*spoiler free review*After eleven great books, finally we get his story...And the author did it justice! I loved every single sentence here, it was just perfect!!!So, Nalini Singh...You are the bestest ever!!!!!!!!!!!!The romance here was amazing, and those two are meant to be together, their past made me cry :((The ending was amazing, although I am now VERY excited for the next books, I wonder how it's all going to be in the Psy/Changeling universe :))))Just one message to the author, although I know it probably won't be that way, but please...I want Aden and Vasic together!!

5 stars read for meWhat would you do if you were loved by most dangerous man in existence....?I'll be honest with you- although, romance in all previous books in series was lovely, I was driven by story in the background. Story about Silence, rebellion, upcoming civil war. If you are like me, let me tell you upfront, Heart of Obsidian is that book; it's the book where all the questions are answered. Isn't it ironic that at the same time I find this novel to be the most romantic in series...?In its core, Heart of Obsidian is a simple love story between two people who are anything but simple. When I finally found out who the hero is I was beyond happy. Kaleb is one character who intrigued me since we first met him in Visions of Heat and I don't know if I ever read about character that is so ambiguous and captivating at the same time (maybe Barrons.) We were hinted in previous installments that Kaleb is beautiful and that he has immense power, but true force of both those statements we come to see in HoO. I finished this book completely in love with Kaleb and I can say he is by far my favorite character (sorry Judd, I loved you for a very long time). Kaleb is so beautiful and perfect in his Silence, and yet inside he is a man so damaged, complex and troubled. What Kaleb had to survive and what it did to him made me want to scream and hug him (like he would let that ;)) and never let go. Oh, how wrong were Psy for initiating Silence Protocol! Kaleb, the most perfect of them all is at the same time clear evidence of "wrongness" that Silence is.This is perfect place to make connection with other big secret of this series and I won't spoiled it if you don't want to know. (view spoiler)[As soon as I was in Kaleb's head and learned more about the way he thinks, I don't know how could I ever think that Ghost can be anyone else but him. It seemed so logic and understandable and I must hand it to Nalini- She worked us masterly.(hide spoiler)]As for heroine- Sahara was everything you expect a right woman for Kaleb to be. She is brave, strong, emphatic, sensible and she is fierce! She deserved such devotion and loyalty from Kaleb imo. No TSTL moments for Sahara... I really liked her big time. I'm hoping we get to see her more using her ability in next books, it was very interesting. Sex scenes- Oh. My. God. I want a Tk-Psy for me. That is all. Whenever there is a discussion about hottest sex scenes we ever read, I always mentioned Judd scene in CbI... but Kaleb? Off the chart hot.I know different reviewers mentioned different books in series, so I'll say that HoO reminds me one part of Blaze of Memory, one part of Caressed By Ice and one part of Mine to Possess. The story ends at very unusual place: at the Beginning. At the beginning of new time for world Nalini Singh created and I can say it's fitting place to finish Kaleb' and Sahara's story. I can honestly say that I closed this book as a very satisfied reader. Also, having my answers on questions that tormented me for years, my interest in this series didn't flail. I want to read about aftermath of events in HoO and how it affected all three races. I trust Nalini enough to know she's going to deliver great story. I recommend entire series wholeheartedly. The 12th novel in Nalini Singh’s brilliant Psy/Changeling Series, set in the complex, dark and fantastic world that she has created. And the first book that features two Psy characters as a couple. Darkness & Light..A beautiful, intense, dark and emotionally filled love story, of two broken people meant to be together since they first met as children. Of how powerful love can be between two souls, despite the pain, the cruelty, the torture both endured nothing will keep them apart.First introduced in Visions of Heat, Psy Councilor Kaleb Krychek is one of the most powerful, cold, dangerous, emotionless and ruthless members in the Psy Council who had been under the guidance of the evil, now dead, Psy Cardinal, Enrique Santano. Since a child, had been exposed to the most horrific world, that made him become the person he is today….icy and dark hearted… – he has no problem with killing his enemies and anyone who stands in his way in reaching his goals, one of those being in finding someone that disappeared from his life seven years ago, whose identify we learn at the end in Tangle of Need.Kaleb Krychek, cardinal telekinetic and a man no one wanted to meet alone on a dark night, had been searching for his quarry for seven years, three weeks, and two days. Even while he slept, his mind had continued to hunt through the sprawling psychic network that was the heartbeat and the cage of the Psy race. Not for a day, not for a second, had he forgotten his search, forgotten what they'd taken from him.Everyone involved would pay. He'd make certain of it.Sahara Nightstar, Faith Nightstar’s cousin who had disappeared seven years ago and had been held captive and tortured by one of the Council Members. The pain she endured and her mind almost erased was beyond belief.A lot happens in this book. The world is a dangerous place for everyone – the struggle between the human race, Psy and Changeling world is about to implode. Things unravel at a breathtaking and neck-breaking pace, where secrets are revealed and lots of questions answered…one being the Ghost’s identity is….did we ever guess it?????.....well, it’s no biggie that it’s Kaleb K….I felt all along that there was a good side to him…he had a heart, he had a goodness that he had kept locked away all those years. We begin to see this as Sahara slowly shows him the light he has inside What made this story so special for me:Although the plot delves into the politics of the Psy/Changeling world, it does not detract from the love story of Kaleb & Sahara. They are the main characters and feature in almost every chapter, giving you an insight into the healing and love of each other. How love changed them both….Sahara’s love making Kaleb see the light inside of him….that he was not only darknessThat despite the pain and torture they had both endured, they complemented each other perfectly.Absolutely brilliant how the author managed to make Kaleb into a likable character at the end, without making him into a “wimp”….he’s still dangerous, still loyal, still focused and still true to his goal in making the Psy world a better place for everyone. Hell, he will go to any ends to make Sahara happy, to care for her …I loved meeting up with characters from the previous books………Faith Nightstar, Mercy, Judd and so many others…and the time Sahara spent in the Changeling world….Beautifully written, words that flow with such vividness that takes you into this incredible and imaginative world, draws you in to the lives of endearing, lovable and unforgettable characters. An absolute joy it was reading Kaleb and Sahara’s story..

