Flight Of a Valentine Reviews
So, as soon as I started reading this book I could tell that I was going to like it. I didn't. I truly loved it! It is this raw, emotional, erotic, authentic story of a 30 something woman who needs a break from the life that she loves but has let get to a point she's not over joyed with. She decides to head home to reconnect with her family. There is no insta-love, kidnapping, or outrageously dangerous plot twists, yet I struggled to put this book down all day yesterday. It was emotional and I wasn't quite sure what was coming up next but it never really felt angsty. The female lead, Angela, is not perfect but she is happy with the person she is. Then there's Boone...ahhhhh, Boone! Tall, broad, young and sexy beyond imagination. You can feel the sexual tension from their first (humorous) encounter. I was mad, turned on, hurt, confused, laughing my ass off and both very happy and very upset during the course of this read. The story is deep and detail rich and the characters are well developed. I can imagine that everyone can see a little bit of their own family in the Valentines. The sex scenes are very erotic and may cause spontaneous orgasms! But, there was a lot more to this story than just the sex. Total Cliffhanger! We get a little taste of book two though. I am excited to read book two and would definitely recommend this read to a friend!
Okay, I'm on the fence here and I'm unsure which way I want to go. First of all, I'm a stickler for spelling and grammar. This book had serious issues with both and for that reason alone lost a five star review. So we're down to four stars and falling...there were things that didn't make sense like why Angela's ex, Chris & Boone's ex, Cheyene were involved in digging up the arrest record and what would Boone have to deal with once Angela returned to Atlanta??? AND What the hell is the deal with the Valentine family?? None of that, including the bullshit "surprise" party, was ever explained. That brings me to three stars...which I'll stick to because this book had a lot going for it. I think it just missed the mark though. I'm no writer and I'm sure getting a book out there is far from easy but inexperience definitely showed here. The book had so much potential and was actually quite sexy.
Angela Valentine was in a routine that was unhealthy. We have probably all been there. She decides to take Flight and head home to Virginia for the summer to sort out her life. Family relations are stressed and tension filled but she is determined to fix her life and family is on the list. She encounters Boone but decides she should not get involved but Boone has other ideas. Follow Angela on her path to sorting her life and finding herself. This book is awesome and most of us can relate at some point to Angela. There are sex scenes but not as graphic as other books I have read. There are spelling and grammatical errors but they do not take away from the story being told. Angela's tale continues in A Peach State of Mind.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Was so easy to relate to the characters. As the story unfolded, I was always wondering what was going to happen next. Loved the humor, the characters, & the erotic portions....wow!! Looking forward to the next book in the series!
