Having already read two of the Ella Medler’s previous books, Martin Little Resurrected and Blood is Heavier, I was very interested to read Not Juliet. I must say it was a pleasant surprise to discover the author’s creative imagination in a compelling romance. The first chapter introduces Riella, a Roma girl, the king’s daughter, Goliath Petulengro’s only offspring. She guiltily thinks of her decision to leave the Romany settlement. Riella has romantic dreams and expectations for a second half that would complete her soul. A great kisser, so warm soft lips would be a must. Eyes to get lost in, deep and dark… She searched for the perfect Romeo to her Juliet. Her romantic dreams are shattered by the cruel hands of tragedy. She finds the camp on fire, one of the women accusing her of the tragedy, and finds her father severely ill. The fire crew confirms it was arson. Someone wants her father dead. Riella embarks on a search for the arsonist with the intention to ask him, to beg, if necessary to allow her father live his last days in peace. But I won’t tell you how the story develops. Grab a copy and find out. You won’t regret. Not Juliet is full of suspense that keeps you turning page after page. The plot and characters are very well written, the story flows extremely well and it’s one of those books you don't want to put down.

Having enjoyed other books in different genres by Ella, I was curious about her romance, Not JulietHoly smokes. Get a bucket of ice water. The story begins with the newly wedded couple, Riella and LucaRiella has found her Romeo. Luca is the man of her dreams. She’s hypnotized by his eyes, melts from his kisses.Luca is the man of any woman’s dreams. He’s lusting for his new bride, but he knows she’s inexperienced, shy, afraid. He’s cautious in his seduction. Taking her in small nibbles, planting the seeds of desire that will consume them both.Riella is a Roma princess. Luca has a secret that may tear them apart. The honeymoon is ended when Riella is abducted and taken back to her camp. Her father is seriously ill and the camp has been attacked by a rival tribe. Someone wants her father dead.As Riella sets out to bring peace to her father in his last days, she discovers Luca’s secret. A secret that shatters her world.Once I started reading this, I realized why the author chose this particular title. This is a love story along the lines of Romeo and Juliet. Two people, a love so deep, and warring families. Will Riella and Luca survive their love? There are rival gangs, betrayal, and love at first sight. Plenty to give you thrills and shivers.I gave this 5 Stars because of how it made me feel. Giddy and warm all over, like a big hug.I received this book as a gift. My review is honest and unbiased.

This story was just beautiful.Once again, as always I will not summarize it, you just have to read it yourself.I will say this though, too bad that it was so short. I could have easily read another ten chapters ;) But I am hopeful that maybe one day there will be a prequel to the book. This story had everything that I personally enjoy reading. It is a beautiful love story, with the right amount of action, perfectly balanced. The writing itself pulled me in, and that is what I adore about this author, I always feel like I have a front row seat in a movie.I truly recommend this to everyone. No matter what your preferred reading genre is (mine is paranormal romance) you won't be disappointed.

Plenty of sizzle and action in all the right places. Not my usual genre, romance, however I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, the crisp writing writing style and the fast flowing story-line right up to its happy conclusion. This author writes with purpose, elegance and clarity. Not Juliet, a love at first sight romance story, has plenty of sizzle and action in and out of the bedroom. It is an enjoyable read that I would highly recommend to all lovers of romance. Oh, and I love stories about Gypsies,so that was a cherry on top of this story that unfolds on the picturous slopes of romantic Tuscany. I look forward to the next book by this very talented author.

This is the ultimate romantic book and I loved it! Not only is there the love at first sight and soul mates angle, you also get a bit of an insight into the Romany life which is great. There is danger, mystery, and there is drama which eases the sweetness of the soul mates line for the non believers of love at first sight! Who knows, maybe after reading this book the non believers will be converted! I definitely recommend this book and am looking forward to the next in the series!