I loved Heart of obsidian. My God but I loved Kaleb and Sahara. As individuals and as a couple they were just freakin awesome. Their love was beautiful and touching. And can I just say I wish Nalini Singh would have had Enrique Santano die a worst death then what he got. He needed to suffer more lots more!! Not only did Kaleb and Sahara's love get me in the feels but the plot was kicking ass too. I got my answer about the Ghost.... I was so right that is all I'm gonna say so there is no spoilers lol. And the ending omg the ending. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Full review posted 10/17/135 ✚ ✚ ✚ EPIC STARS‼ THIS BOOK IS OUTSTANDING! THE BEST IN THE SERIES THUS FAR!WOW! I'm in a state of nirvana after finishing this story! It was exceptional! *CRIES* I'm now all caught up and have to wait almost a year for the next book in this series to be released. I will keep this review short and to the point, as I'm worried that something I say could inadvertently give away a spoiler to potential readers that could ruin the reading experience for them. (That happened to me! Grrrr). I LOVED everything about this story. Everything. I loved the plot, the characters, the relationships, the romance, the steam, and the dialogue. This book is pure GOLD, and, for me, the best of the series. In fact, I have already read it three time. Yep! That pretty much says it all. I have never read a series that has SO captured my time, attention, imagination, and emotions like the Psy-Changeling series has. I love these books with all my heart. I will treasure the month I spent reading them.

It had been over 365 days since I read a new full-length Psy-Changeling novel and I did my best to refrain from impatient whining. As a reward for my uncharacteristic, albeit reluctant, acceptance of delayed gratification, the Book Gods saw fit to grant me a boon. Enough about me, though, as I know you want to know about the book, so let's move on to the pretty-much-spoiler-free-because-it's-all-my-reactions review. Heart of Obsidian reminds me of those long, quiet, hours that mark off time before night slips into the dawn. Change is happening, anything is possible, and a new day is breaking. Still, this is not an easy book. As much as one could claim the main theme is rebirth, there's no denying the traumas that perpetually ripple throughout the book. It will be a trigger for some, especially given recent events, and, by the end, parents may reconsider the wisdom of letting their teenagers fly too far from the nest. Despite the heaviness, this is one of Nalini's simplest books. It could almost be a stand-alone, if the reader was familiar with the sociological and political framework of the Psy/Changeling world, as it focuses very tightly on the hero and heroine. The SnowDancers don't appear at all and only two of the previous heroines make cameos. However, just like I said in my Tangle of Need review, starting with Heart of Obsidian will do you a disservice. Nalini has brought together disparate threads to reveal a stunning tapestry that finally shows what she has been working towards during the past eleven books. There are clues as far back as Slave to Sensation and jumping to the end will rob you of the grand reveals. With Tangle of Need, I was willing to cryptically answer questions, but I'm not going to do that with Heart of Obsidian. As I said previously, the book is so tightly focused, a hint about one thing could also apply to everything. so feel free to speculate in the comments, but I will not confirm or deny anything. However, I will tell you that my personal theory about the Ghost was very wrong. Oh, and the hero. I'll tell you the hero. Don't click if you don't want to know. Seriously. Last chance to back away. Here it comes. Edited to Add: Nalini has posted the first two chapters of Heart of Obsidian at her blog!.I give you the first sentence of Heart of Obsidian: (view spoiler)["Kaleb Krychek, Cardinal telekinetic and a man no one wanted to meet alone on a dark night, had been searching for his quarry for seven years, three weeks, and two days."I know there are some die-hard Kaleb fangirls out there and you are going to be very happy. Nalini took a cryptic blank-slate-could-go-either-way character and turned him into a fascinatingly complex man. And, dayum, he's also scorchingly hot. There was one bit on page 131 that had me cranking up the AC.(hide spoiler)]Heart of Obsidian releases on June 4th. If you buy the e-book from Barnes and Noble, steeling yourself against Penguin's WTF ebook pricing, you should be able to download it around 1am on the 4th.

Dear Nalini,As you know I’m one of your biggest fans. I’ve read your Psy-Changeling series since the beginning, starting with Slave to Sensation, which is my all time favorite book in this series, although now Heart of Obsidian may tie for that spot. Sascha and Lucas will always hold a special place in my heart. You also know I'm a big fan girl (if not the biggest) for a specific character introduced in Visions of Heat, the second book. This is Kaleb Krychek, a deadly cardinal Tk and one of the heads of the Psy Council who with a blink of an eye can kill a person where they stand. It wasn’t until Mine to Possess, book 4, where I started keeping a very close watch on Kaleb. I knew the moment he started sweating on a balcony in that book after an intense workout, I guess you should say my spidey senses tingled. I knew at one point Kaleb would be “reformed” and become one of your heroes at one point, although the consensus of your readers thought otherwise. I’ve waited 5 years for Kaleb to be in the spotlight. Finally his time has come in Heart of Obsidian. The main couple of Heart of Obsidian was kept under lock and key, which now I understand why. Revealing the main couple of this book would have many of your readers, including myself, throwing around speculations, specifically regarding the identity of the Ghost. For me, I was more concerned with how Kaleb would be portrayed than the Ghost (which is revealed in a very satisfactory way and had me guessing right up until the very last moment), and if you could give him and his heroine a worthy HEA like you’ve given all your prior couples. I’m pleased to say that Heart of Obsidian stopped my heart. You continue to get better with every single book you write. I would say Heart of Obsidian is your masterpiece of this series and quite possibly the best book of your career. My crush on Kaleb has changed into full blown awe and love for this man who has defied everything he is and all he has been taught all because of love. Kaleb’s goal and true meaning in life isn’t to destroy and kill because he was taught by a true sociopath whose goal was to make Kaleb into a cold blooded, heartless killer that even the Psy community would run away in fear of. Kaleb has spent the majority of his life in his own personal hell, which was shown at a very early age through flashbacks here. At the age of twelve he was learning to become ruthless and psychotic, but was able to remain human and keep those morals and feelings that go against his culture, all because of one little girl at the age of five who he meets and becomes friend with. She is Sahara NightStar, the Psy cousin to Faith (the heroine in Vision of Heat) who disappeared at the age of sixteen and is thought to be dead. The way you begin Heart of Obsidian is very crafty. We don’t know the name of the woman Kaleb has taken until around page fifty. All we know is that Kaleb has been searching for her for 7 years. She’s been abused, tortured and is near catatonic. Kaleb needs her to heal because he has specific plans for her. As what these plans are, all be revealed with a master stroke of writing. The way Kaleb treats this poor woman, who we come to know as Sahara, is incredibly tender. Kaleb’s one purpose in life is to keep Sahara away from all harm. He feels Sahara is his and no one ever again is going to take her from him. He lives and breathes revenge against those who have hurt his Sahara and he will make them pay.Eventually Sahara does heal because of Kaleb’s care and as she rebuilds her mind that she purposely shut down and becomes strong again. She has major memory loss and has no idea what Kaleb is to her. What she does know is that Kaleb is her protector and she isn’t afraid of him. Kaleb is concerned that when Sahara remembers her past and his part in her pain and suffering, she’ll reject him. If she does, he can’t go on living, and because of that he may destroy the Net that keeps his people-the Psy alive. Sahara holds the key to his salvation and his plans to create a harmonious future not just for his people, but for Sahara and himself.Nalini, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you have a way with words and these characters of yours. Heart of Obsidian hit me deep in the gut and swept through my heart like a steam engine. I soaked up every word, every piece of dialogue. I can’t stop thinking about Kaleb’s and Sahara’s interactions. These two are pretty much the anti-Psy because of how strong they feel for one another. I was worried that a romance with two Psy wouldn’t work. We’ve seen one Psy find happiness with a changeling woman in Judd, but Kaleb here puts Judd to shame in the romance department, I’m afraid to say. The way Kaleb feels for Sahara, his hunger for her, is unlike any of your past heroes. Kaleb’s feelings for Sahara are so tangible I could taste it. I choked on it. I wanted to choke on it even more.Sahara might just be your strongest heroine of any you have created. She reminds me somewhat of Sasha in how she recovers from her trauma and wants to live and embrace all that life has to offer. She needs her freedom like the air she breathes and I love how Kaleb gave that to her without any question. I loved how she opened her mind, heart, body and soul to Kaleb because she just knew he was her safety net. Kaleb thinks he isn’t worthy of Sahara because of what he had to do to succeed and how he was forced to kill and hurt innocent people because of one sadistic individual, his deceased serial killer caretaker.Love indeed heals all wounds and Heart of Obsidian is an example of this. It's an epic romance. Kaleb and Sahara’s love is poetic and breathtaking, including steamy and sexy. The love scenes crackle, and how Kaleb literately made the earth move for Sahara when they were intimate was a nice payoff.I would say Heart of Obsidian completes the main story arc you set for this series. It’s very well played, and yet I want more. Kaleb and Sahara’s HEA is pure gold. This is one book that I will hold close to my chest and bow down to its creator because it’s that good and embodies what a true romance should be. Take a bow, you deserve it.

