Dwynvil's unique storytelling will captivate you by vivid imagery, narratives told from multiple points of view and explorations of the darker side of D/s theme where safe words aren't used.A victim to another man's cruelty, talented and beautiful theater actor Adhemar Lebeau learned not to trust and not to love anybody but himself. Falsely accused of his master's murder, he has to accept assistance of mysterious Count Sanyi Arany to later discover his savior is a vampire. Forced both by a fatal illness and aftershocks of torture experienced during his unjust imprisonment, Adhemar agrees to the only possible cure. Rebirth. Healed in body but not in mind, he guards his independence, free will and heart. He is not able to give love, only the fulfillment of lust. Yet, satiation of sensuous longing is not enough for his Sire and he knows it. When an eerie malady strikes and seems to deplete Sanyi's life energy for unknown reasons, Adhemar understands his fears and agrees to keep a street boy, Reyach, as a pet for both of them in hope it will soothe the unspoken worries. Out of necessity he finds himself in the role of the only hunter in their company, and out of attachment he accepts the responsibility readily. Indulgence in blood and carnal pleasures fill his nights and vampiric powers give him the feeling of safety. Until the evening when he carelessly falls prey to High Demon Belial's plays that quickly turn into more than either of them has bargained for.In spite of a hard start, Adhemar feels burning urge deep in his heart and no matter how much he denies it, the cause of the strange sensation is a budding seed of affection brought to life by the insufferable demon. But letting Adhemar learn to love somebody other than him is not what seemingly innocent Reyach plans....

The story starts with Adhemar, a beautiful actor, finding himself at a murder scene, which happens to be his bedroom. The man who is murdered his ex-Master who has tortured him for the past seven years. As a result, he knows he will become a prime murder suspect and makes clumsy efforts to hide the body, which only makes things worse for him. His savior comes in the form of a mysterious Count who happens to be his admirer. Even though Count Sanyi manages to rescue him from his imprisonment, Adhemar suffers from consumption, which slowly destroys his mortal body. In the end, he agrees to Rebirth, which will turn him into a vampire. There is a lot of inner struggles going on in this story, because Adhemar doesn’t want to give up his independence and yet is deeply indebted to Sanyi. Their physical attraction is mutual, but Sanyi wants more from Adhemar than Adhemar is willing to give. Sanyi has his own inner demons and Adhemar’s presence in his immortal life is both a blessing and curse to him. I found the writing style interesting and inviting overall. There are frequent uses of repeated words for emphasis, which I found slightly distracting. Some of the scenes seemed to drag a bit, but the author does a great job in exploring the characters’ fears, desires, anxiety, and hopes.I also loved the complexity of the characters as well as the somewhat unique plot. An angel who is practical, a demon who is sensual and alluring, and for me, it is always pleasure to see some unusual perspectives and characters who cannot be labeled as either black or white. It is the author’s ability to write complex characters that warmed me to Adhemar in the end, because I tend to grudge any sign of disloyalty in fictional characters and Adhemar, in the beginning of their relationship, comes across rather ungrateful to Sanyi, whom I liked instantly.I would have liked to see more of a D/s relationship developing between Adhemar and Sanyi and perhaps there will be more in the next book? I have very much enjoyed reading the story and certainly would love to read more about these guys. Provided by the Author through BDSM group TPE BAR Read2Review

When I decided to write a review for this book I thought I could go into detail about the great plot, wonderful characters and fantastic writing or I could get down to the nitty–gritty of what this story does to you. I decided to go with the latter. After reading this book I have come to the realization that the author is even more wicked than the characters he writes about, forever tantalizing us with these wonderful tales all the while leaving us yearning (and desperate) for more. As I read through “In Blue Poppy Fields” I connected in such depth with the characters that I found myself unable to pull away from the story until the book had finished. The writing truly draws you into this exotic world; allowing you to experience everything with such emotion that you feel deprived when it comes time to leave. As the story went on it brought me pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow, teasing all of my sense to such heights that in the end I was left famished for more. And even when the book was done it was as if a part of me was still bound to it; a piece of my soul unwilling to break free, choosing to linger just a while longer in the blissful punishment that makes up this world so craftily woven into a tale. I can only hope the next book is released very soon; for I am ready to throw myself at the feet of this author and beg for more of this delicious treat he has allowed me to taste.

This book should have been fine as a standalone, I'm not sure. I'm leaving this unrated and just going with a review. This book did nothing for me. I was looking for more BDSM with some hawt D/s. This didn't happen. This book spent a very long time describing details I could care less about. The style is very flowery. While I enjoy fantasy books, this one is not one that suits my tastes. The characters were rather bland for me. I didn't connect with any of them. Sanyi came across like a pussy. Adhemar has a chip on his shoulder. Other than taking "the boy" and preparing him with enemas and fitting him with a sound, the sex in this book is non-existent. The story does set it up for the next book. I'm not intrigued enough to continue on.*I received this book as a review copy from the BDSM Group's R2R in return for an honest review

Jacinto Telmo has passed away and Adhemar Lebeau doesn't know what to do. Adhemar is a performer and this is not his expertise. We can all understand his pain.Sanyi Arany is a fan of Adhemar's. The authorities come pay a visit to Adhemar. They have interesting ways to make people talk. It reminds me of some of the old movies I used to watch. It also reminds me of some of the bad things that happened in history. This is part of what we learn about Adhemar. Society can be cruel but then you will see that things get better. The reader is given a first hand account of what a strong-willed person sometimes has to endure to survive. You'll also see what others will do in order to help. It's also a journey of someone who is changing who he is.I have to say that one of my favorite characters was Vincent. He's a caring, compassionate man who also has a lot of patience. You'll see that he cares a lot about both Sanyi and Adhemar. He is one that I hope to see again. I was left wanting to know what becomes of him. This story does have love between two men but the way that Ciaran created his characters they could be anyone. Love comes in all different forms and it's also about bringing pleasure to your partner. Enemas can also be used for a partner's enjoyment. As a reader, open your mind to the different forms of sex that Ciaran writes about. It is part of who his characters are. We should always expand our horizons and one way to do that is through the books we read. You also tend to forget that the story is paranormal. The ending surprised me - not telling, you'll have to experience that for yourself. I was left with my mouth open and wanting to know what happens next. But then I find out that there's a part two. If you go to, you can see what books he has written and to keep an eye out for what he has in store for his readers next.I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Book provided by the author.4.5 starsAnother really imaginative and brilliantly written book. The thought that goes into his stories is brilliant. Again we meet some amazingly complex characters and their struggles through a sometimes hard and confusing life. I'm glad we got to hear more of Belial in this installment, he's my favourite character from the series so far and I can't wait to read more and see where Ciaran takes us next. Really looking forward to the next one

3.5Beginning: 4Main part: 2End: 5I read it because I wanted Belial and Adhemar - Belial first appears on page 273 out of 300 ... (the 27 pages were worth it...) but at least the second part starts only 10 days later so I consider it as two parts of a whole book ... it is from what I understood ^^
