At 39 years old, Kayte has a good job as the Vice President of Marketing, a cute house, but no one to come home to … unless you count her loyal, furry companion, Dylan. Ever since the man she thought she would spend the rest of her life with, Simon, broke up with her four years prior, Kayte has been single. Kayte who is otherwise optimistic, happy and naturally romantic has become skeptical that she would never find true love. In the past she would reluctantly agree to be set up on dates only to be disappointed with the outcome. Agreeing to one last blind date, Kayte experienced the date to end all dates … aka, Roger! At first glance he appeared to be what Kayte would typically be attracted to with his broad shoulders and muscular arms. Let’s just say that looks can be deceiving. After experiencing the date from hell, she decided that she was done with blind dates. No longer would she agree to going on one. Come to think of it, she just might be done with dating altogether. While sharing the events of her blind date with her best friend, Chloe, Kayte was made an offer she couldn’t refuse. Chloe introduced Kayte to the wonderful world of online dating. How cool would it be to have scads of single men at your fingertips … literally? With a few strokes of her keyboard she was well on her way to finding love in Cyber Land … or was she? Join Kayte as she goes on her dating journey with some interesting, funny and some downright scary men. Will she find her soul mate? Or will her quest be one big cyber nightmare? Eloves Me, Eloves Me Not is the first novel by author, L.A. Johannesson. Working the past 20+ years in the marketing and communications field, Johannesson decided to trade her corporate life for a shot at being an independent novelist. I found her first novel to be a fun, witty read with lots of humor and laughs. The characters were very likeable and some that you could really relate to. Kayte and Chloe share a bond that reminds me of the bond that I have with some of my girlfriends. I enjoyed reading this book and found it to be well written and flow easily. Overall, I would give this book a four out of five star rating and definitely recommend this book to others.

You know you've read a good book when it changes the way you look at the world. I don't think that was L.A. Johannesson's purpose for writing this book. In fact, I'm fairly certain I'm not even her target demographic. Nonetheless, I feel I am a slightly different person now that I've read this book. What eloves me, eloves me not does so well is put you completely in the mind of lead character Kayte. I felt I was inside a woman's mind. For that reason alone, this is a book every man should read. The synopsis is simple. Kayte is a successful business women married to her job rather than a man. She decides it's time to change that and, at the prodding of a friend, tries online dating. From this starting point, the novel takes on a journey of personal discovery as Kayte discovers what she wants and doesn't want in her life. Johannesson has a crystal-clear writing voice that helps the reader live inside Kayte's mind. There are no car chases nor are they any alien invasions. What rests at the center of eloves me, eloves me not is a journey to connect in a digital age. Kayte also learns online dating is not magic. She comes to realize that the mystery of how we find the love of our lives remains that: a mystery. How does it end? Read and find out.

I enjoyed this book. It has some really fun and quirky characters and a great storyline that often takes you in completely different directions to what you expected. Kayte is a likeable character and was very relatable - she reminded me a lot of someone I know! I also liked the way the story managed to weave some really good advice about online dating throughout, so that as well as having an enjoyable read, I learned a few things along the way. I enjoyed the use of technology throughout the story, but liked that it was done in such a way that the book was still all about relationships and the search for real love and it didn't get bogged down in the technology.I particularly liked the fact that this was an witty story, with intelligent characters and a clever plot. This is no dumb romance tale, but a well written clever story with contemporary themes and believable characters.I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great romance story with a difference.

This story follows the lovelorn Kayte and her quest to find love through online dating. I found the stories of some of the men she met to be hilarious. The descriptions of how badly the date was going were definitely something that kept me reading. I got a sense that Kayte finally learned in the process of online dating what she actually wanted from a man and a relationship. Sort of a coming-of-age with her own preferences and desires. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a witty and fun read about romance and all the ways that it can go wrong sometimes.~ Crystal

    L. A. Johannesson’s debut novel eloves me, eloves me not introduces readers to thirty-nine year old Kathleen “Kayte” Wexford. She’s a single woman who will go to any lengths necessary to locate the physical manifestation of her ideal Mr. Right. To help make that happen, one of her best friends has recently introduced her to the world of online dating. Is Kayte’s soul mate out there somewhere in cyberspace just waiting to be discovered or is she destined to grow old alone? There’s only one way to find out for sure…And find out she will, but first a disclaimer: this novel is chick lit. Why am I telling you this? There are several reasons. First, being male, I’m clearly not the target audience for the genre. Second, eloves me is not the type of book I generally tend to read. Third, I generally shy away from trying to categorize a piece of fiction when reviewing it, but here I think it’s important to mention in order to establish the proper context. As you can tell from the overall typewriter rating above, I had some issues. However, if you’re a fan of this particular genre and the type of storytelling it tends to offer, your experience may vary.READ MORE:http://www.typographicalera.com/elove...

I received this book through first reads. Thanks so much! I really enjoyed this book. The characters were relatable and likeable. I myself have never tried online dating but really loved reading about Kayte's experiences that were both funny and moving. There was also just the right amount of comedy and smut that keeps me reading. I really loved the ending it was something I was kind of expecting but a great way to end a great book. I would recommend this book to others and would love to read more fun books by this author!

A well-written and compelling tale about navigating on the virtual dating scene. The characters are well drawn, the plot keeps you guessing till the last minute.I'm usually wary about romance stories, as I've been disappointed so many times by poor writing and boring stereotypes. It was not the case here, and it was truly refreshing.
