The boy was just his type, but he’d found through the grapevine that the blond also came with a ton of baggage. Evidently the boy’s ex really did a number on him, enough that his friends held an intervention. But it didn’t help, the boy just stopped talking to all of them. Why the kid stayed with his ex for so long ‘Jake’ couldn’t understand, but now the boy was free and still making all the wrong choices. The boy put on a brave front as he laughed, flirted and seemed to revel in the hungry eyes on him. But when he thought no one was watching, the smile slipped away and sadness settled across his features. And each time the boy returned to the club after an encounter, he looked more broken than the time before. But why should ‘Jake’ care? The boy wasn’t his problem. What the kid needed was a shrink. So why did ‘Jake’ keep thinking about him? Too much baggage he kept telling himself. But every time he looked at the lost boy he couldn’t help thinking, “What if?”Photo Description: The slim sub’s thumb was dipped inside his blue tie-dyed underwear, teasing his cock. He’d worn them to please his Dom, and the addition of his shiny motorcycle jacket, his only other piece of clothing, was the perfect naughty counterpoint to his sweet face. His high cheekbones, that soft blond hair sweeping just above his gray-blue eyes, and those plump, pink lips made him look innocent. The heat in his eyes was anything but. This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love Has No Boundaries" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story....

Nice entry in the LHNB event. Longer than most in the event so we got to see the relationship develop between the MCs. The d/s scenes were also very well written and very hot. This author seems to have a very good touch in writing those type of scenes. The secondary characters of Page and Brandon were very good. I could easily read a story about how Brandon handles bratty Page :)For me, I didn't feel the paranormal aspect was really needed and distracted me a bit from what could have been an extremely well done contemporary BDSM (mainly d/s) story. There was enough hurdles for the MCs with it just being contemporary. The reason that Cason came up with to push Vince away also seemed a bit weak because of the paranormal. If it was going to be paranormal, I think that should be a bigger part of the story or drop it and make it contemporary. Others may disagree. Overall, I did really enjoy this one and would be interested in more from this author. I really appreciate the author providing this for free for the event.

I enjoyed this, for the most part. I haven't been all that interested in BDSM lately (and tho boy have I gone thru an awful lot of them this month), but this wasn't all bad. I did find the whole deimen thing a bit...superfluous? Like I'm entirely sure that this book wouldn't have been better if it was taken out because it only really made things a bit more confusing than it needed to be. Maybe if this was a bit longer and the whole deimen aspect had a larger part in the story it might have been better.

I am not one to normally go for the mythical reads. I have found most are bogged down in world building. This was an exception, mostly because there wasn't a lot of building or explanation. I became vested in the characters quickly, which is a must in a short story. I was reading it waiting to get a CT-Scan and had to stop reading there because I got a little warm. So, the sex was hot. It's not what I would call heavy BDSM but lite. Enjoy! Thanks to Alicia for sharing it with us.

I really liked Vince, and the D/s scenes were steamy hot. I wasn't as sure about the paranormal aspects which distracted me from my favorite parts of the story.

I submitted a prompt to the 2013 Love Has No Boundaries event on the M/M Romance group and it was claimed by Alicia Nordwell. Thanks Alicia! The prompt and story, which is titled Needing You, can be found here: (view spoiler)[Summary:Cason is a man that is drawn to helping people, not only for his job, but even in his off hour recreation. He’s a counselor, a talented woodworker and a Dom. Cason has a special ability to sense what a person needs in order to fulfill their full potential in what they seek. It makes him a great counselor and a sought after Dom, only lately Cason has become restless. Helping the subs find their bliss is no longer satisfying. After Cason guides the subs to finding what they need, they inevitably leave Cason alone once again. However, there is one sub who visits the bar he frequents that Cason can’t take his eyes off of. A sub that he knows desperately needs help, but somehow Cason can’t ‘sense’ what Vince needs. Cason can’t read Vince and he feels helpless because he feels attracted to Vince yet frustrated because he doesn’t know how to help him and he fears that even if he helps Vince, Vince will leave him like all the others and Cason knows he won’t be able to handle that. Vince is one messed up sub. His ex-boyfriend and subsequent self-labeled Doms, have done a number on him, making him fearful of his desires and afraid of physical pain. He also has a hard time trusting anyone.Review:What can I say except I loved this story! Alicia took my prompt and threw in some unexpected twists dealing with paranormal abilities and Mythology which I happen to love. I didn’t feel the mythology overwhelmed the story and merely enhanced and explained why Cason was the way he was. It also made me wonder about his family history and how the mythology affected them. It also made me think that somehow the Fates had stepped in so that Cason couldn’t see Vince’s needs and desires. Without giving too much away, Cason now had to deal with Vince like normal people who stumble and make mistakes along with misunderstandings as we get to know someone. Without the use of Cason’s ability around Vince, discovering all there was about Vince was new and surprising. Anyway, I would have loved to find out about Cason’s family history since it was a tempting tease to what little we were shown.I not only loved Cason and Vince's characters but I also loved Brandon, Cason’s friend who was a Dom and Brandon’s bratty sub Page, who was Vince’s roommate. They would be a fun couple to learn more about if Alicia ever felt like writing more to this story *wink.* I also enjoyed Vince’s friends and how they were protective of Vince even after the way he had behaved toward them. This wasn’t an instant love story but a love that grew over time and I really liked that. And while their love grew Cason and Vince were having some very hot sex, yum. Cason retaught Vince that BDSM didn’t necessarily mean pain without the ability to say no, and that Vince needn’t be ashamed of his kinks and desires. That being said, Alicia did a great job of showing the readers the BDSM scene and some scenarios between Cason and Vince. There was one particular scene that Alicia wrote that gave me a great visual and it sticks out in my mind every time I think about the story.“You don’t know shit!”Cason froze, then turned around slowly. Vince was standing in the entry to the dining room. His hands were clenched into fists against his thighs, thumping against his legs as he glared at Cason.Somehow the image of Vince standing in the entry thumping his legs with his fists stands out to me and really conveys Vince’s anger. Finally, I rate a story based on a prompt by how well the author fulfilled the wishes of the requestor. Another factor is if the author added anything to the story that made it unique or unexpected. And finally, are the usual factors that I use when reviewing a story. Alicia accomplished all of that. And since it’s my prompt she fulfilled, it’s much easier for me to critique what I find enjoyable or not. I give this story 5 Stars. Thanks, Alicia for selecting my prompt!(hide spoiler)]

