I read book 1 and book 2 back to back so these are my thoughts on both of those books. This story is so much like a contemporary. Even though it has a supernatural element thrown in, I still think of this series as a contemporary series- is that weird? I really, really like it though. Kate is quirky and lovable, Jared is incredible, and the plot pacing is great. The Second Sight series is a keeper for me. I enjoyed getting to break through Kate's defenses. She certainly doesn't make it easy for people to get to know her, that's for sure. Jared had to go out of his way multiple times before she even admitted she was ok being friends with him. Her visions do affect her a little too much, I think. She needs to learn a little distance. (this is probably the only thing I agree with Declan about)Speaking of Declan, I don't like him. I don't necessarily think he is a bad person, I just don't like the things he has done since entering Kate's life. It seems like all he does is mess things up for her. He just needs to back off! Jared is so good for Kate and I think my heart broke a little at the end of New Revelations. I need Jared to be in book 3. I am fully on team Jared and I don't see anything swaying me from that choice. The Second Sight series is great for fans of supernatural, and mystery/crime solving books. Kate uses her gift to help locate missing persons, which is awesome. I loved both the personal life storyline about Kate and her family and friends just as much as the mystery storyline. I flew through these two books. I liked the first one a little more than the second one, but I think that is because Declan wasn't in the first one. I would give the first book 4-4.5 gavels and the second one 3.5-4 gavels. (overall it is 4) I am super excited to read book 3, but I basically only have two goals for the book. One for the romantic interest and two that Kate's vision doesn't come true. I have high hopes. I think the Second Sight series is great!

Wow, just wow! I started New Revelations (book 1) and didn't stop until I finished Second Sight (book 2) tonight - at 3.a.m.! Heather Wood is an amazing author. It is so hard for me to believe that New Revelations is her first book. I have read similar books in the past and this series ranks right at the top with the best authors out there!! Ms. Wood captured my attention on the very first page and it never slowed down or had a single lull.Second Sight took me through a journey that made me feel I was part of. I had such a mix of feelings. There are great "feel good" scenes with Kate and Jared. Then before you know it, you are right in the middle of such intense scenes as Kate's visions start, I even had the jitters reading it!This series is a MUST read!! I am ready for the next book NOW!!!I appreciate the author allowing me the opportunity to review her book and provide my honest feedback!

I liked the first book, but really loved the continuation of Kate's story. Some of the mistakes she made were hard to read, but I felt it made her more relatable and hurt for her when some of her errors came back to haunt her. Her chemistry was good with both men, but I'm on Team Jared all the way. The ending was a nail biter and I'm anxious to read the next book.

I needed my Jared Corbett fix, and boy was I happy! But gosh dammit Declan, you were hot and pissing me off at the same time!! All I kept thinking was this guy better not mess with Jared and Kate's relationship... And that ending, Heather you can't leave me hanging like this, I need book three immediately!

Oh boy. This book. What do you do if you like parts of the book but you think your heroine is a whiny, vapid brat? I had numerous problems with her character and ideas towards women. Kate Edwards is constantly jealous, insecure, immature, whiny, bitter, pissy, so MUCH OF A BRAT that I wanted to smack her...repeatedly...with a shoe. And what was the deal with her not eating? Like several actual discussions of her doing the maple syrup and cayenne pepper water diet. And did her best friend really tell Kate it was her fault that her boyfriend wasn't sleeping with her? Because there is some kind of time limit on things or whatever. And her best friend's boyfriend, yeah, he was an ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHOLE. That boyfriend of hers I can't tell what his deal is and whether I like him. On one hand, he seems too perfect and I don't believe he'd be attracted to someone as immature as Kate, so I thought he might have ulterior motives, but that didn't go anywhere, so I could be wrong about that. It would be far more interesting if he does have them, just saying. The new character of Declan interested me. He's the typical brooding stranger, hurt by the past, an outsider, and mysteriously sexy and looking at the heroine. I know it's been down a thousand times, but I still kind of liked him. I had zero idea why he'd like Kate, but maybe he's just a ho. But, OK, let's talk about the plot. The idea that Declan finds Kate so that they can maybe work together and earn extra money was actually smart on his part, but it just really didn't go anywhere. I mean Kate is still fixated on the case from the first book, the new case of the missing boy, and then another case of a missing woman. None of them got the focus and care they needed, though. A little bit of this and a little bit of that. No tension at all. No mystery. And then the book JUST ENDS. That made me very, very cranky. It. Just. Ends.Oh, but the prologue? I actually really loved that. The writing felt visual and I could see everything the author was painting for me. More of that and this would have been a very different review and rating.