First time read: March 28th 2015Second re-read: December 25th 2016_____________________________________This book is one of my all time favourites!!! I love Kaleb, I love Sahara and I freaking love everything about their story!!! It's such an amazing journey these two go through. Not all is pretty but therefore so much worth it at the end. I really like the plot, it's not like the previous books. We basically get the story of just Sahara and Kaleb, without the unnecessary side stories of other characters. That's probably a huge reason why I love the story so much. Also, it's a shorter book than the rest of them, thankfully. I felt like the previous books had so much other stuff going on that I couldn't really enjoy the main story of these two characters. But in this book the plot is awesome and we truly get to see basically just their story. Also, we finally get some huge answers answered, yes! I think this could've been easily the last book in this series because it's perfect! We met Kaleb in previous books and he always came across as this cold, unapproachable psy with unlimited power. He seemed to have the perfect Silence. But in this story, we get to see his other side that he only shows to Sahara and it's sooooo beautiful how much he cares for her and how he's with her. He waited a long time for them to be together in a room again. I'm so happy for him. As for Sahara's character, she a very smart and strong woman but also super loyal. I loved how she was with Kaleb, they really deserved each other. Such a strong and amazing couple!I'm not giving anything away plot wise but all I can say is is that it's awesome! You won't regret reading this story!

There are so many wonderful reviews for this book already. I don't have anything more to add except this: Nalini Singh not only provided readers with a rich and fascinating world of Psy-Changeling, she also gave readers a solid romantic pair to root for with Kaleb and Sahara. Fave quotes:"I will fight for you, today, tomorrow, and all the tomorrows to come.""Then, as stars glittered overhead and the world spun another hour closer to what might be a catastrophic global war, Sahara kissed her lover.""I'd line the streets with bodies before I'd ever hurt you."

*** 4.25 ***A buddy read with my girls @ BB&B!!!He is the Superman of the Psy and she is the strong but broken girl who has loved him for a very long time.... He is the most powerful weapon in the Net, she is the only one who could rain him in. He had been looking for her for a long time, ever since she had been stolen from him and hidden from the Net and society. Now he has her back and nothing and no one will ever take her away from him again... Or the world would be in trouble!Book 12 in the Psy-Changeling Universe and Nalini Singh is still going strong! The main character in this story is one of the most interesting and intense Pay we have met yet and his book was almost destined to be wonderful, just based on the way we have been learning about him since the beginning of the series. And boy did it deliver!!! We are not left disappointed .I don't really want to say anything about the plot, since finding everything out as you read is part of the fun. If you are a fan of Paranormal Romance, this series is something you have to check out. If you are a fan of the Psy-Changeling Universe, this book is a must read!!! I enjoyed it and am looking forward to continuing with the series - I need to know what happens with Silence!!!I wish you all Happy Reading and many more good books for your future!!!

*WARNING: HERO's NAME AHEAD*5 The Price Of Silence Stars"We stand at a crossroads. The decisions we make will either save us, or end us."The time has come for the Psy to make a stand. The Silence that they inflicted upon themselves, to leash their minds has crippled them. They will have to break these restraints, face the vastness of their powers and abilities and step into a world that will keep moving without them.Silence though, is double edged sword and while muting their souls it is also the only answer, the only barrier between them and the darkness they are capable of. The last wall between them and insanity; their only chance at ruling the world. And the Pure Psy, a rogue radical fraction of fanatics, are determined to do so, even if it means murdering anyone that stands in their way.Silence and darkness, hand in hand; They will either save or doom the world. There are degrees in silence and light within the stars, in night's darkest hour.♪♫Hello darkness, my old friendI've come to talk with you againBecause a vision softly creepingLeft its seeds while I was sleepingAnd the vision that was planted in my brainStill remainsWithin the sound of silence♪♫In these times of turmoil and upheaval there is a man, that his actions will decide the fate of the world and his decisions will turn the tide. He will either rise as a tyrant or a leader of hope, but all these, depend on an abused woman and his heart that she holds in her small hands. If she demanded vengeance, he’d turn the world bloodred.Kaleb Krychek is a man that can make the Earth tremble and people bow to his will. A madman's protege, the youngest Councilor, a dual Cardinal, a nightmare. He has finally retrieved what he was looking for the last 7 years. He took back what was stolen from him. And this vulnerable woman who they tried to break and bend to their twisted will, a strong soul with a will of obsidian and a heart bigger than the sky, will have to guide him not to the light exactly, but to redemption and be his conscience. He isn't the monster that they all afraid, but sometimes to fight the darkness you have to turn into a shadow yourself.I don't want to go into much detail about the plot, twists and the sheer brilliance that is Nalini Singh's mind and writing style. The climax of the story and the build up from the first book until this one, speaks in itself of consistency and amazingness.Weaving so many threads and emotions in this complex worldbuilding that she has achieved, without losing focus of the main couple and their heartbreaking story, so unique and beautiful. And always reminding us, that the most cold people are hiding a thunderstorm of feelings underneath.A sensual story about two people that should have been broken, but they were meant for greatness and allowed love to show them the way. Every touch, every breath brings them closer but it may tear them apart and make the world crumble under their power.Exciting, riveting, emotional, almost lyrical, suspenseful and everything we had ever hoped of this book, Mrs. Singh's teaches how a series should be treated with. Not for one moment, does she let the pace down; she delivers plot twist upon plot twist and this why I will keep reading about Psy, Changelings, the Forgotten and the Arrows for another 12 books!Bravo!"We are Psy and we are capable of greatness. It is time to step out of the dark."

