first person to write a review on this book on goodreads! But as much as it pains me to say this, personally, I was not a big fan of this one. The cover is what caught my attention, and then it was the plotline. The plot, to me, was very intriguing, but the actual story just did not do me good.In the middle of everything there was just so much secrets that Hunter had that it just pissed me off. The kind of secret that the person your starting a relationship with MUST KNOW!!!!!And when Anna found out part of the secret, I felt like she totally overlooked it. I mean it's good it' she's not letting it get to her head so much, but in reality it should be a really big deal. The secrets just got to me, I hate it when they hold secrets, it just doesn't end up well, IT DOESN'T. It just felt so dirty.

Ohhhhh no no no noOhhhhh no no no nomove along. you will just want to knock the s$$t out of every character in the book except for Jackie and Jane and Jake....ha go figure that one cause it's the hero's best friend, wife and child. anyway everyone else just sucks. for an mama fighter he is as close to a Pollyanna dude than I have ever read about. seriously I was waiting for the next words he said to Anna to be something along the lines of .... golly gee, Anna. and don't even get me started on the heroine.....what a no backbone, feel sorry for myself, all about poor pitiful me, ridiculous excuse for a human. Really...I forgive you for not telling me your married, but get out of my life forever because you have a daughter. seriously.....I have absolutely no words at all. none. please don't let the blurb or cover fool you into this. I'm only giving it one star to warn readers by writing this review I have to give a star.I'm sorry to be so harsh with this review but I guess I'm having buyer's remorse here plus the few hours I put in on reading this. suggestion for the author, give Jake a story or maybe even jackie. just take into consideration what I have written. Jake's an mma fighter and he's pissed because he's been duped. toughen his ass up and make him an alpha mma fighter worthy of the title. let Jackie have a sweet story with this new boyfriend who is willing to take on a child as well. maybe have to get all in her parents faces for being jerks to her. whatever. just no more weak, whiney, sissy, or totally over dramatic heroes or heroines. good luck with your future works. I would read another just to see if there's improvement on characterization.

**My review contains spoilers**Anna has moved back to her hometown in California from Australia where she moved years ago to get cancer treatment by the best doctors. Now that she's in remission she's ready to move back home to work as a physical therapist. She's also hoping to reunite with her first love, Hunter.Hunter is an MMA fighter who now has to go to a new physical therapist for his knee since his old PT is no longer available. This is where Hunter and Anna reconnect. Hunter has always thought of Anna as the one who got away and he wastes no time trying to start something up with her again. There's only one catch...he's married and has a daughter.I had a lot of problems with this book:** Even though the marriage isn't what it seems I don't understand why Hunter would keep his daughter a secret. She should be his pride and joy. ** Hunter and Anna were declaring their love way too quickly. It was like no time had passed and they were both keeping way too many secrets for it to work out. It didn't feel real.** But it did work out. They were so many opportunities for conflict in this story but the author chose not to make it happen. Anna was even okay with Hunter being married. Are you kidding me?** The storyline with the ex-boyfriend/arch nemesis was a joke. He was portrayed like a cartoon villain. It was ridiculous.** I was confused by the random paragraphs that were italicized yet the flashback paragraphs were not. It was distracting and just wrong.Overall the story was very unoriginal and juvenile. Very forgettable.

This book was hard to read. It was poorly written. The writing seemed juvenile to me. The storyline wasn't believable. They were apart for 9 years and just picked up right where they left off. I couldn't feel the chemistry or connection. The characters were also annoying and too cheesy. The heroine didn't have a backbone and I couldn't believe how she dealt with the hero's secret.

This was a cute story and a good book if your looking for a quick read. The couple is really cute together but their relationship seemed a little bland and the story feels a little bit rushed. But it is a good book if your looking for something new on a lazy Sunday.

I decided to try this book on a whim because of Amazon Unlimited. The reviews were okay but I took a chance, why not?I'm glad I did. It had a good plot. Even tho I could tell where it was going, I enjoyed the way the author gets you there. Not all stories have to be nail biting over the top drama. This is a nice story about soul mates and second chances. It has a bit of drama for interest and some sexy scenes. It was like setting and having a chat with an interesting friend. Things that can go on in some ones life. I would recommend it.

Thought the book was going to be interesting, good concept. But I didn't enjoy it. I didn't even care how it ended. I couldn't handle all the "oh's" in this book, everything was oh this and oh that.

Very juvenile plot, dialogue and general calibre of writing. At 90 % I binned it. Couldn't be bothered finishing since it was so predictable.