As seen on my blog:*WARNING* Contains some spoilers for the first bookTalk about a prologue. New Revelations opened with a seriously intense scene-one that was almost reminiscent of a Gillian Flynn creation (YEAH, I totally just made a Gillian Flynn comparison). It was pretty exciting to find out that the Second Sight series had a second, and now third!, book out. The author kept the momentum exactly where it needed to be, and I couldn't find the time to turn these pages fast enough.Kate Edwards has accepted her fate: she's been given the gift of visions for a reason, and that reason is to help others find solace; find peace. It doesn't hurt that she is now the girlfriend of the man she fought tooth and nail for (almost literally). All is pretty much well in the world, until the day Kate catches Declan Brayden staring intently at her. Her luck increases, or decreases, when she learns that the creep staring is a Declan Brayden, a cocky fellow psychic who claims he can help her hone her skills. From that point on, it's a whole slew of trial and error, knowledge, conflicts, and visions of a missing girl that sends Kate into a frenzy.KATE & JARED: I couldn't have asked for better scenes and dialogue if I had asked Heather Topham Wood myself. I loved the build-up to their final pairing in the first book, and was so excited to see it somewhat unfold, and flourish in New Revelations. The introduction of Declan, at first, seemed a little premature, I didn't feel like there was enough conflict going on with Kate and Jared yet for there to be someone else thrown into the mix. However, I saw what the author did there. Making Declan a fellow psychic was pure GENIUS, and made for even more entertaining dialogue.I think I fell even more in comedic love with Kate in this book. I had almost forgotten how much I ADORED her snarkiness. I can't even express to you in intelligible words how refreshing it is to meet a female character who isn't afraid to speak her mind. I also appreciated that the author kept Kate the same physically. She isn't the "ideal" size 1, and can probably put some guys to shame with her appetite-I LOVED THAT. Throw in the fact that Jared obviously loves Kate exactly the way she is..and I think you've pretty much just made every.single. female reader deliriously happy. Forgot perfect, I'll take happy-in-her-own-skin ANY DAY.Declan was a great introduction to the series, and the like/hate thing he had going on with Kate was frustratingly entertaining. I'm anxious, and a little scared to find out, in the third book (Dark Premonitions), if he helped Kate with more than just perfecting her gift.Heather's writing is a joy to follow, and is so down to earth. New Revelations was definitely a lot darker and graphic than First Visions, but that only helped to respect her more as an author. She wasn't afraid to venture into uncomfortable territory-the key to success, in my opinion. I can't wait to read every single thing she puts out into the world.Recommended for: fans New Adult, paranormal, psychological thriller, contemporary, and romance.----------*DISCLAIMER* I requested this book from the author, in order to provide an honest review.

