Underwear-shaped diecut views help readers predict who the owner will be on the following pages while Polar Bear searches for his own underwear. The surprise ending is both funny and satisfying. Great read aloud for PreK-2.

Underwear? Really? I wasn't sure at first about this one but it really grew on me and the little ones loved it. So goofy and fun. The story is about Polar Bear and how he's lost his undies. Perplexed, he and his good friend Mouse begin a search. What you get are big bright pages in sets. The first page of the set has Mouse and Polar Bear talking about whether what they spy on the next page could be PB's underwear. What children see is a page with a cut out and a bright 'mystery' pattern. One pattern, for example, has different kinds of food; while another has 'I Love Mice'. When you turn the page you get to see who it is.I particularly like the itty-bitty cutout but kids will have their own favorites.Besides the fun you can use this book to teach about patterns and to name animals like Pig, Mouse, Cat, Zebra....A delightful and sturdy book made with thick paper.~review copy--sample pages:

Why I liked this book- This is a funny picture book that shows animals walking around in their underwear. Polar Bear has lost his underwear, and can’t remember what it looks like, so he and his friend mouse (wearing red undies) set out to find it! They find lots of underwear, but they all belong to different animals! Seeing what the animals are doing, and the little bit of text about it (for example: Pig’s underwear – “Nom nom nom. It’s Pig’s underwear!” (pig is eating)), will have young kids cracking up! The illustrations are slightly wacky, and will make kids laugh! This book team really makes it work! This is a marvelous picture book!*NOTE* I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Read this one to 2-year-old twins and they loved it. It absolutely has that "read it again" quality which is always great. I absolutely adored the bright and bold mixed-media illustrations and the conversational tone of the text and the ending is also very satisfactory for the reader/listener. My only criticism - and I recognize that it is an odd one - is stereotyping the pig. I truly believe that even subtle moves like putting a pig in treat-covered undies and depicting the animal snacking (when none of the others are) help to contribute to our society's disdain/disrespect for overweight people. Body-shaming is the last type of abuse that is largely tolerated - at least in the U.S. - and I think we have to actively fight against this and not feed into (pun intended) the idea that overweight people are constantly eating or obsessed with treats. The equation of obese individuals to pigs is still in wide use so that is why I don't think it is such a leap for me to make this observation in a children's book. Research proves, time and again, that many overweight individuals have the same - if not more - healthy habits as their thinner peers but just have bodies that react differently to intake & exercise so it is time we stop judging bodies and start appreciating people. That rant ended, I think this is a very, very clever concept book and the children really enjoy it!

Vanaf 2,5 jaar

"We've all been in poor Polar Bear's position, hunting madly for underwear. In Polar Bear's Underwear by Tupera Tupera, readers get to look for his underwear, by which, of course, I mean underpants, too. This is one of those deals where you find underwear for everyone but the polar bear whose underwear you want. You go through a lot of underwear in this book."Excerpt from Original Content.

Polar bear searches for his underwear with the help of a little mouse friend. Each page repeats the question "Is THIS your underwear?" Very good for young children. Colorful, and with cute cut-outs.
