Sophie Miller has lost her job as a paramedic. With her mother ill, she packs up for Montana to be with her and her sister. At the local carnival one night with her sister and nephew, she meets Tucker Haywood from the Paint River Ranch. Their immediate attraction leads to a one night stand. This is the second book I've read by Elizabeth Otto and I really like her writing a lot. I'm not a big fan of one-night stands, but this author writes so well, it's easy to overlook. Both protagonists are really likable, but not perfect. Tucker especially, is stubborn, impatient and a bit selfish.I would have enjoyed seeing a bit more of an emotional connection as to why they fell in love, and not just the inventive, sexual trysts. And also more about their backgrounds, especially Tucker's reluctance to getting involved. But a great read with plenty of humour. If you enjoy contemporary cowboy romances, steamy reads, and well-written stories with great touches of humour, give this author a shot. Looking forward to the next brother, Levi's story.Steam: 3.5

4.5 - "Fifi" & "Farm Boy" Stars.I am not ashamed to admit that I had extremely high expectations for Elizabeth Otto’s writing when I started reading One Night With A Cowboy. Having literally just finished Tempting The Cowboy, (book one in this series) and falling in love with Cole, Birdie, Rylan and Paint River Ranch in general. Being lucky enough to jump right into Tucker’s story was a temptation, I could not resist.Elizabeth certainly knows how to put a well rounded, emotionally developed character together. Both Sophie and Tucker are looking for something more from their lives, but neither of them realise what it is they are actually looking for. For Tucker his life so far has revolved around three things –Watching. Protecting. Supporting. His family and Paint River ranch are the priority, and the women who keep him company know to only ever expect one night of no-strings fun with him. This routine has served Tucker well for the last 2 years no emotional entanglements or messy break-ups to deal with, but the need for change has slowly crept up on him. She’d been fire and silk and comfort and passion in his arms, and for the first time he could recall, Tucker didn’t want it to end.Sophie is just trying to keep her head above water. What with the loss of her job, and the crippling debt that is building up in respect of her ailing mothers care and a less than supportive sister, one night of no-strings sex with Mr. Sex in Jeans, is a chance for a much needed escape for a few hours, from her life, and it’s an offer she can’t refuse.Tucker was a hot-cowboy cocktail and she wanted a narrow straw so she could enjoy him, and the buzz, as long as possible. So this all sounds fairly run-of-the-mill on the surface, and I snuggled down on my sofa expecting to be highly entertained for a few hours with a hot cowboy.How. Wrong. I. Was.”I’ve learned to live with not fair, Sophie. But I’ve also learned that you can’t take what's not there. Are you saying there’s nothing inside you for me?” ...Love ran deep, even if it meant an imperfect ending.Elizabeth Otto broke my heart last night. I wasn’t prepared for the story I was given, it was so much more, and bearing in mind I had high expectations in the first place I really have nowhere to go from here. I am not one for overly-angsty books, in fact it gets on my nerves after a while, but what hit home so closely for me was the realness of the situation that Tucker & Sophie found themselves in. I can relate to feeling that you have ‘no other option’ and also being ‘unworthy or not good enough’ and that made it an even more emotional ride for me because of it.That-said although the themes of this story at times err on the side of serious, I cannot commend Elizabeth highly enough for the dual POV she provided for Tucker and Sophie. Both of them on more than one occasion had me in fits of laughter, as did their flirty banter... The running commentary in Tucker’s head at times was downright hilarious, especially when catching Sophie in action at the ‘Tit For Tap’.The sex was to be blunt, hot, dirty and verrrrryyyy original. I have been taken by surprise with both books in this series with regards to the freshness the author adds to this element.”I don't do gentle.” He missed her. He wanted her to go away. He wanted to pull her closer and, holy hell, he wanted her next to him every day, and every night, and he had no earthly idea how to begin to process that. One Night With A Cowboy delivered, Elizabeth Otto delivered. I am impressed, awed, emotionally wrung out and desperate for more. Levi is up next, and I cannot wait!!! I am hoping Jaxon is given his own book as well as I don't want to leave Paint River ranch behind.~ Fly away, Violet ~ARC provided by Entangled via Netgalley, and it is my absolute pleasure to provide the above honest review.

Love me some HOT cowboy. I loved Tucker's story. This full of emotions, sexy times, and irresistible cowboy. I could say that I liked this more than the first book. It was predictable though but with intriguing characters. Tucker and Sophie both has an issue. Tucker being douche believing he is not capable of being a good man to anybody. While he was a opposite of it. He took care of his family, ranch, and friends. Sophie was little lost, being jobless and nowhere to go, sick mother and all, she is in total mess. The chemistry of Tucker and Sophie is undeniable. Though both of them fighting their feelings. This is fast pace story. This is emotional roller coaster. I laugh, cry, and get angry. The writing was good. Elizabeth Otto is now in my favorite list author. She knew how to entertain her reader. The Haywood brother are now becoming my favorites. Can't wait for Levi's story.

