3 Days (Warning, contains mild spoilers) I bought this book because it's a genre I read and it was very affordable. I think it was only $5.39. I'll break it down with what I liked and what I didn't. LIKED1) Blaine. Of all the characters, even Kara, I could picture him the best and I think I even had a friend like this in high school, although we always did remain "just friends." I thought that theme was cute because she was pretty delusional and any reader would know they would never be just friends. 2) The Intruders. I was a little surprised by this and I think it definitely adds to the story. 3) I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure it was edited, which is something I appreciate. If it wasn't, the author did a good job catching most stuff. I did find a few things here and there, but for being self-published, it was pretty good. WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE1) The absolute immediacy and urgency to everything. I prefer things more subtle and it was a bit jarring when I read "immediately or instantly" so much. On the positive side, I realized that I may do this in my own writing, so for that, I have learned something. 2) The instalove when I wasn't really sure why they were in love after only kissing a couple of times. I mean, I know they were friends and that was probably a longstanding crush being acting on. But Kara was absolutely devastated when he didn't call when he said he would. I'm not a big fan of girls acting like this. 3) This is going to seem nit-picky, but I was kind of bugged that she was described with strawberry blonde hair and the girl on the cover clearly has very dark hair. Every time she came up in the scene (which is all the time since it is first person) I didn't know how to picture her and I would actually sit and think for a second about which one to choose. Blonde or brunette. Maybe I'm a sucker for covers. 4) Back to Blaine. He had some pretty big time info for Kara. Why only give her such a short notice. A couple of days to get ready might have been nice :) Overall, quick easy read.

Better than expected. A strong 3.5 star rating, almost a 4, so lets be generous and say 4.At first I wasn't too impressed. The characters didn't impress me much and the insta-pyschic understanding and the need to be touching annoyed me. But then things change and I get really drawn into the book. the idea of the title is just part of the story. The middle. There is a good build-up and much to come after. It reminds me of the 5th Wave in several ways. It does have some obvious errors that need editing but overall enjoyable. I will look into the next book of the series.

Really good, although I would have preferred no cliffhanger ending...I liked the characters, plot, and the story held my interest. All in all, way better than I thought.

So bad. So so badThis has to have been written by a child. It was so bad I read it aloud to my daughter and we rolled around laughing. Please, please get an editor or someone with some sense to read this and fix it.I can't even give a sense of the plot because it's just so awful. A solar flare shuts off power and some evil bat faced people appear. They can't go out in daylight or apparently touch automobiles or guns. Regular humans apparently instantly lose all sense of humanity except our three heroes and a crazy dentist who has lost his license but can still remove bullets and cure raging infections. Bumps on the head cause amnesia ONLY of plot points and a 15 year old kid sends the parents home when their daughter is so badly concussed she is unconscious for over 24 hours then drives her home even tho her parents are present and have just shown her more affection than the prior year. It's part one... I will not be reading part two!!

I'd like to thank to Krista Madden for gifting me this book in exchange for honest review. For more reviews visit Maria's BookshelfSynopsisKara Laquin wanted nothing more than to forget. Forget the past, live in the present, and ignore the future. When a massive solar flare destroys all electronics and throws the country into chaos, Kara is nearly a whole state away from her lost love, Blaine. He can wait only three days before moving on. With access to fuel limited, she must do anything necessary to get to him before he is forced to move on, but society is crumbling around her. Looters and murderers prowl the cities during the day, and something even worse roams at night. What I likedI wasn't exactly sure if I would like this book at the beginning but, oh my, this book turned out incredibly well. Once I dug into the story, I couldn't stop reading. I was captured by an insane amount of action, and unpredictable twists that just kept coming and coming. What made it even better were the characters. Kara Laquin is very easy to relate to. Her relationship with Blaine is friendly at first, but it was very easy to predict that things were going to change later on in the story. There were also other interesting characters like Blaine's best friend Jared. I felt like Jared would do anything for Blaine and Kara, which really showed how deep their friendship was.I really liked how this book was written, and the flow that it had. What I didn't likeI'm not a big fan of slow starts in books, but it didn't bother me as much in this one. Although, I really, really, really wished that this book was longer. I know that it's a novella, so it's not supposed to be 400 pages long, but come on, with a cliffhanger like this at the end? Really? So, now I'm lost. I need the sequel. Dear Krista Madden, if you don't release the second book quickly I will hack into your computer (well I'm lame with computers, so I'll most likely find someone to do it for me, haha) and read it. Overall Thought3 Days is a catching, breathtaking YA book. It's filled with fast-paced action and really creepy Intruders. There were moments when I felt goose bumps while reading this book. The descriptions were vivid and draw you right into the journey. It's very romantic, thrilling, and holds intense adventure that will leave you salivating for the next in the series.

