If you love rockers and music, this series is for you! Yes, it evolves from a foundation of a love story, but this series is so much more. Our main character Victory Payne's journey to achieving her goal, playing her guitar and belonging to a successful band, is depicted here in all its rawness, intimacy, and gut-wrenching reality. It is an eye-opener to the journey a musician must endure and persist in with a dedication that absorbs all their energy and will-power as they are tested time and time again.Left homeless, without a band, and dumped by her boyfriend/band leader, Victory is left to survive based on her wits, friends, and the kindness of strangers. It is her unmovable determination to survive that compels her. Everyone she meets cannot but realize her single purpose to survive makes her unique. Her focus remains on her goal, even though she is human and in need of love and compassion. Kellan Burns comes into her life just as she hits rock bottom. What starts as fan based attraction, develops into a friendship and collaboration that will touch your hearts.Pursuing a dream is never easy. It is the struggle that makes it worthwhile. These are words we hear all the time. Our author Devon Hartford uses his gift for lyrical prose to help immerse us in this struggle, as silent spectators witnessing this story. The topic "from rags to riches" rocker stories are a dime a dozen. Few stories make an impact where your soul is involved in the plot line and you feel emotionally invested. I think I have found one of those few and do not hesitate to recommend this series to those of you who are looking for a love story that goes beyond hot romantic scenes."My whole life I searched for you, my need like a disease. I can't live without your love; you bring me to my knees" - My Whole Life lyrics sung by Kellan Burns

It sucks you right in and doesn't miss a beat*****5 Stars***** As eager as I was to pick this up as soon as I swiped the past page of book one, I thought it would leave me midly disapointed. I WAS SO WRONG!!! It sucks you right in and doesn't miss a beat, picking up where book one left off and the pace is just the same, fast and fluid and completely realistic. Victory is still as strong as she was in book one, in fact I think her strength has grown so much more in book two. Oh and Kellan is still completely swoon-worthy and the tension between he and Victory is intense and fun to read. Almost like being drawn to one another, no matter how hard they fight 'it', they wind up back in each others paths. Can't wait to see things progress is book three...maybe get some answers to lingering questions. But overall, this book was just as hot and rock-n-roll crazy as the last! Loved every page!!

After loving Victory in Book 1, I was looking forward to book 2 and it didn't disappoint. The sexual tension between Victory and Kellan is intense but neither make a move. I really loved the friendly and sexual banter between the two, they made me laugh. Even though they haven't known each other long they seem to click. But Victory has her reservations after what happened with Scott and the band, Kellan is clearly a man-whore and I understand why Victory holds back. She needs to find herself and make her own path in life. I don't know who I'm favoring when it comes to Victory dating, both Kellan and Julian seem panty melting, but time will tell. My stomach knotted when Victory heard Kellan's phone call and I wanted to slap the boy, but miscommunication is a bitch sometimes. Looking forward to VB3 to see where they go...4 stars Reviewed by: Amy @ Eye Candy Bookstore

This and more reviews at The Book Bar.coRating: Top Shelf by Guest Bartender, HayleyThis series is based on the rock and roll scene with a girl named Victory. She has been part of the band, Slave Skin, since it first started out. Whilst gigging, she stumbles across golden boy Kellan Burns and finds herself attracted to him. When boyfriend and lead singer, Scott Walker, and the band mates sign a record contract that doesn't involve Victory, things go down hill fast. After the gig, she finds herself out of the band without a home and living in her car with nothing but her guitar and amp. to keep her company.Victory runs into the handsome Kellan Burns, who also plays guitar, and they have a instant connection. Kellan knows Victory has been sleeping in her car and offers her the couch but the attraction between them keeps Victory from easy sleep.  They jam together, and between the two, they have ideas of where their future could lead.Victory is desperately trying to get her life back in order; she has a part time job working in a guitar shop and finds herself living with her boss and wife whilst she gets herself back on her feet again. When Julian walks through the door and asks Victory to demonstrate a $30,000 guitar for him, he knows she is the best guitarist and asks her to work with him on soundtracks for commercials that would earn her big money. With all these hot men trying to pursue Victory, her only concern is trying to get a band together and ready for the "Gunslingers" competition. Whilst working alongside Kellan at the rock and roll high school, Victory finds herself drawn to him. When he forms a band and the new guitarist is the gorgeous Switchblade, Victory finds herself somewhat jealous. The ending to this series takes a dramatic turn and things end a fantastic way.Devon has written a hot rock and roll series that well deserves the full 5*s.  This series is in three parts, but they are all ready to download so theres no waiting around at all.If your into rockers, and hot ones at that, this series is for you !!!!