Tucker is a big ole' softie when it comes to Sophie, "honey, anything you want to do with my mouth is fine by me," he drawled giving her a once over that he wouldn't have been able to avoid if he'd tried." The boy doesn't really think when Sophie is around him, well he does but only about one thing, "Tucker grabbed her hips and drew her roughly against him, "I'm pretty sure you know what we're doing." I liked his sense of humor, "Tucker turned away to grab Pana's reins. "You got something to say to me, woman?" He cocked his head with a glimmer of a grin." I really loved how when Sophie is around the boy wants to make her feel good, "I could take you right here, Fifi." He pulled her down harder against his crotch. "Just like this, baby. Hot and fast." I love me some cowboys and I loved me some Tucker.

Rating -4 stars★Review★I have to admit this was - different to what I was expecting!I expected a hot and scorching, light read with the guaranteed happy ending. What is was, was a rather heartfelt emotional packs a punch tale, of two people, finding each other, at the wrong time in their lives, especially for Sophie, and even had me doubting that HEA.That is not say I did not enjoy it, I did very much so, but there was something more than what I expected.Sophie and Tucker meet, in Sophie's first week in Missoula, Montana, and have what is meant to be one night only together, and are both determined for it to only ever be that. Yet, when they meet again, unplanned, that one night turned into another and another. Neither want or feel able at that time to have a relationship. I really liked both Sophie and Tucker, and there was something rather more honest, raw, heartfelt and real about their story. Certainly as I say, more than I expected. It was a beautiful, at times sad story and I really enjoyed it.The only complaint I would have is that it ended rather abruptly.(view spoiler)[ I wanted more from them at the end, after the "I Love You" after all that had gone on, battling their own demons and circumstances, I feel the story could have benefited from more of them together as a couple, an epilogue maybe. A complimentary copy provided by Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review Amazon Buy link--->> One Night with a Cowboy (Paint River Ranch) (Entangled Indulgence) ~~ 4 "Hot cowboy" Stars ~~ This book is the second book in this series by Elizabeth Otto, but this is the first book I have read by this Author.  I will say that after reading this book, I'm definitely going back to read Book 1, which is Cole's Story.  I thought this was a great book.  It just made me realize how much I love a cowboy as a Hero.  I thought the storyline was fun and engaging.  This book will make you feel a lot of different emotions.  I laughed, blushed, swooned, giggled, got angry and even cried (I wasn't expecting that emotion...lol). I thought the pace and flow of the story was really good.  I did think that the characters could've been developed a little more....I didn't feel like we got to know enough about Tucker and Sophie.  With that said this book was still quite enjoyable.  What I really liked about this book was that there wasn't an over abundance of drama.  I honestly thought a couple places there was going to be trouble but I'm glad I was wrong.  The only drama in this story is brought on by the main characters.  Talk about 2 extremely stubborn people. This story is about two people who meet at a carnival and are supposed to just have a one night stand to pass the time and be each other's distraction.  Well nothing is that simple or goes according to plan.  As Tucker and Sophie spend more time together they realize they have deeper feelings but being that they are both stubborn and think they don't deserve or have time for love...they put up walls and don't want to face what is truly happening.  I was happy that Sophie finally opened up to Tucker about what was weighing her down, but I do wish we would've seen Tucker open up to her more and explain about his past.  I really liked both Tucker and Sophie.  I thought they were both very strong and passionate characters.  Both had the weight of the world on their shoulders.  It was fun watching these two open up to their feelings and finally break down their walls. There really weren't any standout secondary characters...this really did focus on Tucker and Sophie.  Now I know this is part of a series, but I truly believe they can all be read as standalones.  This was my first one and I didn't feel like I missed anything by not reading the first book.  With that said, I enjoyed this one so much I will read the rest of the series :)So if your looking for that sweet cowboy love story that will tap into many different emotions, then this is the book for you!!For more reviews go to Book Bitches Blog

One Night with a Cowboy has it all. Elizabeth Otto has brought us a beautifully crafted addition to her Paint River Ranch series; I adored it and Tucker Haywood has stolen my heart.Sophie Miller has temporarily left city life behind and moved to the country to help her sister care for her ailing mother. Jobless and penniless, a relationship is the last thing on her mind. I loved her and despite all the difficulties she is facing she's snippy, feisty, funny and kind lady. Tucker is manning the fort at Paint River Ranch whilst Cole is away with his family. Brooding, stubborn and protective, the man oozes sexy and just has a presence. I swooned myself silly as not only he is exceptionally inventive on locations for horizontal/vertical activities (who needs a bed) he also has the most amazing way with words;“My move includes finding a soft place to lay you down, getting rid of this dress and kissing your body until you scream yourself hoarse.”Go for it cowboy. I don’t need my voice. With no intention of settling down, Tuck is a one-night-only man and a lover of a challenge. But when a beautiful woman falls at his feet after escaping a carnival ride, there's instant chemistry; despite Sophie fighting to prevent herself from puking on his boots. It’s a wonderfully passionate, sexy, heartfelt journey of discovery and with humour balanced with moments that made my heart ache, I felt every emotion Sophie and Tucker experienced. Their banter made me smile, their intimacy made my heart (and other places) flutter and when a book does this to me……well I know I’ve found one that I will read time and time again.Cole and Tucker have set the bar high and I can’t wait to see how youngest Haywood brother Levi’s story turns out. A book and a series I can’t recommend highly enough.I received a copy of this courtesy of Entangled Publishing for an honest & unbiased opinion

