It's been over a year since the catastrophic events following the Vharyien Races, and the Fae Thalam rebellion seems to be cruising along just fine, apart from a few bumps and bruises and management issues. But things start to turn sour very quickly when the assassin Arran Heyri unleashes hundreds of hellish monsters to keep the mages busy--even bringing back an old enemy only Josh seems able to counteract. And if that wasn't enough, Josh's life back on Earth just keeps getting messier and messier as his parents plan on separating. If he can't find a way to keep being the glue for their little group, their enemies might actually get a step ahead of them, and Josh knows he can't let that happen if he wants to protect his friends. Meanwhile, Heyri finds himself with problems of his own. Mainly, finding a replacement bounty hunter, handling the Registrar and the elusive Nerovian family, finding a way to kill the mages, thwarting the Ienothin Vigilante, and helping the Inperiate uncover whichever ducal family has betrayed them. Which is a lot more trouble than it sounds. Things are about to take a darker turn in Nyrïach...and it's possible neither side of the war is prepared for what's to come....

WHY DID IT HAVE TO END THIS WAY? WHY?! WHY?????Seriously Olsoune, you SADIST...Making this the most awesome Nyriach book yet, seriously, THE BEST, and then ending it like....like that? And making me wait for next year to continue? You ass.And I'm saying that AS a reader AND your best friend. I'll beat you up later when we are in person again....Sigh I mean, I guess you made up all the angst by having a LOT of Heyri action. I mean, dude, you know how IN LOVE I am with the sick psycho, and you just...kept handing me cake after cake, with him in avery other chapter or so. Seriously, it's like you WANT to fatten me up on my lover only to like, destroy it later, don't you? DON'T YOU??Wicked lady. He's MINE, which means YOU CAN'T TOUCH HIM. He's MINE.But anyways...this book. Seriously, the BEST book Olsoune has come out with YET. At least in the Nyriach realm. We get to read it from Josh's point of view....which makes it the fastest, simple, absolutely hysterical yet deep with intrigue book of the series yet. Seriously, do NOT read this book in public. You WILL laugh out loud, and you WILL get strange looks from random people. And then you WILL be obligated to tell them how awesome the book is and that they NEED TO BUY IT RIGHT THEN AND THERE. You might even feel obligated to steal their phone, hack into their Amazon account and buy it for them.... And then you COULD like, mention that THEY don't have a signed copy like I do...but...then again, you could not, cuz maybe like, you aren't insane. Maybe. She should hire me as a sales rep. I won't be THAT aggressive...swear...But I digress (again), this book. THIS BOOK!We meet some new awesome characters (Greg the Frog...And Krietenna, who by the way, have I mentioned is sort of based off me? Krietenna, not the Frog), and then some new parties with previous awesome characters, like Arran Heyri. And like, the mages too, I guess. But guys, ARRAN HEYRI!The plot was a bit better, like it moved along at a better speed, I personally thought, and despite ALL THE POLITICAL ANGLES THAT OLSOUNE INVENTED (no wonder she's going into economical science or whatever), I was able to keep up with it. Probably had something to do with reading it all from Josh's POV, but. Characters finally seemed to be growing up. Adrienne was a little less whiny, Colin was a bit less...egotistical, and Vi was just good 'ole Vi. Then again, the lovely ladies were stuck in Frengar for quite some time, so that probably helped...I mean, I know they are important, but if you aren't Arran Heyri or Josh, I just...don't care about you as much.Unless you're dealing with Arran Heyri. Then I care a LOT. But...not on the side you think care about...Cough. The side plots were excellent as well. She seems to have a thing with S names and making them evil or weird. Sceoria...Sting...Cevil Nameis...Pronounced like an S, I guess...Still, she added a whole new cast of crazy Impereite puppets, and this makes me happy. Very happy. But that ending...that ENDING. Everything was GREAT UNTIL THAT ENDING!I mean, was we learn more about Notus? Maybe we LIKED his mysterious-ness. Maybe we LIKED the enigma of him and MAYBE just MAYBE we didn't WANT TO KNOW HIS PAST. MAYBE WE WERE OK WITH HIM BEING MESSED UP BUT NOT KNOWING WHY.I mean, really, Olsoune? Why must you all stab our hearts? Just...just stab us like that, you evil, EVIL person, you...You...WORDS DON'T COVER HOW UPSET I AM AT YOU.But...I mean despite the sad SAD ending, you just HAD to add that...little scene...in the end. YOU COULDN'T JUST LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE, COULD YOU???I think I hate you right now. Leaving a cliff hanger like that? There are special places in hell for people who write endings like that. There just ARE. And that is where you are going. That ending you wrote was totally your one way ticket. I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT DOWN THERE. Making me wait...GRRR!But seriously folks, this book deserves like, 12 stars, not some measly 5, but whatever, gotta stick to the formatting of the template here...Sigh. Well done Olsoune. For writing it in 20 days, I didn't expect it to be THAT good. Now finish Aquavit in less. While in cliff hanger hell. Kay? Good girl. #Heyri4Eva
