Blood in the Moon (Book 1, Awakenings) Reviews
If you like werewolves, femdom and extreme bondage, Blood in the Moon is the book for you. But, if you like a good detective/crime action adventure story, Blood in the Moon is probably a good bet, as well.I have to say, the crime aspect to the book really kept me going. In fact, the last quarter of the book is non-stop action and I was on the edge of my seat.Dillon is a NYC police detective. He and his partner, Cody, are tasked with protecting a witness who will be instrumental in putting away an organized crime boss’s son. Rosallano, the crime boss, is pretty scary and gets scarier as the book progresses.Dillon and Cody notice a gorgeous blonde woman in the street outside the precinct and Dillon is completely smitten. They get the chance to meet again when it turns out that she’s working for Rosallano… But don’t get upset, there are extenuating circumstances.I’m not going to tell you any more about the plot because I wouldn’t want to spoil it for you. But what about the femdom and werewolves, you ask. OK, here’s the thing: I’m always looking for good femdom to read and I’ve enjoyed Lady Blade’s books in the past so I was excited about reading this one. If you are into extreme bondage (and I do mean extreme bondage) this is the book for you. There’s definitely chemistry between the main characters but I’m more a fan of consensual slavery, rather than nonconsensual, even when it turns out the victim is really into it, but you get caught up in the plot and the action. There are two downsides to the book: First, and this is a big one for me, it ends in an extreme cliffhanger. I know this is getting more and more popular but I really don’t like it. I like a book to wrap up. If I like the characters and the story line, I’ll buy the next book. I don’t need a cliffhanger to force me and, in fact, it tends to make me angry, which isn’t a good thing to do. Second, and maybe it’s my editor hat, but I noticed a number of grammatical and typographical errors. Lady Blade is a good writer and I know these are just errors, but the book could have used a good copy editor. All in all, I’d recommend the book if you’re into femdom and crime. Oh, and werewolves, of course!