**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for an honest review**I do love a sexy cowboy, and while Cole's story was good as the first in this series, book two was even better. I LOVED Tucker's story. The emotion between the two really gripped me and I couldn't help but turn to the next page to see what was going to happen next. The chemistry between the two was explosive and you could see the struggle with Tucker and Sophie really had him changing the way that he would normally behave with a woman.Instead of a normal one-night stand where he never saw her again, he could n't but go back for more and more. The timing for Sophie couldn't be more wrong however, with her beloved mother dying in a hospice and on tenterhooks with a sister that she had never really gotten on with her live is falling apart. Having also lost her job recently as a paramedic she is broke and struggling to help her sister pay the medical bills. Both experience pain and conflicted emotions, opening up to each other in a way there haven't done before. I did have a case of tears streaming a good few times thanks to the dialogue sucking me in and taking me on a roller coaster.I really look forward to reading Cole's story.

This second book in the Paint River Ranch series treats us to the story of Sophie, in town temporarily to help ease the passing of her dying mother and Tucker, a ranch owner whose responsibilities leave him no time for relationships. A chance meeting, an explosive one night stand, and two people who decide they are willing to embark on a sexual relationship - as long as no deeper feelings are involved.I found this book to be an excellent mix of tender emotions and steamy heat. The chemistry between Tucker and Sophie is off the charts and the author knows how to create dynamic sexual tension from the very beginning of the story. Alternating points of view however give emotional depth to the novel. Sophie's fragile relationship with her sister and her feelings of inadequacy as she prepares for the loss of her mother are well examined and portrayed. Her reluctance to share her innermost self with Tucker is believable as she fights internally with these feelings. In Tucker's viewpoint we feel his struggle to maintain control over his emotions as the important people in his life - his brother and his mother reach for their own happy endings, one he's denied himself by engaging in meaningless one night stands. His stoicism on the outside is revealed deftly to the reader to be a mask for his true internal passions and the unwanted surfacing of real feelings for Sophie. The struggles Sophie and Tucker endure in masking their growing emotions are well written and engage the reader in an emotional investment towards a happy resolution for the couple. The author takes the reader on a journey of laughter and tears with this thoughtful, emotionally heartwarming tale complete with a wholly satisfactory conclusion. The Haywood brothers have found a place in my heart, and here's hoping that Paint River Ranch will be the site of more romantic escapades in the future. Highly recommended, 5 stars!

I think I approached this book much like Sophie approached her "one night" with cowboy Tucker -- looking for a light-hearted good time. And I came out if having flipped pages eagerly, my heart in my mouth and tears in my eyes. I loved this book. The first in the series -- Tempting the Cowboy -- made me realize that I have a thing for cowboys. But this book made me realize that I will probably never forget THIS cowboy. Tucker. Wow. Otto has painted the perfect hero for me -- strong, masculine, even a little arrogant... but fiercely protective of those he loves and with a big ole soft heart that even he doesn't know is in there. She painted this character so perfectly that I could see him, practically hear his voice. I think I might be in love with him, actually. And Sophie? Well, I liked her too, even though she was the one who got to be with Tucker. ;) Enthusiastically recommended for a well-told love story with a happy ending but lots of drama and tension in all the right places.

Great beginning between Tucker and Sophie. Great background on Sophie and I liked her instantly. Love her with Tucker. However, somewhere in the middle of the book they spent so much time thinking about each other, I didn't really get much of a sense of them together. Then...what was that with the last few pages of the book? Quite awkward. I'm a fan of a solid book ending and I didn't feel like I got one here.

