This book is about an boy and his dad who spend the day together. I like this book because it can relate to families who have just one parent in the household. First, the duo spends the a lot of time cleaning the house, folding clothes, doing dishes, and vacuuming. This is another reason I enjoyed this book, because it shows two males engaging in household roles that are generally assigned to women. Through this book, young children are able to see that different families spend their time together in different ways, and that the roles of people in the family can be different from what they experience at home. After all the cleaning is done, the father and son go play baseball and then to the movies. This book promotes healthy relationships and social-emotional stability. Certain strategies or lessons about the differences in families and social emotional well being could be embedded throughout this book.

Sadly, in my teaching experience I have already come across many students who do not have many positive male figures in their lives. Many of my cooperating teachers I have worked with request me to work with their male students because they lack them in their home lives. This is a great book because it explores the bond between a son and father, something that many students may yearn for. For my future students I could use discussion or writing to have them come up with other activities they would like to do with their dads. I liked this book because it eludes to problems males face, when often it seems like men cannot talk about their problems.

Wonderful book for phonological awareness skills. Plenty of alliteration and rhyming throughout. I really enjoy the idea of the boy and his father doing something that helps the mom. It also highlights that it's important to work before play. This story is very realistic and I think children would relate to it in many ways.

Wonderful story about what Kevin and his dad do together on weekends while his mom works. Good story for talking about family members. This is a nice way to introduce the different responsibilities family members have and how we need to all work together to make a family function. Just like a classroom...everyone has to do their part to make a classroom work right. Nice illustrations.

I love this book. For those students who may only have one parent, they could easily relate to this book. This book sends students a positive message about having fun after working hard and getting chores done. This book also played with rhymes and phonics so children could learn from the vocabulary and participate in the story as well.

This book is about Kevin spending time with his dad. They do different things all day long! It is a gret book which evokes excitement, pleasure, and love a boy can experience with his dad on a regular day. Great book to read on father's day!

Father and son spend the day together. Most of the day they clean up around the house, but then they go to the park, movies and out to eat. The simple joy of being together is the heart of this story. Acrylic illustrations. PreK-2.

Fathers play a very important role in young males lives. This would be a great book to read to your class so that students can relate to this story whether its their father or a father figure in their life.

Great for alliteration and rhyming. Also a great conversation starter about dads and things that students do with theirs or other adults in their home over the weekend (chores, movies, etc.)
