in six-pack heaven. He even had those dips beside the hip-bones…”Whew Good Lawd....everything he says....everything he does absolute perfection! He's a moody jerk and I LOVE moody jerks!!!!! He tells it like it is.....he's crude and obnoxious....mouth watering.I guess I should say something about Serena, so far I've only talked about Hunter. I liked Serena she was feisty and stood up for herself instead of cowing to his surly moods. But honestly Hunter made this book for me.“Are you going to answer my questions or just insult me? Hunter chuckled. “Possibly a little of both.”The HUGE bonus is this book isn't YA like the Luxen series.....ooooh la la my friends.....its hot and spicy! If you haven't finished Opal I would probably wait and read this one after because there is a small scene that has a little bit to do with that book.Bye everyone, go read these books people.....they are GREAT!!!

★★★★★5 Hunter-Gave-Me-A-Serious-Lady-Boner Stars★★★★★Before I started reading Obsession, I didn't think there was any way I was going to end up liking an Arum. The Lux books teach us that the Arums are basically the exact opposite of the Luxen. Arums are dark, evil, and devoid of emotion where the Luxen are light, good, and more than capable of caring for each other and the human population. This book takes all of your preconceived notions and throws them out the window!Serena Cross's life explodes when she witnesses her best friend being murdered by an alien. Her best friend learned some very incriminating information about a senator and his family and passed some of this information along to Serena before she was killed. The Department of Defense is trying to determine what Serena knows but they will have to make sure that she is protected from the aliens who killed her friend in order to get that information and decide what to do with her. Hunter is an Arum that is given the task of protecting Serena. He normally could care less about the DOD and any humans, but Serena is different. He seems drawn to her and the sexual tension between the two is out of this world HOT!HunterI freaking loved Hunter! He is very ALPHA MALE, arrogant, possessive, protective, kinda scary, domineering, and can be surprisingly sweet at times. This is how I feel about Hunter...SerenaSerena was an awesome heroine! She is smart, witty, has a backbone, and where Hunter is dominant, Serena is rebellious :) She is the perfect match for a guy like Hunter. Jennifer Armentrout is very talented at creating humourous banter between her main characters and this book is no different!"Please don't-" "Please don't what? Strangle the ever-loving common sense into you? I might do that."*~*~*~*~*"I can't get off? Oh, I most definitely can get off." One aspect of this book that I thoroughly enjoyed is that this book is an adult novel, whereas the Lux books are young adult. The book is a lot steamier and doesn't gloss over the sexy scenes. Overall, I enjoyed this book just as much as I enjoyed the Lux novels. I also refuse to pick a team (Arum or Luxen), I want to be on both LOL!“You turn me on. You make me care about things I never cared about before. You make me think. You make me warm.”

LOVED IT!!!!!!!!! 5 EXTRATERRESTRIAL STARS!!!!!!Another alien masterpiece by Jennifer Armentrout!!!! Now before you start this book, it would be very helpful if you read her Luxen series first. This book is a take off on that series, showing us readers the other side of the coin, from the eyes of the enemy. And what a delicious glimpse it is into the mind and the life of the Arum. [image error]The book starts out with a bang and a murder. Serena Cross’ best friend Mel, a wild and crazy fun-loving girl has a wild night out and finds herself hooked up with the Senator’s son. She wakes up shortly after, overhearing a conversation between him and his brother. She is intrigued by their strange conversation, and is then quickly shocked by the altercation she witnesses between the two. She hears and sees some things that will soon seal her fate and lead to her untimely death. However, before this all plays out, she manages to share her unfortunate sighting with her best friend Serena. Of course, Serena doesn’t believe her, who would? What she saw was impossible, right? Well apparently not… and soon Serena finds herself in danger as well, and on the run, with no one to trust.Hunter is an Arum who has sort of “sold out” to