Having never read any of her books,Not Juliet, by Ella Medler was a very nice surprise. Gypsys, spies, love at first sight, betrayal and much more abound in this story. Riella, a gypsy princess who is an outcast to most of her people, has returned to the clan to help her father, the king. If and when her father dies, there will be a challenger from the rival clan trying to take over. On her journey to talk to the rival clan, she meets someone, and although she didn't believe in love at first sight, it has happened. Her Romeo has finally appeared. But things aren't always what Riella thinks they are. Betrayal on 2 sides, someone continually trying to kill her, trying to save her father and also her pride and faith in her people, it's enough to make you crazy. Luca is her hero, her saviour, her Romeo, her betrayer and possibly her assassin? The action abounds, the love flows, the sex is? HOT. She has the details down so perfectly I felt as if I was there. Oh! That reminds me, get the book, read it for yourself, I'm going back and meeting Luca again! OH MY! (sigh)

'I have received this book from the author in return of an honest review.'This book was not at all what I expected. It was better! I truly enjoyed it and was finished within 24 hours. It has action, adventure, love, romance (SO MUCH ROMANCE...WHEW), twists and turns. Riella is very much a prodigal son in the form of a gypsy princess that is determined to make things right by her Father and their people by doing whatever she has to do to save them. She has left home, but has come back to find her world turned upside down when she learns her father is dying, her people hate her and they are under attack by whom, she doesn't know. But she is determined to find out, no matter what it takes. The problem she unaware of who the true enemy is? She falls in love along the way without even knowing his full name. But what is in a name, right? So much more than Riella could ever fact it holds the key to her future. I must say this book had me reelling throughout pretty much the whole story and it was a joy to read. Job well done Ella Medler!

This was an sweet, well written, exciting short story. I read this story in a few hours, had to go to sleep for just a bit, and just couldn't put it down once I started. There is no hiding the "Romeo and Juliet" theme so understand love at first site does exist and then can be torn apart. Ella's writing is so beautiful, from the scenery being described to the feelings of the characters, you will feel the words come to life. Riella and Luca have so much to discover about each other but the love they feel and attraction pushes real life aside until of course it collides. Will they get to their HEA after reality comes into their fairytale? Grab your copy today and find out for yourself. Then look up from the book, your soul mate may be looking for you.I was given a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. Honestly, you will truly enjoy this book and I will certainly have no problem buying future books from Ms. Medler.

This novella is enthralling from the first sentance to the last. I started the book with high expectations anyway due to the cultural heritage of the female main character and to find them not only matched but surpassed was a wonderful surprise. The world building is careful and detailed without ever straying into the path of careless info dumping and the characters themselves are beautifully well-rounded and crafted, individual voices and characteristics highlighted and explained in an outstanding example of how to write in this genre and write well. The narrative voice is crisp and concise and the flow of the book is just a joy to read. I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed this gorgeous story and I'm going to be racing through the author's back catalogue as fast as I can order them. Brilliant book, cannot recommend it enough.

Ella Medler has a poetic way with words. Her vivid descriptions of Tuscany and Florence are rich in detail and utterly captivating. I felt like I was actually there. The author has an in depth knowledge of Romany and their way of life and through her story, we get a peek at these wonderful people and their culture. The author has made Riella, the central character, a rebel and a romantic rolled into one. She dodges bullets and is on a quest to save her father, but at the same time is vulnerable and trusting. And I definitely have a crush on Luca.I started the book, intending to read it over the weekend and ended up finishing it in one sitting. I just had to know what happens next. I loved the final twist in the plot, which I wasn’t expecting (call me naïve) and the nail biting finish. Thanks for a wonderful read Ella!

Ella is able to keep readers hooked right from the beginning, weaving twists and turns into her writing leaving you wanting more. Not Juliet is well-deserving of a 5-star rating.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Ella Medler's "Not Juliet" may just convince you. This is a beautiful love story with strong influences from Romeo and Juliet. The descriptions of gypsy life in England and Italy were fascinating, and the imagery was crisp and vivid, easy to picture everything that happens as if you were right there with the characters falling in love with them just as deeply as they do. The whole story was suspenseful and dramatic, and I couldn't put it down, finishing it in just one day. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. Give this book a try, it's so worth it! 5 stars!**I was provided a copy of this ebook from the author for honest review**

As soon as I read the first page, I was hooked! Beautiful, innocent Riella has wonderfully romantic ideals. As her father lies dying in a gypsy camp in England, Riella travels all over Italy to try to find the Italian gypsy king, in order to barter for her father's need to die in peace. Little does she know that evil is lurking around every corner, disguised as friends. Enter Luca. A tall, dark and handsome man, whom she instantly falls head over heels in love with. Who can she trust? Who really has her best interests at heart? Does love really conquer all? At times sweetly romantic, spicy and seductive, chillingly terrifying, and unbearably sad; this story will grab you by your heart strings and not let go.