WOW.That's all that could come to mind as I read this. I have read every book in this series and have appreciated some more than others - the "others" I didn't love as much being those that didn't focus on a changeling as at least one of the main two characters. I'm not sure why, but I always found the chapters that focused on the Psy Council and related issues to be somewhat boring in comparison to the excitement and earthiness of the changeling world and characters? I'm not sure. Needless to say, when I read the blurb about this book - as secretive and mysterious as it was - I had a feeling it would be all Psy--and it was. This made me nervous that I would not be into this one; however, I absolutely LOVED this book. I found it a little slow at the start, but once it got going, it was awesome. Nalini Singh can truly weave a story. Her Psy-Changeling world is such a magnificent construct and it all culminates in this installment. I don't want to reveal any spoilers, so I'll keep it short, but if you love this series you will love this book, the two main characters, and their journey. I am wondering if she will do anything more with it. She left potential for more...

I don't want to give any spoilers but I loved this! Nalini Singh hit this one out of the park, it was amazing! The hero in this book was portrayed so well, we find out his motivations and backstory. I loved his connection to the heroine and how wonderfully they treated each other. I also loved how he was willing to go to any lengths to protect her and make her happy. So many exciting things happen in this book that will completely change the future world in this series, I can't wait to see what happens next. So my end thoughts - amazing story that blew away my expectations! I love this series so much!

WOW 5 mind BLOWING stars! No name spoilers here...in case anyone is still waiting to read this book :)This left me thinking, how much better can this series get after this? What story can truly top this off? I really didn't expect what I read, it surprised me at how something that was impossible could still be possible. Had me thinking no matter how broken, lost or unrecoverable a person can be, they should never give up in the face of love. His own hand was big, warm against her cheek as he cupped her jaw. "Don't be afraid of me." Bending his head, he spoke with his lips against hers, the contact igniting a thousand tiny lightning strikes in her blood. "I'd line the streets with bodies before I'd ever hurt you.""You are here," he said in a tone that made her heart thump wildly against her ribs, "because you belong to me."The love story shared in this book, was truly beautiful to read about. It was highly emotional and heartwarming to be apart of their journey at finding their lost love. Its so heartbreaking to have to go through such torture and sacrifices, just to be with the one you love, the one you only exist for, the one that holds you back from truly losing your humanity. To feel so much love for someone that you'd destroy everything, even yourself, for just the thought of losing them. All she wanted to do was strip herself to the skin and wrap herself around him so close that nothing could ever separate them again. Feeling their loses and gains as if they were my own, had me rooting for their well deserved HEA. The chemistry and connection shared between them was simply *sigh* AMAZING!You're mine," Simple quiet words that were a punch to the chest. "I will fight for you, today, tomorrow, and all the tomorrows to come.""It will break my heart if you were hurt." He felt something inside him that was so gentle it was painful."Why aren't you afraid of me if you remember? Why are you still here?" "Because you're mine.""I want us to fly together." The story line was highly intriguing and had me hooked and wondering what will happen next all the way. I HIGHLY recommend this book and series to all PNR fans. YOU HAVE TO READ IT! It feel like this series, at book 12, has just begun. It is time to step out of the dark.

5 EPIC stars <3"He was the monster that stalked nightmare, and they both knew that."Ruthless killer. Cold-blooded. Without mercy .. Without conscience. He was a monster. Damaged. Powerful. Fearful. He had no empathy. His only weakness was HER. Sahara Kyriakus"An unsheathed blade." What he had become the day she vanished."For the last seven years, Kaleb was looking for the girl who meant everything to him. All his life, he has loved only one person and that's Sahara. Their bond was so strong. So powerful. He could never let her go. He would do anything and everything to bring her back to him, and on his wake, he has left destruction and death for the ones who dared to take her away from him. "Sahara! I'll come for you! Survive! Survive for me!"Councilor Kaleb Krychek is unfeeling, doesn't care or touch anyone, and won't let himself feel emotions. The only exception was Sahara. But she was gone. All he wanted was vengeance. He wanted the world to pay. And he had the power to erase the whole human race in the blink of an eye."Because I can."For the past seven years, Sahara was in captivity. While her captors wanted to use her powers for their favor, Sahara found a way to escape. She was able to get lost in the deepest corners of her mind, where no one could harm her. Where she couldn't feel. Where no one could discover the nature of her true powers. During that time, she was tortured, her mind was violated, her memories faded, and all that remained was the shell of the sixteen girl she used to be. At the beginning, when he only brought her to his house, she didn't know who he was. she didn't remember him. For her, he was her capture. she was suspicious, afraid, entrusting and wary. But Kaleb didn't allow that. He wanted her. He wanted her to SEE HIM."Don't be afraid of me, Sahara." Bending his head, he spoke with his lips against hers, the contact igniting a thousand tiny lightning strikes in her blood. "I'd line the streets with bodies before I'd ever hurt you."Slowly, she realized, this dark man, this cold-blooded killer means her no harm. Not only that, he CARES about her in ways she couldn't grasp."Am I so important to you?""Yes," he said. "You're everything." The entire reason for his existence.""You matter to me."So simple. So honest. So powerful. When she start to fall for this enigma, it was so freaking EPIC! I felt every emotion. Every caress. Every stroke. Every stare. Every touch. "Gripping the back of her neck, he tasted her so deep, she'd never forget the taste of him. Mine, he thought, you are mine."Finally, she saw him. She cared for him. She loved him."Serial killer, mass murderer, there's not a name for the evil that lives inside me."Jaw set and eyes fierce, she'd shaken her head. "I won't let the darkness have you."Both together were EXPLOSIVE, and i mean it literately. "So we literally made the earth move? A slight pause, before Kaleb said, I suggest we don’t engage in sex in populated areas."The story progressed slowly, like a pot cooking on a low flame until it reaches his boiling point. Their history was told in flashbacks all throughout the story. We got snips from a past, so dark, that it broke mt freaking hear. And there was a certain memory, buried in the depths of her mind, that was the reason that tore them apart. "Always Sahara had seen him. And always she had refused to walk away. The last time, it had cost her seven years of her life. This time, he'd lay the world itself at her feet."As a reader, I was so confused, and at the same time, so curious about what went wrong, what was the cause for their separation, and why Kaleb had feared so much that Sahara will remember what happened. All I'm gonna say is, when the memory had finally surfaced to her consciousness, it was nothing like I thought it would be...;)"He would do things for he'd do for no one else, but while he'd empty the sky for her so she could spread her wings, fly, he would not set her free. She belonged to him, would always belong to him."I'm not gonna give away anything more, because this book should be read without knowing too much. It adds to the air of mystery that surround their past."He'd always said yes to her, to the girl who had given him a sense of belonging, a sense of home. As she'd grown and realized where he went when he left her, what was done to him, those eyes had turned bruised. But never had she turned away from him, no matter how broken he was when he came to her."The book was amazing. The love story was EPIC. I've never read about a hero so dedicate to someone like Kaleb was. There was no limits to the lengths Kaleb would go to bring his love back, and keep her safe after. And never, ever, let her go."You", he said, "are the single exception that rule." The oldest, deepest, most beautiful flaw in his Silence. "Without you, I would be a monster."To say i loved it, would be the understatement of the year ;)"Only you," he said, the vow a final one. "My fierce, intelligent, lovely Sahara who spit in a monster's eye."

