World champion bulldogger Sutton Grant works hard on the road, but his quiet charm has earned the nickname "The Saint" because he's never been the love 'em and leave 'em type with the ladies. When he’s sidelined by an injury, he needs help keeping his horse in competition shape, but he fears trying to sweet-talk premier horse trainer London Gradsky is a losing proposition--because the woman sorta despises him. London is humiliated when her boyfriend dumps her for a rodeo queen. What makes the situation worse? She’s forced to see the lovebirds on the rodeo circuit every weekend. In an attempt to save face, London agrees to assist the notoriously mild, but ruggedly handsome Sutton Grant with his horse training problem on one condition: Sutton has to pretend to be her new boyfriend. But make believe doesn't last long between the sassy cowgirl and the laid-back bulldogger. When the attraction between them ignites, London learns that sexy Sutton is no Saint when that bedroom door closes; he's the red-hot lover she's always dreamed of. The more time they spend together, the more Sutton realizes he wouldn’t mind being roped and tied to the rough and tumble cowgirl for real…...

Roped In is part of the 1001 Dark Nights series… a collection of novellas that are breathtakingly sexy and magically romantic. Some are paranormal, some are erotic. Each and every one is compelling and page turning.Inspired by the exotic tales of The Arabian Nights, 1001 Dark Nights features 12 New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors. In the original, Scheherazade desperately attempts to entertain her husband, the King of Persia, with nightly stories so that he will postpone her execution. In this version, month after month, each of our fabulous authors puts a unique spin on the premise and creates a tale that a new Scheherazade tells long into the dark, dark night.Personally, I’ve actually not read very many of Lorelei James’ novels although I know of her by reputation as a prolific erotic romance author and neither have I read any of the Black Top Cowboys series so I can assure you all that this one will work perfectly well as a standalone.Sutton Grant has a badly behaved horse that needs to be trained while he recuperates from an accident and the one person above all others he wants is the girl who very reluctantly and angrily sold him the horse in the first place – London Gradsky. He thinks she is going to be very fiery and resistant to his proposal but she’s recently been rather publicly dumped by text message and her ex is parading around the rodeo circuit with his new trophy girlfriend in tow and London grabs the chance to get Sutton to pose as her boyfriend in an attempt to get back at him. A woman scorned and all that! What starts as a business agreement for the both of them soon develops into a super-hot attraction and they struggle to resist each other for real. Both of them are a little disillusioned by their lives as they currently are and definitely see something in the other that offers something different and refreshingly honest.Lorelei James does a fantastic job of bringing to life the rodeo circuit, a world completely alien to me as a British reviewer and deftly combines the super-hot erotic sex scenes with actually a really very tender love story.Short, sweet and very, very hot!4 ride’em cowboy stars

I so wanted to enjoy this much more than I did! :( I have loved Sutton from the very first time we met him but wasn't overly keen on London...She came across as so immature and I just didn't feel the connection between them.

Slick‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews5 STARSReview copy provided for a honest reviewThis is one of those times when I wish I had more freakin’ stars to give a book because seriously people I am so pumped up about Roped In. I’ve enjoyed the Blacktop Series from the start but there is something truly special about Sutton Grant and London Gradsky a couple that gives Bran and Harper Turner a run for top couple in my book. Although their relationship started out of necessity; it soon turned in to much more and damn can author Lorelei James heat up a room with just a few words and a well placed ass slap. While Roped In is a novella it reads like a novel and that my friends is the sign of a truly talented author. When bulldogger Sutton Grant has a second life threatening accident he makes a promise to God that if he recovers he’ll never bulldog again and so even though he’s been cleared to go back to his normal routine he hasn’t told his family, his sponsors, or his PR people. Sutton has no intentions of going back to work but until he figures out his life he’s keeping quiet however, his horse Dial needs someone who can work with him and the only other person besides Sutton the horse will obey is London Gradsky, the woman who trained him initially and the woman who hates his guts.Man oh man I so love a story where there is animosity between the hero and heroine right off the bat and London does not like Sutton, not one little bit but there is no denying that that she thinks he’s hot or the fact that he’ll work nicely into her plans to make her ex and his new pretty, pretty princess see that she’s moved on to much better things. Thing is one kiss and they both pretty much realize the heat between them is real and getting to know one another isn’t going to be a hardship. Sutton is one of those good guy heroes that hides a very wicked side, London is sassy and speaks her mind and together they are explosive.I loved how easily these two fell into a routine and into playing house together. Their wicked, hot, insanely sexy moments were passionate and intense. As they both have a little bit of relationship baggage they weren’t very good at sharing their feelings or coming clean about changes in their lives which of course led to them working up to a good mad. Thankfully they had friends and family to help them see the path they needed to take to make things work. Two of my favorite scenes were Sutton meeting up with Tanna and eventually Fletch and London with her Mom; you just have to love straight talking women.I really can’t say enough great things about this story other than I read it cover to cover because I simply refused to put it down for anything, yes it is that good! Roped In is everything you’ve come to expect from a Lorelei James book; a sexy hero with a heart of gold, a spitfire heroine, a well developed plot with a side of supreme sexiness and a need to go back and re-read the whole series all over again!

