Tempt: A Twisted Wolf Tale is a present-day retelling of Red Riding Hood. The beginning was not bad, but it went downhill quickly, and became repetitive, boring, and nonsensical.World-buildingUndeveloped, unexplained, nonsensical.CharactersA twenty-one-year-old woman behaving like a seventeen-year-old and a female werewolf/shapeshifter (unclarified). The RomanceEroticaThe wolf has claws even in human form. In a lesbian erotic novel. Though not used, I don’t even want to think about them. Apart from that, the sex scenes were lame. Ending

5 Awesome Stars!*I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads*I LOVED the way Rene Folsom took the story of Little Red Riding Hood and added a sultry spin on the classic tale. Rene gives you the right amount detail but also keeps it short and sexy. She expertly leaves the story open if in the future she were to decide to expand on Rosetta's story but keeps it satisfyingly short. The brief little taste she gives you of her next fairy tale spin has me inpatiently waiting for her version of "Beauty and the Beast". **The Wicked Reads Review Team**

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.".This quick read is perfect for the run up to Halloween. It combines the premise of Little Red Riding Hood with a paranormal were romance. The set up is clever and enticing; the execution is sexy and amusing; the 'all the better...' lines are perfect. There are going to be more released as we reach the end of October; look out for them all, and enjoy your childhood favourites with an adult twist!

Amazing twist on an old classic. Only Rene could turn Little Red Riding Hood into a hot, steamy, suspenseful read. I could not put it down. I honestly did not know how this book would turn out at the end, absolutely loved it.

4 Stars|Amazon|Goodreads Rene excels at making you hot and bothered in her books. I was super excited to have a spooky book to read around Halloween and this novel did not disappoint. It was the perfect blend of both. A twisted retelling of Red Riding Hood was exactly what I needed. You have no idea what you are getting with this novel. It is a retelling of Red Riding Hood, kinda. It is far more than that though, and you will be happily surprised. It is so much better than you could have imagined! This novel does have F/F so be warned. It is a wonderful journey though. A story about finding oneself and falling in love. A quick read that grips you from the start and has you rooting for the happy ending.  Short, Sexy, and Sweet. Jump into Rosetta's story. It's no surprise that Rene Folsom is one of my favorite authors. She has an unique writing style that draws me into her books and connect with her characters. She's a great storyteller and every book I have read of hers I have enjoyed very much! She's just one of those authors that can write various genres and every one of those books are unique and had their own voice. Going to visit her granny, who lives deep within the Shrouded Woods, Rosetta, the main character, finds herself being ambushed by an unseen force. Soon after this event, she starts having weird dreams of a wolf and a seductive woman who seems to be beckoning Rosetta to her. Not knowing what these dreams mean, or if they are even real, Rosetta sets out into the Shrouded Woods to find out what is happening to her and why she is feeling certain things she has never felt before. And she might just get everything she was and wasn't looking for. I loved the chemistry and attraction coming from the two female main characters. I could see the tension and passion radiating off of them! Rene did a great job of recreating the fairy-tale of Little Red Riding Hood and adding a hot and sizzling twist on it. And I LOVED that the wolf was a female. That was a cool little twist!I recommend this book and any other book written by Rene Folsom. She's just an amazing writer with so much talent and I'll always read her books because I connect with every character she writes. My favorite quotes: "I have bewitched you?" I asked, incredulously. "Unimaginably so...""I will always come back for you, Rosetta." "She was magnificent. From the sandy color of her fur, to her strong, powerful stance...everything about her radiated protector, not attacker."

