Children's picture book. Emma has a hard time falling asleep, so she tries counting sheep. She counts up to 107 sheep, but something has happened to the 108th sheep. The illustrations in this book are fascinating, also the paper used in this book has great texture. Use in a unit about counting in the hundred's, nighttime or problem solving.

This is a really sweet bedtime story about a little girl that can't fall asleep. She decides to count sheep, only the 108th sheep can't seem to jump over her headboard...no one will be able to go to sleep if he isn't up for the task. The book has really darling black & white illustrations.

This book is about a little girl named Emma who is trying to fall asleep at night. She tries everything– drinks warm milk and reads books but nothing will do the trick. She has the idea to count sheep until she falls asleep, but once she gets to 108, the sheep gets stuck under her bed. Emma solves the problem and quickly falls asleep. Only in the morning there was no trace of the sheep...maybe they were only a dream. The theme of this book is bedtime stories. I liked this book because it would be good to read before bed time. The rhyme scheme makes it easy to follow along, and shows little kids that everyone has trouble going to sleep sometimes. I recommend this book because it is a cute quick read to tuck your kids in at night.

Imai's spare visual style and narrative simplicity give this story its push while leaving space for the reader's imagination. Emma's strategy for getting to sleep is commonly enough referred to—does anyone really count sheep?—but the narrative arc that includes a sheep who struggles to jump Emma's bed creates the situation that solves Emma's problem. Imai's use of the page (printed on textured stock) and each lined frame leaves lots of space to dream. I don't know whether younger readers will get it, but that still seems okay. Did I mention that it is oddly and drowsily whimsical too.

Sweet likeable book about a theme most children would be able to relate to. It didn't make the earth move for me but I liked it and enjoyed the lively illustrations. I am happy to read this to children

Lovely presentation: the paper is gorgeous, the illustrations are sweet. The storyline is cute, but the prose is unengaging.

Nice book. Interesting art. I picked this book out since 108 happened to be one of my favorite numbers (oddly enough). I liked it.

Love the story. Not too long & not too short. My daughter loves it before nap time. Helps that the character is her same name. Thanks Aunt Kerry. Perfect find

Everyone has heard of counting sheep when you can't fall asleep, so this could start with a universal memory.