okay as we know this is the second book in the series! So this book literally starts off where book one ends with Victory after sleeping in her car. Yeah you know why she's in her car if you've read book one! Her EX Scott that's why! Ugh still now even thinking of him makes my blood boil. SO Are girl is hitting rock bottom and hitting it hard. Or close enough anyways. She is Bandless, penniless, homeless and has jus been dumped! Yeeeeah things aren't looking good right now. But HEY she still has her job! Its not where she belongs as Victory belongs on the stage but its around Music and HEY beggers can't be choosers right? WELL it is in this job in a music shop that she meets someone.....Someone named Julian.....God I know I shouldn't like him because I'm all GO TEAM KELLAN! But come on, I'm a girl and I'm only human. I blame Devon! Yep that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Well Julian come's into the shop looking for a certain Guitar but get waaaaay more then he bargained for when he sets his sights on Victory. They banter back and forth, but he's obviously not wanting to not see her again. BECAUSE even after dropping 30,000 dollars on this AMAZEBALLS Guitar he pays extra just so she will deliver it to his house, soooo he can see her again! Yep he's a sly dog this Julian LOL!But little does Victory know that in going to money bags house her life could be forever changed. Well I hope it is, and I hope is a good way because if anyone needs a visit from lady luck its our girl. She has so much bad luck in this book she should really consider having a bath in holy water in book 3 LOL! BUT Where kellan I here you asking....Well don't worry he's still here. And he's still as sinful as ever! Devon wouldn't be that evil to make us love him then yank him away. And this whole Julian thing I liked. What's wrong with some healthy competition......As like part one. The only problem I have with this book is that I don't have book three on my kindle ready and waiting for me LOL!

This series is really good so far ,,, this is book 2 ,,, I'm hooked ,,, loving the characters ,,, loving the story ,,, loving that I've not been able to work out too much of the story yet either ,,, I prefer it when things aren't completely clear ,,, I like the guessing game ,,, the not knowing about Victorys singing issues ,,, the not knowing about Kellans past ,,, makes a stronger holdLet me just tell you though I really do not envy Victory right now ,,, if you ever think your having a bad day or got heaps of bad luck just check this girl out ,,, if it can go wrong it will ,,, if things look like they might be getting better they probably won't be ,,, she must seriously have the worst luck EVER ,,, although by the end of this book you'll hope that her luck is beginning to change ,,, I love how strong she is ,,, at her lowest point in her life yet she is still moving forwards ,,, things get to her granted but she won't let it beat her ,,, ohh and she has some pretty hot viewing going on right about now too :)Kellan is your typical guy that's hot and knows it ,,, wanting no more than sex and getting just that ,,, it's screaming out ,,, like a flashing neon light above his head ,,, girls flock to his side like he is a god ,,, well all but one that is ,,, he knows she is attracted to him but she's not acting on it ,,, but for the first time in a long time neither is he ,,, they have a connection ,,, especially through their music ,,, still without her number will they meet again? Who knowsI'm loving Devon's writing style and the character Dubs,,, the things he comes out with are just too funny ,,, there are serious sides to this read but there is plenty of humour to it too Highly recommend this read people ,,, enjoy :)

following on from victory run 1 where as you know victory had been kicked out of the band, dumped by her boyfriend/lead singer Scott ( oh how I hate him) and lost the roof over her head. The story follows Victory as she has no money, no where to live and is still heart broken from everything being thrown at her. Victory runs into Kellan and sparks fly between the two of them, Kellan knows Victory has been sleeping in her car and offers her the couch but the attraction between them keeps Victory from easy sleep. They start to jam together and there are ideas and talks between where they could lead in future.Victory has a part time job in a guitar shop, when Julian walks through the front door of the shop and purchases a $30,000 guitar then he wants it delivering to his home. Julian has a offer that Victory considers as her future is looking glum but this maybe the start of her new life.Victory is trying to sort her life out and not rebound but all these handsome men are coming into her life and she finds she needs to remove herself out of Kellans home and move in with her employers in order to get things straight enough to get her own place and set her future.Devon has done yet another fantastic job on this story after following victory run 1 I have laughed at Dubs and his slang but also felt for Victory.cant wait for run 3 now so I know where life has taken Victory and which road she will choose to follow

