Holiday Sparks is a short story from the Naughty and Nice Anthology, and since each story has also been released as a short, I'll review them separately.Chloe Burke has come home to house sit for her parents who have taken a holiday cruise. It’s been a long time since Chloe has been here, and much to her surprise the house is an accident waiting to happen. She learns this the hard way when she tries use the microwave and loses electricity to half the house. Had she found the note her mother left explaining that she shouldn’t use the microwave while the light over the sink was on, she wouldn’t have had the problem. This note listed several other things she shouldn’t do - such as blow dry her hair in the bathroom with the light on. Concerned for her parent’s safety, she decides that for Christmas she’ll have her parent’s house rewired and puts in a call to the town’s electrician who, unbeknownst to her, is very happy to hear from Chloe.Scott Quinn has had a crazy secret crush on Chloe Burke ever since high school, but when she moved away to Boston, he moved on with his own life, too – not that she’d ever noticed him anyway. Now she’s back and in need of his electrical skills, and he can’t help but imagine his other “skills” he’d like to impress her with.Holiday Sparks is my first read by this author and I enjoyed it. This was a sweet, romantic story with enough sizzle to heat things up and make this a sexy holiday read. 3.75/5 Stars

I don't know how much my enjoyment of this read was affected by the recent change in my reading time, which has been seriously reduced due to my going back to work full time, but the end result is what matters: I loved it! It was such a cute and sexy Christmas story!Web designer Chloe Burke leaves the comfort of her condo in Boston to spend the Holidays in her small hometown in Maine so she can house-sit her childhood home while her parents are on vacation. Not every old house comes with ancient, round, screw-in things instead of a neat row of circuit breakers, but Chloe's parents' does. So when the microwave blows up and the lights go out, it's time to call a professional.Scott Quinn, Chloe's parents's electrician, is more than happy to help her, despite the fact it's past regular business hours. They went to school together and he's never forgotten her, even though she doesn't really remember him. Back in high school, she was the beautiful and popular cheerleader with no shortage of hot guys to keep her distracted and he was the skinny guy with crooked bowl haircut and Coke-bottle glasses who had a crush on her but was too shy to even say "hi". Ten years later, she's still as cute and sexy as he remembers, but he's changed. Time at the gym and working for a living have given him some muscle tone and provided him with the money for a real barber, and Lasik surgery has rid him of the hated thick glasses that made him look bug-eyed.Have a look at "my" Scott ---- as he was in high school:-- as he is now:Scott has certainly improved over the years, hasn't he? No wonder Chloe can't stop fantasizing about him now. ;) As she's only in town temporarily and will go back to Boston after the Holidays, they agree on indulging in a no-strings, no-expectations affair. When they realize they enjoy each other's company out of bed just as much as on it, can they find a way to turn their holiday fling into the real thing?I adored Scott and Chloe! They were funny - their thoughts made me LOL a couple of times - and had great chemistry together. Even though the time frame of this story is rather short (around three weeks), the development of their relationship didn't feel rushed and I had no problem believing they were in love when I closed the book. Why? Because their "fling" wasn't just about sex and they actually spend time enjoying each other's company and doing couple's stuff, even though they weren't aware of it at the time.If I have one "complaint" about this book is that it was too short. Not because I felt there was something missing, but because I wanted to spend more time with Scott and Chloe. Overall, this was an excellent read and I highly recommend it.Note: This story is also available in Naughty and Nice anthology.

I read this as part of the anthology 'Naughty and Nice', and found this story to be the stand out winner. A great holiday romance read.Web designer Chloe Burke returns to her small hometown in Main to house sit while her parents take a long cruise. Master electrician Scott Quinn is thrilled to get a call from his high school fantasy girl to help fix electrical problems at her parent's old house. Chloe does not remember Scott, but the attraction sizzles between these two quickly. With Chloe going back to Boston in only a few weeks they both realize that it's a temporary affair, but the connection between these two is undeniably hot.Holiday Sparks was a wonderful steamy hot holiday romance that had me grinning ear-to-ear through the entire story. I absolutely love great dialogue and teasing banter between the hero and heroine, and this one had some of the best I have read in a long while. The pacing was so believable that I never once doubted that these two could really fall in love (and lust!) with each other in only a few short weeks. I only wish this were a full-length novel, as I would have enjoyed spending a lot more time reading about these two. I loved it!