Cason is a descendant of a deimon, meaning he's very good at reading people. He uses this ability as a Dom to help subs find their way and to realize their desires. (view spoiler)[But that means that the subs only wants him for a one-time thing. Cason has been satisfied with this, and by helping the subs. But lately he wants more. Lately he wants Vince, a lost sub, but when it comes to Vince his powers aren't working.Regardless he wants to help Vince, and he simply wants him. And Vince wants him too. But Vince has been hurt by previous Doms, and Cason has to take it slow and show Vince that submission is given not taken. After their sessions, Cason expects Vince to leave, and when he doesn't seem to do that, he chases him away. But their common friend gets them together again, and Cason explains all that he is and why he was pushing Vince away, when Vince wanted to stay... (hide spoiler)]I liked this one. It was well written, and the characters good. There was chemistry between Cason and Vince, and neither of them was perfect. I very much liked the fact that it wasn't insta-love, and a little angsty. What I didn't like so much was the paranormal elements of Cason being a deimon, and what came with. I prefer pure contemporary romances, and didn't think that this deimon-business was really needed.

Not my usual fare but interesting to see the development of the relationship between the Dom Cason and his sub Vince.I like a little rough play and bondage from time to time but am not by any means into the D/s lifestyle, so much of this was new and beyond my normal comfort zone personally. It is nice to know that there are and or should be Doms out there like Cason who really are concerned with their subs welfare and not just their own self gratification.A good read but one I had to take at a much slower pace as I tried to digest and understand the life style depicted here.

This was a sweet story. I loved the sex scenes, and the sounding. Yum. The chemistry between Vincent and Cason was good. I was thrown off by the paranormal element. I accepted it for the plot, but didn't particularly care for it. Im not sure what exactly was wrong with it. It was different. I liked both characters. There was a decent amount of time spent ensuring that Vincent was OK. I liked the overall story. (view spoiler)[ I would have preferred it ended after Vincent met Cason's family.(hide spoiler)]I nice heart warming story.

LHNB Story released 6.7.13Very well written and enjoyable story of a damaged sub, Vince, and the Dom who believes he simply wants to do what he does with other subs, give them what they need and then push them in the right direction to a Dom of their own. The story has an added paranormal element to it, which for me just didn't seem completely necessary for the enjoyment of the overall story. The "big misunderstanding" trope is not a favourite, particularly in D/s stories where trust between the parties has to be a major factor, but this part was well done.

I'm positively impressed in Alicia Nordwell's story here. Her plotted story here is, personally, really well written, pulling and gives us a total satisfying ending. I like both MC's, that why I wish there was more. RECOMMENDED!

Forsooth milord. A Dom with daemon in his bloodlines uses his psychic powers to read the aura of needy subs so he can use his psychosexualtherapeutical superpowers to....couldn't read anymore, my eyeballs were twitching hysterically.

I really enjoyed this one and found both Vince and Cason to be interesting characters. I loved the theme of healing Vince's past experiences as a submissive and showing him what it means to be in a healthy D/s relationship. However, I felt the paranormal elements were a little odd and I actually would have preferred the story without them.Content Note: past abuse, BDSM

1,5*This was apparently not my thing, here were so many things that bugged me.I didn't connect to the MC's at all.The paranormal aspect was unnecessary and kind of strange. And I'm no one for "sexual healing" - have great sex and everything (abuse, PTSD or whatever) is healed. It's like an excuse for no interaction apart from sex.Using your paranormal abilities to let submissive's with the help of BDSM sex find their core?? No further comment. We are told what a great Dom Cason is and that he talks with his subs through everything before a scene. And when he sits down with Vince it's just a talk about basics?!? With a sub who has apparently been abused??? The sex scenes didn't do anything for me and apparently I have a very different opinion on what's "taking it slow" during the first encounter means when it ends with a, from the beginning on planned, sounding. The conflict in the end was just ridiculous and forced, just to have a kind of climax. So many repetitive phrases. This is now the third BDSM story I came across where the sub has ADHD which is kind of magically getting better because he has a dom now he can focus on. I think that's utter BS and insulting to people who "suffer" from ADHD.