More Please! This book was so good that I read the next one right after I finished this one, and now I need the fourth book in this series stat, but sadly I have to wait until the fall.I can’t get enough of Kate Edwards and the awesome police detective that is Jared Corbett. Sigh. I LOVE these characters with just about every fiber of my being. I love them together as a couple and individually. Kate is back and better than ever with her snarky attitude and psychic abilities, not to mention her hot boyfriend Jared. Jared is just as swoon worthy as ever. Also, I can’t forget Kate’s awesome mom and her hilarious best friend who make for great minor characters. I missed these characters so much, and I read the first book only a little over a month ago. They are just so cute and charming and funny.I love the dialogue and the realness of this book. New Revelations has the perfect amount of humor thrown in, even though Kate is struggling with her visions and deals with horrific violent people. We get another missing person case, and I actually enjoyed this mystery/thriller part of the novel even more than the last. I mentioned in my review of the first novel that I loved how unique Kate's visions were and how they were treated by the public. In New Revelations, thanks to the new character Declan, Kate finds out more about her psychic abilities and finally gets some control over them, sort of. This was a great way to advance Kate’s ability in a believable way. The only problem, there is a semi-love triangle thanks to this new guy. Although I like Declan and his sometimes sweet but mostly jerkish attitude, I wasn't a fan how he complicated things between Jared and Kate. But at least it made the book even more realistic. I suppose no relationship is perfect, no matter how much I want it to be.The ending of this book will BLOW your mind! So I recommend that you have the third book ready to go for after you finish this one. You are going to need it. I finished New Revelations late one night and then as soon as I got home from work the very next day I read the next book. The only reason I gave this book a 4.5 instead of 5 stars is because there were a couple of very small moments where some of the characters acted a little childish and it seemed weird. But this was only a very tiny blip in the awesome book. This book won’t take you long to read and it was the perfect book to get my mind off of real life and to just sit back and enjoy reading about someone else’s. This is a great choice if you are looking for a quick fun read that can and will also get your heart pounding with suspense. Wood did another amazing job at writing a novel with the perfect amount of a little bit of everything, including romance, suspense, psychic powers, and great characters. What are you waiting for? ** I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. Thanks Heather!RATING 4.5/5 In case you missed it before, here is my 4.5 star review for Second Sight #1, First Visions.

I have been waiting for a while for New Revelations and was just so glad to have read it! There are definitely new twists in the second book of the Second Sight Series. If you have not read Book 1, I definitely think you should, because basically this story starts off a few weeks after where we left off in Book 1 so there might be some spoilers...I believe New Revelations is a wonderful second book in the Second Sight Series. I was brought back to familiar characters including Kate Edwards. I really liked her from the first book, and here, I definitely felt there was a little bit of character development that really showed me that she's maturing in a role of helping people, just really caring about those that she has not met, and she does this with her psychic gift, which she obtained about two years prior, when she woke up from a coma. I was also really happy that she and Jared were finally in a relationship, but...yes there's a but, because there's a new character in this series and that's Declan. He's also a psychic and really wants to get to know Kate and perhaps work together on future cases. She's reluctant at first, but she gives in, and realizes that she really needs a friend, someone like her with psychic abilities, around her, and I truly believe that Declan and she are good together with of course minor bumps along their friendship, but I actually started to like him myself. You read a little bit of his past, how he got his own psychic abilities, oh and yeah he's a little player too, but there's some good qualities about him, and towards the end, I was actually thinking that maybe he and Kate would be a couple, even though Jared is just a wonderful, well written character. So... I was just reading along, to see how it goes, and by the end, I was ok a little shocked about what happens, but...I look forward to reading the next book, because I was definitely left with questions and just an eagerness to read what happens next!Apart from relationships, this was also just a thrilling story to read as there are two major cases that Kate deals with and they are just so heartbreaking, but again written so well, that they seem so realistic. One case is at the beginning of the story; the other in the middle to the end. Again, I feel Kate has a bit of a stronger role, as in ways, she is really serious about how she can help two characters that are missing, one from each case, and there's definitely some mystery as we read clues from Kate's dreams/nightmares or visions that Declan has helped her to receive, so I just think it all made an intriguing read, along with the relationship/drama stuff :)Lastly, I just want to say that I really was intrigued on how New Revelations opened, as there's a vision played out, and I was actually anticipating that scene, but you just may be surprised, like I was, on where you read that scene again. I think that was pretty cool and for me, I already can't wait for Book 3! :)

I really think this series is awesome! The second edition of The Second Sight series was just as snarky and amazing as the first. The premise of the book is something that I haven't read, and it truly seems like it is something that could happen in real life. I like the cover, but the books seems more contemporary with a touch of paranormal that I think it would benefit a face lift. The writing is Third Person, which if you read any of my reviews of third person, you'd know that I'm not a big fan.. BUT Woods did an excellent job with it. I could completely relate to the main character. In the beginning of the book Kate struggled with the fact that she was psychic. She knew she wanted to help others but had no idea how to tap into her talents. After helping save a little boy Kate was plagued with guilt that she couldn't help him sooner. She was also just beginning to accept the fact that Jared, the hot detective was her new boyfriend. Jared was very swoony in this book! He was sweet and accepting of her gift, but he also wanted to take his time and do everything right by Kate. In the meantime, Kate meets Declan who was full of himself or "cocksureness" according to Kate. Declan was also psychic and he claimed to be able to help her control her visions. The two decide to work together to solve a missing persons case, but it seems that fate may have other plans for the two. Bonus PointsI loved the humor in this series, there were several points that I burst out laughing. I especially gave this bonus points for Julie, Kate's best friend. She is a complete spitfire and here's one of my favourite scenes between the friends:"I don't know why you even bring that loser up, I heard a rumor that he collects his belly button lint in a jar.""Julie, you spread that rumor," Kate reminded her matter of factly. Here's another funny scene from Kate:"What do you mean you're like me? You're obsessed with the Bachelor and have a fear of public restrooms?"I would definitely recommend this series!

