Pafoo the new Ziron Nanook's version Nanook and the Zirons Reviews
Learning how to care for young ones - even new Zirons! In 1983, François Bissonnette, created the early versions of the Zirons. But it was not until 1998, a few years after the birth of his two daughters, that the author published his first book of Zirons. And lucky for all that he has embraced a new direction. These little stories involve imagination, realism, surrealism, and magic and are bound to be favorites of children throughout the world. The book is in two formats - one for girls and one for boys - age group 3 to 8 years.Nanook and his twin sister Naloo are 7-year-old Eskimos and live in and igloo in Nunavuts: in the summer they live in a leather tent. Nanook loves to spend time with the Zirons, especially Wiggy and Wiffi who have something to show Nanook - a place filled with giant flowers. Wiffi says to pay attention to the big blue flower as she is about to give birth to new Ziron. Nanook is amazed that Zirons come form flowers - he is so impressed with the talking clouds and the magic rocks which are soft and made of rubber. Nanoon, Wiffi and Wiggy watch as the giant blue flower gives birth to a little green Ziron who once born bounces around saying `Pafoo' because that is his name. Nanook and friends teach him words, how to jump, but soon they are distracted and Pafoo disappears. Afraid that he may be eaten by the Crunch-Crunches - but all is safe when they discover Pafoo asleep in the bed at Zoroo's house. The drawings are fun, the story is an adventure and with images and tales such as this even very small children will love the book.
"A Very Entertaining Children's Book For Boys"This is the continuing story of Nanook, the young Eskimo boy, who now has many furry friends who live in Ziron. He's always anxious to cross the magical rock to find Wiggy and Wiffi. They are excited to show him something. It's warm in Ziron so he takes off his parka. They arrive at a place of GIANT flowers ... purple, blue, red, yellow. The amazing thing he learns is that all the Zirons come into their world born by the flowers! This is a very cute story which gives a wonderful description of the the cute characters ... especially the newborn Pafoo! As a baby, Pafoo has many lessons to learn. One lesson is learning new words just like a human baby. But, even though Nanook, Wiggy and Wiffi are looking after Pafoo, he suddenly disappears and Nanook is concerned for his safety. Where can he be? This is a wonderful story to share with young boys. The illustrations are simple and very colorful, with happy faces. Adults and children will enjoy the adventure and wise message.
This is the boy's version of the Ziron Series. Nanook ventures back to Ziron and is met by two of his friends. They have been waiting for him. They have a surprise. A new Ziron is about to be born. It seems that Zirons come from maternal plants. They play with the new Ziron teaching it to speak. Suddenly they can no longer find Pafoo. Where do you think he is?Very cute book.I received a copy from the author to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
In the boy's version of this delightful little tale, Nanook arrives in the land of Ziron to witness the birth of a new Ziron from a flower. In teaching the baby to talk and play, Pafoo gets lost and Nanook and friends rush about looking for him.Once again, bright colors and strange little creatures highlight this tale for the young ones.