I received a copy of this story to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here it is. Victory Payne has had the worst night of her life or so she thought. She was dumped by her boyfriend and kicked out of the band, now she finds herself sleeping in her car. When she wakes up, she has a really bad pain in her neck for the way she had to sleep. So she takes a walk to work out the kinks and when she gets back to her car, it has been broken in to. Things stolen including her fathers guitar. What is she gonna do now? When she gets to work and tells her bosses what happened, they offer her a guitar to busk and get her some cash. While she is playing she sees Kellan and one of his many femme flakes. When Kellan talks to her the blonde gets agitated and wants to leave. When Victory is packing up, there are some kids on skateboards playing around her. When she gets knocked over and lands on her borrowed guitar, it is smashed too. Can Victory ever get a break? Will she see Kellan again. There is such a chemistry between them but Victory is not ready for a rebound relationship. She needs to clear her head and figure out what she is gonna do. Will Kellan find her again? This story had drawn me in from the very beginning and I am about to start part 3.

OK HERE WE GO !!! now its grabbing me. I really enjoyed book 2. Im totally getting hooked on Victory and Kellan now and I really like the side characters. Now I’m starting to see Victory as talented, stubborn and strong and since she is way down on her luck and fighting for what she wants out of life and rock and roll, it’s no longer just a pain in the butt woman being, well a pain in the butt ….. it’s a talented guitarist fighting to be able to show her talent and enjoy what she is doing in the process. She has no money, no place to live and is very heartbroken with everything that happened with her a**hole boyfriend and her band. Kellan offers her a place to sleep on his couch and that leads to them jamming together and the attraction between them growing. In walks Julian into the guitar store Victory works at part time. Well I don’t want to give spoilers but I’ll just say, I do not like Julian and I don’t trust him but I’ll have to wait to see how thing transpire. Kellan is arrogant but he’s definitely growing on me so with that, makes me really really not like Julian. I am so glad I decided to continue this novella series because I really loved book 2 and I’m thinking book 3 is going to be fantastic. This book, as was book 1 is well written and the grammar and spelling are exceptionalI am absolutely moving on to book 3

Holy ...I love Victory! I want her to make Kellan happy but Julian just intrigues me so much. It not romance it's a rocker`s book LOL Well well I learned a lot in this book. DONT call he VIC for the love of all that is holy her name is Victory! This moves on with Victory and Kellan. There is a lot to love about this character's perseverance. When I say anything that can happen to her in a bad way does, I mean it. I was so happy for her and then bam another major twist. It was almost painful to read it at times. Another love of the book was how serious Kellan and Victory were about their art forms. They both simply live to share their music. It was such an accomplishment to be asked to perform at a huge event and I was stressed just reading it. When the contest comes up and maybe Victory and/or Kellan can win a major cash prize I was so screaming win win win.Yes I have another love of this series. When bad things happen, and they do, the author lightens things up with talks of tantric sex. When Victory goes to stay with her bosses and goes through their nightly routine I can almost pee my pants laughing at their dialogue. BRAVO Let's just say this was a fab book. For me and all the ladies out there ROCK on and write more Devon we love u

4.5 Stars This part of the new novella series from the very talented Devon Hartford picks up where part 1 finished.Victory is already down on her luck, having being kicked out of her band - skin trade and losing her ass of a boyfriend all in one night, things have got to get better - right ? .......wrong things continued to go from bad to worse, making my feel absolutely heartbroken for this poor girl. What I like about the character of Victory is she never let anything get her down, she just dealt with every blow life dealt with dignity, making this book a pleasure to read ! And don't forget old brown eyes Kellan is back too, and boy is he sexy, I fell in love with him a whole load more ! Devon is an amazing story teller, drawing the reader in with his obvious passion for guitar playing and all that is attached to that subject. The only down side is the lack of sex in this book ( that makes me sound bad ) but there is so much sexual tension in this book I was gagging for them to do the 'deed' but believe me the story more than makes up for the lack of sexy time ! I can't wait to find out what happens next with Victory, Kellan and JuilanI want her to end up rocking the world.

