Rock Your World with the Divine Mother: Bringing the Sacred Power of the Divine Mother into Our Lives Reviews
Having spent the last three decades learning from the masters of India, Sondra Ray is a well-respected teacher of the femininity of divinity. Being her eighteenth book, Rock Your World with the Divine Mother is not a how-to manual, but rather the author shows us how to open up to the Divine Mother through her re-telling of various pilgrimages to Peru, Yugoslavia, India and more in her personal search of the Divine Mother. Sondra shows that no matter the religion or race, the Holy Mother’s presence is alive and living within us all and can be found in Quan Yin, Kali-Ma, Amma (the Hugging Saint), Pele, the Virgin Mary, even in Babaji and in nearly every positive, living spiritual path. The chapter (1, Creating Miracles) featuring her empowering and humbling story of her visit to the Virgin at Medjugorie, Yugoslavia was exceptionally moving to myself. I could literally feel the spirit of the Divine Mother leaking off the pages and filling the room with its ambiance, and I was brought to tears.Rock Your World with the Divine Mother is broken in three parts; the first focusing on Sondra’s journeys and experiences, the second speaks of the ceremonies and festivals (mainly in India) that celebrate the Divine Feminine, and the final part shows us how we can serve the Divine Mother through our work in serving humanity and through meditation and prayer. The intuitive appendices discuss the relation between our surrendering and womanly “afflictions” like breast cancer and menopause that haunt so many of today‘s women. Through them, the author shows how to reclaim your power. The final chapter is Sondra’s very own personal prayer that she invites the reader to pray along with her. A moving finale to a fantastic tome.I read this book in one sitting, something I rarely ever do. This insightful manuscript will make anyone, man or woman, want to surrender to the loving energy of the Divine Feminine. Highly recommended!
This is a book appropriate to my moment.... overcoming a long Noche Obscura with the Divine Mother in my own life, it is at once personally calming AND invigorating.... this book is helping me renew myself as a woman of the divine mother (long line of women of the "old ways," you know, which are also the "new ways.") It's also interesting to me that I am reading it at the anniversary of the death of Princess Diana and just as the world is publishing a long series of Mother Teresa's letters exposing that she did not feel god's presence the last fifty years of her life (except for a six week period.)I hate rating systems. But I'll explain. For me, this book is giving me new information and reminder jogs. But it's a lot of, "this is an amazing healer. And this is an amazing place. Go there." Without a lot of ontological feed or poetry, which is what I personally look for in a spiritual book/ workbook. Nothing so far (halfway through) is shocking my system so much that I'm like, oh my god, this book is changing my life. On the other hand, it's more like a tide slowly carrying bits of sand back out into the sea for a deeper deposit and a moon cycle of regrowth. From my granola beginnings.... to my vineyard owning future. The once and future queen seems more appropriate to this book at this moment in time.
Rock Your World with the Divine Mother is yet another amazing book by Sondra Ray. Indeed, this woman has a gift. It seems that I receive her books, exactly when I need them most. Every single time I pick up one of her books, I find myself being triggered. Still, something presses me to continue, to be courageous, and to look deep within. In the process, I always gain something very significant. The general theme of Rock Your World with the Divine Mother is an urging to bring the Divine Mother into our lives. Perhaps this requires some explanation. The Divine Mother is not necessarily a Female Creator, a specific Goddess, or even the Virgin Mary. It is the appreciation and balancing of the feminine and masculine aspects of ones' life. Often in our modern world, we fixate our value on masculine undertakings without seeing the beauty in our own femininity. Explaining this concept and making it resonate with all Sondra Ray details her pilgrimages to various holy places. Often she is an outsider on these explorations but is willing to listen, take in the wisdom, and fully experience the moment. The results are truly breathtaking.
After meeting Sondra and her husband, Mark Sullivan, in person and having a rebirthing session with them, I knew I wanted to read all of Sondra's books. During the rebirthing, Sondra and Mark chanted the 108 names of the Divine Mother.I had heard of Goddess worship in earth-based religions, but this book is about how Sondra has personally experienced the Divine Mother in her spiritual service to others. I learned in this book that the collective Divine Mother presides over every one of us and She transcends and is even greater than the mythological diva or meaning assigned to her by a culture or religion. This is the sacred divine feminine aspect of God and I fell in love with the Divine Mother while reading Sondra's book. I actually felt Her loving presence. What a peaceful, blissful experience. Now, I'm ordering another book by Sondra!
This book truly opens you to the awareness of the Divine Mother. Sondra recounts her spiritual journey and the miracles she experienced by inviting and honoring the Divine Mother. I love this book because it explains quite easily who the Divine Mother is and how SHE is worshipped around the world. The book ends with a guide for creating a ritual for the Divine Mother invoking all her 108 names.
I adore this book. Its an eye opener
I'll have to try this one out.
I read this mainly because there was one chapter on Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. Jai Ma!