This book was exciting and absolutely beautiful and I totally loved it!I am usually not into the love at first sight stories as I find them very cheesy and cliched but this just felt natural, it was written in such a way that you feel like you have known the characters forever so the instant love just makes senseThe plot is fast paced and full of action from beginning to end that will keep you hooked from the very start, but the story isn't rushed at all as are with most novellas , it is very beautifully written so it just flows and the chemistry and passion between the main characters is intense and hot! This book is a must read, it has definitely raised the bar on all romance books for me

The premise of love at first sight is a driving force in this book, with hints of Romeo and Juliet throughout. But that is not all you get with this story. Riella is innocent and optimistic but has depth and intellect, whereas Luca, unquestionably masculine and seductive, displays vulnerability and insecurity at times. The writing is superb, imagery painted vividly in your imagination through beautiful prose. The author delves into Romani culture and custom while interweaving the challenges of the 21st century into the storyline. You expect romance. You'll also find intrigue, seduction, mystery, betrayal, humor, and redemption. Well worth a read!

Not Juliet is a fast-paced short read about a woman named Riella who is a young gypsy. She meets her soul mate, Luca Anziano and it was love at first sight. Her father is the ailing gypsy king who has been receiving threats by a challenger who want to remove him and his family. Riella is on a quest to find the challenger to convince him that her father and family are not a threat to anyone and to allow her father to live out the rest of his days in peace. The story is an enjoyable read and has some smoky hot scenes with a surprise twist towards the end of it.

Oh boy! Get ready for a wild ride. The is a wonderful look into the Gypsy community through the eyes of a young woman trying to help her people and the young man she falls in love with. I really have to work here to not give more away. Luca, the man who falls in love with Riella is a passionate and imaginative man. They do fall in love at first sight but there are some bad guys lurking. This is a story of passion, of family bonds and most of all, love. Great story that had me hooked from the beginning. Excellent read.

Riella Smith may be a Romany Princess but first and foremost she is a daughter. What would you do to prevent your father's death? Riella finds out that what she thought she was willing to do changes as she is finally faced with the reality that trust and love given to the wrong person will affect more than just herself. The story includes betrayal, love, sex, lies and fatherly love. Well written and pulls you in to find exactly what will Riella decide to do and who will actually win her trust and love.

Immediately I take a liking to Riella as she is considerate and appreciative of nature while seeming down to earth. Action and tragedy ensue soon in a way that make me need to read on and discover the cause of such commotion. I love the promise of drama-to-come and am intrigued and hooked. At one point I did put the book down to run errands and I actually had that “I miss my book” feeling. Should’ve read it in one sitting to spare myself the emptiness. Very well written overall with well-designed characters that I became attached to. Will seek more from Ella Medler.

I was gifted this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. Took me only a day to finish, just couldn't put it down. The story moves so quickly, yet perfectly. I just loved Riella from the start and Luca, well what is there not to love. There's plenty of action, lots of steamy sexy scenes, love, adventure...everything fairytales are made of. Just when you doubt love at first sight and a happy ending, you find Not Juliet :) Great job Ella, absolutely loved it!!!!

I received this book in a signed book exchange. This is a captivating story set in the Tuscan Romany world. Ms. Medler has given us mystery and intrigue, as well as family mores, and weaves them into a fascinating romance that leaves you smiling...especially when Riella's mom sees some romantic action, too. If you fancy Romeo-and-Juliet-like reads, then this book is definitely one you will want to add to your shelf.
