" I needed time to deal with the fact my best friend killed himself. I need to mourn him. I hated him for what he did to Carrington, but he was my best friend, it felt like mourning him was betraying her. the guy who hurt Carrington wasn't the kid I grew up with. the Josh I knew stood up for me on the first day of school and never backed down from a challenge. the man I knew never gave up" Jacksonhope for her was the beginninghope for him is the middlehope for us will be their ending. ( still to come)I am a big fan of these books and I have to say well played to the author, she could have rushed and made these two books but she didn't because she never left out details.what happened in hope for her with Josh was a tragic incident that can't be brushed over with loving and being with someone. burying the feelings and not addressing them doesn't make them go away, they eat at you and will affect your lives ,time may have moved on but these guys haven't it's affected everyone who was close to Josh not just Jackson and Carrington but also joshs dad and sisters who have changed as a result of what happened.these guys need toMOURN Josh as he did take his own life and as much as there was bad times they also had good times.FORGIVE maybe they can forgive Josh maybe not but the need to forgive themselves especially Jackson.TRUST they have to be able to trust themselves as well as each other without Josh we wouldn't have Jack.Jackson and Carrington are made for each other that is plain to see and we know eventually they will be together properly but this book shows that their time isn't yet, once they both get the help they need to move on this relationship will stand a chance.I didn't agree with Jackson being with tiffany but I get it, I wish he had gone about things differently, I agree that as well as its his fault it's also Carringtons aswel.Jackson relationship with little Jack is beautiful and makes any woman fall more in love with thing is author writes well is emotions, we cannot help but feel and connect with these characters. for me this is a HUGE must, if I can't connect I give up and with so many issues brought up in the story you need to feel the emotions to understand why the author taken this route and not just give the happy ever after.we get a new character join us and I love her Kayla she's joshs cousin but she is nothing like the up tight family, and I think she's perfect for Carrington and little Jack. she truly cares about them and wants what's best for them but I think that as much as Carrington and Jack need her she needs them. Hope to see a lot more from her :)oh and congrats Jackson I cannot wait for the next book.

Hope For Him picks up about a year after Hope For Her. I felt the transition and time lapse was very smooth and filled in all the blanks from Hope For Her. The story starts with Carrington celebrating Jack’s first birthday back home. Jackson has come for the party and Carrington and him finally hook up. We then find out that Jackson has a girlfriend, Tiffany, who can tell she isn’t the one Jackson wants. When Jackson and Carrington finally get together, everything is great and just as imagined…Until Tiffany lets Carrington in on the date of Jackson and her first date in March, Jack’s birthday is in May. Carrington is broken and feels as though she can’t trust anyone in her life. Jackson’s life plays out just as he’d imagined since he was little and Carrington is starting to wish things were different. The cliffhanger ending definitely made me want to read the last book in this trilogy.I admire Carrington’s character so much. I love the confidence and image that she portrays in her story. All the emotion she carries and the burdens she lives with is such an admirable quality and I really enjoyed how she was written. I love the way Sydney writes, so full of emotion and can capture her reader audience. I highly recommend this second installment of the Hope For series if you were a fan of Hope For Her!I received this novel in exchange for an honest review.

In the second addition of the series "Hope For Him" we find Jackson and Carrington holding on, but still reeling with the ache of regret, fear, need and love. Both are still somewhat unsure about how to move on with or without each other.Carrington's not ready for Jackson's shoulder. Not with dreams laced in old fear, crying and drowning in a river of her own tears. She hasn't recognized the darkness that still lives deep in. Carrington hasn't fully confronted it and it continues to hold her back. It keeps her out the blue sunshine she'd like to bath herself/son in. Will she realize, what she needs to face in order for her heart to really sing?Jackson know's he made a mistake in holding back his feelings for Carrington to please his best friend Josh. But the aftermath of it all leaves behind a wealth of regret. Changing some for the better and leaving others stagnant. Soon Jackson takes on the role of her protector and best friend though love lies underneath it all. He's sees the shadows that live in her heart, but knows a separation is necessary. Still Jackson's willing to wait until she's really ready to bath herself in his offering of light.Sydney brought out a roller coaster of emotions and I was very pleased with everyone. Book 2 was more than pleasing and I will be patiently waiting in vain for book 3.

