This is a delightful book. There are varied stories which reflect his love for nature. Through this book Ruskin Bond wants to say that there are beautiful relationships in this world. The one you have with nature, the one whom you have with your grandparents, pets your house etc. The first few stories start with friendships between the kids- village school kid’s life. Later on, few ghosts come into the picture, few friendly and few naughty but never was scary like those in the Hollywood’s horror movies, telling us perhaps that we all co-exist. Through this book, I travelled up and down the hills through various bends and noticing flowers, leopards, tigers, ghosts and some heart-warming friendships. He ends the book with a short summary of how he lead his life from that of being bachelor to now a beloved grandfather. He even shoots up an invitation to readers to come up and visit him. I know I would love to. Perhaps you would consider the same. Read this book and slip away to your childhood memories and those unknown Mussoorie plains.

This book is humorous and a great peek in the lives of children. From how a child waits eagerly for his cherry tree to grow to the ghost who loves to play pranks at the house. Ruskin's style is highly prominent in this fun anthology.