the man, and started working for the DOD (Department of Defense). He has been assigned to watch over Serena, and to find out just how much she knows. He is not happy about this assignment, but is accepts it reluctantly. However once he seeks her out, he will soon find he must fight his own instincts to keep her safe. He is an Arum after all, a killer. And his cravings are testing the limits of his self-control. He is instantly struck with her appearance and vulnerability, and finds himself drawn to her. But his cravings go beyond sex. He has a hunger to feed from her as well, and if he indulges this need, he will kill her himself. This he cannot allow to happen. But his frustration proves to be intense, way beyond what he was prepared to deal with. [image error] He also finds himself feeling protective of her…possessive. A feeling totally new to him. She is a human after all. He is Arum, and he doesn’t need this shit. Arum are only about self-preservation and pleasure. But fuck him, he was falling for her…And if I was honest, I was fucking terrified of the idea. Somehow, in the relatively short time I’d known Serena, she had wiggled her way into my cold body. She was my light, my warmth, and I wasn’t ready to let her go.Serena Cross at the age of 23 had already lived through some pretty rough times. Her mother had been murdered during a botched robbery attempt when she was a freshman in college, and her father was never a part of her life. She found herself young and alone at a very young age. For this reason, she had relied heavily on the love and support of her best friend Mel. So when Mel is also taken from her life, she is forced to stand alone and fight for her life. So when Hunter shows up to offer up protection, Serena is not very accepting of his help, in fact she is completely freaked out by him. He has a formidable presence and then there is the fact that he is NOT HUMAN! Yes, he appears and acts human…and a freaking hot one at that, and he did save her life, but his cold demeanor and prickly personality have her questioning his loyalty. Not to mention his intense need to feed from her.At least I knew that the male species were asses no matter what planet they hailed from. The chemistry between these two is white hot and the fast building sexual tension is completely addictive, as is the verbal banter between them. I absolutely LOVE this couple!!!! I was literally glued to the book!!!! I never wanted to put it down…damn real life, always getting in the way!!!! Hunter is soooooo fucking HOT, and sweet with Serena. But he has just that right amount of domination and forcefulness in his seduction…just fucking PERFECTION!!!!!! I’m totally in LOVE with this guy!!!!!!!”You’re so cocky.”“Ah, don’t say anything with the word cock in it.”“What?” She giggled. “Will I wake the slumbering beast?”“The slumbering beast is always awake around you.” And hell if the “beast” wasn’t stirring. And Serena was tough, not your typical weepy pitiful heroine. She was tougher than nails….and would stand up for herself and her beliefs, even when I thought she was making a stupid decision. And yes, she was stupid…more than once, but she owned it, and she didn’t wine about it. She knew she made some bad choices and she admitted it… I respected her for that. Overall, I liked her…a lot!!!! And she overcame some serious shit in this book, and stood tall and claimed her man!!! (I mean her alien!!!) It wasn’t that I was necessarily stronger that them. Luxen were formidable opponents. I was fighting differently that I ever had before. It wasn’t about the age-old battle of Arum versus Luxen. I wasn’t fighting to feed or to work off aggression. I wasn’t fighting because I was told or was obligated.I was fighting for Serena. She meant everything to me.Knowing that, fully understanding what that meant, I was on a motherfucking warpath.I can’t say enough about this book, or Jennifer Armentrout!!!! I love this whole series, and I’m really intrigued with where the story is headed, with the Project Eagle and all that is involves!!!!! And yes… this book definitely had me feeling guilty for pulling for the Arum against the Luxen!!!!! I totally betrayed Daemon… and I couldn’t help it. (view spoiler)[Hunter’s fierce reclaiming of his woman at the end was just magnificent to witness!!!!! Take THAT Senator Vanderson, you asswipe!!!!! (hide spoiler)]Her scream echoed through