Life is precious and it shouldn’t be wasted in self-pity, loathing or believing that you may be an asshat because of what happened as a child. When a loved one is on their death bed it’s best to embrace them while you have them not feel guilty because you haven’t been there for them like you should have. Everything that is meant to be will come together at the end.One Night with a Cowboy was an emotional read that brought up so many emotions that I didn’t want brought up. I really dislike when a character believes that because one of their parents was a real asshat that they were verbally and emotionally abuse that they are too. That is something that I have a hard time with because it happens so much in real life. People believe because they were abused physically or emotionally that they don’t deserve to be happy because they will do the same thing to their significant other. Then there is the other character that feels guilty because when she walks out of her mother’s room she doesn’t want to return. It’s so hard to see such a strong woman she weak. They both have issues that they need to work on but when they both fight the feelings they have for each other it just makes it worse, they need to embrace what they feel for each other and that will heal them. They need to just love each other and embrace love because everyone deserves to love.Tucker Ian Haywood is one sexy cowboy and that cover doesn’t do justice. He has been living his life as a playboy but one look at a woman on a carnival ride was his undoing. Sophie Miller is in Missoula, Montana because her mother had gotten worse from her accident. Her she was at the carnival with her wicked sister and her wonderful nephew but she was not doing so well. She was on a carnival ride and it was getting her sick, motion sickness was not fun and she was afraid that she was going to end up vomiting on her nephews lap. Only she found a good focal point and it was this sexy cowboy but when she got off the ride he disappeared. Tucker noticed her noticing him but when she almost fell at his feet he couldn’t resist. She knew that she shouldn’t be doing this but he was to sexy not to follow him to a trailer with hay. There they both experienced something wonderful but he didn’t see the same woman twice and she needed to care for her mother. Sophie had been given something wonderful, a vacation in a small cabin at some “farm.” Only that when she notices one cowboy she knows that whatever is on the brochure of this getaway they are all liars, how is she supposed to relax when the devil himself has shown up at her doorstep. Tucker can’t believe that the person that he has been thinking about is now only a few steps away but he needs to remember he doesn’t sleep with the same woman twice but it’s like she has bewitched him. He can’t think of anything better than to be with her, touching her but he needs to make it clear that he doesn’t do relationships. Well for his satisfaction when she tells him that nothing can happen between them he feels sucker punched. When Sophie absolutely knows that the job interview she had didn’t go well she knows that she needs to find a job and she did just that. She was going to be working at Tit for Tap and oh my gosh it was like someone lit a fire under his behind because it was like the hell with the no. I could not believe that the green eyed monster had come out of Tucker but he had to remember that he didn’t want a relationship; he had no claim to her. That’s when things get interesting because he realizes that he wants her but she knows that it can’t be. She opens up to Tucker about her mother and he feels, he finally feels something he had not done in a long time. He now sees what Cole felt and now his mother. But things are not that easy just when she comes to talk to him he has to blow up and tell her that he doesn’t have any feelings for her. What a douche bag he is going to regret it later on.One Night with a Cowboy was a wonderful read. I loved Cole’s story but now after reading Tucker and Sophie’s story I can’t decide which one I liked best. I don’t think I can choose so they are a tie. This is the third book that I have read by Ms. Otto and I love her writing style. Her writing is clear, focused; it’s smooth and easy to read. This is a story in which I got lost and I didn’t want for it to finish. I know that I got sentimental because of what was going on with Sophie’s mother and how hard it is to see a love one’s light dimming day by day. Sophie was a beautiful, strong-willed woman that did was she pleased but when it came to a cowboy just one touch would unravel her. Tucker was a man that needed to deal with his demons; he was strong and caring even if he didn’t want to care. The chemistry between these two characters was holy crap hot, it was sizzling hot. The moment that they touched it was like they were on fire. This was a fast paced story with an intriguing storyline. I know that I didn’t just cry I did laugh at certain points in the story, especially when Tucker found her with a spatula because some big animal had invaded her cabin; it was a nice little squirrel. There were times that I wanted to strangle Tucker because he was being a douche especially with his mother. So do I recommend this story to readers but of course I also recommend to readers if you haven’t read the first book in this series then what are you waiting for pick that one up also.Received ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an Honest Review