I was instantly enthralled with this story. It isn't a type of book I usually read. In fact when it comes to paranormal or sci-fi reads, I think I am sort of put off. But 3 Days was not the case. Everything about this story screamed wonderful. The story line was in depth and the way the author tells the story is fantastic. The character development was spectacular, and the two main characters are very relatable. Kara and Blaine are something of a great duo. They have such a tight-knit friendship and bond, that you will instantly fall in love with them---like me. I felt like they could conquer anything together, along with their great friend Jared. These three are so endearing and have a great sense of humor. Until their world came to a crashing halt...... Now they must learn to survive after a solar flare hits. In fact, Kara must find her way back to Blaine and Jared, within three days. But, she has to be careful for the "Intruders." Over the course of the story we learn that these mysterious "Intruders," will do anything to get to humans and kill them. How are these three going to survive and will Kara make it to Blaine in time?Bravo to Author Krista Madden. This is her debut novel and it was a very enjoyable read. It is a quick and light. I was at about the 90% mark and didn't want it to end. In fact, I was completely blown away with the ending, it caught me off guard! 3 Days pulls at your heartstrings, while you're left wondering why everything is happening the way it is! I give this book 4 Stars!!

By Momma-Ellen on March 9, 2013 3 Days by, Krista Madden, Bethany Beard, Jeremy Beard, and Stellar Shots Kara Laquin is teenage girl, going to school, hanging out with friends, and doing all the other normal things girls her age do. She has a group of friends that she hangs out with, but her best friend is Blaine. They see each other everyday. She loves Blaine, but has never been able to tell him her true feelings. Her life takes a sad turn when her Father gets a new job, and they have to move across the state, away from Blaine and the life she loves. Disaster strikes the year after her move. A solar flare sends the country into chaos. A letter from Blaine explains that he can only wait 3 days for her to find him. He must move on after 3 days. She begins her journey across the state, hoping to get to him in time. When I started this book I thought I was reading a 2 cookie book. It was slow getting started, and I have a hard time sometimes with books about teens. My advice is to stick with the beginning while the authors lay the ground work. Once the solar flare occurs you will not be able to put the book down. I don’t know for sure if this book is the first in a series, but I sincerely hope so! It was fantastic! I loved it. I give it 4 cookies. Give it a chance. It is a great read at a good price. You won’t be disappointed. What Does Momma Ellen Think?I give it 4 cookies. Give it a chance. If you are looking for your next addiction, this is it! 3 Days was fun, easy to read and well crafted. The author wove a captivating dystopian tale that kept me turning the pages and the underlying sweet romance was perfect. What would you do if the power went out and life as you knew it came to a screeching halt? Would you be able to do whatever it took to survive? Could you defy the odds and learn to adapt or would you refuse to believe the new reality and fall victim to your circumstances? That's what the young adults in this story had to face.Kara's struggle to survive while attempting to locate her lost love was believable and it didn't take long before I was cheering her along. Blaine quickly became a guy that I wanted to know more about. I was pleased as his strength and compassion became evident and then I couldn't get enough of him. Jared was another one of my favorite characters and seemed like the type of guy you want to know and have on your side.I have added this book to my list of favorites and eagerly await book 2 in the series. Kudos Krista Madden! I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to teens and adults alike.

A wonderful paranormal / sci-fi story that tells how Kara and Blaine struggle to survive after a solar flare destroys all electronics and dark forces threaten life as they know it.What I liked about the book: I was drawn in immediately. The characters are so real, so believable you'll instantly fall for them. Blaine is very likable and I can't wait to read more of this adventure. Miss. Madden does a great job of describing characters and scenes I was enthralled instantly. There were times I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen. I couldn't put the book down. It was an easy read and flowed at a very nice pace. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a little romance with your end-of-days stories. What I didn't like about the book: That I have to wait to finish the tale... I can't wait to read more...

Let to believe that her true love no longer cared for her she spent the next year just ignoring everyone and everything. Becoming strong enough mentally and physically to take on challenges she herself would not believe. Needing to get to her love and to safety from things she does not understand. What has happened to cause the earth the stop everything and what is in the darkness that destroys everything in its path. The intruders are coming and coming fast what wil they do to survive? Part one of a series I truly like this read and plan to go through with the rest of the series. reccomended for anyone this read truly was worth it!