my soul, and at that moment, I knew I had one. Human or not, it rocked me to my very core.I LOVE LOVE LOVED this book, and highly recommend it…. But remember, read the Luxen series first!!!!! Great book!!!!!!!!!!!!Serena hadn’t backed away or hesitated. She accepted me, all of me. She always had.I slipped into my human form, cradling her against me. The words, they came out easier than I ever thought they would. “I love you.”here are my pics...Hunter[image error]Serena Cross[image error]["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Buddy Read with my darling Pavlina!! *****5 WELL DESERVED STARS***** (Please excuse the language added in my review and I tried to make as spoiler free as I can :))Its hard when you read a book that's so AWESOME, MIND BLOWING, FANTASTIC, OUT OF THIS WORLD (literally) and then try to explain how good it is in a review. This book has pretty much left me speechless and not knowing where to start. Its was so FUCKING good, in every way. The characters are to die for, the plot really draws you in from start to finish, and lets not forget the steamy scenes that had me blushing and eyeing out my bookshelf *wink* and daydreaming my version of Hunter, a bookshelf, and me against it *sigh*.Hunter has to be one of my most FAVORITE hunky, sexy, gorgeous, sarcastic and arrogant (bossy too) PNR hero's I've come across."Look, things will be easier for you here if you get used to the way it needs to be."This was going to be dandy. "And how is that?""You do as I say. It's that simple." Fucking humans and their overpopulated, congested, and noisy cities fell into the top ten things that pissed me off."Not to burst your preconceived notions of me, but do I look like I care?"He seriously cracked me up like all the way through the book LOLI LOVED Serena! She was such a good match for Hunter. She never took shit from him without giving it back in double. "Why can you listen then and not any other time?" "Beacuase I like to know what is going on, you giant dickhead."Reading about their arguments and bantering was so much fun to be apart of :D"Please don't-""Please don't what? Strangle the ever-loving common sense into you? I might do that." There was a pause and his chest rose against mine. "Jesus H. Christ, woman I didn't sign up for this. I think you gave me a flesh wound.""Are you done acting like a psychotic, cracked-out Muppet baby?""Or do you need a couple more moments to return to sanity? I have all day. And you actually feel kind of good under me, so take your time."Jokes aside, the romance in this book was not only sexy but so beautiful too. To take Hunter a "I don't care about humans, I only want to get into your pants and get on with my day" and thrust him in a situation where he could say 'fuck it' and not change, or sacrifice his entire existence for the woman he loves, was a WOW for me. Seeing him open up and surprised by his feelings for the cute and feisty Serena was so loving and endearing to read about.I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this book and I'm hoping for more *fingers crossed* Arum in the near future. This is a MUST read PNR lovers!!

I know my review would never do this book justice but hey at least I tried, right? In case you're wondering, yes, the Queen of Everything Jennifer L. Armentrout has done it again. OBSESSION was everything I hoped for and more. I was dying for this book ever since she gave us some teasers last May and NOW I actually can't believe I've finally read it! Hunter is definitely the baddest hot male character Jen has ever written. EVER. He's also my favourite which says a LOT. Sorry Daemon and Cam but Hunter is definitely kicking both your asses. Hunter is not your typical hero. First, I doubt you'd even like him at the beginning. He's an ARUM - besides being one of the 'bad guys', he's also cold, an alpha male, has an ego the size of the planet and with such arrogance that will put Daemon to shame. But as you read on, you just can't help but really fall in love with him. I KNOW I DID. Like Serena says "You're more than a weapon, Hunter. So much more." There is so much more to him and by the end of the book, I'm oh so ready to marry and have his babies. YUM.If you love how feisty Alex and Katy are, then you'd adore Serena!! Serena made me laugh as much as Hunter did, and I love how big her heart is and how feisty she is with Hunter. She NEVER backs down from