I loved this book from the beginning to the end! It is such a touching story about two people who don't feel like they have the time for love in their lives. Slowly they start to realize that they could have more than just sex, if only they could let go of their pasts.Sophie is back in Montana to visit her mother who is on her death bed and try to figure out what to do with her life. She recently lost her job, so there is nothing to go back to Minnesota to. While at a carnival, she sees Tucker and can't help but marvel over how perfect he is. She wouldn't mind going on a ride with him, and she isn't thinking of a carnival ride.Tucker is at the carnival to meet with a client when he lays his eyes on Sophie. She is beautiful and he can't help but be drawn to her. Soon they make small talk and he realizes how comfortable he is around her. He would love nothing more to make their night more intimate. Soon they both give into their desires and have the hottest one night stand imaginable. They believe they will not see each other again, and end it at that. However, fate intervenes and Sophie shows up at his family's ranch for some much needed R&R. Tucker can't believe his luck. She is all he has been able to think about and he is even willing to break his own rule of one night only just for another chance to be with her. Sophie is equally shocked. She has relived their amazing night so many times that she can't help but want another encounter.Soon Tucker finds any excuse he can to go to her cabin, he can't stand the thought of not being near her. Sophie loves seeing Tucker, so it is no hardship when he comes to visit. After a while, can't help but get closer.Eventually Sophie has to get any job she can to help pay for her mother's medical expenses. When Tucker finds out where she works, he doesn't want her working there because he doesn't want other men to lust after what he considers his. When breaks down and finally asks Sophie for more and to quit her job, she turns him down. He can't understand it. When she takes him to show him why she can't invest more time into their relationship and why she needs to work, he is taken back. He doesn't know what to say when he sees her mother laying lifeless in the bed. On the way out he does the only thing he knows to do to help out, he pays for her mother's expenses. After some soul searching, Sophie realizes that she could make room for Tucker in her life and goes to make amends with him, she is shocked at the reception she receives. Tucker is cold and says some truly hateful things to her. She leaves his office in tears and knows she can never forgive him. After she leaves, Tucker can't believe he said those things to her. He knows he truly messed up and he will never have a life with her. When Tucker gets news that Sophie's mom is dying he fights his inner demons on whether or not to go to her. When his heart wins out, he races to he by her side. He is heartbroken by what he finds. He is only grateful that he was there in time to be with Sophie when her mom passes away. When he takes her back to his house that night, Sophie wants him to help her forget for a little while. He is more than willing to help, he knows that he is head over heels in love with her and would do anything to ease her pain. The next morning he wakes up to find her gone and the cabin she stayed in empty. He knows that he truly run off the only person he will ever love. Will Tucker will back Sophie's heart? Will Sophie let Tucker back in, even with all the awful things he said to her? Will they get the HEA they both deserve? In order to find out you will need to read the book. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. This book truly tugs on your heart in so many ways. Sophie has the weight of the world on her shoulders and thinks she doesn't deserve happiness at the moment. Tucker was a past that he is afraid will repeat itself if given the chance. It was great reading how they both were learning from the past and how to handle the future. I can't recommend this book enough. And I have to say, the ending of the book was so wonderful!! What are you waiting for? Go get your copy today!

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This ChickOne Night with a Cowboy is the second book in the Paint River Ranch series by Elizabeth Otto. This book can be read as a standalone with interconnected characters. I had no problems getting into this story or understanding what was going on even though I hadn't read the previous book. I enjoyed this story, and thought that it was a sweet and easy read. After reading this story I really want to go back and read the first book as well as read more in this series. This was the first book I have read by Elizabeth Otto, but I will definitely be looking for more from her in the future.Sophie Miller heads to Montana to help take care of her mother. She is jobless, broke and forced to deal with her sister while also trying to figure out how to make money to continue supporting her mom. When she meets a sexy cowboy at a carnival, she figures there is no harm in escaping her life for a night with him. Sophie and Tucker spend a passionate night together and find out that they have a strong physical connection between them. Tucker never lets women get close to him though and only does one night only. When he finds himself wanting to see Sophie again, he breaks his rule and asks to see her a second time. She turns him down, but a few days later she runs into him again. They find it hard to stay away from each other even though they know there is no future for them. The more time they spend together, the closer they get. But can they figure out a way to be together with both of them convinced that they have no future?Sophie was strong and resourceful and I liked how she was always willing to help her mom and family. She worked so hard and was willing to find any job in order to continue to provide care for her mom. I liked that she was so supportive of her family, but that she also was so willing to help others. She was honest with Tucker and tried to keep things casual between them. But she couldn't help but develop feelings for him. She was really good for Tucker and she really helped him to open up a little and realize that they were good together. Tucker was sexy and strong and was one of those guys one hundred percent man. He was so closed off at first and had really thought that he didn't deserve to be with Sophie or his ex because of his dad. He also tried to stay away from Sophie and was confused by what he was feeling for her. But he kept going back to her because he knew that there was something more between them. He was also really sweet and found ways to show her that he cared about her. I liked that he was really supportive of her when he found out all she was dealing with and he was really there for her when she needed him the most. They had a lot of chemistry together and you could really feel their attraction to each other. But they also connected on a more emotional level and you could see that they were developing much stronger feelings.I really enjoyed this book and I thought that Tucker and Sophie were really good together. They were sweet and steamy, and I thought that their relationship was very real and believable. I thought that at times this book was a little slow and things seemed to drag a bit because it was so detailed. But I thought that the story was really good despite that and I was really rooting for Tucker and Sophie to figure things out. This book was really cute and was lighthearted and left me happy. One Night with a Cowboy is one that I would recommend to fans of Contemporary Romance and sexy cowboys. If you are looking for a nice escape, this book is one you should give a shot. I look forward to reading more from Elizabeth Otto in the future, and I am curious about Tucker's brother Levi. I am excited to see what Otto has in store for him next. **ARC Provided by Publisher**