World champion steer wrestler Sutton Grant was severely injured for the second time. He made a pack with God if he survived, he wouldn't go back, and now he’s trying to figure out what to do with his life and how to tell his ranching family about his decision.London Gradsky was dumped by her wrangler boyfriend for a Texas beauty queen. Even though he didn't rock her world, she's mad and hurt. When Sutton, the man who bought her temperamental horse, Dial, from her parents, shows up and asks for her help training him, London agrees, only if he’ll pretend to be her boyfriend for the summer circuit.Roped In is a fun, sexy novella, which can be read standalone from Ms. James’ Blacktop Cowboys series. Sutton and London share an immediate attraction. They are both are very forward and blunt, speaking openly and honestly about their desires, which makes for a fast-paced story and hot and heavy sex. It's refreshing although, sometimes the frank discussions felt almost too much. There were only a few misunderstandings between the pair, but nothing that made my eyes roll. Overall, Roped In was an enjoyable love story. My Rating: B+ Liked It A Lot

4.5 StarsIt shouldn't come as a surprise to me or any of you, but Lorelei James has done it again! Here's another couple I have fallen hard and fast for.You could say this is an enemies to lovers story, which is a trope I love. Sutton "The Saint" had bought his horse from London's family. A fact she wasn't all too pleased about back then. They had some words and weren't each others favorite person. After Sutton has a major accident and swear he won't go back to competing, he needs some help with his horse to get it trained again and maybe find a new home. So who best than London to do it.London on her part has her own issues. Her ex boyfriend dumped her for the rodeo queen and she's been having to see them showing off their romance around the rodeo circuit, which she's traveling to have her training practice. When Sutton comes looking for her, she seizes the opportunity to exchange favors. He can pretend to be her boyfriend so that she doesn't look pathetic in front of others and she will help with his horse. Things quickly get more serious than that!I love a good, shy hero. And "The Saint" is that at its best. He's all contained emotion waiting to bubble up! He's a gentleman when he needs to be, adorable and caring. You will find yourself quickly in London's shoes and falling for him.Although I wanted a bit more sexy, this story had everything I wanted. I got caught up in their story and could've read about them longer than this was. Another great installment in this series that just leaves me craving more! Write faster!! Because I'm greedy like that.Favorite Quote:"Seeing that fierceness? For her? Immediate lady boner."*ARC provided by publisher

Ms. James consistently brings the power and the passion in her stories. No one can write contemporary erotic western romances like her. Her alpha cowboys always get me riled up and needing a cold shower. The chemistry is ALWAYS there, the steam factor is ALWAYS off the charts, and the emotional pull from each character ALWAYS drags me in and never lets go. Sutton Grant is yet another sexy as sin, delicious cowboy who has been in a rut ever since his injury a while back. London Gradsky is a kick ass cowgirl who has been scorned, and she can't quite let go. Sutton has something London needs and London has something Sutton needs. Sutton needs a trainer for his stubborn horse, and London needs a man by her side to save face. A deal is struck, but no one is thinking of the consequences. When there is no more training to be done, and no more jealousy to be had, where does that leave the two? Do they go their separate ways, or do they cave in to their true feelings for one another? Roped In is just another example of how Ms. James can capture a reader's heart with just a few chapters. Short, sweet, and hella steamy, Sutton and London's love story will have you blushing and laughing the whole way through.*Gifted copy provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*Review will post on Shayna Renee's Spicy Reads closer to release date!