him and I just love their interactions. If you love Daemon and Kat's banter, you'd LOVE Hunter and Serena's. Made me laugh so much! You know what's so great about all this? Besides the sexy romance (which is my fav), there was this whole thing between the Luxen, Arum, the government and even humans. Those who've read the Lux series will obviously know more, but you can also read this as a stand-alone (she explains everything perfectly). And I really admire how Jen wrote this whole alien war thing being not just black and white. There's soooo many gray areas, and to be honest, there's NO good guy or bad guy. In the YA series, we get the Luxen point of view and we all deemed the Arum as the stupid ugly bad guys. But it's so far from that. I'm so thankful to JLA for writing this from the supposed enemy point of view. Arum can be just as interesting and good as the Luxen. I'm so not Team anybody. I love both the Luxens and Arums. :) If you thought that JLA couldn't write her books any more hotter, well then you're SO wrong. Hands down, OBSESSION is her hottest and sexiest book so far. I read a lot of adult/new adult smexy stuff, but some of the stuff here made me blush. The scenes are so beautifully written and not just there for the sake of it. (Definitely not for the younger readers but I am nearly an adult so :P)You're all probably so tired of me going on and on about Jen's fabulous writing, but I gotta say it again. She's one hell of a writer. Guys, she's one of the actual few who makes me WANT to lose sleep just because I HAVE to know what happens next. I started this in the late evening and didn't finish until the morning. (Which probably wasn't a good idea since I had a test in the morning but OH SO WORTH IT GUYS.) OBSESSION has a mix of everything you want: characters you can never get enough of, smexy romance with a touch of action and humour and basically just everything else ahhhhhh. GOSH IS IT SO OBVIOUS HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS BOOK? There's just so much I want to say about OBSESSION but I really can't so..*zips lips* But yes, some characters from the Lux YA series does make some appearances ;) And now I also kinda know why the fourth Lux book is called ORIGIN. *grin* This is so going on my favourites list and no doubt this will come up when I do my yearly Top 10 lists. My only wish is it: Can I have this on paperback please?? I NEED THIS ON MY SHELF. And...because I'm such a nice person, I'll end this review with one of my fav quotes from OBSESSION: ""You're more than a weapon, Hunter. So much more.""With you? I am more, but not with anyone else. " So many hugs and thanks to the lovely people at Entangled - Liz Pelletier and Heather Riccio!! :DAnd of course to my fav author ever Jennifer L. Armentrout for being so awesome to her fans and for writing the best stories ever.

★ 1 very slow star ★ *Yawn*..The story-line was so predictable,I saw the ending coming light-years away. Its great that Hunter found his Serena and Serena found her Hunter..But could some-one please help ME find the story-line in all this ? Cause all I read was both of them going at it like bunnies.By the time we reached the book's climax and the heroine decides to (view spoiler)[avenge her best friend's murder..who I don't know..Just HAPPENS TO BE AN ALIEN/FREAKIN SENATOR of the state when she has NO MONEY,NO RESOURCES,NO TRANSPORT and absolutely ZERO CONNECTIONS.And then very predictably gets caught. (hide spoiler)]I mean girl ! What did you think was going to happen ?!?Ugh ! Whats so frustrating was that this book had SO MUCH POTENTIAL from the very beginning.I'm just not sure where that all went :/["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I really enjoyed this one.. and it was great getting to see a different side to the Arum than we get to see in the Lux novels..there are obviously good and bad Arum along with good and bad Luxen. I almost felt a disconnect throughout this book with Hunters hate for the Luxen considering how LOVE Daemon ( Lux series) but I still like him.. He was hot and alpha protective over Serena. Took him a while to come around and I enjoyed their back and forth bantering. I wouldnt say I enjoyed this one as much as I enjoy the Lux books but it was good :)