3.5 stars. -- This book was given to me for review. These are my honest opinions. This was a pretty good book. Fairly predictable, but still quite enjoyable. This is the first book I've read by Otto and I would definitely read more. She is a good storyteller for the most part. I will get into the good bits in a moments, because there are a LOT of them. But I want to address my areas of struggle first. Our main characters, Sophie and Tucker, are your typically angst ridden individuals, who have encountered something life changing and are battling their inner demons. Sophie has to deal with her family issues, as well as her career issues; while Tucker has to deal with family issues and past relationships. That wasn't anything new to me. To be honest, the first third of the book wasn't that pulling. There was a decent amount of sex, which for the premise of the book, makes sense. It just didn't draw me in.Once I got past the first third, things started to pick up and the character became more interesting for me. I will say that I like that Sophie wasn't your timid female who needed someone to save her. Tucker wasn't there to be her rescuer. Points to Otto for that one. Not to mention, Sophie was able to be be Tucker's hero throughout the book as well. There were a few plot gaps, but that has to do with the pacing of the book. Everything was quick. Everything was scene after scene after scene. There wasn't a real flow to the story, which isn't a bad thing. But it's something that bothered me, especially when we got to the pivotal points of vulnerability on the parts of both characters. Now onto the good. The character development in Tucker was great. A bit choppy, but really great. I enjoyed his inner turmoil (that sounds wrong), I enjoy witnessing his process. How he slowly figured out why he felt certain ways regarding his mother, his brothers, Sophie, etc. He was the most enjoyable to read about for me. He was written fairly well. Sophie was a decent character too, but I felt like her story left a lot more to be desired. Especially when it came to her sister, Carla. I wanted to see more there. The kitchen scene was a really good step in the proper direction, but it didn't make it all the way to the other side for me.The emotional scenes were wrtitten really well. I did tear up during Tucker's moments and during Sophie's. Otto can bring the emotion forth from a reader, so I really appreciated those efforts. I got angry at the appropriate times, because Tucker and Sophie DO make you angry, I got frustrated, I even called Sophie "stupid" at one point. And I called Tucker a "dumbass". If I get vocal, that means I'm interested. The ending was a bit abrupt, but I'll take it since it DID end well. Tucker's dialogue during the final scene of the book was perfection. It was melt your heart perfect. With that being said, this was an enjoyable story. A lot of good, some bad. But I was pleased with my experience. I would recommend this read for a casual experience. It's not amazing, but it is good.

Karia reviews a Cowboy book with steam, lust and longing…and of course one hot, dominant, cocky cowboy! What would you do if you just lost your job, were caring for your convalescent mother, living with your difficult sister several states away from home? Why go to the carnival and pick up the hottest cowboy you have ever seen, of course: One Night with a Cowboy (Paint River Ranch #2) by Elizabeth Otto. The book liner says, ‘One night is never enough…’ and once I met Tucker, I had to agree…one night would never be enough!Sophie, or Fifi as Tuck calls her is a ‘Jobless, broke, and struggling to support herself and her invalid mother, paramedic who doesn’t have time or energy for a relationship. Especially with her mother’s clock ticking down. So when the sexy cowboy she meets at a carnival proposes a no-strings, one-night stand, she’s all over it. Until her one-night stand shows up again and turns out to be everything she’s ever wanted.’At first meet…I loved Tucker Haywood. He keeps himself busy and believes he ‘has his hands full running Paint River Ranch and trying to deal with all the changes pulling the rug out from under him. His past has taught him it’s better to keep women at arm’s length, for their sake. Stubborn and temperamental, Tucker doesn’t have a clue how to deal with a city girl who’s scared of squirrels and dirt. So when Sophie gets under his skin, he has to do whatever it takes to push her away. Even if it means losing the part of himself he never thought he’d find.’Tucker is your classic ass. He was “hurt” years ago and now is the county’s most notorious and wanted “one night stand”. He never, ever goes back for seconds, never lets them touch him, and never brings them home. So when Tucker rides up to one of the cabins on his ranch and see Sophie, he knows he can’t resist her and must have just one more taste. And taste he does…in a hay wagon, under the bridge, in a tree fort…and finally in a bed! Keeping Sophie at arm’s length is hard enough when they are intimate, or shall I quote Tuck “when they are having hot sex”. The more Tuck tries to convince himself that it is just sex, the more he falls and the more his asshole traits surface.I cannot tell you all how many times in this book my heart totally clenched and contracted with the heart ache and longing that I felt through each of these damaged souls. I wanted to get Tuck’s head out of his ass and make him be real with Sophie…and I found myself telling Sophie over and over: the time is right when it is right! Uggg, these two had me up and down and awake reading until 1:38am to get their HEA…and I loved it! I fell and I fell hard…Enjoy!