So I promised the husband I'd buy no more books for a while. I have a ton in the bookshelf and on my kindle that are waiting to be read. BUT, I'd heard so much about this book that I couldn't resist. What a fun book! I loved the story and the characters. As always with a novella, my complaint is that I would have liked to spend more time with them. Definitely worth the look I'll get from the hubby. And for under $3, it's a bargain for sure. :)

This might be my favorite story of hers that I've read. The plot is properly paced for the short story length, there's great sexual tension, the characters felt like real people and it had a resolution that fits the story and the characters perfectly.

Re-read Dec. 2012. Not quite as good as I remember, but still worth the quick read! This was an excellent Christmas novella. Although it's very short (7 chapters), it does manage to pull off a bit of depth.I liked this couple. The hero has been infatuated with the heroine since high school. I love books like this! I loved the humor in this book and the dialogue was quick and snappy. I finished this book in one sitting without a problem and finished it with a smile on my face. I recommend this book to those interested in a quick and satisfying Christmas read.

This is such a sweet little story, with likeable characters, and a lovely ending. I really enjoyed reading it, and I ended up with one of those Ahh! cheesy grins on my face. In fact the only really bad thing I can say about this one is the cover with the Britney Spears lookalike and 18 year-old bloke behind her.

I sat down and read this with a cup of tea and a shortbread cookie, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. A sweet, romantic holiday story with decent character development.(Okay, I lied. I sat with a cup of decaf coffee and stale banana bread. But the tea and shortbread sounds so much more sophisticated! :::sigh:::)ETA 8/6/13Enjoyed it on audio. Good narrator.

This was an alright read. I thought that there was no much to the story, which made it kind of boring to read. Also, I thought the romance was lacking. I thought the characters were okay. I did not love them nor dislike them. I can’t wait to see how her series turn out. I hope I enjoy them more. Overall, an okay read.

Okay, this one was cute. Popular girl returns home and finds someone who captures her interest. I liked that Scott had been shy and quiet back in high school and he'd found his path since and blossomed. So to speak. I liked that Chloe wasn't the typical mean type of popular girl, they simply ran in different circles and their paths rarely crossed back then. Now that they have...sparks are a flyin'!There's banter. There's sexy times. There's banter during the sexy times. And there's a dog. *thumbs up* to the pooch!-Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal

Looking for a little holiday read to get you in the Christmas spirit? Well then look no further than Holiday Sparks from Carina Press by Shannon Stacey because it is the perfect holiday stocking stuffer for your E-reader.I’ve read three books by Shannon Stacey this year and each one has delivered on the laughs, making me smile from ear to ear, great banter between the main characters and always a great, feel good story. My first Shannon Stacey read, Exclusively Yours is one of my favorite reads of 2010.I felt a real connection...in the electrical emergency sense anyway to Chloe Burke. Turn on the microwave and blow a fuse...yes that has happened to me. I have a fuse panel that I really should get changed over to a breaker system...mmmm I wonder if I call an electrician now I might end up with my very own version of a Scott Quinn? Probably not. With my luck, the hunchback of Notre Dame is likely to arrive. One of the many charming things about Holiday Sparks was that Chloe and Scott kind of knew each other in high school, but not really. I say kind of because she was the hot chick (and still is) while Scott was the guy in thick glasses and had the bowl haircut who liked her from afar. So while he recognizes Chloe immediately when he shows up on her parents front porch, she has no recollection of him. Seems he’s changed...a lot. Gorgeous, sexy as all get out with his low slung tool belt and some incredibly flat, rock-hard abs. Yummy! No more glasses and nasty haircut for this guy.Holiday Sparks is a cute, short novella and surprisingly hot. Yes the sparks really do fly between Chloe and Scott but in a truly believable manner considering the course of this book takes place over the period of a couple of weeks. My holiday wish was that their story had been longer. Of course I feel that way about most story stories that I really like. They're over way too soon.I would be remiss in my review if I did not mention the other character who totally stole my heart. Now this guy’s a bit hairy, but loyal and undeniably lovable (HEY - that could be the title of the next Shannon Stacey novel!) none the less. He’s a little attention hog, always on the lookout for a good belly rub and a quick pat on the head and he’s the best foot warmer evah! Yes I‘m talking about Kojak the German Shepherd, Scott’s 4-legged companion. I want my very own Kojak and well I wouldn’t turn down my very own Scott either (just saying). Put aside the stress of the holidays and forget about all the baking and shopping and wrapping and cleaning you still have to do before Christmas and enjoy a little Holiday Sparks. It’ll be a lot easier to do all those things with a smile on your face which you can count on after reading this cute holiday novella.