BR with Jo and Sammy 7/16/13-7/20/13(This was a re-read for me)~~~~My Original review from 6/7/13~~~~5 STARSLet me start by saying that if you haven't read Opal from the Lux series, I'd suggest NOT reading this book until you do. At about 83% into the book, even though names are not mentioned- Daemon makes an appearance and the cliffhanger in Opal is referenced.I absolutely LOVED Hunter in this book, but you will NEVER hear me say anything remotely positive about any Arum when I'm reading a book in any Lux series- I already feel like I'm betraying Daemon by saying anything remotely positive about any Arum since they are the Luxen's mortal enemies LOL.This books begins where Serena's out with her friend Mel is talking about how she overhear the Senator Vanderson's sons arguing about something to do with how their father was going to ruin things with Daedalus and a Project Eagle and something to do with children in Pennsylvania. When their argument got heated, Mel said that they both lit up like a "glow worm". Because she was witness to this and the argument, when Serena and Mel leave the bar they are at, Serena witnesses a Luxen approach Mel's car and he blows it up, killing Mel in the process. Because Serena witnessed what happened- now the Senator has Luxen coming after her to kill her. This is how Hunter is introduced, he's at the airport- bound for the backwoods of West Virginia when he gets a call from Officer Zombro from DOD and is told that he needs to drop his plans and he will be watching over Serena since she has Luxen after her and it's his job to not only protect her, but find out how much she knows."During her police interview, Miss Cross relayed some information that the Daedalus is concerned about. Some key words that they are not familiar with.""She mentioned something about a Project Eagle. The Daedalus would like to know what this is"Hunter is not at all pleased about his assignment.Sitting around, behaving, and being the Department of Defense's bitch was not in my nature.I was not happy about this. There wasn't a patient bone in my body and the only reason I was ever around a woman was to sate a primal hunger. I didn't protect them. It wasn't in my nature, and the officers knew that. I wasn't the good guy here. There was a good chance I'd kill Miss Cross.Hunter and Serena were attracted to each other from the start. This man, with his deep voice and odd eyes, had to exude some kind of epic sex pheromones because I had a sudden image of us in a bed, our bodies twisting and rocking together.Part of the fun was that, while they had an attraction, they irritated each other and made each other angry and the banter between them was hilarious! After one of the times Hunter gave into temptation and fed on Serena, she was so pissed off that she started throwing things at him, and she was elbowing him also so Hunter ended up pinning her to the bed to get her to stop. I couldn't move-couldn't breathe. Hunter weighed a ton, and every part of him that touched me was hard and cool. Heart racing into cardiac territory, I went completely still."Are you insane?" he growled. "Look at me!"Shaking my head frantcally, I kept my eyes squeezed shut. "Please don't-""Please don't what? Strangle the ever-loving common sense into you? I might do that." There was a pause and his chest rose against mine. "Jesus H. Christ, woman, I didn't sign up for this. I think you gave me a flesh wound."I pried open one eye, and then both. Those startling pale eyes, full of anger, fixed on mine."Are you done acting like a psychotic, cracked out Muppet baby?" he asked, and I could tell by the way his fingers spasmed around my wrists, he really wanted to shake. "Or do you need a couple more moments to return to sanity? I have all day. And you actually feel kind of good under me, so take your time."---------Good God, I wanted to hit him. "You fed off me, dude. I can't even categorize how messed up that is. That's not okay.""I'll tell you what's not okay, is you throwing shit at me." Curiosity marked his expression. "Why did you throw something at me?" When I didn't answer, a muscle popped in his jaw. "You're not going to answer me? Or do I need to repeat myself for a third time? It's okay. I like to hear myself talk."In a second, anger and irritation roared through me. Something about his cocky tone pissed me off. So did my body's reaction to him. Parts of me were all kinds of tingly, especially when I wiggled again and felt him twitch."Get off me." I tried to push him off, but that didn't work. "Get off me