As always I am falling more and more in love with Jared there's just something about him that makes me go crazy over him. He not only is charming, but he is also very funny and shows alot of charisma. When I read the first book I thought why would he do that to his girlfriend but then again I couldn't handle it I wanted a piece of him as well. There's something about him that you just can't resist, and that can get you in all sorts of trouble. Not only is their relationship tested but what other way to test it than with a new character. In this case Declan who brings so much more drama to the table I absolutely loved this book I didn't think anything could top the first one but man oh man was I terribly wrong. One thing I wasn't totally fond of was the fact that Kate was still acting like a 12 year old. I don't know why but I am tired of her being so childish in some parts. But then again characters have different things that makes them them. Without that it wouldn't be the same old Kate. I am always going to be rooting for Jared no matter who/what tries to get in their way. Because he sought her out and asked for her help he didn't think she was crazy he believed in her, so that just says it all right there. As always I love Heather's writing style and the way she pieces the story together and makes you want to jump in her books. Not only that but also the way she portrays every character, and how she instantly makes you fall in love with the characters except for the ones who aren't good people. I can say that I totally see myself reading each and every one of her books because I really enjoy them and I know I will enjoy her future work. The book was amazing as always the love between Jared and Kate I just love them together. I feel like they are perfect for each other and the book itself was excellent!

I bought this book on Amazon. First Visions, #1 in the Second Sight series, was such a good read! I was super excited to get hold of book two. Now, for my review. From a reader's perspective:New Revelations moved at a good pace. There was a cute love triangle that left me gasping for air at the end. I can't decide who I want to see Kate with. Pragmatic Jared or sexy dangerous Declan. EEK! Kate's visions were well done and the way they happened left me with a good sense of her abilities growing stronger in this novel. I lamented the absence of a spine-tingling love scene while at the same time loving the scenes of closeness that did manage to unfold. Declan really interested me and I hope he makes an appearance in future novels in this series. I want to know more about him. The cliffhanger in the end was great and I'm looking forward to book 3.From an editor's perspective:There were many pronoun mix-ups, a lot of misspelled words, and misuse of common quips (perhaps on purpose) but nothing that threw me out of the story completely. This book wasn't quite as well edited as book one.My rating:1 Star for a loveable protagonist1 Star for a great pace1 Star for a love triangle I couldn't get out of1 Star for a brutally awesome ending-1 Star for general editing needs4 out of 5 stars. Overall, a great story with great characters. Highly recommended.

I was so happy I got a chance to review the second book in a series I know I will love. We have good old Kate back again with her psychic prowess, but alas she hasn't yet come to terms with her psychic powers. In this novel she is just as plagued with the feelings that she can’t save them all. We also see ultra hot Jared Corbett as her now ultra hot boyfriend. Jared is great for Kate and says just the right things to her. This book is just as good, if not better than the first. Kate’s snarky comments and relentless clipped tones make me love her. She is a very human, very likable character. One of the things that struck me about the first book was realism and tangibility the characters brought. This book is no different and I can’t wait to see more from Heather Topham Wood!

I received this from goodreads along with the first book in the series First Vision. I loved them both..and I am definitely going to be reading more of this authors work. I was totally drawn into Kate's life and how she saw visions of those who had been abducted, but then with that knowledge, all the media it focused on her made her turn her gift inwards and pretend she didn't have it anymore. In the second book New Revelations she comes around to understanding that it is a great gift she has and that she can help others with the gift. She has to make a choice between her boyfriend and another pyschic. It is a great read and makes you root for her and that she can help others..and also you feel the frustration that the media caused her to become so reclusive.

