This novella gives a look at how the world became filled with Howlers and Gimps, just two of the creatures featured in Megan: Breadcrumbs for the Nasties Book One. More importantly, though, we get the origin of Megan's villain, Bloodboots. Novak does an excellent job giving an unlikable character layers. You won't forgive him for his acts in Megan, but you'll come to understand him more. This book also forces you to think about how you would respond, the choices you'd make if the world went to hell. Bloodboots will tide you over - a little - until book two, Monster, releases in the fall.

Bloodthirsty and yet tragic. This is how the world ends; not with a bang but a bloodbath. Well done, Mr Novak.

this series always leaves you looking for more, utterly hooked and desperate for more information. from the first paragraph you are drawn in and i engulfed this short novel in just a few hours. it gives you a bit more insight on how this all started but keeps you dangling until the next book is released. can. not. wait!