4,5 starsRead my review in Indonesian on my little blog here: This book give me so many FEELING.Firstm, I'm so ashamed to admit that recently I'm so hot headed, so stubborn for delaying to read Heart of Obsidian. WHY? Because I'm so pissed off when reading any spoiler about who The Ghost was and it spoiled my excitement when the book finally come in my hand. But then, after reading, I keep in my mind that the core of Heart of Obsidian was not who is The Ghost?, because his real identity is no longer matter to me. Heart of Obsidian is a story about two lost souls, two wounded hearts, two broken human beings who finally pass their obstacles and do not want to give up into each other. A story about a dual cardinal Psy and also Councilor with eyes so dark like a midnight sky named Kaleb Krychek and a woman who will make him destroy the world just to see her happy, Sahara Kyriakus. This book started so slow, and the mystery is too deep, make me confused and frustated to know what exactly going on between that two. I also deeply disturbed by Kaleb's behavior to Sahara in the first part. His dominance make me scream, make me"I don't want to read another alpha male that do not respect the heroine!", also Sahara seems like a meek woman. Yet, as the story unraveled, as we venture deep into Kaleb and Sahara's relationship and their past, all his demeanor and Sahara's act to him made sense. Made me understand Kaleb, a broken man with broken mind and soul, yet still fight for what he considered as his. Sahara too, not a damsel in distress. She seems so weak at first because of her captivity, yet in the end she show her strength. I applause Nalini for handled this sensitive (for me!) topic with grace and her beautiful writing style.Oh, did I forget to tell you that Nalini's prose and words are so beautiful, sometimes it make your heart ache? That's what happen to me after read Heart of Obsidian. While Kaleb and Sahara's revelation of love sometimes can be too cheesy and over the top, sometimes I ached for them both. I'm jealous for Sahara, for have a man that soooo devoted to her. That Kaleb not hesitant to bring the world to its ending, tear it apart, if anything bad happen to her. Such a loyalty! Such a quality that I rarely found in romance novels that had so many overused theme, if you get my meaning.Last, ahhh, I don't know what to said anymore, except if you not read Heart of Obsidian, READ IT ASAP! Buy your copy, or borrow it in library. If you already had it, don't make mistake like me. To neglect this book and missed a beautiful love story. And, congrats for Heart of Obsidian to won Romantic Times Reviewers Award for Paranormal Romance category. I know that this book deserve it. Another keeper for sure! For my early opinion and guess about this book, you can see it in this spoiler. Contain so many amused thing, I'm assured you :)(view spoiler)[UPDATENalini just posted two first chapter of Heart of Obsidian, and yes, I refuse to read it. I also refuse to read the first review of HoO posted in Goodreads, since it's way to kill my joy to read the book unspoiled. Also resist to read any Nalini Singh's interview on the blog world about this book. Yep, I'm stubborn like that, lol!But today, I can't finally resist to follow The Ghost hijacking Nalini Singh's twitter, answer some question about him. I believe he do it unwillingly and still full of secrecy. This is what I gather from his (?) tweets :- He doesn't understand with friendship concept, even Judd and Xavier believe they are friend.- He has no family, but related to someone we have met, but the relationship is unknown by others. The relative is male. He will not answer further question about his lineage.- For him, loyalty is everything, that's why he trust Judd, because Judd loyal to his family. He will not betray Judd and Xavier (awww!)- His identity may or may not shock readers. Depend on how we see him (I will not shocked!). - He does not have tattoo (yes!)- Two characters know about his identity , one might be Judd. Since Ghost said, that man know who exactly he is.- The Ghost considered using Sienna for his plan and no, he's not related to her. He also avoid question about Arrow- The Ghost have touchy feeling about marriage (lol!), decline any marriage proposal from readers!- The Ghost is.. virgin!! (woohoo). He never had sex, but it's a tool he will use if necessary.- He had broken when he was child.- His loyalty is to a woman, and his plan seems for this woman too, a woman he met when he was broken. Now I will imagine Benedict Cumberbatch as Ghost. Yess, he will be perfect Ghost!+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Whoever Ghost is (Kaleb, Vasic, etc)... Somebody, please bribe Nalini with chocolate or something sweet so she will spill some secret on this book.Cover and title revealed! Some speculation about this book :The cover remind me of Star Trek Into Darkness movie posterSo, the hero might be The Ghost, with the candicate are Kaleb, Vasic or Aden (based on discussion on Nalini Singh fans Goodreads Group). Why its Ghost? There's some passage from Kiss of Snow that mention about "Obsidian" (thanks, Lulu!):From Kiss of Snow:"That left him with the Obsidian archive. Created by the NetMind, the neosentience that was the guardian and librarian of the Net, the Obsidian archive was a backup in case the PsyNet ever suffered a catastrophic failure. The Ghost had named it Obsidian because the complexity of data within it made it all but a wall of black. Only a rare few individuals had ever realized the Obsidian archive existed. Even fewer knew how to access it." According to one of readers, its from Kaleb's POV. So, Kaleb maybe not Ghost? I believe that Ghost is male, since the cover have man on it. Beside, based on the similarity with Star Trek movie poster (ehm, I don't know if Nalini is Trekkie or not *cough*) which there's opinion that in Star Trek (I might be wrong) the character that played by Benerdict Cumberbatch is might be anti-hero, person who regret his wrong doing and become better. So, its can be Kaleb, can be Vasic, can be Aden. OR a new person we never know of?And I think this one will feature Psy-Psy couple, yay!Official Blurb will be revealed in March 2013!Blurb is up!Step into New York Times bestseller Nalini Singh’s explosive and shockingly passionate Psy-Changeling world…A dangerous, volatile rebel, hands stainedbloodred. A woman whose very existence has beenerased.A love story so dark, it may shatter theworld itself.A deadly price that must be paid. The day of reckoning is here. From “the alpha author of paranormalromance” (Booklist) comes the most highlyanticipated novel of her career—one thatblurs the line between madness and genius, between subjugation and liberation, between the living and the dead. Ugh, this blurb is not explain anything. But the hero become Ghost is true (and still hold possibilities between Kaleb or Vasic). And the heroine might be Alice. 4.5 ★'s Finally, the book we've all been waiting for and the question we hope to get answered...is Kaleb Krychek The Ghost? Well, of course, I'm not going to tell you! But...I will tell you a few things. First off let me just say that Nalini Singh can write like no other. I was blown away by how she wrote Kaleb and Sahara. Granted, she's written a few other good characters...okay, maybe quite a few other good characters, but these two are amazing! I was a little hesitant about how two Psys would work being together and having any type of passion but believe me, you don't have to worry about that. Both Kaleb and Sahara have had issues in the past that they've had to overcome and if you've been reading all the books in the series, you know how powerful Kaleb is and NS does not have weak heroines. Top that off with Kaleb and Sahara being childhood friends and you get a deeply emotional tie that defies Silence. I do have to say that I did have a bit of a hard time with Kaleb. I knew he would be harder to warm up to than Judd...I just didn't realize how much. Black Ice is such an accurate term but I loved how he was being affected and what would happen! Sahara was wonderful...I liked her right from the get-go. Reading about how she treated Kaleb as a child just warmed my heart! The charms were one of my favorite parts and I loved all the stories behind them...that and the math and how she would bargain with him. Even though Kaleb and Sahara knew each other growing up and had feelings for each other, you can feel them falling even more in love. It did make me laugh when Kaleb lost a bit of control but I also loved seeing Sahara experiencing things. The "educational" videos were a hoot and just sooo something Kaleb would do. There is a lot of history to go through and we do get to read about Sahara's family and her becoming friends with some of the other characters we already know. There are some really sweet scenes and one of my favorites that calls her "little sister". (I loved that!) I wished we had gotten more scene time from more characters but there really wasn't enough time. Of course, there's all kinds of drama with the Pure Psy...a lot of 'explosive' scenes. I really liked seeing all the Psy, Changeling and Humans working together. It will be interesting to see where things go from here.And...there was a hint of something possibly? between two Arrows. I'm not sure if anything will happen or not. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here and who the next book will be about! And that question that I mentioned in the beginning...yes, it does get answered. (But I'm still not telling you!!) Favorite quotes:♥ “You are here,” he said in a tone that made her heart thump wildly against her ribs, “because you belong to me.”♥ "Some things need to be broken to become stronger."♥ “I can feel you deep inside, a midnight star so impossibly strong and loving and mine.” Her voice trembled. “I’m so glad you’re mine. I won’t ever let you go.”