I am totally digging this series. What kind of mess will Kate get into now? Lets just say a new character named Declan shows up and I'm not overly fond of him. He is arrogant and pushy. Honestly I'm not even sure how honest he has been. But Kate and Declan start working together which in the end puts a strain on Kate and Jared relationship. The ending... I am very very disappointed in Kate but at the same time I kinda sorta get it. Although I seriously didn't want to. But then she manned up and I felt pride in her for doing that. Because the end result wasn't pretty in fact I hated it. And of course the final scene tripped me out. Now I need the next book.

Wow, I really had a hard time putting this book down and I read a lot of books! The second book in the 'Second Sight' series, Heather pens "New Revelations" a suspenseful, supernatural romance with a plot that flows nicely and characters that are believable and realistic. This is one book that will capture your attention and not let go until your finished, but beware there is a cliffhanger at the end. I can't wait for the third in the series to come out! A total must read for all suspense and supernatural romance fans. This review is based on a complimentary copy which was provided for an honest review.

Another great book!Kate finally gets the guy but has severe insecurities about Jared's relationship with his ex, Nikki. While trying to do the normal college thing Kate meets Declan, another psychic who is in it for the money not necessarily helping the families like Kate.Declan is a bit different from Kate, he can sometimes see the future, and one vision has Kate nervous, them hooking-up. While Kate is off trying to help a family find a missing girl, her and Decaln grow closer. While Nikki tires to destroy Kate and Jared.

Even if you haven't read the first in the series, you can enjoy this book about psychic Kate and her antics. This one brings in a new character named Declan who causes all sorts of drama. Loved it and I'm hooked on the series! The end was so good and I wasn't able to stop reading until the last page.

As with the first book of the series, I loved this one and will not so patiently wait for the third one to be released. I love the depth of the characters. I feel like I am in their world as I am reading. I can see Kate, Jared and Declan. Although the impatient side of me struggles, I like that this book is leaving me wonder what Jared and Kate's relationship will be next time around!

Oh this book was fabulous and a lot better written than book 1. I loved every bit of it. The crisis and confusion that Kate goes through, Jared's feelings for her, Declan's devil may care attitude. Oh and the cliffhanger at the end.....fabulous, but cruel.

travelling home by coach you have hours to pass and this was done with a book...have to admit apart from the annoying scenes with the detective i found the two cases that she was involved with very captivating...it really held my interest....hope she sorts out her love life cos it interferes with a good story...in fact i am looking forward to the next book eagerly with what i know is about to happen...more of the second sight and less of the other thats what i want to read about...

I had three issues with the book. I could have enjoyed this more because I like the idea of Kate and her struggles, but also her newly developed need to help too. However, those three issues, and they are not small ones either. First, there was Kate herself. She was constantly fluctuating between being insecure, immature, whiny, and just plain annoying that I struggled to see past that to her at least starting to come to terms with her gift. Her need to help others was refreshing even as she struggled to get a handle on the how. Enter Declan. Almost a blessing in disguise, but my issue number 2. He had potential to be a great friend and someone who could relate that she could sound things off with. Instead, he became a threat to her relationship. I HATE love triangles. Not that this was that exactly, but even the idea of it bugs the crap out of me. Especially since Kate is not an easy person to like so why would two men compete for her? Although to be fair, Declan wanted Kate for her ability and of course, sex. That was the one thing about him I disliked. He was a complete douche hitting on someone involved with someone else and the fact that she let him get into her head enough to question her relationship with Jared just pissed me off. How she didn't see right through him...well, she did...she was just stupid enough to still fall for it. Jared doesn't play as big a role in this one, but I still liked him and the fact that he could be someone to help Kate GROW THE HELL UP. She gets angry her dad treats her like a child still, but she acts like one at times. Last issue. The situation with the missing girl. It felt kind of anticlimactic. Like the most important thing to take away from that is how it leads to her destroying her relationship with Jared. I would have liked to have seen more there. The little boy one was pretty good. There was definitely a lot to like about the story, but as I said, for me, there were a few things that either missed the mark or were annoying. I'll read the next book with the hope that Kate has learned something from this one, but lord help me if she is still as bratty as she was in this one.