Hope for him was a really good book, but in the first half I struggled to connect with Jackson. I didn't understand his behavior or his motivation. Jackson's girlfriend was a really annoying character so what kept him with her was an absolute mystery! Carrington, on the other hand, was a really strong character. What she was going through was believable and understandable and well written. The author references what happened in the previous book subtly so it wasn't an annoying rehash. I really enjoyed Carrington and Jackson's story so far and I'm looking forward to the next installment, especially after reading the teaser at the end of this book. Hope it's released soon! If there was one thing I'd change about the book it's the repetition of the characters full names (first, middle and last) at the start of each chapter - indicating the pov - and throughout the book. But that's really just a pet peeve of mine and probably won't irritate other readers as much!I received a copy from the author for an honest review.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started Hope for Him, but Sydney far outdid anything I could have imagined. I would have thought that with so much emotion and drama from the last book that this one would be the same or would feel like it was lacking. I was wrong. Really wrong. I couldn't put this book down, and I found myself engrossed in the story so much that chunks of my time just disappeared. Carrington wants her life back. She needs to go back to school. Jackson feels connected to Carrington, feels like he could fall in love with her, but with them being separated it doesn't really work. When Carrington shows up at school surprising him, he's got a surprise of his own. Hope for Him is a great addition to the series and continues the journey of the characters we already met. What I loved about this book is that it had a totally different feel from the first one yet it still fit with the series. I'm excited to see where this series goes.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I can't say enough about this author and this series. I loved reading this so far and am only disappointed in having to wait for the next book. This is such a revealing book as far as characters go. No happy endings .. yet. It sucks to grow up as fast and as traumatically as Carrington has so far but I can't see it going any other way. Call me sadistic but I love the drama and the heartache. Its what makes this so great. I like that the author doesn't hold back as far as the characters' stupidity and naivety is and what their actions bring. The consequences are not lightened just because it makes for a great HEA and lives move on in one way or another. I seriously hope to read the next book soon!

Received from the author for a honest review. This is the second book of this trilogy and it keeps getting better. Where the first book sets the stage and had lots of drama, Hope for Him takes us through the pain and emotions of dealing with a loss. The thought of how to move forward and trust again. Carrington & Jackson come to terms with everything that went wrong the past year but will they be strong enough to both get what they want in the future. The first book was good but Ms. Sydney's writing is getting better and better.

This book did not disappoint. It was a lot different then the first book, was not intense. I love Carrington and Jackson. They make such a cute couple. The past in the end keeps them apart, but what we got to experience between the two as a couple makes me want more and I can't wait to read more and hope for a happy ending in the next book. The excerpt at the end for Hope of Us got me so excited I wanted more. It also had me intrigued to how far in the future the book is.

Sydney Aaliyah Michelle is such a excellent story teller that I had to read this triology in one setting. As I was riding on a train looking at the pastures I got caught up in Jackson and Carrington. Sometimes when racism rears its ugly head grief has a way of uniting love. Mr. Griffen realized that he had one chance to continue his lineage through his grand-son. Well put together story line. Sensual, mysterious and riveting.

Love deferred! It just keeps getting better! So good to see the characters evolve and their issues being addressed. This is a must read series! I was really heartbroken by How things turned out for Josh and Carrington, I knew he would mess up but didn’t know it would be that bad! Then when he committed suicide, that just broke my heart! But Jackson was a good friend even if he doesn’t think he was. He was there for Carrington when she needed him most. I don’t agree with Carrington and it’s sad she can’t see her part in her breakup with Jackson! But Jackson is right, they both need to get their life! Carrington needs to resolve what happened between her and Josh and Jackson needs to truly mourn his best friend. Then maybe the planets will align and they’ll be in the right place at the right time!

Talk about an emotional read. Carrington is back and this time she has her eyes set on the one person who has been there for her but is it too late? Carrington has taken a few hits and Jackson has been there to support her through it all but his guilt of falling for his best friends girl may not let him show how he really feels. What an emotional read. I wanted to shake some sense into both of them, but then I guess that's why I enjoyed it so much. I want more because this series has me all flustered and bothered that they just keep missing the mark. Great job getting me all invested in their HEA, now all it has to do is happen.