3.5-4 starsThis was a cute short story. I really liked Chloe and Scott and enjoyed their story.Chloe is a web designer that lives in Boston. She's back home for a few weeks watching her parents house in her home town while they're on a cruise. When she gets there the first thing that happens is she blows a fuse and takes out half the power in the house. When she looks for a breaker box she finds old, decrepit wiring and so she calls an electrician.Scott is the local electrician and a good guy. He remembers Chloe from school and fondly as he always had a thing for her. Unfortunately he'd been shorter, skinnier and shyer and she never knew who he was (except for one brief moment between them). He's filled out and shed the glasses and made a success of himself and loves his life even if he's a bit lonely. When Chloe and Scott first meet back up there's an instant attraction. He replaces a fuse for her but when Chloe finds out how bad the wiring in the house is, she decides to rewire the whole house as a Christmas gift to her parents (and herself so she wouldn't be constantly worried about her parents dying in a house fire). It doesn't take long before the attraction between Chloe and Scott sparks in to flames and they end up agreeing to a holiday fling that will end when Chloe goes home. They have a wonderful time together and spend most of their time together. They burn up the sheets but they also hang out doing other stuff together like shopping for Christmas gifts, watching movies, having dinner and many other things. As you can guess this builds the feelings between the 2 of them until the end comes and they either need to face their feelings and figure out how to be together or let a good things get away from them. Thankfully they come to their senses (almost at the same time) and the story ends with them starting their HEA.This was a very enjoyable story. I liked the characters and the story itself. While the plot may be a well used one the author did a good job with it. I'd recommend this story for people in the mood for a short but sweet holiday romance. :)* note - I listened to the audio version of this and the narrator did a good job on it.

Publisher: Carina PressPublish Date: December 6thHow I got this book: NatGalleyChloe is house-sitting for her parents when she inadvertently blows a fuse she had never seen before. She calls the local electrician, and when more sparks begin to fly at her first glimpse of him, she decides to do a whole electrical re-wiring of her parents house as a Christmas gift. Scott has had a huge crush on Chloe for as long as he can remember, and when the chance comes to spend almost every day with her, he jumps at the opportunity. But while Chloe is obviously attracted to him now, he can’t help but wonder what she’ll think when she realizes who he really. As they spend more and more time together, the attraction that is heating up quickly morphs into something more, but it is something they are ready for?I thought this story was so cute and sweet. Another amazing Shannon Stacey creation, she has quickly become one of my favorite contemporary romance authors. I always enjoy stories about couples who either dated or knew each other previously, and find each other again. Although Scott and Chloe were never involved in high school, he seriously crushed on her, and she did notice him, despite what he thought. Being that I was a pretty big nerd in high school, I always love to see the underdog rise up and get the girl. One of the things that I’ve come to count on with Stacey is that she always delivers great, well rounded characters. Chloe and Scott are no exception, and although the story is a short one, they just dragged me under and into their story, and left me wishing it could continue on and on. Also, being a HUGE animal lover and advocate, I’m always excited when authors add in animals into their stories (as mine are a huge part of my life). I was so glad to see how large of a part the dog Kojack played. It’s just a simple little extra touch that leaves a smile on my face even now, days after I’ve finished the story. This novella is a part of the Naughty and Nice anthology from Carina Press. It can be purchased in the anthology (featuring stories by Jaci Burton, Megan Hart, and Lauren Dane) or by itself. All in all, I give Holiday Sparks 4 out of 5 smokin’ electricians!