Book: Victory Run 2 (The Story of Victory Payne #2)Author: Devon Hartford Publication Date: 6/2014Reviewed by: Tammy Payne- Book Nook Nuts My Rating: 5 Stars REVIEW This is the 2nd book in Victory Run and it picks right up where book 1 left off. Victory has gone through hell since being kicked out of her band. Kellan is still pursuing her and wow is he ever so sweet but Victory just doesn’t want to be involved right now or does she? Then bring on mysterious Julian whom comes into the music store where Victory works and whops out cash for a $ 30,000 plus guitar and now he has his eyes on Victory.I don’t know where the story is headed and I really want to know if Victory falls in love with either of these hot fella’s who are truly wanting her. I sure hope she gets a happy ending. I will have to wait for the next book to find out !! I liked how book 2 got more in depth with the characters. I learned a bit more about them so that helps a lot. Again the story is well written. Thanks Devon Hartford for leaving me hanging but assuring I will be grabbing book #3. LOVED this one !!!

4.5 stars Reviewed on behalf of Give Me BooksVictory wakes up in her car parked in the Hollywood hills, with no home, no band, and no boyfriend. Things seem to be going bad for Victory on the fast track to total destruction. She takes a short walk to get the kinks out of her sore body, and her car gets broken into. All she cares about has been taken; her most prized possessions, her guitar and amp.Kellan, after meeting Victory, is infatuated with her – and not just her guitar playing. She is on his mind, even as he dates the airheads who continually throw themselves at him. They have a chance meeting at an outdoor mall, and he takes her home so she doesn’t have to spend the night in her car. While the drama unfolds you really get a new perspective on who they really are. They both have pasts that hold them back from pursuing each other. They are frustrating as hell but, above all, they are real. I could easily relate with Victory even though we have nothing in common. Kellen is full of himself, but I am fairly certain most men think the way he does. Again, part 2 is short, but worth the read!

Again what privilege. Book 2 is as good as book 1. Can't wait for book 3. Devon's research into specialist guitars is outstanding as well as his knowledge of guitar players who have made it big. Here's hoping Victory makes it with her gift. Victory's story is quite sad and I couldn't help tearing, this poor girl attracts disaster. Although the foreshadowing gets the readers hope up and you realise that some good has come to her. This book also allows the reader to glimpse hope through the characters that do good and help asking nothing in return. Another reason to read book 3 and hopefully I'mright, is that I'll eventually find out why she won't sing. Intriguing, throughout book 1 and 2 foreshadowing occurs in the form of Victory'sthought process, as she often speaks to herself in her mind ( I won't sing, I can't sing). I wonder why? I'll have to read book 3!!!While this is ultimately a love story, who does Victory actually fall in love with? Her attraction to Kellan is like a tinder box waiting to catch fire. What about Julian? Is he her next beau? I'm rooting for Kellan. Honestly Devon writes awesome stories, I'm always waiting to read his new material.

Reviewer: Donna Rating: 4 Stars**Copy received from author in exchange for an honest review**I really loved Victory Run 2 from start to finish. I loved that it continued on from Victor Run 1 and the story is really good and full of drama. I feel so sorry for Victory because so many things go wrong for her and living out of her car after being kicked out of her band. Victory Run 1 was slow to get started but this book was pure class. Loved the whole thing from start to finish and i can not wait for Victory Run 3. I have to find out what happens next. See, i told you it's left me wanting more! Victory is an awesome character and i love how talented she is even though her life isn't going quite to plan. Kellan is a confusing guy and i'm not quite sure what is happening with him or his friendship/relationship is with Victory. It's kept me guessing for sure. Brilliant Second book, now bring on Victory Run 3!!

Victory RUN 2It's obvious that Devon has background in music. You cannot get this kind of guitar knowledge from research. He not only knows music but he knows guitar and plays it. Even for someone like me, who never played guitar, but loves this particular instrument, it's pleasure to read story of Victory and especially those moments when she plays. I have just one wish. More in depth descriptions of what she, or Kellan, feel when she/they play. More about what music is for them, not music, only but especially guitar music. I personally recognize bands by guitar players. There has to be something VERY special about those that are guitar masters to be recognizable by others just by playing few chords. I would like to read in Devon's book what that "IT" factor is because it looks like both Victory and Kellan have it. I have one more kind of complaint - did it have to be that short? I just immerse myself in reading and it's the end. Seriously.... I want more!!!

I was gifted this copy to beta read and for an honest opinion.I am enjoying reading about Victory and Kellan's story. This book continues on from the first starting at Chapter 26, so don't get worried if you think you've lost the first part!! lol Victory is still suffering from bad luck at the moment, living out of her car, having her guitar stolen etc she really needs a break! I like the dual POV and the humour as usual from Devon has me laughing out loud! You can feel the attraction between Kellan and Victory but because of his reputation and her recent break up she is determined not to act on it. Kellan would love to act on it but is treating her very differently compared to how he does his usual 'hook ups'. Their story is slowly unfolding, sometimes I thought a few parts were a bit slow but I am genuinely loving it and can't wait for book 3!!