I really did like this book. I did not read the 1st book, "Hope for Her," because I got the gist of what it contained by reading this one and the 3rd book in the series. I truly liked the storyline. A mixed race beauty, Carrington was not secure in her beauty or herself in general as she began her college career, and having fallen in love with the wealthy Josh Griffin, who had a wicked drug addiction and was awash with all sorts of demons, only to have the relationship turn into a nightmare from hell, knows only that there was only one good thing as a result of that nightmare - - her son, Jack. The baby boy who almost wasn't, named after his godfather, Jackson Mitchell, Josh's best friend. Becoming Carrington's best friend after the nightmare with Josh, and finding that friendship turn into a deep, growing love, Jackson and Carrington experience the ultimate personal and physical connection in one sole instance, before Carrington insists that their relationship cannot survive the past and even the present. Although they both want each other, he honors her wish and stays away, for nearly 7 years. Until fate brings them to the same town, and back into each other's lives. The storyline was beautiful. My only reasons for not giving this book a 5-star rating are two-fold: first, the editing was poorly done. I know that there were beta readers AND editors, and yet the number of grammatical errors ("there" instead of "they're", etc.) and sentence structure errors. It was annoying, but I loved the story and characters, so kept reading on. However, the second part of my problem was that Carrington simply couldn't make up her mind about what she wanted from Jackson - - on several occasions when he would come to her, to try to convince her to give them a chance, she'd only take his body. It was pure sex for sex sake, and each time Jackson would feel awful, although he would take what she offered if it was all he could get. I think this book could easily be a 5-star, across-the-board read, if the grammar were cleaned up a bit. I can't tell Ms Michelle, or anyone, how to write, because I can't do it myself. She can write a great love story, which is attested to by the fact that I also purchased and read the 3rd book. I'm rooting for Sidney Michelle.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review 3.5 StarsUgh...I wasn't expecting a cliff hanger again... That brought it down from some points.FYI spoilers,(view spoiler)[... (hide spoiler)]I was so happy that Jackson and Carrington finally realized they couldn't fight their connection. They are both trying to deal what happened in the first book. It appears Carrington is doing well and Jackson still visit her and on his last visit they sleep together. After everything that happened Carrignton decides she is ready to be with Jackson. Mr. Griffen has been trying to make a menses and take care of his grandchild and help Carrignton. She decides to take his offer with her own rules and move back to Florida to be with Jackson. What she doesn't know is Jackson has had a girlfriend for the last few months. She comes back to campus and finds out. So there is some drama and jealously. They end up together to only breakup and end in a cliff hanger.. The goodThe book is written in 2 POV which works well.Jackson - I actually liked how he was with his girlfriend (yes he had a girlfriend not Carrington). Why did I like how he was even though he was a douche b/c it seemed so real. I think a lot of guys in the situation would be the same. Jackson's jealously over Carrington talking to other guys. Jackson relationship with Jack. Kayla - I loved her she was awesome funny as hell. Although didn't understand the point of her threesome but it was funny.Mr. Griffin- he has redeem himself and his part was written well.Carrington - She was her usual self just with being a mom. I would actually like to get to know her better in the book. The badThe cliffhanger, I think the book could have ended in a few more chapters and a great epilogue. I feel like the author is dragging it on. As for the story there just feels like something is missing between Jackson and Carrington. I wasn't feeling it.

I got an ARC for my honesty...I really enjoyed reading this book. I really like that it was from 2 POV's and I really like how Carrington started moving forward with her life.. I really liked all thee characters that played a part in this book except for Jackson's ex girlfriend, she can choke on lettuce for all I care lol..I didn't like how they were at standstill most of the book.. and I wasn't feeling how everything ended, or shall i say the cliff hangerall in all good book I can't waait for the next one to come out

This story has so much emotion. You always hope they end up together and happy. Sometimes that just may not be possible. but as they always say there is hope. I think when you when know you can give it everything you have you hope for the best. who knows they may find there way back from all the hurt and pain. Jackson knows what and who he needs. but he has alot of hurt along the way. I could not out this story down. I is really a must read book.

A Great Sequel- BRAB ONLINE BOOK CLUBThis is the second book in the series, and I enjoyed it as much as the first one. My first thought when finishing this book was it reminded me of the hobbit. A whole bunch of info with no action and a bad cliffhanger. I'm still waiting for the ending I wanted I the first book now two books in. I didn't like that cheating was so nonchalantly discussed and then she was yelled at for standing her ground against it like he can sleep with whoever he wants and she should shut up.

Please hire an editorNo, really! I couldn't bring myself to rate this higher because of the plot inaccuracies, the grammatical errors and the fact that while she is a very skilled writer, she was ok with publishing a book that was not properly edited or proofed!
