Dreams, Deceptions & Desires Reviews
Review: *Possible Spoilers*What a wonderful book! Set at the end of the Civil War, far out in nowhere-ville, Wyoming, Kate and Cody and John and Vivienne show us their lives in a town that figures out how to have balance and acceptance in a culturally diverse community. Beware though, I may let details slip here that you'd just as soon be unaware of!The Good: Black, white, Indian, half-breed...it mattered not. That is a pretty amazing thing, especially for that time period. I loved the the interactions between Kate and Cody and John and Vivienne. Barbara Sheridan managed to write this story in a comfortable and relaxed manner appropriate for the setting and it only added to my enjoyment of the book. The Bad: While I did like both John and Cody and I know it was a fairly common practice in those days but knowing they loved their women, I did not like nor understand why they couldn't they keep it in their pants instead of visiting the town bordello. I had a bit of a hard time following exactly what was going on with everyone in the beginning of the book but it straightened itself out eventually and although the story did seem a bit choppy here and there, overall, I really enjoyed reading it.The Snuggly: This is an erotic western romance novel with the descriptions and events written in settings appropriate to the time period. Kate was so wrapped up in her head, that she was a frustrating chase for Cody. When they did come together though, well, let's just say that I needed a fan.;) Now John and Vivienne? They had one sexy, sensual relationship from the get-go and it only got better and better. Love me some steamy and sensual relationships. Be aware that there is some rough language, again appropriate to the situation.Final Thoughts: Appropriate...the word I keep using over and over while talking about Dreams, Deceptions & Desires. Ms.Sheridan pulled this whole story together with a totally appropriate setting, characters, and problems. Sure there are problems relating to the Indians, what with the US having just suffered through the Civil War. The characters in this book don't try and pretend the problems in society don't exist they just make skin color a non-issue. It is an interesting book, well worth the time and cost. Yes, AT LEAST 4 stars.Note: I received nothing in order to participate in this promotion. Information provided by author Barbara Sheridan and CBLS Promotions. Opinions expressed are my own.
