I enjoyed this book and think that it would be a wise addition to the class library. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the entire book explains how a fossil is actually formed. The illustrations are very supportive to the text on each page. I think this book is written in a way that makes fossils "cool" and allows the reader to learn about them without feeling like they are in a science lesson. The back of the book shares a bibliography and a page of fossil evidence. I appreciate that they included these two things, as the teacher I would use the fossil evidence page for a guided reading lesson. The bibliography is nice if you are seeking any additional information on the topics covered, something you do not find in many children's books. This book would work well in any K-3 classroom.

A beautiful poem about an ornithocheirus from its life during the Mesozoic era to its death and transformation into fossil which is finally discovered by a little girl. Beautifully written and illustrated. A very poetic dinosaur book for a change. Includes a scientific explanation in the back and a full bibliography.

I loved this poetic, wistfully-illustrated approach to the life & fossilizaiton of a pterosaur -- however, it didn't quite capture my son's imagination; a dinosaur book for young children this is not.

PICTUREThis book is a great book for showing how fossils come about. It is definitely a book for older children as the vocabulary is pretty advanced.