3.5 stars. An okay novella by Lorelei James who writes erotic cowboy stories. Our hero is a world champion steer wrestler recovering from major injuries and our heroine is the lady that trained his horse and now he needs her to work with the horse while he can't ride. Unfortunately, she doesn't like the cowboy much because she thinks he bought the horse under false premises.Well, our cowboy doesn't just use his rope on steers and eventually our lovely horse lady sees the light. But this book just didn't live up to other Lorelei James' books I've read. Maybe it was too short, but it as just okay for me.

I found myself laughing so much while reading, but probably not for the reason the author wanted. I thought Sutton and London were perfect for each other right away. It seemed like their verbal sparing was foreplay right from the start. I loved how they got to know each other first, but also how each one had a different definition of what was going on. Things got so much better once they started to actually communicate.

Lorelei James has done it again with her Blacktop Cowboy series. I liked this story because it wasn't all about the rodeo, but about figuring out what you want after the thrill of rodeoing is gone. This is Sutton and London's story. There is dislike, friendship, and possibly love between these two people.

I am a huge fan of Lorelei James, but this series in particular has been pretty hit and miss for me. I liked Sutton when I first met him, and that didn't change here, but I didn't feel the chemistry between H & h. It seemed like the author just threw them together, and maybe if she would have had more pages for us to get to see the interact leading up to this I would have felt a deeper connection. As it stands, I can't believe that they (Sutton & London, since I just realized I hadn't mentioned her name) fell in love with one another, because I didn't feel anything between them that love could form from. That being said, I was glad to see Sutton find someone to love him for the man he is and not for any ulterior motive.

Late for work againI should know better than to start a book by Lorelei James when I don't have plenty of free time because there is no way I'm going to put it down without finishing it. I love Sutton the former bulldog and London the trainer. Their relationship started a little rocky since Sutton bought London's favorite horse from her family 3 years prior. When a book makes me laugh, hold my breath, wiggle a bit- well those are all keys of a really good read.

It’s been awhile since I read about a cowboy and his woman so when I had an itch for it, I went for this novella from Lorelei James. A part of her Blacktop Cowboys series, Sutton and London’s story is equal parts hot and sexy. The story clips right along and has you wanting to hit the next rodeo that comes to town. A great read!

This was my first blacktop cowboy book and I found it to be just so so. I'm a fan of Lorelei James' sports books - typically rating them with 5 stars. This one just didn't even come close. I'm curious if the next one in the series will be better?

Roped In is story number 6.5 in author Lorelei James’ Blacktop Cowboy Series as well as novella #9 in the 1,001 Dark Nights Series. I was so excited to get my hands on the newest cowboy from Lorelei and oh man, this was one hell of a ride. I loved every minute! As a world champion bulldogger, Sutton Grant isn’t a stranger to injury. But his last injury was almost the permanent lights out type and since then he’s been on the injured reserve, so to speak. He’s on the mend and feeling pretty good but unfortunately, since he couldn’t exactly do much riding, his horse’s training has been neglected and it was really showing. He needed help and knew exactly the person to call. London Gradsky. Too bad she probably wouldn’t be thrilled to hear from him considering she kinda hates him.Still bearing the sting of being dumped by her boyfriend, London really needed a distraction. She never would have thought it would have come in a 6 foot 3, hot and sexy, bulldogger package. When Sutton Grant had gotten in touch with her to help him with his horse, her first reaction was to tell him to find someone else but instead her evil genius went to work and she figured he would be the perfect revenge on her ex. All he had to do was pretend to be her new beau and flaunt their new relationship in her ex’s face. Genius! Except that almost right off the bat her feelings were anything but pretend. Would she be able to stick with the ruse until his horse’s training was over and her ex got his healthy spoonful of “see what you’re missing”?Lemme just take a moment to bask in the memory of Sutton and London *dreamy sigh* Ok, I’m back. This novella absolutely knocked my socks off. From the very first chapter it is packed with emotion, humor, and tons of heat. Sutton is an amazing character. Not only is he built, handsome and sexy as all get out, but also he is sweet and kind. Caring and shy. Sure he knows he’s a good-looking guy but he’s been single for a little while now and is isn’t very confident when it comes to London and is vulnerable. Those are the qualities that had me swooning. London is one of the most fun characters I’ve read in a while. She is such a spitfire and had me laughing out loud more than a few times while reading. I would totally hang out with her. But beyond that she’s strong and not afraid to go after what she wants. Together they are beyond smoking hot! Their personalities compliment one another deliciously and they have a chemistry that is mouthwatering to read. This book played out like a movie in my mind’s eye while I read it and I couldn’t put it down. I’m actually a bit mad at myself for reading it so fast but it was the type of story you lose yourself in. And the ending? The. Freaking. Best.Thank you, Lorelei, for a smoking hot cowboy, his perfect gal, and tons of passion!

