Reviewed by RobinBook provided by the publisherOriginally posted at Romancing the BookSometimes it is hard to convey everything you want to in such a short story. But when the author is able to do it…well it makes for a nice easy read with a little bit of a heat level to keep the most discerning of readers entertained. I did find a few minor flaws but nothing that hindered from the overall story.Have you ever had a broken nose? I came close in college. I was coming back to the dorm from class and some of the cute boys were throwing the football…next thing I know I was hit in the nose. (I got to meet the cute guy I was watching); this isn’t how it happened for Cherish/Cherry but, same kind of outcome. She actually got her nose broken. I can’t give away everything so I will omit the reason why.Anyhow she finds herself in a predicament and the only person she can turn to is Cooper her one night stand. Which by the way was rather hot…Cherry was spunky where Cooper tended to be a little aloof, they both made each other laugh, both were sexy…perfect right well, not really. Things never run that smooth. They were each in rival biker gangs as if that wasn’t enough they were both VP. Not knowing much about bikers I really wasn’t sure if this was realistic or not but Cherry found herself in a bit of a predicament running for her life and right into the arms of sexy Cooper. Should he help her?Let’s just say that the connection between these two is so HOT it makes it hard to decide what they should do…or what Cooper should do. Help Cherry or turn her in and live. Let’s just say that Ms. Severn wrote a story that shows that sometimes you just have to laugh at life when it has you on the ground as it is kicking your butt.Ms. Severn wrote an interesting story that kept me entertained even in such a short amount of time. Because the scenes flowed easily from one to the next the storyline kept moving along making it a fun read for a lunch break or that calgon moment and a glass of wine.
This novella is about a female biker who is in a biker gang. In the opening scene, she has just had a mind-blowing one-night-stand when she’s confronted by a crazy lady who punches her in the nose. (How could you not like that opening? Yeah, it pulled me in right away!)But apparently things went bad earlier, and she has to go on the run from her own gang members. Where does she run? To the one-night-stand guy ... who happens to also be involved in a biker gang (naturally).I liked this story right away. The fact I’m a female biker myself might have something to do with it! The heroine (Cherish, aka Cherry) was feisty, and the hero (Cooper) comes across as an interesting mix of standoffish but with a sense of humor. What we find out about him as the story progresses makes him even more interesting. Some of the events were a stretch, even for fiction (like, why would she return to her own apartment when that’s the first place her gang would be looking?). And the ex-military “bad guy” that shows up in the climax… he had a connection to Cooper, but apparently also to the gang and Cherry’s father. It wasn’t clear, which unfortunately made the climax less powerful than it could have been.I also didn’t understand some of the ending events (which I don't want to spoil by specifying). BUT, it was a happy ending and because the action was constant and there some surprising twists to the story, I still rate it a 4.
I definitely liked the way that Nichole wrote Cherry. She was funny, intelligent, sexy and could laugh at what life was handing her. Granted, most of the time it was inappropriate laughter, but laughter just the same. I like characters who can laugh at life when it's kicking them. And make no mistake, that's exactly what life was doing to Cherry. She also had an unexpected lifeline in Cooper. He's not supposed to be helping her, but he is. He's also the VP to another club, and 6'3" of hot, tattooed, muscle with a sexy laugh and a little bit of kink in his system. They work through things and each of them is in for a few surprises. Most are not good. But there are a few that are, and they're worth it. This was a good book. A few errors here and there, but still a good read. The writing is great, leading you from one scene to the next seamlessly. I loved the opening to the story, where Cherry is trying to figure out why she just got smacked in the face with a skate board and has a broken nose; awesome! The connection between Cherry and Cooper, definitely hot. I really liked that Nichole wrote about bikers. I've got a soft spot for them. I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
This one I forgot to review when I read it so all I can say is that I vaguely remember enjoying it... maybe. I will update this review if and when I re-read this book.
Average romance with a few plot holes.
