Title: A Sandcastle ChristmasAuthor: J.D. FaverPublished: J.D.F.Reviewed By: Arlena DeanGenre: RomanceTags: Contemporary, Romantic Suspense, + Seasonal / Holiday, + Extra LongRating: 5Review:"A Sandcastle Christmas" by J.D.Faver was one very good read and the first read for me by this author. I will say it will not be the last because I do plan on checking out more from this author's series. I found that "A Sandcastle Christmas" was a novel that had a little bit of it all from "infant abandoned in the a manger scene at church, it sets off a string of events including murder, a stalker, a lot of seasonal tension and heartwarming happenings for the gang" that will keep you turning the pages until the end. The characters were all so well developed, colorful, likable and so very intriguing. Many of the characters from Chloe and Rafael, Darla and Mike, Cassie and Javier and Sky, Zach and may other secondary characters will give the reader such a very intriguing read. This author has brought all of these characters together during this special time of the year with each onebringing 'their own set of troubles with them.' The big question is will this sheriff will be able to solve these mysteries with the help of the community during this holiday season? At this time I will say you must pick up "The Sandcastle Christmas" to see how this author will bring it all out to the reader. This novel is from 'The Edge of Texas series' and even though this novel can be a stand alone read I am going to suggest that the reader can get a better read on what has happened earlier by reading the series. Be ready for a Christmas story with some mystery though into this warm beautiful storyline of romance and "A Sandcastle Christmas" will give you a very good amazing read that I would definitely recommend to you as a amazing good read.

Like visiting old friends, it's always great to return to this sunny Texas island and catch up with the unique characters Ms. Faver writes about. This time around, although Christmas should be a time of peace and goodwill toward mankind, trouble rears its ugly head. With an abandoned baby, the return of an old foe, and the death of an unlikable woman, the police and residents alike are all dealing with more than just the usual quest for the perfect gift. Filled with love, humor, and mystery, A Sandcastle Christmas is a wonderful addition to The Edge of Texas Series!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I've read other books in the Edge of Texas series. This was a nice visit with all the characters. A little romance, some Christmas cheer, murder and intrigue! What more could you ask for? J.D. Faver weaves the tale in a way that doesn't lose the reader along the way. Reading the first 4 books isn't necessary to enjoy Sandcastle Christmas. But I would recommend them!

After reading the blurb, I was looking forward to reading a Christmas romantic suspense, especially when the couples were all married. What I didn't know was that it was the fifth book in a series and the couples all had back stories that I didn't know since I had not read the other books in this series. With 4 couples in this book and each of them with over-protective men and women who were in, or had been in, some sort of danger, I had a hard time keeping track of everyone.Starting out finding a baby in a manger of a church Nativity scene caught my attention right away but that lead to murder and other nasty events. This did not turn out to be the feel-good Christmas story I had expected.Other than the murder and mayhem, this story followed these couples preparing for Christmas with their families. There was a big a difference between their quiet, every-day family activities and the terrifying events they were all involved in, starting with finding the baby. All in all, I didn't enjoy this book due to the number of characters that I couldn't keep straight in my mind. Who was married to who and who was related to what bad guy?If you have been following this series, you would like A Sandcastle Christmas.

This is not a warm and fuzzy Christmas story.Maybe if I had read the other books in the series, I would have been better off. Not sure about that, but I know I continually got lost in the number of characters and stories. From the title, I expected a heart warming story, but I got murder, attempted murder, attempted kidnapping. It would hop from a touching family moment to someone being physically attacked. This is about people who live on the Texas coast. These are people who are close to their loved ones and their friends. We get information about planning for Christmas shopping, holiday dinners and decorating trees. This should be that story that makes you smile at the beauty of the season. But, there are so many people and so many details that it seemed to bog down for me. I felt as though there were many repetitious scenes and descriptions.I feel badly that I did not enjoy this book as much as I hoped. The plot itself could be interesting if it were written in a tighter manner with fewer added extraneous details. The characters (and there are many of them) were interesting with real life problems. I liked the down to earth feeling of that part of the story. But, it was hard for me to keep track of who was who and their relationships. It seemed there was too much jumping back and forth from story to story. I wanted to like this book much more than I did.

There were a lot of characters with a lot of history among them. At times, I found myself getting confused about the relationships. Finding a baby in the manger of a church Nativity scene was an intriguing start to a series of crimes. Quite convenient that it was the sheriff who happened to find the baby.I think I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read other books in the series and had a better understanding of what happened to these characters in the past.

Read the book in record time. I really don't think I can call it a book. It was way too short - More like a Novella. Just as I can getting to know who the characters were all about, it was over. Turns out there were about 3 or 4 more ahead of this, so I really would have to go back and start at the beginning of the series. I mostly shy away from "series" books these days.

It was difficult to keep all the characters straight, as their lives were so interwoven. It was a bit long due to the many details of daily living. But it was well written and I was determined to get to the end to find out "who done it."

I enjoyed the book. It was like visiting old friends. It did tie up some loose ends from the other books in the series.