This book was so awesome. It's definitely in my top 3 in the series.Since I enjoyed this system on my previous review I will use it again to make clear what I like about this book the most! The couple: ★★★★★ The heroine: ★★★★★★★★★★ The hero: ★★★★★★★ The plot: ★★★★★The limited POVS: ★★★★★ Aden & Vasic: ★★★★★I won't name the heroes although I'm pretty sure there aren't many people who haven't heard who they are anymore. Still...The heroWhat can I say about the "Obsidian" male? He is definitely in my top ten list of book heroes as of now. He is sexy, powerful, ruthless and loyal to a single woman. For her he would destroy the world(literally) but for her he would also save it. His love for the heroine doesn't make him "soft", just makes him think hard before being doing something bad! I LOVED him. I have a think for anti-heros and bad boys and he is certainly both but the heroine gives him a conciense or more accurately she IS his consciense. I am tempted to fight Ang for rights over him.The heroineNow the heroine was the best thing in this book. She was beyond the good mark. The girl was such a beautiful surprise. After being imprisoned for 7 years and treated like an animal she has the strength to go on with her life, to be thankful for the things she got back, to forgive the ones who harmed her, to dance with the most frightening man in the world. I respect her strength of character and loved the fact that she didn't have one whiny comment, one self-pitying instant. She was exactly what I like in my heroines, gutsy, brave, forgiving, compassionate and so damn strong. I would recommend this book to everyone just based on her.The story was nice. Especially the romance related stuff. I enjoyed how their love grew and developed over the years and how they never lost their faith in each other even when the heroine couldn't remember anything of her life. Such a beautiful love story! The plot in general was interesting. I liked the hero's displays of power and the way the heroines good nature made him a better person. I kind of liked the way the "war" progressed (view spoiler)[and the Pure Psy were defeated although I wanted Vasquez to suffer more(muaha haha). (hide spoiler)] But this was no surprise. Nalini Singh has proven many times that she knows how to write an arresting book and this is one of her best. This book is definitely a 5 and I certainly forget many things I wanted to adress in my review but for now that's all!;)1st re-read 26/08/2014This book only gets better. I have so much respect for the heroine. The second time only added to it. And the hero gets more sexy every time...["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Beautiful love story!...(NO spoilers)Avoid 'spoilery' reviews and just read the book! Discovering the answers as you read is a rewarding experience. All you need to know is Friendship, Loyalty, Kindness, and Love save the characters from devastation. Psy romances don't really excite me (changelings rock my world) and I wasn't too eager for this book, BUT I loved the hero, heroine, setting, conflict, storytelling...EVERYTHING! It also didn't hurt that it contained one of my favorite tropes. (Not telling in this review.)This will be one of my favorite Psy/Changeling series rereads. It's not a story to be missed. Nalini Singh will keep you coming back for more after you read Heart of Obsidian.

