Mrs Beeton's Puddings. by Isabella Beeton Reviews
I actually really enjoy this series that seeks to bring Mrs Beeton's classic British cookery into the modern world but I often find them to be a bit too slim. For instance, puddings make up only 5 recipes-2 of which are crust. The rest are other desserts, cordials and jellies, and digestifs. It must be said that I don't use puddings as an all-purpose word for desserts-that-are-not-cake-or-biscuit but still, I know that in 1861 they made many more boiled and steamed puddings than offered in this volume. Nevertheless, if you are interested in the more arcane traditional British desserts like cremet this is the book for you.