Fairy tales are absolutely not just for kids! I'm so glad I read this in October because it sets the absolute perfect atmospheric tone for a Halloween temptation which is both trick and treat at once. There's a lovely sense of fear, dread, heart-pounding worry at the onset which changes, morphs like the Big Bad Wolf turning into Granny in the original tale of Little Red Riding Hood except this change? It's sensual.Erotic.Wild women race barefoot through forests after beasts. Rosetta -our heroine in this story- starts out as a seemingly normal, tame woman. She's young, pretty enough, but passive. Her life is dictated by the small town life around her; she can't even seem to stir up enough antipathy to fight against people using nicknames for her she hates (All of which I don't blame her for because seriously? RoRo? I'd roll right over someone for that particular nightmarish moniker.) so what makes her interesting? She instantly starts to fall down the rabbit hole into a magical world of wild creatures and a wild woman who haunts her dreams, tempting her to take life instead of be taken by it. Tempt is a great treat with a bit of trick mixed in to keep the reader guessing. I loved it from start to finish and I can't wait for the next installment in the series! It's an easy 5 stars from me.*NOTE: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review on behalf of This Redhead LOVES Books Blog. This review originally appeared on my blog, In Patti's Imagination and will also appear at Amazon. I received an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.I enjoyed this novella. Rene's prose is elegant and descriptive in a way I can't seem to manage in so few words. For this alone, her books will always get a minimum of 3 (or 7) stars from me. I liked the plot and loved the twist on the traditional Red Riding Hood tale. Not only is it a contemporary setting, but the basic story is turned on its head. As with all of Rene's shorter works, I'm left wanting more, not because the story isn't complete, but because I need to stay with these characters. So, why the slightly lower rating? Well, the sexy parts of the story were hot, but nowhere near the level of some of her other shorter stories. Personally, I'm okay with that and I think, because of it, I can recommend TEMPT to an audience that might be willing to read a less-traditional story (there is a f/f element here) but doesn't want hardcore porn in their erotic stories. However, if a reader was looking for a far more graphic read, they'd be disappointed, so I'm dropping a star on my Goodreads/Amazon ratings. While I think it's more 4.5 than 4, I don't think it's a hard 4.5 and can be rounded up to 5. But, here on my blog, I can rate half-point x 2, so I'm giving it a 9/10. Loved it, Rene! Can't wait for more. And now, I better go read her Cornerstone series, so I can stop complaining that I want a longer book!

The re-writing of the classic fairy tales seems to be a new trend as of late. While I have read some that haven’t been that good, I have read others that have been really good. In the case of Tempt, I have to say that it was one of the better re-writes that I have read recently.Ms. Folsom did a really good job at adding enough twists and turns into the story to make it one of her own, but also kept to the original storyline enough that while reading it, you almost compare the two of them. Like wondering what is going to happen next; you think you have it figured out but then *bam* she throws something in there that knocks you completely off course.I’m not usually a fan of F/F stories, but I think that Ms. Folsom did a great job at those parts of the story because they were done very classy; there was nothing rude or crude about what was happening between them. But speaking of the F/F part of the story, I did like how that caught me off guard! I was NOT expecting that to happen at all, but I loved the twist. My only complaint about the story would be that I was left wondering about what had happened to Rosetta and the wolf. So I really hope that Ms. Folsom does another book about them in the future!Reviewed by Crystal Marie for Crystal’s Many Reviewers*Copy provided for review*

I love reading retellings of classic or fairtale novels. That being said, I did not read the synopsis for this story. I saw modern day retelling of Little Red Riding Hood then noticed it was a novella and I was sold. Once I started reading I was completely sucked in to this beautifully written story with characters I could identify with. The main points of the classic were touched on just to keep it where it needed to be, a retelling, but everything else was completely new and fantastic. A beautiful blend of fantasy and paranormal. It was so sensual, and the dreams were so realistic. Imagine my surprise when the wolf was a woman! Remember I did not read the synopsis lol. I don't read books like this usually, but it wasn't what you expect when you see F/F. This wasn't about the sex. It was so much more than that. It was about the connection, she had claimed her soulmate. I couldn't believe it when I reached the end because I wanted more. This story was my first read by Rene Folsom. I can't believe I haven't read anything by her before. Her writing style is divine. Definitely going to be reading more of her books. Check this out if you are wanting a quick light read with depth. You will not be disappointed, well maybe, but only because you will want more.

