I honestly couldn't decide how I felt about this story at first. It was a little shocking, yet as I got into it, I couldn't put it down. This story of true and unconditional love was told in a beautiful way that was very touching, emotional, and inspirational. Giselle was orphaned at a young age and was taken in by her mother's best friend from college. Gina was a grudging kind of "mother" and was very cold. On the other hand, Gilles, her new "brother" made up for all of that, along with his father. Giselle ended up having a great childhood, since she felt loved, was able to pursue her dream of ballet, and was cared for.Giselle and those close to her had a lot of heartache and trials to endure, but they all did so with great faith and strength. I was especially amazed at how mature Giselle was and how well she handled what life handed her. Sometimes, the books that have all gloom and doom can be depressing, but this one was very uplifting. I really enjoyed the way the story came together--I just wished for a little more for the ending. I guess I just wanted it to be a little longer.Content:-language: a few mild curse words-violence: a non-graphic fight or two (bloody nose, etc)-romance: kissing, some passionate; sex between a minor before legal marriage, but all implied and behind closed doors--nothing graphic. Technically clean, but for an older reader-religion: talk of praying and of inspirational experiences, but I didn't feel it was preachy*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*

This was a powerful heartwarming story that drew me in with the characters and the plot. The love between Giselle and Gilles was so pure and strong that at points it made me cry. There is a beautiful innocence about the way each of them discover their feelings and cherish what a precious gift real love is. I also enjoyed the father's personality and was thrilled that he got a happy ending. The way religion was woven throughout the story was amazing as it was always appropriate without being preachy; it was just another undeniable element of the couple's love. This story was beautifully written and makes me hungry for more from this author.

Very Good BookVery Good BookThis book had me crying, dealing with a family member that have cancer and having a family recently pass away from cancer, is the hardest thing to deal. With God on our side and a lot of prayers anything is possible.

A Beautiful Story- BRAB Online Book ClubI have read books by this author before and her books are always emotional and inspiring. This one was no different, the story started with Giselle mother's death and her going to live with her mother's best friend.Giselle and Gilles story has taken me on an emotional journey through friendship, adolescent love which later developed to everlasting love. The trials and triumphs that they endured and eventual HEA, has made this a great read.

Thank you! This book was very refreshing. I felt nothing but joy when a read this book. Even in there hardship they had so much faith and trust in God and each other. I also like that there wasn't all the drama in the story. I really like this story and cry a little when it was over.

The rainy season is an inspirational and heartwarming story about a girl named Giselle who after being orphaned as a child is taken in by her mother's friend and falls in love with the woman's son Gilles. The first sentence says how destiny is as unpredictable as a shifting wind and it applies to this story very well as no matter how hard we try to be good people, suffering, pain will always come our way and it's up to us to decide whether we will go on or let ourselves be defeated by it. The message is one I love because I also apply it to my own novels and I also enjoyed the main characters relationship, it was very sweet and realistic. This is my second book by Jewel Adams and if you are looking for a good read I highly recommend it.

I was given this for an honest review. I love this description "This is the story of a girl who was handed a life she never expected, encountering a love she could never deny." The book, however, was okay. I didn't really like it. Gilles and Giselle were cute but a little too sappy for me personally. I understood that Gina was cold but I didn't know what the big deal was about them being together. Gina was just ridiculous saying that Giselle was a child whore tempting Gilles. And no offense, but I didn't care about Grace and her story or Bishop Nelson and about him dying. Also, the journal of Giselle was a little creepy.

PG13Language: a few swear wordsViolence: teenagers fist fightingSex: descriptive kissing; intimacy alluded to, but no detailsExtremely sweet, moving, and tender love story. The love and devotion between the H and h is so inspiring. There is also a faith promoting element to the book which I love and feel very much adds to the characters' lives. Great book - most appropriate for a mature teen and older age bracket.Trigger: parent death, cancer
