The Ending Beginnings: Jake Reviews
The Ending Beginnings: Jake is #0.4 in the The Ending series of prequel novellas by Lindsey Fairley and Lindsey Pogue. In this one we meet Jake. Jake and his little sister Becca have finally really settled down. He bought a house and is giving his little sister a stable life so she can go to nursing school. But then she got sick. He has no idea what is going on in the outside world since he’s been trying to take care of his sister. But when he finally calls his best friend, Gabe, for help, he is betrayed in the worst way possible. At the same time, he himself is getting sick. A few days later, he wakes up on the floor in the house to a nightmare. Jake wants to get Gabe back for what he did. So he and his husky dog, Cooper, jump in the jeep to find him. But where is everyone? Why are the streets so empty? This is a very short introduction to a new character. As Jake and Cooper venture out into the city, he is thrust into a world completely changed from the one he left just a few days ago. Again, this novella was just a taste and left me wanting more, more, more! I can’t wait to find out more of Jake’s story.
Loved!!! (but aren't you used to me saying that after every Ending book?)Buuuuuut, it's. way. too. short!!I know, I know. It's supposed to be that way, since it's only a prequel sort of novella, and not an actual life story of Jake (although, I wouldn't mind one of those, tee hee!)Waiting patiently (sort of!) for Clara's back story now, and to see exactly how she ties in with Jake and what happens to Kyle, etc., etc., etc... Sigh. :)
These novellas are doing an amazing job satiating me until the next book comes out.Jake is one character in the After The Ending series that I continue to be super intrigued about (and, let's be honest, swoon after) and this book helps to answer some questions I had on him. Another great read for the series!
I would have liked to have had more of the back story on Jake.Perhaps more questions will be answered in Jake & Clair when it comes out.
Jake’s story. It takes place during about a week's time and is a little understandably chaotic. The ending is a 'to be continued' probably with Jake & Clara's story. After calling Gabe to help him deal with Becca being sick, Jake wakes up on a bloody floor and finds both of them gone. His determination to find out what happen leads him through a war-torn, empty Colorado Springs where life has been mostly snuffed out. Fave scene: Jake’s flashback to their first foster father Joe.
Ugh! What happened at the hospital?!I have one teeny, tiny complaint about this book. I found a lot of spelling mistakes in this one! Not trying to be the grammar police, but still.
I NEED to know more about Jake and what happened to Becca :O
Didn't like this one as much as 'Carlos' - too many enigmatic and weird things happening to Jake (heading towards paranormal, which I don't like).