I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.A quick and easy read, Tempt by Rene Folsom puts a spin on the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale. Tempt is not written for children and is most appropriate for ages 18+. If you're looking to read a steamy f/f fantasy than Tempt might be right up your alley. The perfect length in story and prose, Rene captures Rosetta and makes us feel what she's experiencing. Clean of errors and grammatical issues, it's nice to read (what I believe to be) a self-published novel that is well-edited.After getting scratched in the forest, her grandmother warns her that she's been marked. Although we aren't entirely sure what is going on with Rosetta, we can quickly surmise based on previous stories of werewolves and paranormal novels. I appreciate that Tempt was a short story/novella and felt like it fit perfectly. Released just in time for Halloween, I can definitely see fans of paranormal romance picking this one up.

Rosetta is your average girl living in a small village. During the week leading up to the Halloween festival she runs an errand for her mom, to go through the woods to her grandmothers house to pick up items for the festival On her way there she feels like she is being followed . While trying to run she falls and knocks herself out. After the accident things begin to change She has been marked. She heals quickly and feels strange around other people. Th night she has vivid dreams of a beautiful alluring woman and a sandy furred wolf. She is beginning to feel like shes going crazy. Is the woman of her dreams real? She has to know and it all comes to head on Halloween night... I liked this book. I enjoy the different and sometimes twisted retelling's of classic Grimm fairy-tales. I look forward to other retelling's of other fairytale from this author in the future.Book reviewed for Renee Entress's Blog

What a fun story! Rene takes a typical children's fairy tale, tosses in some erotica, a few other twists and turns into atypical fairy take. Rosetta, a young adult girl on her way to her grandmother's house, is spooked in the woods, trips, and hits her head. She wakes up at her destination, but cannot remember what happened or how she got there. Deciding to let it go, she tries to go about her daily life. She is plagued by sexy dreams and frustrated by her body's changing needs.I'm intentionally leaving out a very important part because it should be a plasant surprise for the reader as it was for me. Folsom's writing style is gripping and easy to follow. She keeps you wanting more. Fortunately for us, gentle readers, she has more in store. Reading a preview for the next fairy tale installment I am excited to see how she handles the next twist in the story. Thank you for letting me review this book. It has been a pleasure.-Jennifer-

What an amazing twist on Little Red Riding Hood.Rene took the fairy tale and turned into a sexy tale for adults. The air of mystery and dread as well as the anticipation that Rosetta feels is all to real.Rosetta heads through the woods to her grandmother's house only to be attacked but doesn't remember anything about it but has the scratch marks to prove it. Not sure what to think of them and the feeling she gets when she is around her boyfriend, the dreams that are seem so real.Who is the person in her dreams? What does her grandmother mean when she says she is "marked"? Why do the marks hurt anytime she gets close to her boyfriend? These are questions that will be answered in this short well told adult version of Little Red Riding Hood!Congratulations on a great short story and I love the ending that leaves possibilities for more.

"Tempt" by Rene Folsom. Little Red Riding Hood....NOT! Ms. Folsom has taken the classic tale and twisted it into an interesting and enjoyable tale. This is the story of Rosetta - a young girl that doesn't realize she's missing anything until things change. This is a female-female story which is so tastefully done - the author describes the feelings and sensations of the main character as well as describing the scenery that one feels like they are right there with Rose. Despite being a novella and therefore, a short read, I felt like I understood Rose and could see exactly what the scenes looked like. I did feel badly for Cody and would have liked to have seen some closure with other characters in the tale. This is a very quick read and great for the Halloween season. An adult retelling of a childhood classic, that alone made me want to check it out. Most of us know that being "marked" in the fairy tale/supernatural/paranormal genre means one of two things, either Rosetta is going to experience something truly breathtaking or completely horrific. There really is no gray area when it comes to finding yourself marked. Which way does the author take it? Well, that would be a spoiler to the Nth degree and that isn't happening here, so you'll have to read for yourself to learn what Rosetta's marking means. I will say that it's an interesting and enticing read that seduces the reader until that last page is turned, or swiped depending on your reading format. This is a story of so much more than just a f/f relationship, there's strength, faith, and the determination to reach for what you may, or may not, be aiming for.