I've roped in a 4 star book.Maybe 4 1/2.This book was awesome-sauce because:Tucker.Conflicted, damaged...protective and in the end sweet. Tucker is the definition of southern working man. Rough hands and hard abs hiding the ever growing need to be loved. And my goodness, how I would have nurtured his wounds.Sophia. Sophia, Sophia, Sophia. She's got the weight of the world on her shoulders and without giving away any important details, proves to be strong. She works hard and deals with the feels circling her. After running into Tucker, she is thrown into a rodeo of lust. Not feeling the timing she rides her 8 seconds and leaves, only to start falling for the feeling of letting loose. Go with it girl! They push and shove each other away, both having personal struggles to overcome. The whole time I read I kept saying, "If you'd let it happen, you could help each other!"Then at the end of the book the feels train came in fast.I knew that it had to happen at one point and was prepared for it.okayyy. I was not.But the end gave me warm fuzzies and I was in a better place. Would I recommend this book? Yes but be prepared for this kind of reaction towards the end.Chugging down to to sadness town to be dropped of at happyville.

One Night With A Cowboy may promise a fun a flirty romp in the hay...and boy does it deliver!Look deeper however, and what you are fortunate to find is an emotionally charged read, that is sure to light fires of empathy and understanding, while still managing to keep passion's embers white-hot.SophieWhile it is true that Sophie has a lot on her plate...Sophie Miller proves time and time again that she is more than grown enough to handle a seat at the adult table.Never one to back down from a challenge of any sort, Sophie lets her libido take the lead when she meets hunky Tucker Haywood at a town carnival. The immediate chemistry between these two proves without a doubt, that one night will never be enough. The fun in reading Sophie, is the fact that in spite of knowing, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that all sane signs lead away from Tucker. She is drown to him like a bee to honey. Sophie's family relationships and back story provide a wonderful emotional counter balance to the carnal whirlwind that the couple create.TuckerTucker Haywood is a lot of things...but what he isn't, is ready to lay his hear bare in the presence of any woman.Until Sophie...There is just something about that little spitfire of a filly that this cowboy wants to put his brand on.Tucker Haywood is the ultimate in male leads for the "wounded knight" lover. The fact that he so wants to be there for Sophie, just makes you as the reader want it all the more for him.He is a good man to his core and a steady hand in his lady's topsy-tirvy existence. The StoryThis is a "sweet heat" kind of romance. The fire of the love scenes is tempered by the overall raw emotional content of both the characters and the plot. So, in a sense, one could say that the nonsexual drama serves to contain and purpose the spicier element. The character interaction between Tucker and Sophie starts off with a bang; only to revert to an almost tentative reintroduction later.Readers are allowed to experience the "testing of the waters" phase of the relationship along with the pair, making for very engrossing but delightfully unpredictable story. The end...sweet, romantic, and heart-stoppingly unforgettable. This one sitting read is sure to show you why One Night With A Cowboy is never enough!See this review and more at: http://www.wtfareyoureading.com/2014/...

The chemistry oozed hotness all over, between Tucker and Sophie their story was panty dropping. The sexual tension from both, just made the story even more exciting. I love a book that has both character's points of view. It just makes sense that way. The story is about opening up to someone and taking a risk. About moving forward and not live in the past because it will not get you anywhere. Sophie and Tucker ended this book in the sweetest way. I am looking forward to reading more of the Paint River Ranch Series.~ Kathleen, 4 1/2 starsI enjoyed this book except for the parts that I didn't. I know that's a twisted sentence, so bear with me... When it was good, it was very good. I loved the way this book was written. It was a very visual book for me and I can't say that about a lot of books. I had a clear picture in my mind of what the Paint River Ranch looked like, as well as the covered bridge and the gorgeous treehouse. In addition, Sophie was an awesome heroine. She was strong and didn't need or ask for Tucker's help. She didn't pander to him or simper, nor did she bow to his demands. Tucker was a typical alpha male character. He was rich, sexy, desirable - just the way I like my cowboys. I wish he talked more and thought less though. This book got bogged down in the middle because the characters - Tucker in particular - were overthinking everything. It was frustrating. Frustratingly effective, however, because when I put the book down for a period of time (not as a result of said frustration but because I thought it prudent to feed my kids), I kept thinking about it. I was eager to get back to it and see Sophie and Tucker figure it out.~ Beth, 3 1/2 stars

ARC ReviewWhen a sexy cowboy says "...kissing your body until you scream yourself hoarse" and then follows it up with "I don't do gentle", EVERY nerve ending in your body stands on end. Every. Single. One. This is a steamy one, ladies. Hot. Sensual. Sexy. I would advise an extra pair of unmentionables on hand while reading. By chapter four, I was looking for mine. It has been a long, long while since I've read a book that the sex scenes were so hot and well written. I've learned that not every one can do this and keep the sensuality in it as well. Sensuality is important, especially if you're having hot sex with a just-met-cowboy in the back of a hay cart. You want to know something else? The rest of the story was just as good! I am so in love with Tucker right now. He's wounded and hot and all wrapped up under a cowboy hat. And sexy, lord have mercy, how could I forget sexy?? Tuck does have his flaws though. He's strictly a one-nighter. Never more than once with the same woman. Until he meets Sophie. Sophie is an out of work paramedic in town to be with her dying mom. My heart broke for her and I cried. Real tears. Sophie, for me, was so real and genuine. Sometimes, it's hard to connect with characters and feel like they're three dimensional. I felt like I was hearing a friend's story, so real were the characters.I really loved this book. It was sweet and oh so sexy at the same time. AND it's a book in the middle of a series! But, I didn't miss anything by not reading the previous books and I didn't feel like I was dragged down by backstory. This one is a definite recommend and I give it 5 of 5 stars.

