Drift Race created some exciting tension because of the change in point-of-view between the main characters. This book would suit a young male reader. It contains plenty of action and also teaches the reader a little about cars and motorsport. This text deals with a character that has a different way of thinking. Andy acted a lot differently compared to everyone else. He would use language and standover tactics to diminish other characters. I found this interesting, because in the end, Andy did change but only after damage was already done. This text made me think about young people and the emerging drifting culture. My concerns are around the safety of this. Jubermann did very well in including both the dangers and also the safety features in drift racing. He also did well in teaching the reader an important lesson on how to handle tough situations and conduct yourself under pressure. An emerging theme was 'not to blame others and instead, look at yourself first.'Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. The issues the characters faced appealed to me and also many others in my age group.
