Ugh this book was okay for me. I liked the idea behind it and I can't wait to read the rest of the series but basically all of the book was explaining who she was and her abilities. Seriously? Just get to the fight already, which, by the way, was a piss-poor fight. I like a good fight in a book. I did like the romantic triangle going on. Although I wish Alexei was more, I don't know, confident/sure of himself. I totally agreed with Elisabeth when she said he wasn't a monster. But anyway, over all it was an okay book. Really hoping the rest of the series is better.

If you like boarding school romps like Harry Potter and The Name of the Star (Maureen Johnson) you'll like this. I loved reading about Elisabeth and her daily life at school after the huge realization about her identity comes to light. At first she's a little naive, but by the end of the book I can see her kicking some butt and ultimately becoming Alexi's equal. Must have more Alexi/Elisabeth. Can't wait for book 2! I don't see a slump in this author's future.