The author is amazing at pulling you into her story, with mystery and suspense of what has happened with our main character Rose and her journey in the forest on her way to see her grandmother. This is a nice and interesting spin on one of my favorite stories as a kid, but this is differently not the kids' story that we all know as children that is for sure! Wow, wow wow!! This was a book that I wish was just a bit longer, because I did not want it to end. I can honestly state that I was not sure how this book was going to end, and when it did it sure surprised me. This is a short and fast read, but so worth picking up, it will keep you on your toes throughout the entire story 4 fangsReviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock

Rene Folsom is my favorite author but I generally do not go for fantasy, sci-fi or fairy-tale stories. Well let me tell you this is NOT your typical fantasy or fairy-tale story! I enthusiastically give it 5 stars!Rene has a way of connecting with her readers, of drawing them so deeply in the story that they feel like they are either part of the book or they desperately want to become one of the characters. I truly enjoyed the way the two main characters interacted with each other. There was passion & sizzle that made it a great adult fairy-tale that is perfect for Halloween or any fall night! It left me satisfied at the end and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I definitely recommend Tempt!

This novella was a phenomenal twist on Little Red Riding hood.Rosetta is on her way to Grandma’s house. The only way to get there is through the Shrouded Wood, a place she’s traveled through many times without a second thought. This time, it’s different. This time she feels like she’s being watched. Just before she reaches her grandma’s, she trips and hits her head. She starts having erotic dreams. About a wolf with gold eyes. And a woman seducing her. She’s never been attracted to a woman before, but Rosetta knows she wants this one. This book was a great, easy read. It’s the first f/f book I’ve read, and it was very well written. I loved the twist on the childhood classic, and I’m excited to read more from Rene.

It was a quick an easy read with a twist on the classic little red riding hood. And to read this right before Halloween was even better. It was a hot, steamy read. If you like paranormal reads. I believe you will enjoy this book. Rosetta has to go pick up some chocolates from her grandmother's house for her mother. Her grandmother lives in a secluded little cottage deep in Shrouded woods, on her way there she feels like someone is following her, she trips and falls and blacks out. After she gets back home she is feeling weird and having some strange, hot dreams and longs for them to be real. So pick this hot, little read up just in time for Halloween and enjoy a new spin on an old classic.

Just in time for the Halloween season comes Tempt. Tempt is not your normal twist on Red Riding Hood. This book had 20 year old, Rosetta, going to grandma’s house for a quick errand. Rosie ends up with some mysterious but pleasurable scratches on her way through the woods. Leading up to the big town festival for Halloween, Rosie starts having lustful dreams of a woman she can hear but not see. Will Halloween bring out the animal in Rosie? Or is it all just a trick of her imagination? This was a nice and new twist on an old fairy tale.

Rene FolsomTemptLittle Red Riding hood is my favourite childhood story and to read a wonderful Rene rendition was amazing. How she imagines such things I don't know. The description of the forrest on the way to Granny's had me at the edge of my seat. Rosetta fighting through the thick brush and running in her beautiful red cape and hand made basket, I could feel the eyes watching her. The twist of the original story will have you biting your nails, oh the suspense. I loved this version of the story.

I always love new twists on old stories and this was no exception. Rene Folsom turned this story inside out and upside down and made a great modern twist on a well known classic, aiming at a much older audience (18+). In usual Rene style she has written an amazing short story which sucks you in and keeps you hooked till the very last page. I don't think Rene will ever disappoint with her stories, how she comes up with such wonderful ideas amazes me!