Not a fan of the plot or the heroine…This review will probably be in the minority but as all reviews are subjective to the reader it is an honest expression of what I took away from this story.Sutton Grant is a champion bulldogger who is recovering from injury and needs someone to work his horse, to keep him in shape for competition. This is not the first time Sutton has been injured and he has much to think about in regards to his future. The trainer that he wants to work his horse does not like him and he’ll pretty much do anything to get her help and if he can have some fun in the process so be it though he’s not one for casual flings.London Gradsky is the horse trainer that originally trained Sutton’s horse before he bought him from her parent’s stables. She despises him for taking the horse but she also hears what he says about the horse’s needs and because she is in dire need of assistance with something of her own she makes a deal with him to play her new boyfriend so as not to be pitied by others. This reader just did not connect with the plot or with London. I did not expect from the blurb the childishness that was exhibited in the story. For a woman of 27 years of age London is quite immature. She didn’t love her ex so the fact that she needed to rub it in his face and others that she has a new man is teenage behavior. At her age it should not matter what her ex or anyone else thought about their breakup or it wouldn’t to a confidant woman. London was a character with no depth, childish with lustful behaviors. The way she threw herself at Sutton was a turn-off, showing her desperation to have sex. She is a sassy character which I normally like but it rubbed this reader the wrong way. I did not feel that she was the right woman for Sutton or that their chemistry was anything more than just lust. I did not feel that there was an emotional connection between them no matter what was said. Sutton was a character with depth that I very much liked and wanted to know more about what made him tick. I did feel that he was annoyed by the pretense but he needed London to work with his horse and had no other options in the time frame that he had. I would have liked him with another woman, someone much more mature, someone like the old friend that he went to get advice from. With that woman I felt that there was an emotional connection which is what I should have felt that there was between Sutton and London. For this reader Sutton settled for London for the sex and that she didn’t run away from the other things about him, they are not my idea of an ideal couple.

This is a review for Roped In: A Blacktop Cowboys Novella by Lorelei James, which is also part of the super sexy 1001 Dark Nights novella collection. Thus far the collection has boasted tales from Larissa Ione, Heather Graham, and Cherise Sinclair just to name a few…with a promising Breed novella coming from the lovely Lara Adrian next month. This novella weighs in at an estimated 145 pages, and James uses every page to the advantage of the story. You will find that some novellas leave you wanting more details, more story, more character development, but that is not the case with Roped In at all. This tale is about a sassy horse trainer on the rebound and a sweetheart of a cowboy who is struggling with a change of life moment. If you are familiar with rodeo personalities, this book will bring back memories, and if you have yet to get a behind the lines peek at rodeo life then you are in for a treat. London and Sutton seem to be at odds before life pushes them together again, but after striking a deal they start to work toward a common goal. As with many love stories, the end goal becomes muddled in living life and the relationship budding between London and Sutton hangs in the balance.I am not a huge fan of contemporaries, but I thoroughly enjoyed this short and sweet story. It is ideal for a before bedtime read or a short trip, depending on how fast you read (and whether or not you can put it down). Once again the 1001 Dark Nights collection shines, and Lorelei James definitely delivers on her home turf of western romance.RuckieYou can also find the author on her website (18 and over only!), Facebook, or Twitter.http://www.loreleijames.com/https://www.facebook.com/LoreleiJames...https://twitter.com/loreleijamesYou can check out the 1001 Dark Nights line at:http://www.1001darknights.com/https://twitter.com/1001DarkNightshttps://www.facebook.com/1001darknightsIf you enjoyed my review, you can also find me on my website, Facebook, or Twitter.http://www.romancereviewsbyruckie.com/https://www.facebook.com/ruckasaurusrexhttps://twitter.com/reviewsbyruckie