I read this novella in the Naughty and Nice anthology when it first came out (scroll down a bit to see the brief reviews). Sometimes when I can’t decide what to listen to next a novella length story is low risk – this one was only a couple hours long so the time investment was small. And, I had fond memories of the story. Chloe Burke is a web designer who lives in Boston but has come back to her small Maine hometown ot housesit for her parents in the weeks before Christmas. Electrical problems lead her to electrician and all round hotty, Scott Quinn. They went to school together but he looked a lot different then (he was a nerd). Sparks fly (heh) and they start a fling. The conflict is that Scott is embedded in his hometown and Chloe is going back to Boston. Given Chloe’s job, it has a relatively easy resolution once they are committed to seeing if the relationship holds to its early promise and it is perfect for a novella length story. It’s sweet, sexy and low angst and I liked it very much.I hadn’t heard Savannah Richards narrate before. She had convincing deeper tones for Scott and generally a pleasant voice to listen to. However, there was one thing which bothered me and it’s very much a “it’s not you it’s me” thing – articulating it is hard because it is an aural thing. The best I can do is to say there is kind of a lowering of pitch and a kind of … trailing off at the end of many sentences. It bugged me a bit. I’m sure others won’t notice it at all and others who do, won’t mind it but it’s the sort of things that I hear straight off and, over time, it gets a bit like fingernails on a blackboard to me. Fortunately, it’s a short novella so I didn’t have time for annoyance to truly set in. Honestly, the rest of the narration was very good. I think I’m just fussy.I’m sure I bought this as a stand alone – but my records don’t tell me if it was a special release. All I could find at Audible today was the entire anthology.http://www.kaetrinsmusings.com/2014/1...

This is my first Shannon Stacey story and I loved it! It was perfect for getting me into the holiday season.Chloe Burke returned to the small town in Maine where she grew up to house sit while her parents are on a cruise. After having some electrical problems, she contacts a local electrician, who happens to be a hunky former classmate she couldn’t remember. Scott Quinn had always had a crush on Chloe in school, but back then he wasn’t much to look at, and she was one of the cool kids. Chloe decides to pay him to rewire her parents’ house as a Christmas gift to them. The constant interaction between the two results in an agreement for a no strings fling that would end when Scott finishes the job in three weeks and Chloe’s parents return home to spend Christmas with her.The gift they ended up giving each other had me saying "awwww". These two were really just too cute. I was dying for them to finally get together. After the # weeks were up I actually asked out loud, "What will they do?" but of course Shannon Stacey had a plan. Even though Scott preferred his small town life and Chloe preferred her life in Boston, they were willing to do whatever it took to make it work. The passion they feel for each other is phenomenal. Both Chloe and Scott are lovable characters, and so many amusing parts that had me grinning. The novella was good I wished it was longer. Chloe and Scott are very lovable characters. I loved that they were normal people and reading about their love story made me all giddy inside. I mean 10 years having a crush and then finally getting the girl. Who could ask for anything more enjoyable. The sparks between them made every page of the book a real pleasure to enjoy. The end so romantic so of course I recommend this book to all those who love Holiday themed stories. :-)

Chloe Burke is house-sitting for her parents over the holidays while her parents go on a three week cruise. Upon arriving, she immediately blows a fuse warming up coffee. Attempting to through the breaker switch, she realizes that electrical system in this old house is, well plain old and a fire hazard. Searching through the phone book, she finds an electricians number and calls right away to get the fuse replaced.Scott Quinn is a local electrician, having lived in town all of his life. Chloe Burke was often his fantasy girl in his dreams, even though she never knew he existed when they were teenagers. A lot of changes has been made to his appearance like laser eye surgery and he is now buff from working out. After changing the fuse, he tells Chloe that it is a mess basically. So the two devise a plan to replace the electrical system as Chloe’s gift to her parents for Christmas. This puts the two young lovers around each other a lot. She is always cold and he is always hot, taking off his shirt. The become friends again, and eventually lovers over the course of the holiday. But she has a job in the big city and he just wants to stay in the small town. This is a short and delightful Christmas love story. They were both normal, average people falling in love. The only drama to the story was her going back home and could they find a resolution to be together. It made me feel young again at the start of a good and loving relationship. The characters and supporting characters are all great. For a little holiday cheer, I suggest this short novella.

4.5 Stars*Got this for free on Audible from their Christmas in July discount*Considering it was free, I didn't expect that much from it. I knew it was going to be short (3.5 hours I think). But I was pleasantly surprised! The characters were so adorable and cute together. I loved how she was kind of his 'dream girl', which I thought was super cute. Chloe Burke is house sitting for her parents, while they are on a cruise. Since her father is one of those 'do-it-yourself' kind of guys (but never actually does anything), she hires sexy Scott Quinn to re-wire the old house as a Christmas present to her parents. Chloe has been Scott's high school fantasy and now that he has finally grown up, cut his hair and gotten contacts, she is noticing him. And thus they begin a holiday fling...I guess I would have liked it if it was a bit longer BUT I wish that with all short stories. Would definitely recommend for a short and sweet book. Plus the narrator was great (for audio book listeners)