5 OMG STARS!!!Oh. My. God. This book was so freaking good!!!!!!!!! Holy crap! Loved it! What I don't know is this: Would I have loved it more if i had read books 2 through 11? Or, what if I had read all of those books, and.....I ended up disliking a bunch of them and ended up quitting the series? So, I just don't know. Now I have to decide whether or not to go back and read some of the books or just go forward from here. OR, just be happy with this book. lolKaleb and Sahara were beautiful together. Absolutely beautiful. This book was so exciting and heartbreaking and emotional and sexy. It was just GREAT!! I will definitely be reading it again.

There has been so much hype surrounding the 12th book in Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series. With the identity of the hero and heroine kept under wraps until the book was released, readers have been on edge with anticipation as speculations reached a whirlwind of activity. Singh had a major challenge on her hands. The big reveal could either blow readers away with her ingenious plan or it could become a major disappoint. However, had there ever been a doubt to Singh’s talent? A master of lyrical words and quiet, but intense emotions, Singh pens an epic masterpiece with the latest installment to the series. Readers will be floored not only by the reveal of the characters, but also by its lyrical detail and its heart-stopping emotions. HEART OF OBSIDIAN stands as one of the best books Singh has penned in her career.Attention to detail is what Singh prevails in. Each page, each word is necessary in building a vivid, dramatic picture. The main characters are hauntingly real and claw into your heart with their broken pasts. Action on a level you’ve never seen before in this series takes this book from good to stellar. I felt that Singh poured her whole soul into the pages of this book. You can feel her heartbeats pulsing on the page. In a dramatic and satisfying serving, HEART OF OBSIDIAN not only surpassed my high expectations, but Singh has ruined me for all other books. Passion on this level cannot be easily redone or replicated. Only Singh holds that power to blend lethal power and restrained passion and make it work. Reviewed for Fresh Fiction

Move over Kiss of Snow. As much as I loved that book, Heart of Obsidian is even better. Easily and completely my new favorite in the Psy-Changeling series. I'm going to try very hard not to spoil the story beyond a basic set-up, but I am going to mention the hero and heroine by name, so beware.Kaleb Krychek has been this powerful enigma ever since the series began. He is cold and calculating. But there is a fire under that ice that is positively molten. He has led a life shaped by cruelty at the hands of his mentor. He was brutalized. He never knew love or loyalty, until he met Sahara Nightstar. As children, they became the best of friends. She was his one solace... until she was ripped away. He has spent the past seven years searching for her. And now that he has her back, he will never let her go again. There is so much passion and emotion in this book. Kaleb's devotion to Sahara is so complete, so unbreakable, it's breathtaking. He is willing to do anything --give anything-- be anything-- for this fragile, abused woman. He would burn the world for her, and, frankly, he has the power to do it. His memories of her have shaped his entire life.Meanwhile, she has no memory of him at all. Years of torture have robbed her of so much, yet she knows him on a visceral level. She trusts him; she is drawn to him. And as she heals, she begins to remember him in bits and pieces.I love these two as individuals, but they are exponentially more amazing as a couple. What they bring out in each other is the very best part of the book. Their love is unconditional. They do not try to change each other. They simply are better people because of each other. Kaleb is no saint; he never has been. But Sahara doesn't expect him to be. She SEES him and loves him anyway... no --not in spite of who he is, but BECAUSE of it. He was forged in fire and it was what made him the man who owns her heart. It's her unflinching love of his true self that has changed his life; it is the delicate string that makes him a man instead of a monster.I could gush forever on the dynamic of the relationship... on how amazingly Nalini Singh crafted this bleak, unbending man who holds on to his humanity with the ray of hope created by one woman's regard. I could warn you to arm yourself with a fan to cool off from the OHMYGODHOT sex. But I would be remiss if I didn't also at least mention two other major points. One: We finally learn the identity of the Ghost and it's revealed in fabulous fashion. And two: the ending is huge. It will change the course of the series. It speaks to just how epic the romance is, however, that when the story is done, that's really all you'll be thinking about.I would not change a thing about this book. It was phenomenal. Go buy it right now.Rating: A+ *ARC Provided by Berkley

Yes! After not liking the last two jerks male love-interests in these books, I finally got a pay-off for continuing on! WoooHoo! His story was worth the wait.ok, a bit much, but I did frolic on the inside. Kind of.In this book we have a psy couple who were close during childhood until she was kidnapped at 16, and tortured for 7 years. He searched for her for all of those years and finally frees her early in the book. But, her memories are gone and she is just a bit screwed up. Imagine that! She had held on for all of those years because of his last words to her:"I'll come for you! Survive! Survive for me!" that's right, he was as relentless as a toddler when you are trying to use the bathroom or talk on the phone...But, he was broken too. He had been so horribly abused by a monster that he almost became a monster himself.monsters and kids are not always a good match...Her love might be the only thing that can save him. And, if he goes down, he'll take the world with him. Which seems perfectly reasonable to me. That's how I want to go too. this dog is my spirit animalNot only is the romance awesome in this book, but we also get some major action in the psy war, and we get to learn who the Ghost is! Finally! Definitely my fav of the series.