This review contains spoilers....you've been warned. So I picked this up because it's about MMA fighters (yes, please), second chance romances, and it's free on kindle unlimited. So far so good, right? Um no...my enthusiasm for this book ended pretty immediately after I started reading. I guess I should've read the reviews before I wasted my time on it. Never again will I make that mistake. I was ready to DNF on so many occasions but trudged on.Here's the gist...Anna leaves Hunter heartbroken in high school because she has cancer and can only get treatment in Australia. Although she loves him she lies to him and never tells him she has cancer. Beyond this so many stupid things happen, all because the hero and heroine apparently like to jump to conclusions and lie to each other (or withhold information...tomato...tomatoe). Anna comes back to LA supposedly to get him back but the minute she sees him she's like. "Oh no, I don't even know how I feel about him." Um excuse me, just a page ago he was the main reason you came back. Anyways, don't even bother to stretch your brain with that indecision because it lasts about two seconds, after which they have picked up where they left off 9 years prior and everything is hunky-dory, hearts and rainbows, and I was waiting for someone to break out into song a hilltop. "The hills are alive, with our cheesy perfect love."We also find out that Hunter went to see Anna in Australia about six months after she left...without telling her he was going because he had no way of contacting her. Really? So, how the hell did you find her in the whole country of Australia when you didn't know where she went and she left you no contact info? That's neither here no there. When he gets there...after saving his money for 6 months and flying thousands of miles...he sees her with some guy, not really doing anything but walking and instead of saying "wtf, bitch?" He turns right around and heads back to LA never to contact her again. Yeah, some soul mate you are. That's some pretty undying love there buddy, when you gave up and walked away so easily. And her, when she found out she was going to survive her Cancer she didn't even bother to find the guy she supposedly loved so much that no one else compared until 9 years later. I call bullshit on all of that. Of course, nothing is perfect - even though they're professing their love for each other after their second meeting. Yeah, that always happens. Anna has a psycho ex who apparently is Hunter's nemesis and the whole storyline behind this devolves into a convoluted clusterfuck that leaves you more confused than Inception. Whatever. But that's not all...of course it isn't. Hunter is holding a secret...that after several months of being with Anna, professing his undying love, and promising her the world he has still not bothered to tell her. Well actually, we soon find that he has two secrets. One of which is that he is married...this she kind of shrugs off and gets over pretty quickly, which obviously gives him the perfect opportunity to tell her his other secret (which in my opinion is really nothing compared to the fact that he's married) ...he has a two-year old daughter. Does he tell her at this perfect time? Of course not. He continues to keep it from her until someone else tells her in the most humiliating way. Way to go, Hunter. You're a winner! But wait, there's more. Let's add to this headache shall we. Anna can handle that he's been secretly married and not told her but a daughter? Well that's a deal breaker. What an idiotic bitch. Hunter, apparently now has nothing to live for and goes on a crazy motorcycle riding bender. It's only when he's about to eat pavement and die that he realizes oh yeah, I have something to live for...my daughter. What a douche. So some more boring and stupid shit happens. Anna realizes, once she thinks Hunter might die, that maybe she's being a selfish and petty bitch about the daughter thing and she can't live without him. But Hunter wakes up and tells her to take her time to think about it. Um, okay...man he's an idiot. Anyways, yada, yada, yada they live happily ever after. The storyline is terribly developed. The characters are flat, immature, and so very not MMA alpha male worthy. I'm pretty sure Hunter has a vagina. The dialogue, oh god, don't even get me started on the dialogue. It was cheesy, flowery, and not at all sexy...ever.Skip this one, even if the freeness of it tempts you, I wish I had.

The time frame jump here really didn't work for me, & isn't likely to work for anyone that isn't recuperating from a lobotomy. Nine years is a long time, especially when someone you love just ups and leaves and never once tries to contact you. So, It's unbelievable that he wouldn't be pissed or at least be more cautious with his feelings. Instead, within days of seeing each other, with no explanation for the radio silence over nine years, they're calling each other baby, having phone sex, she's calling him her boyfriend, etc like the last nine years never even happened. Yet, neither can be honest with each other about two major, life altering changes that took place in the nine years. The 'oh, baby, yeah, baby, right there, yeah, oh yeah, baby...' sex didn't really flip it for me either. Three days post reunion... It also didn't fit that she knew he'd been a manwhore during their time apart and he'd already experienced the unplanned consequences of unsafe sex firsthand, but neither paused a moment as they had bare sex and don't even bother to pull out :/ eek''''Her "problem," or more specifically the reluctance in telling him her problem for fear he wouldn't want her, was really, really weak. She calls her Aussie bf and he tells her not to worry that adoption would always be an option.... To which she says, "Wow! I hadn't even really thought about that." Geez, you mean someone that can't have kids & wants em hasn't thought of adoption as an option?!? wtf? Finally, her big reveal comes and his response is "you poor, poor thing." Ehhh.. For such a truly sad topic, the way it was written caused a disconnect with the story, the reveal, the characters, & either's after emotions. I didn't even bat an eye, much less shed a tear, and I'm a sap! Then when it's time for his big reveal, she's pissed he lied. Hypocritical much?Of course, a cheesefest of epic proportions follows! Whippeee! They ride off into the sunset~ Not recommended!