This was a terrific story. It's the story of Cason, a "daimon" who possesses special talents to be able to see within some people and be able to guide them to what they really need. Cason applies this gift both in his job as a counselor and in his lifestyle as a Dom. When he observes Vince, a sub who is struggling to find a Dom to meet his needs, he decides to intervene and help Vince even though his special powers don't seem to be working when he interacts with Vince. What I liked: --the dynamics between Cason and Vince from their initial meeting through Vince's confrontation with Cason at the end;--the new perspective the author provided via her introduction of "daimons";--the BDSM - not too heavy but very erotic as Cason worked with Vince to find his needs;--the heat between the two MCs (fans self);--the heat between the two MCs --Oh, did I already say that? Well, it bears repeating (fans self again). There really wasn't anything I didn't like about this story and I hope to read more from this author in the future. I really appreciate the authors who provided us with wonderful stories for the LHNB event, and this one was so outstanding that it was even more remarkable that it was free. I highly recommend this to all my friends.

★★★ = It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. It was just okay.I saw "Alicia Nordwell" and "free download" and that was enough to convince me to start reading. On the other hand I don't like BDSM, at all, like, I would never read it, so, I can't rate this high as I don't like that genre. That being said, my rating is not subject to Alicia's skills. The story was well written. It had good flow and even though it was BDSM, it was very tame and more consensual bondage with some toys; tolerable for someone like myself. I also like the relationship and conversations between the characters, and, those sex scenes were pretty hot (even though the BDSM moments didn't do it for me)I will also admit, I had to google a few of the toys and terms and my husband's face was priceless as I described what urethral sounding was to him hahaI can't really recommend a BDSM novel as I have no knowledge in that topic what-so-ever, but I will say that I highly recommend anything from Alicia as her stories are worthy reads.

I liked the plot idea of this story, damaged sub meets a Dom who only ever gets one scene with subs before they work out someone else is more their type and leave. The story didn't get a higher rating from me though, as I felt the situation with the ex, who may or may not have been a daimon, felt a bit of an added extra that hadn't been fully developed and although I connected with Cason, I never felt any affinity with Vince. That said the care and compassion Cason had for Vince was very sweet and heartwarming and Vince's responsiveness was lovely to read.

3.5 starsI enjoyed this story, although I would have preferred the lack of the paranormal element. I think it would have been a pretty good BDSM contemporary story without it. I enjoyed the development of the MC's relationship and the BDSM scenes were hot. The secondary characters were interesting. Cason's reason for pushing Vince away (related with the paranormal element) was weak and this last part of the story was not satisfying, thus not quite reaching 4 stars. This was my first story by the author and I'd love to read more of her work.

I liked this one well enough-- I'm a sucker for the little sub needing to be rescued by the big dom trope. The kink in this was very mild, really, but there was a nice emotional connection there. The part about Vince's ex boyfriend was never properly explained, though. I kept expecting that there would be a reason why it was mentioned, but nope. Disappointing on that one front, but a nice quick read overall.

A lovely and heart warming story with some interesting Greek mythology. It was a pleasure watching Vince begin to trust again and take pleasure and pride in his submission. My only problem was that the dialogue was rather strange at times and perhaps unnatural and there were a few phrases here and there which didn't quite fit the character or story. Overall it was an enjoyable story.Rating: Slightly more than 3

This isn't really m kind of book. I'm not a big fan of BDSM but I'm learning a little. I guess I mostley read it becuase of the promise of an abused MC, I do love those. The story was good but I did think that Cason was a little thick, it was soo obvius that Vince wanted him end yet he couldn't see it...stupid.

This was a pretty story about Vince a sub who was abused he can't seem to find a Dom to give him what he wants until Cason. He is a well respected Dom who never has the same partner twice. This book had some really hot scenes and I wanted more. This is my first time reading this author the book was really well written and I am looking forward to reading more of her work.

I liked this one. The characters were great and the story too. Only the paranormal stuff didn't quite work for me because it was too "little" for me. There was too little background of that for me to truly understand what it means to have a Daimon as an ancestor and so on.Other than that - good story.

This was a cute little story. It wasn't real heavy on BDSM but it was a different look at it. I couldn't figure out why Cason was fighting the whole thing so much. I do wish that we could have seen more of Vince. I would have liked a little more balance to the story but the writting was well done. I really enjoyed reading it.

I don't typically like D/s stories but this one was free so I figured I'd give it a read. It's not my cup of tea but it was very steamy and kept me reading to the end. The paranormal aspect was unexpected and I wish we could have learned more about that. But it was good as-is :-)
