Even though this is a short story, it has a good plot and I loved itA pleasure to read.

Mature heroine makes this storyThe characters are fairly flat, but this is a short book without much room left for character development. The good are good and the bad are bad. The heroine is mature, not a giddy, melodramatic girl, which I find utterly refreshing. Clement tells the story well, but the preponderance of passive voice on the first page nearly ended the story early. The wedding night scene seems thrown in as a sop to oblige readers with a sex scene. I don't mind explicit content, especially when it's sizzling hot, but this felt obligatory, and the story would have been just as good without it, maybe better. Still, if you're looking for a quick, sweet read about characters who aren't teeny hoppers, this will do nicely.

For eleven years Charles, the Earl of Stratton has been running away from guilt and battle fatigue. In this day and age PSTD. He has horrendous nightmares and memories. Helen already lost her brother in battle. When Charles returns home for the holidays and ignores her, she feels she has lost the only man she has ever loved. This is a beautiful love story that deals with romance, second chances, family and living with PSTD. For as short story, it was wonderful and I read it in one afternoon.

Regency ChristmasWar, death & guilt of a best friend takes it's toll. However, finally the hero confronts the past & has clarity on many things. This is a hopeful tale for Christmas where we are drawn into a small community preparing to celebrate, ghosts from the past may find peace & mistakes are righted.

This was a very enjoyable quick read. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the plot. It was well written. I wish it were more of a novel than a novella but at least the angst of the plot wasn't drawn out like it could have been. I am so glad to have read this wonderful story. It is the first that I have read from this author. Highly recommend.

There was more plot in this book than I expected in so few pages. I’m a slow reader & I enjoyed a book I could read in one evening. I enjoyed this book quite a bit. Hot characters with a bit of mystery about them. I was unfamiliar with the battle that messed up the hero. The author included a short history of it at the back of the book.

Christmas KissesA very well written story of survivors guilt and the engagement to a social climber because of a desire for a heir. Love triumphs with marriage to one who truly moved him.

Short and sweet is not always enoughLike a Christmas gift once you open the book half the fun is over. The characters are but sketches, the story hardly challenges and there really isn't any depth.

This is a good book. It is a little short but nothing was lacking. The characters are well-written. Helen was such a good person. I was so glad she got her HEA. I would recommend this book.

Short and weak but not a bad way to spend an afternoon, until the sex scene was tossed in. Sure was not needed and seemed out of place. Not one I will keep on my Kindle.

This was a sweet Christmastime historical romance. It was fairly short, and I really enjoyed the fact that it wasn't set in London.

Loveley ReadChristmas Kisses is an historical romance novella. Its about Charles, Earl of Stratton, who struggles against his demons brought on from the horrific experience of war. The loss of his best friend, Jack, is a consuming reminder of the constant guilt that he blames himself. Out of duty Charles has protected Jack’s sister, Helen, ensuring a roof over her head after Jack’s death. He has avoided Helen and can’t face her because of his guilt.Helen has loved Charles since she was sixteen. And now that Charles has come home to his estate for Christmas, she might think its time to let him know her feelings but is left yearning when Charles brings a new fiance in tow. Charles tells her that it will be a marriage of convenience, and a loveless one. An unexpected kiss under the mistletoe branch between Helen and Charles rekindles the budding love they had in earlier times. What a relief, I was in distress to think these two deserving people who clearly were made for each other would ever find their HEA. Christmas Kisses is a lovely read, and what a satisfying romantic ending. Nicely done, Ms. Clement. My rating: 4 I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.Such a refreshing story of love found and lost. Helen has been in love with Charles since she was sixteen. Charles did not realize he loved Helen till he kissed her. His guilt over the death of brother had kept him from home. Refusing to go back to where he had fond memories of his friend Jack.It was so refreshing to see them not hide from there feelings but to own up to Honor and follow through on his commitment to marry Sybil his fiancé.While Helen does not blame him for her brother's death, Charles does. When Helen comes upon him, in the secret cottage he and Jack played in, she makes him confront his reasons for the nightmares that plaque him. She tells him to seek help by talking about what happened in the war, whether with her or someone else.War is not easy as we all know, affecting us all in so many ways. Those who are left behind will always wonder if their loved ones were alone or with someone. Those who come back carry the guilt of loss for those who died. Can Charels move forward with his guilt? Will he be able to do the honorable thing and let Helen go?

A job well done on a story in such a short form. It was charming but also had all of the angst and pain of war memories that Charles experienced. His fiancee was some piece of work even before Charles knew she had secrets. I think because of his guilt and feelings of duty she was what he thought he deserved. Yes, she was beautiful on the outside but not so much on the inside. I enjoyed the book and also the re-awakening that Charles began to come through. Helen was one tender but strong woman, who remained loving even through the disappointments of life. Helen helped by raising her sisters and seeing them married while she herself remained single. She remained true to her heart's desire of not marrying for anything less than love. The information on this book states that it is a Sensual Regancy novella, so of course there will be some (mild) heat in the story. It kept me interested through out the story. Sometimes simple is more. Ms. Clement has written an endearingly beautiful story of love conquering all. Through guilt, heartbreak, loss and pain- love will find a way. Charles is struggling. He survived the war, but his best friend didn't. Helen, not only loss her brother to the war but the love of her life has pushed her away. Charles has to learn to forgive himself, in order to achieve happiness. Heartwarming holiday romance. I received a copy of Christmas Kisses for an honest review.