If you're a fan of Shannon Stacey (and if you're not, you're totally missing out. She's a fav contemporary author! Auto buy!) then you'll be thrilled to know this might be a short story, but it's packed with her trade mark tongue in cheek humor, emanates emotion with every page, and was just an all around great read. This was a reread for me ~ I'd read it last year, but I totally enjoyed it again. Chloe & Scott decide they'll just have a holiday fling, but they just genuinely like and enjoy one another so much it was a pleasure to read and 'see' them falling. I loved Scott even more because he was that invisible, nerdy boy from high school who'd crused on popular Chole ~ and thought she'd remember him as such. She remembers him as that guy who'd once given her a dandelion when she'd had a bad day. Scott has a German Shephard, Kojack, who tags along w/ him everywhere ~ how are NOT going to love a man w/ a dog? Just an all around Feel Good read ~ I was smiling when I was done at 5:30 am, WaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAyyy beyond my sleep time!

Really liked it!Chloe Burke returns to her small hometown to house sit while her parents take a long cruise during Christmas. She quickly learns that her parents house is falling apart and is in need of repair. Especially the electical wiring. She blows a fuse after using the microwave minutes after arriving for her 3 week stay. Scott Quinn who owns his own electical company is thrilled to get a call from his high school fantasy girl to help fix electrical problems. Almost immediatly there is "sparks". Chloe does not remember Scott as he was in high school. She contracts him out to replace the ancient wiring and to give her parents a safe and wonderful Christmas gift. During this three weeks Chloe and Scott get to know each other again and they start up a steamy fling. I loved this couple and it was really well written on how compatible they really are. I loved this HEA holiday story and I loved the dog Kojak. It was a real life feeling story. Great holiday romance!

After a little tweet from Angela James about how she couldn't put Shannon Stacey's book down I decided to give her another try. I wasn't completely sold on her when I tried her 2nd book, but figured hey...it's a short one. Ill give her another try.I'm glad I did. This was a very sweet story. And with all the erotic and thrillers I've been reading lately it was a welcome change. I read it well into the night last night after already being up LATE with my crit partner. It was well worth it though. It felt like one of the sweet romances I used to read when I was in High School. A little sexy, a lot emotional, and a lovely HEA that gave me the warm and fuzzies. If you want a feel good read, this is one for you to try. I'd reeeeeally like Mr. Quinn to show up at my door for an electrical problem. Mmmm. ;)

Cute story. Stand-alone. Hot electrician, used to be the school's geek back in high school. The cheerleader he used to drool over is back in town to spend Christmas with her parents, and is waiting at their house for them to come home from vacation. While there she discovers their house needs a major electrical upgrade and calls Scott in from the phone book. She can't remember him, because obviously he has changed and is now a hottie. He still drools over her. They decide to have a holiday fling while he's fixing her parents wiring and end up wanting a relationship (after just three weeks).

Sparks start flying when Chloe returns home for the Christmas holidays to watch over her parent’s house only to blow up the electrical panel and call in electrician, Scott Quinn. Scott is none other than the guy that pined for Chloe Burke all through high school. But things have changed since then; Scott is now a successful business owner and one hot guy. The added muscle and sex appeal are hard to ignore as Chloe tries to work while Scott re-wires her folk’s home and her heart. This is one romantic and heart warming story that will have you wanting to pack Chloe’s bags to move her back to old home town.4 stars

Holiday Sparks The Characters Chloe Burke Scott Quinn The Story It was nice to see a book where the man made a complete physical overhaul instead of the woman. Chloe and Scott are cute together. Though most of the book they were in their own little bubble, I’d love to see how their relationship plays out when they take it out to the real world. The Random Thoughts I didn’t really care for the way the narrator did Scott’s voice. 4 Stars

Much better Ms. Stacey! After the farce that was Forever Again, i looked for another of your stories that i hadn't read, just to remind myself what a awesome writer you are. This little read was perfect! It was funny as; i kept giggling the whole way through, it was sweet and most importantly, it still had some hot, sexual tension which translated to some red-hot sex!

Very short but steamy and cute with good chemistry! I really enjoyed it and would have loved it as a slightly longer book with more development; I could really see the potential. I loved Chloe and Scott and the small town setting. And Scott's dog was adorable too! If you're looking for a fun, sexy Christmas novella this is a great one to pick up.