So as someone who used to be a huge fan of Lorelei James' I decided to bite the bullet and continue reading the BTC series. Hell, I used to RP on FB as Tanna, Keely and Kade, so to say I was a fan, is kind of an understatement. But pretty much since Keely and Jack's book (All Jacked Up) and since Tanna and Fletch's book in her series, she seems to be lagging. I don't know if she's lost the passion a bit, or if the direction her characters are taking her in are just not melding with my own enjoyment levels, but these series are not what they used to be. On to Roped In. When I found out Sutton was getting his own book, I was freaking excited. I mean, not only was he kinda an integeral part of Tanna's recovery, but he was awesome in his own right too. So the fact that we get to see him get his happily ever after...epic. Or, so I thought. The truth is, that as far as I'm concerned, the Sutton on the pages in this book are not the Sutton that I'd come to know and love. To find out that the flirty cowboy is actually really shy (SO CALLING BULLSHIT ON THAT BY THE WAY!) but that he kinda secretly has some kind of gun fetish, that he's willing to give up his career as a bulldogger the way he did and that he'd be willing to part with his faithful, but stubborn stead, Dial...NONE OF IT RANG TRUE. The number of WTF? moments I had, nearly left me with whiplash. There was even one point that I sent a ranting text message to Lauren asking why the hell I'd decided it was a good idea to read this book. The honest to god truth is that I'm just not feeling what Lorelei is putting down these days. Not in anything she's written recently. I'd considered myself a massive fan, but now I'm left wondering if I WAS a massive fan. I'm hoping if I bide my time long enough another great novel will be bestowed upon us, but if it doesn't happen soon, then I'm going to have to stop dolling out my cash to find out.

A sexy and rugged rodeo champion who is more Mr. Right than Mr. Right Now and who doesn't sleep around? No wonder they call him "The Saint!"When world champion bulldogger Sutton Grant is injured...again...he starts to think maybe it's time to hang up his rope and retire. But until then, he's still got a horse to keep healthy, and there's nobody better at dealing with his wild horse Dial than premier trainer London Gradsky. The two of them strike a deal: she'll work his horse if he agrees to pose as her lover so she can avoid pity from her asshole ex and his rodeo queen girlfriend. The two of them are shocked to find that they've got some not-so-pretend chemistry, and pretty soon the acting stops completely. But still, neither is willing to offer up the whole truth, and what they don't know about each other could tear them apart. ROPED IN is book is 6.5 in the Blacktop Cowboys series by the über talented Lorelei James, and also a stand-alone addition to the 1001 Dark Nights series featuring magical and mystical erotic stories by a variety of popular authors inspired by the classic The Arabian Nights tale. The extremely insane chemistry between London and Sutton was beyond delicious, and I appreciate that he wasn't the typical rodeo manwhore seen in so many books. London was fab too, a confident, independent and feisty woman who brings Sutton to his knees. Even though the pretend boyfriend scenario has been done, it didn't make this book any less excellent for me. The light BDSM elements were a terrific addition and ROPED IN definitely made me want more more more of the Blacktop Cowboys!

A fun and sexy romp and a great addition to Blacktop Cowboys series.Sutton Grant was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t not like him when we first met him in Turn and Burn, Fletch and Tanna’s book, but in comparison to Fletch and even Eli ~ sigh, yes I have a burning to desire to know more about Muddy Gap’s resident horse whisperer ~ he just couldn’t hold a candle to either of them, but in Roped In, he definitely gives those two hot men, as well as my ultimate favorite BTC cowboy a run for his money. He’s sweet, sexy and insightful, something that was shown in T & B, and just has that it factor that would make anyone want him as their personal book boyfriend. London Gradsky is an absolute spitfire of a woman, and I was offended for her with how she was treated not only by her ex-Stitch but his new woman. Tough as nails with no edit button, she’d be someone I’d want on my side in a verbal smackdown. She cracked me up and introduced me to a new term, douche nozzle. So when she and Sutton meet up again there is no question that things will get interesting. The chemistry between them is explosive and hot. I’ll never think of a gun range in the same way ever again An ornery horse, and a plot to get back at the ex, may have put them in close quarters, but soon they find they compliment each other, despite their differences, and fit in more ways than one. I wish this was longer, the downside of novellas, but if you’ve never read the Blacktop Cowboys series, you can definitely read this as a standalone and not feel like you were missing pieces, though I believe that you should definitely read all the books because there are a few things alluded to that you won’t catch unless you have.