now!"Or what?" He tilted his head down so that his mouth was inches from mine. "You going to pick up a picture frame next and wing it at my head?""Maybe," I snapped back."Then I can't let you up."I stared at him in disbelief and sputtered, "You can't - Get off!"One single brow arched up. "I can't get off? Oh, I most definitely can get off."The flush increased until I felt like I was under the sweltering sun. Muscles in my stomach tightened. "That's not what I meant and you know it.""Hmm, so you you say"I'm not going to go into details of the whole story plot, as I don't want to give too much away, but I will say that as the attraction grows, Hunter gets more protective of Serena. He goes as far as killing Luxen and even killing the DOD agents that had originally assigned him to her when they had come to his house to kill her, to keep her safe. Hunter and Serena go on the run and he even removes and destroyed his opal anklet that has a tracker in it so the DOD can't track them. There's so much more to that story, but you'll just have to read the book to find out more. The chemistry between Serena and Hunter was explosive and the sex scenes in this book were more explicit than anything I've read in the Lux novels (not that I'm complaining). It was also interesting to hear from a Arum first hand what their lives are like and the different facts about the Luxen and Arum from an Arum's POV. In the Lux novels, you are led to believe that pretty much all Luxen are good and the Arum are all bad, but when you read this book, you realize that there is good and bad with both the Luxen and the Arum.I found it funny all the ways they described the Luxen throughout the book: Glow worm, light bulb, glowworm mafia of the universe, Glow sticks, Lite-Brite, guy who lit up like a Christmas tree, Rainbow Brite, glowbug, among many others.I loved how Hunter and Serena's relationship slowly progressed and they eventually fell in love with each other."Want to know a secret?""Depends."He chuckled. "It's about the moment I knew I wanted you, that you'd be mine. That I'd fall in love with you."Hearing him say that affected me deeply. It took a moment to speak. "When?""Sooner than you'd think.""When?" I asked."The first day you were in my cabin. When you threw the statue at my head."-------------"You turn me on. You make me care about things I never cared about before. You make me think. You make me warm." ~Hunter to Serena-------------My future was one big fat unknown, but with Hunter by my side, I knew we'd make it. Things might not be orthodox or how I pictured spending my life, but I was alive and I was with someone I loved. However, I did know that things wouldn't be easy.My life was forever altered and would never, ever be the same. Maybe one day I could go back to a job like I had before. Maybe a million aliens would descend on Earth tomorrow. But right now? I had to live in the right now.If you have read Opal already, I highly recommend this book! It was fantastic!

Well, there are lots of fabulous reviews on this one already, so I'll make this short and sweet. It is just as good as everyone has been saying. Totally lived up to the hype.I ADORED Hunter. He was an awesome mix of sexy arrogance that I just found too damn appealing to resist. Serena was great too. She was feisty, and didn't let Hunter walk all over her. Their banter was great - sexy and fun. I loved it. My interested was peaked by some of the new characters - "the kid" Luc, who seems to be something new entirely, and Lore, hunters brother. I wouldn't mind seeing both of them again sometimeMy mind was totally set fire by some of the revelations of the Atrum vs Luxen conflict. I've still managed to refrained from reading Opal, so I don't know if this is all new to everyone, but the whole Project Eagle thing had me in a tailspin. I've gotta say, ('cause it's my pet peeve) that I did think that the time from meeting to the exchange of "I love you's" was rushed. I get that this is supposed to be Hunter and Serena's only book, but I found it stretched believability. On the flip side, I guess if I had to choose for there to be resolution (which we got) , or for us to be left hanging, I'd still have chosen resolution, even though it cam with some semi-insta love. Anyway, anyone who's a fan of the Lux novels should devour this, and really, if you haven't read them yet - what the heck are you waiting for?