There has been much build up and secrecy with this book in the months leading up to publication. Who is the hero? Who is the heroine? Is the Ghost involved? I’ve gone back and forth trying to figure out how to review this book and not give away answers to those who are trying to avoid spoilers. But at the same time, it’s hard to review a book when I can’t mention characters by name. So, I’ve decided to put the entire review under a spoiler tag. I don’t give away any major plot points or crazy spoilers, but under the spoiler tag I do mention who the hero and heroine is and I set-up the book etc.. Your choice whether you want to click. For those who choose not to read it for now, let me tell you this is one of my absolute favorite reads of the year. Nalini Singh not only has built an incredible world, but she gives us such an intense, dramatic romance. It’s awesome.Onto the review….(view spoiler)[Kaleb Krycheck, the dual cardinal with unimaginable power. He easily gets added to my favorite hero list, and honestly – I wasn’t obsessed with him prior to this book as others were. But now that I’ve been in his head, know his story and know the lengths he has gone (and would go) to keep his love safe, I’m blown away. From an extremely young age, the Psy knew Kaleb was very powerful. Taken from his home at the age of three, he was put into a special school for Cardinal Psy. But he didn’t stay there long. Councilor Santano Enrique decided he would be his protégé, and for Kaleb this would change his life in a drastic, evil way. Santano was a serial killer, torturing victim after victim, all the while tearing his way into Kaleb’s mind and body, forcing him to watch, participate and be a part of the extreme evil. This obviously destroys Kaleb. He has one light of hope though. A young girl he happens to meet named Sahara. She is much younger than him, but she becomes his friend as they meet secretly once in awhile. She hugs him one day and he realizes he has never been touched by another human. He falls in love. But when Sahara is sixteen, she is captured, tortured, and kidnapped. Eventually, Kaleb becomes strong enough to get out of Santano’s control, and for the next seven years he searches relentlessly for her. And then he finds her. And he knows, he will never, ever let her go. (And I won’t tell you who has her – but what Kaleb does to this person once he discovers who it is – it’s pretty hardcore. I loved)Sahara is part of the NIghtStar clan (cousin to Faith). While in captivity, she created a labyrinth in her mind, to keep her secrets safe. When Kaleb finds her, she has been tortured and her mind is broken. Very slowly she realizes even though Kaleb has her in a new cage of sorts (his home – he won’t let her go) he is different than her captors. Because her mind is so broken, she doesn’t remember Kaleb or much of anything. Slowly though, she starts to build trust, and her memories start to come back.“Tell me you aren’t evil.” Please.Kaleb’s thumbs moved against he temples. “I’m sorry.”Shaking her head in a mute refusal to accept what he was trying to tell her, she lifted trembling fingers to his jaw. “What have you done?”“Too much that can never be undone.”Crying in earnest now for a man she didn’t know, and yet who was in the most secret part of her heart, she wrapped her arms around his neck and held on, just held on, all the while knowing that he might already have slipped out of her grasp. His arms came around her, locked tight, his breath harsh against her ear. “I’m sorry,” he said again, voice rough as sandpaper and body rigid, as if he’d clenched every muscle he possessed.“It’s okay,” she said through her sobs, “It’s okay.”This is what I love about Sahara. Her mind is broken, her memories are only coming to her in pieces, yet inherently she knows Kaleb is not the man Santano made him into be. Kaleb is the most powerful man on the planet, and a girl with a broken mind is the only one that can save him. It’s really beautiful and passionate. Kaleb is so powerful he can not only crack the Earth’s surface with just a thought, but he is strong enough and has plans to either control or destroy the PsyNet. Depending on Sahara, and whether she is ever harmed again, will depend on if the Net gets to live.I could go on and one with the set-up, but let’s get to the good stuff. Kaleb is the most intense, protective hero I’ve read in a long time. The combination of his love (even though he thinks he can’t love) for Sahara and his Silence training, makes me just flail my arms. He is black ice. Nalini Singh gives him insane pent-up emotions, that violently leave his body as he becomes physically active with Sahara. He is her rock, her foundation even though she doesn’t remember him. And as the story unfolds, Sahara becomes his rock. She sees the darkness in him. She understands the horrors he faced with Santano growing up. She is patient, and kind and so loving of him. His love for her – the fact that he finally has her again, is so intense. And he is so tormented, tortured, guilt-ridden, Silent, powerful.Sahara’s eyes were haunted when they met his. “Am I so important to you?”“Yes,” he said. “You’re everything.” The entire reason for his existence.A single tear trailed down Sahara’s cheek. “Why can’t I remember you?”“You’re not strong enough yet.” For the horror, the pain, the realization of the betrayal that had splattered blood around a cheap hotel room when she’d been a girl on the brink of womanhood.Stroking her fingers along his jaw, she said, “Come back, Kaleb.” and stepped closer, moving her hands to his lapels to push the unbuttoned suit jacket off his shoulders. “Walk out of the dark.” But in the darkness and among the drama, there are some scenes that will make you smile. Their love is earth shattering. No really.“I just checked the PsyNet,” she said, her own breathing not exactly even. “This region just experienced a medium-sized earthquake.”Kaleb turned his head on the pillow. “It was located deep underground, I made sure of that. No real damage.”Oh Kaleb. You literally rocked Sahara’s world.Kaleb and his Arrows are also fighting a war with the PurePsy and their relentless attacks. I really enjoyed how this part of the book played out and how it has been building up through the series. The outcome is pretty awesome as well. December 2016 Re-read: This book is, by far, my favorite book in the series. I devour this book every time I pick it up. I laugh, I cry, I feel every moment. Original Review: I didn't have words enough to write a proper review of this the first couple of times I read it. And I'm not sure it's going to be much better this time. The problem that I'm having is that I refuse to spoil who the heroes are. No one knew prior to cracking open the book and diving in - did we have our suspicions? Heck yeah, and I was happy that I was right - but I think the joy of each reader discovering that for themselves is something beautiful.I'll do my best though. With everything fresh in my mind, I think I can manage something other a bit more specific than my previous thoughts. For eleven books now we've been watching as the battle for the very lives of the Psy in the PsyNet was fought - in shadows and secret, against humans and changelings and even the Psy themselves - this war was touching everyone, every group, on the planet. It all comes to a head in Heart of Obsidian. Nalini Singh skillfully brings us to the main resolution of the overriding story-arc that's driven each story in the books (including this one). There's still story to be told - have no fear - but this is the climax. Everything comes to a head, loyalties are tested, results are gathered, moves are made and nothing will ever be the same.I've always loved Nalini's ability to build such an intricate and real world that I'm invested in it completely. How they're all tangled up together and actions taken by one can affect so many. There's no isolated group that's not affected, but a whole - depending on the careful and fair balance of the world that is their own as well. The main characters are amazing - probably my favorites of all time. My heart broke for them many times - as expected - but was also filled to bursting as they came closer together, healing each other and themselves of hurts that were previously thought to go too deep.We get a lot of little glimpses of other characters that we fell in love with in previous books, but even saying much more than that will be a hint as to whose story this is.If you love the Psy-Changeling world, you're going to read this and you're going to (likely) be as excited as I was for it...and you're going to love it.If you haven't read the Psy-Changeling series - why not? Give it a try, it's well worth it.I guess this isn't much better than my previous review. I may as well end it the same: Nalini Singh's best novel yet. My favorite book in the series. Period. No contestation. I loved every minute. Easily in my Top 10 favorite books of all-time. 26 March 2014: UK: £2.99 on Kindle (Amazon UK Daily Deal - Today Only!!!)I can't bring together enough words to really do a review justice just yet. But I will say that this is Nalini Singh's best novel yet. It's my favorite book. I loved every minute.