Boring is the best way to describe this book. Let me count the reasons:It is told in alternating first-person chapters from Hunter’s and Anna’s point-of-view, but the “voice” of both characters sounds EXACTLY the same. And they both sound female. The only real conflict in this story is with Anna’s former boyfriend showing up to cause some trouble. But even that, and a bit of Anna over-reacting to Hunter not telling her sooner about his daughter (even though Anna kept it a secret from him for quite some time that she couldn’t have kids) is about it. Other than that, Anna comes back to LA, sees Hunter, she’s hot for him, he’s hot for her, and they pick up where they left off nine years before. They start seeing each other and eventually Hunter proposes. And they live happily ever after.Neither character really has any flaws, beyond Anna’s bit of over-reaction as noted above, but even that is dealt with in a page or two.The writing was also pretty basic and sometimes amateurish. For example, there is a large info-dump from Anna’s perspective in the very beginning. Page after page--or rather, screen after screen since I was reading this on my Kindle--of why Anna had left LA before and gone to Australia and what had happened.... A good writer would have found a way to incorporate this into the narrative. As a final note, I really wish that people who chose to write about MMA fighting actually knew something about MMA fighting. *sigh*

Ok I guess I need to explain why I scored this book so low it's only fair I guess well for me it kinda started good and than it was like every bad thing that could possibly happen was happening......and why Anna left Hunter was just plain silly....and they were far to young for this serious relationship that was portrayed....the main thing was really all the things going on at one time you never knew what was gonna happen next and omg the things they were afraid to tell each other this book was just silly but I will admit some of it I did enjoy just not the variety :) also don't get me started on the reunion of the two was just silly haven't seen you in nine years and bam two days we're back together lol

Sensitive MMA fighterMMA I'm thinking pure alpha, take charge, amused by fiesty claimed woman. Hot ripped guy on cover check, masculine name Hunter check, MMA fighter excessive testosterone levels check & check. So it was a little weird reading this at times. It's great that Anna was assertive but two times she went toe to toe with a psycho fighter & her man was there behind her. Also she took over in the bedroom & their conversations as Hunter was to worried he'd loose her.I guess I expecting something else.

I love an book about a fighter and the cover is what initially made me buy the book. When I read the blurb, I thought, second chance romance, even better. However, when I finally finished this book I was a bit disappointed. The story was very rush. Everything happened really quickly. I didn't feel a connection to Anna and Hunter at all. And the twist was a bit ridiculous. I'm giving it 3 stars because it did hold my attention and it was a quick read.

Good ideaBut it needs to be reworked. It was rushed, and I couldn't connect with the main characters of the story. I had a hard time giving any empathy and found myself bored or rolling my eyes.Like I said, great concept but the characters need more depth; the story needs more time to develop.

It's was a nice little story..........secret 1 I think she was too easy on him....Secret 2 can understand how she is feeling after what she went throw.......but to act like that on this secret and be OK with the first one.....It was not just him but I think she should have told him her secret before thinking of getting back with him.....I think the last 30% of the book was the best part....

I liked this book. The relationship between Anna and Hunter was sweet, what I never felt was why Nate was so hell bent on pulling down Hunter. I need more explanation more than I blame me taking drugs on you. That seemed very flimsy.

It annoyed me. It was all too predictable and solved itself quickly. They re-fell in love waaay too fast and I get they were holding a torch for each other but nine years? Yeah no. I just couldn't finish.

Hunter and AnnaThis was a good/ok story. I like the characters but the secrets they were keeping that they made the big deal about felt over done. I can deal with that more than the fact this story about mma and really wasn't at all. Was good easy read.

A good read, though it wasn't what I was expecting. I thought the story was meant to be emotional, but for some reason I can't seem to connect with it. I would recommend as the storyline is ok and maybe its just wasn't for me.

This story line went from point A to Z and missed a lot of the middle. The word choices were extremely poor, have the time Hunter spoke, especially during the intimate sense I had to skip, corney and borning.

Sweet storyI loved Anna and Hunter's story. Anna's past was so heartbreaking but she survived. The love they shared was beautiful. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was that as much as I loved Hunter I didn't love the long drug out deceit.

Last Chance to Fight is a standalone book by Ava Ashley. Great second chance romance storyline that had lots of twists and turns. The characters were strong with depth, emotion and chemistry. All in all a very solid read.