Holy Alien Hotness… what an amazing book! Jennifer Armentrout always delivers, but she really outdid herself with this one. I devoured this book and, when it was over, I wanted to read it again. I bow down to you, Jennifer Armentrout, for writing awesome stories that rock my world into oblivion! This is a spin-off book from the Lux series, but it can read as a stand-alone. We learn in Obsession there are two sides to the Luxen and Arum alien species. The Arum, in the Lux series, are known as ruthless assassins who hunt down those who don’t abide by the ‘rules.’ The Luxen and Arum have been mortal enemies for centuries. In the Lux series, the Arum are hated. But, in Obsession, the Luxen are depicted as the bad guys. Jennifer Armentrout has written a clever story that shakes up the dynamics between the Luxen and Arum. She’s changed everything we thought we knew about these two alien groups. And now Jennifer made me fall in love with Hunter, an Arum, who turns out to be the most incredible hero. Obsession opens up with Serena Cross and her best friend, Melanie, talking in a bar where Melanie is freaking out after witnessing the sons of a powerful Senator turning into light bulbs. What she actually saw was an Alien species called Luxen in his true form. But Melanie and Serena don’t know this since they’re human. And, of course, Serena didn’t believe her friend, thinking maybe Melanie has finally lost her marbles. But when Serena witnesses her friend being killed by an alien, Serena realizes her friend was telling the truth after all. Witnessing her friend’s death has now put Serena in danger, so the Department of Defense has asked Hunter, a hired assassin for the DOD, to protect Serena from the Luxen who want her dead. Now Serena finds herself under Hunter’s protection in his home in Virginia.Move over Daemon (from the Lux series), there is a bigger, badder, sexier Alien in town. I’m totally crushing on Hunter, who is ruthless, sexy, unapologetic, and a bad ass fighter with an even badder attitude. Oh yes, my kind of hero. Hunter may not be happy to be saddled with babysitting Serena, but there is something about her that he’s completely drawn to. He wants her and not just for a quickie. Not that he’s against a quickie. There is something more between them that is almost… electric. Arum feed off Luxen and humans for substance and power – almost like a Succubus. And Hunter has never even thought about being with a human, unless it’s to have sex with them or feed from them. Serena is a human who has feelings and emotions. Hunter doesn’t DO feelings and emotions. Yet he begins to care for this woman who challenges everything he’s ever thought he knew about himself. Serena, who is light to Hunter’s dark, is exactly the kind of woman Hunter needed. This stubborn, feisty woman doesn’t put up with Hunter’s bad attitude. She may be small but she’s not afraid of the big, bad alien. And she is definitely not afraid to put him in his place when he is being an asshole. She doesn’t want to be protected or left in the dark. She wants to know what she’s up against. This leaves Hunter with no choice but to show her exactly who he is. And, to Hunter’s surprise, Serena was not afraid to see his true form that is a hulking shadow that should’ve intimidated her. Hunter finds her feistiness amusing and sexy at the same time. In turn, Serena is intoxicated by Hunter and intrigued by everything that makes up this man. These two may butt heads, but have great chemistry. I loved watching the chemistry sizzle between them as they banter back and forth. “I don’t like being bossed around.” [Serena]“You like it when I tell you to open your legs for me” [Hunter]Of course, there are some delicious and sexy hot scenes between Hunter and Serena. These two are oh, so very HOT when they took all that sizzling energy between them and put it to good use… in the bedroom. Hunter definitely knows how to seduce a woman and get her all hot and bothered. I can’t help but love his domineering, rough side…My next words came out as a low, harsh grow. “I can promise you that sex with me won’t be about long, soft pets or whispered words. I like rough and raw, but your pleasure will always come first. Every single time.”As things heat up between Serena and Hunter, danger continues to lurk around the corner. Serena’s life will never be the same now that she knows about the aliens. Will Hunter continue to protect Serena’s life and sacrifice everything when all hell breaks loose? Action packed, sexy as hell romance, bad ass hero, feisty heroine, well developed plot, fantastic storyline, and awesome secondary characters… what more could you want out of an adult paranormal romance!?! Obsession is an impressive stand-alone. But I don’t want it to be a stand-alone. I want MORE! I’ve become completely addicted to the Arum world and can only hope and beg and plead with the author to write more books. I feel like there is more to this story that needs to be told. I would love a book each for Lore and Sin – Hunter’s brothers. Whether it’s Young Adult, New Adult, or Adult, I will continue to read anything this author writes. Jennifer Armentrout is that good.