I'm telling you, these Haywood Brothers are going to be the death of me. But what a way to go! Tucker Haywood is a walking, living, breathing contradiction. He swears that he's not good enough for anyone, but he so is. He's gentle and caring and has so much to give, his problem is he believes what other people have told him. So he belives he's not worthy of giving or receiving love. Dumbass! Gorgeous dumbass, but still. Sophie is different from Tucker, she's going through a lot of things and doesn't believe she has time for anyone else in her life. She's juggling a lot, and when she meets Tucker, one night with him sounds like a welcome distraction and a good time all rolled into one. The chemistry between them is off the charts, and so is the denial that runs through both of them. One night turns into a whole lot more, but both Sophie and Tucker drag their feet and are pulled into each other kicking and screaming with themselves the entire way. I've got to hand it to Tucker though, he stole July for Sophie, not many men would know how to do that and make it work. As always Elizabeth's work is awesome. She pulled me right into the story and I couldn't put it down until I was done reading every last page. I love her main characters, that they are so imperfect, yet stunningly perfect for each other. I can't wait to see which brother we get to meet next in this deliciously sexy series. Doesn't really matter, I'll still read it, and more importantly, I'm certain I'll love it.

4 1/2 Stars!!This is the 2nd book in the Paint River Ranch series but it is not necessary to read the 1st one to enjoy this book.Sophie is going through a rough patch, recently losing her job and getting bad news about her mother's declining health condition. She has made the 1300 mile trip to where her mother is living to spend some quality time with her. She doesn't have the time or energy to have a man in her life or so she thinks. One night, while at a carnival with her sister and nephew, Sophie sees a sexy cowboy that she cannot resist.Tucker is a love 'em and leave 'em cowboy. After one failed relationship, Tucker is convinced love is not for him. However he does enjoy one-night stands, no drama or complications. At a local carnival, he spots the beautiful Sophie and knows she is just what he needs for the night.A few days after their one-night stand, circumstances have thrown Sophie and Tucker into each other's path once again. The chemistry is soon too much to be denied. But what happens when feelings come into play? Will Tucker be ready to settle down? Will Sophie decide to stay in Montana for good? I really enjoyed this book! It grabbed my attention right from the beginning and I finished the same day. The heat between Sophie and Tucker was smoking hot! This is the first book I've read by Elizabeth Otto but it won't be the last!! Definitely recommend this book!

Wow; this one was so much more than I expected! Even though it grabbed me right from the beginning--the very first evening Sophie and Tucker meet, they engage in a literal roll in the hay, which just tickled me--both characters were so emotionally closed off that even though their "one night" kept magically repeating itself I wasn't sure that Elizabeth Otto could pull this one off.I was so glad to be proven wrong. If the beginning had me doubting, the final third was just amazing--the sheer emotional impact was fantastic. In the midst of great personal stress and tragedy, both Sophie and Tucker manage to pull themselves together to make some pretty significant gestures. Unfortunately for Soph, hers isn't initially received as it should be (bullheaded man!) but Tucker pulled his head out of his butt eventually and showed her effort the appreciation it deserves. And then...happy sigh...a definite feel-good ending.(I did not realize, however, that Ms. Otto had such a sadistic streak. The teaser for Levi, the third brother's novel? Just cruel. She'd better make up for it by giving us adequate cuteness between Tucker and Sophie in book three. With some Rylan, Cole, and Birdie adorableness thrown in for good measure.)In the mean time, I may never again look at a covered bridge in quite the same way.Or squirrels. ;)Rating: B+ / 4 starsI received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

4 StarsSophia has come to Montana to help take care of her mother. She is trying to enjoy a day at the carnival with her nephew when she spots him. Tucker is at the carnival doing business but this woman has caught his eye.I truly liked Sophia. She had a rather eclectic list of skills. Tucker is the classic never good enough for anyone hero. He seems to take care of many people but feels he is not good enough for anyone. This is the second book in a series; and I wonder if some of his character development is in book 1 - I just didn't feel as connected to him as Sophia. The plot on this book was all over the place. There are issues with Sophia's sister, her mom's health; issues with Tucker's Mom; Sophia has some personal issues; and then there are the issues between the couple. Some of them are done well, some seem to be just page filler to me, but the good outweighed the bad.In the end it was a good read; a definite beach read - something entertaining but easy to put down when you want to walk the beach or take a swim. I would try another book by this author and will look out for the next in this series.I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review.