Victory Payne is having a really bad day. First she gets kicked out of her band Skin Trade. Then her boyfriend of 2 years and lead singer of the band breaks up with her. Then Kellan Burns offers to help. Does she go with him or take her chances on the street in her car. Then things change. But at what cost?from the way book one ended I was eager to start book two. I was hooked from the very beginning. I really enjoy the famous guitar players. I’m a huge music lover (who isn’t) and I I like that I know exactly who he’s talking about. I also like that this book takes place exactly where book 1 left off. You don’t miss a thing. This book is just like book 1 with the descriptiveness Once again you’ll be clicking download to get book three.. I would highly recommend this book.

First I have to say that I love Devon's writing. He has his own way of making you love and hate characters that you don't always get with other authors. Victory Run is all about Victory Payne and her quest to be the baddest guitar bitch out there. No matter how many obstacles get thrown in her way, she is bound and determined to make it on her own terms. No one will ever tell Victory she can't do it without her wanting to prove them wrong. However, Kellan is a pretty boy whose dream is to make it big with a band. Will he ever be able to convince Victory that they aren't meant to form a band?!? I loved all three of these books and I can't wait to read more.

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."This is the second book in the series and you need to read book 1 to get the full picture. This novella deals with Victory's struggle after she has been chucked out of Scott's band, life and flat. There are some lovely cameos, and fun scenes, but somehow nothing much happened, which was frustrating. I am hoping book 3 brings it all together.

Devon, please don't tease. We're on the edge of our seats here!!With immediate effect, we want more! Although I won't cope well with this coming to an end. Devon's characters always claim a place in our hearts and victory is no exception. Victory is so overdue a break. Kama definitely has to be on the cards for book 3. With the devastation of the night before, we pick up exactly where we left off, Victory's car. Post band, post boyfriend/ lead singer and post Kellan. Life gives with one hand and takes away with the other. You will find yourself shouting at Victory's rotten luck in this book and hoping for some balance and an ambiance of serendipity.

What can I say my saturdays of getting anything done are long gone - well until the final part of the series anyway. The addictive compulsion to finish is only lessoned by the need for it not to end - Oh Kellan, carpe diem! before she moves on! And is it me or is Julian a too good to be true fairy god hottie? I think so run victory RUN :-) preferably right into Kellan's arms so you can rock the world together and make scott wish he wasn't so much of an all about me ass! Buy and read victory run 2 now - well after part 1 that is, you won't be disappointed I guarantee

I am getting more and more into these books. Can't wait for the final one. I am loving the strong characters, the humor, and the great story line. Kellan is the heart throb every girls wishes she could turn into a one girl kind of guy. I know I wish he was mine. Victory is strong, stubborn, and talented. Loved the whole rocker scene. I'm so use to writers going all off in left field trying to come up with something different, that the rock and roll thing made me very happy. The author definitely knows his stuff.

Victory Run 2 was just as phenomenal as the first book. Devon Hartford is an amazing author. I am so impressed with the original story line and the depth of the characters in this series. I absolutely adore Kellan and Victory. Their chemistry, both romantically and musically, is off the charts! Victory is determined to make her dreams a reality on her terms. Who wouldn't admire that?? I can only imagine that book 3 with be equally as amazing as the first two. I can't wait!!

Not sure how I feel about book 2, it's as usual well written, it keeps your focus and interest and I still feel like a week for book 3 and the end of the story is an eternity to wait, but I can't help but think that nothing much happened in this book. I suspect my impatience is getting the better of me and Devon has actually done what he does best; by using the book to set the scene for the grand finale! I guess I'll let you know this time next week, when I've read book 3 ;)

I love this book..Kellan is so sweet and poor Victory, she's so cautious about getting into another relationship. I love her though and is so looking forward to the next book. Devon Hartford knows his stuff. I love reading his stories. It's so refreshing to have a male romance author, who really writes from a male point of view. It's so different and I love being inside Kellan's head.Great job.

I enjoyed this book. It was better than the first part. Perhaps because Kellan is more 'normal' and less god self centered. Anyway... I would like to know the story about the not singing thing. Time to get that sorted out. And my heart broke on those shattered & stolen guitars. Waiting for part 3 !
